Fortunately all of us pregnant ladies at work have found out the sex of our babies so no comments on that front. With a lot of Spanish people still I´m considered good breeding stock because this is the 2nd boy & we all know boys are superior to girls

Peachy · 13/02/2008 16:16

My sister used to get repeated comments when she was sixteen walking down the street with the double buggy- one day she turned round and it was my nan yelling from the car.

She was a Nanny, they were her charges as a trainee!

EllieG · 13/02/2008 16:28

Right. The question of the afternoon is - do I go to aqua natal swimming class or be lazy and go home and eat tea? I am very tired and do not feel like it at all but know it is good for me and generally helps back etc.

Hi. I'm new to mumsnet so i hope this is the correct thread to write in!!
I'm due on 27th April 08, all we know is it's healthy and a baby!!
It's our first so we're excited but nervous! Not liking the feeling big and heavy thing, but it'll be over fairly soon! Can't really complain as had it pretty easy really, just some back pain and mild anaemia.

Peachy · 13/02/2008 17:37

Welcome Lennsuey
There's a list further down- make sure you use the most recent one as otherwise we all get confused LOL- add yourself to it! (just use copy and paste, nowt fancy)

VictorianSqualor · 13/02/2008 17:46

Hi Lensuey.

Went to the nurse she couldnt decide whether my blood pressure was high or not
It's normally about 120/60, this time it was 11/71, but that means absolutely zilch to me

I walked from the school to town for the bus home because the appntmnt went over by ten minutes and meant we missed the first bus, my gosh, I thought baby was going to come out there and then! I was in a lot of pain and really out of breath, some poor young lass stopped me asking if I was ok, I think she thoguht she was going to have to delvier the baby!

Peachy · 13/02/2008 17:52

If it's going up and you had a +1 of protein they SHOULD be monitoring you VS- you know you're at risk of pre-eclampsia anyway with the placenta thingy. I would chase up with your MW ASAP

Lennsuey · 13/02/2008 17:53

Hi Peachy!
What page is the list on??? Or am a being daft!
Sorry, i'll get the hang of this soon!

VictorianSqualor · 13/02/2008 17:55

The nurse I saw was a trained midwife, just not employed as a midwife at my docs iyswim, she said to book an appointment for early next week to see the midwife and if symptoms havent gone in 24-48 hours call the on call midwife out because there is no way to be sure it isnt just the flu, so I was going to do that...

chipmonkey · 13/02/2008 17:56

Hi girls, had a 3D scan today, got great pics and DVD. But found out the sex and it's a boy. I know I should be grateful to have healthy children but I really did want to someday have a girl and now that's not going to happen ever. Dh, bless him, said we could try again but I'm 39 now and this will be my 4th CS so really not advisable Dh said to talk to the obs anyway but I know what he'll say so not much point!

Denny185 · 13/02/2008 19:17

Chipmonkey, boys r so much easier, honestly the only things your missing are fairly constant whinging, barbie dolls, having to do hair B4 school, tears with the tantrums need I go on ...........

Welcome Lennsuey, no your not being daft the last list is probably pages back as you will soon discover these April ladies can talk and churn through several pages a day.

VS, sorry your not feeling so good, hope it is just the flu and your not heading for the first April baby

7 weeks today I will be confined to my hosp bed with a v pleasant catheter in and a v sore tummy but a hopefully a LO in my arms

PortAndLemon · 13/02/2008 19:25

I do know at least one woman who's had five c-sections, and I think there's a Mumsnetter who's had six...

scorpio1 · 13/02/2008 20:22

Chipmonkey...you sound disappointed its ok, i think you thought this may be a girl and saw 'her' as that iyswim? you will feel better soon. And never say never - they will get another baby out somehow but you may have a boy again. I hope you feel better soon

Jamie has got tonsilitis

scorpio1 · 13/02/2008 20:27

Suze - i have been thinking about Emilia for a while...

(am thinking you say Em...e..lia? like Amelia but Em?)

Peachy · 13/02/2008 20:28

Chipmonkey hugs- probably know better than most how you feel. You will get used to the idea (for me it was the idea that I will never be Mother of the bride- silly or what?) and you will adore your little boy.

chipmonkey · 13/02/2008 21:25

Well, I suppose, Peachy, neither will we be Mother of Bridezilla! That could be troublesome!

VictorianSqualor · 13/02/2008 21:27

zipper, has had 7 CS's, hence the name.

I was lcuky(?) having one of each straight off the mark so have never wanted either sex tbh, but I can empathise how it must feel.

As for 'should be grateful' that LO is healthy, there is nothing anywhere that says we can't be grateful and disappointed at the same time. (My VBAC woes taught me that much)

Peachy · 13/02/2008 21:34

I think dh banked on a girl becasue they're less likely to get ASD, and it hit him harder- I had kinda guessed (both my sisters only have boys as well). Quite pleased now though, at least I now now shape f my family for ever, which is a bonus.

Just sold our car and bought another- hurray! Last one was fine (as far as a car we happily sold for £450 ever could be) but has needed ever increasing garage time and we were getting worried about DH and him getting home if labour kicked off. Mind you, have never yet gone into labour without him being here except for induction. And even then when i got really ill it was when he was at home to help out.

PortAndLemon · 13/02/2008 21:35

Hello Lennsuey!

It's odd; I didn't have a preference for boy or girl this time, but I'd had a strong feeling that it was a boy. So by the time we found out that she was a girl I had this imaginary little boy running around in my head (IYSWIM) and an idea of DS and his little brother together, and it was actually a bit of a wrench letting go of that. While I'm perfectly happy to be having a DD, on one level it was as though the little boy of my imaginings had been taken away.

VictorianSqualor · 13/02/2008 21:40

P&L, I was kind of lke that with DS, I was sure it was going to be another girl at first, and the idea of two little girls was making me all happy, then further into the pregnancy I got a 'its bound to be a boy now I dont want one' strop on and by about 6 months was convinced, plus everyone I knew that was pg at the time (there were about 8 of us in our extended friendship group) had tiny little girly bumps or huge mahoosive boy bumps, I was huge mahoosive

This time, bump size says its a boy, but I often think that it'll be a trick and be a girl!

chipmonkey · 13/02/2008 21:48

SIL had a baby 2 days ago, and she was mahoosive as well! Am very sceptical about Old Wives Tales now! ( Also SIL called her dd the name I was going to call my possible dd and though it wasn't intentional on her part it does make me feel a little worse)

Denny185 · 13/02/2008 22:02

just got off phone to friend who had mahoosive bump with last pregnancy - little girl whilst another friend who was pregnant at the same time had the smallest bump ever like blink and you miss it had a large boy.

She just said about the wedding ring trick over the bump, apparently whilst held by DH no movement but when she held it it started moving. She repeated the experiment over his stomach and over the bed, no movement. May try B4 i go to bed tonight (if I can find wedding ring as dosent fit on my sausage fingers at the mo). Round and round for boy and side to side for girl.

Zipper - what a great name, but oohhh the thought of 7 sections. 3's plenty!!

EllieG · 14/02/2008 09:06

I don't have a wedding ring though - or rather I do, but is from last marriage. Not sure if that would work though

Have SUCH a busy day. I hate work today. Nearly there though! In 5 weeks I'll be finished hurray hurray

Hi chipmonkey, just wanted to say i know a family of four boys, they are all grown up now, and they are such a close family and have had so much fun growing up together. And now the house is full of girls too, in the form of their girlfriends and wives, and so mum is happy! I envy you having four of any gender, I think we'll have to stop at two.
