Well they are taxable benefits so I would imagine you will still be taxed on them... but I am not the font of all knowledge on this subject so don't quote me on this one

Click is good

The Notebook - the ultimate chick flick!

Mollyfloss · 08/02/2008 11:20

How to lose a guy in 10 days isn't bad...

Soph73 · 08/02/2008 11:23

Hi there. NEM - if Lanzarote is anything like the Materno here it should be very good. Just don´t expect any sort of bedside manner as they don´t know how to do that here so can´t imagine they can in Lanzarote Also, don´t be surprised if no-one speaks English. Although Lanzarote is a bigger tourist place for the English than here so I´m sure they´ll find someone to translate. Saying that - hopefully you´ll never need to find out

I´m trying to remember some of your messages. Loads of people gasped and went "oh no" when I told them Sam was a boy. However, even though I thought he was going to be a girl I wasn´t disappointed to find out he wasn´t. Just kept thinking about how much boy stuff I´d already got and how much we´d save in the long run Also DS1 was well chuffed because according to him he doesn´t like girls

Went to Health Centre yesterday & got to see Sam again - everything fine although my blood pressure is too high so have to have it checked every day for a month. May also scupper my chances for going back to work next week but am seeing the doctor this afternoon for results of blood test for mumps so will see what she says. My due date is now 5th May, that´s the 4th due date so far!! Guess I´ll just have to wait until he´s ready to put in an appearance.

Anyway, must go as I´m REALLY hungry and want lunch before I trek off to doctors. Have good weekends everyone and (fingers crossed) I´ll get to speak to you all on Monday Big love & hugs to everyone

Only direct feeding of honey is bad -- there's a very very very very very small risk of botulin poisoning. You don't need to worry about pst-honey breastmilk.

I always love Clueless.

Peachy · 08/02/2008 11:47

Oooh i love clueless too- and The Weding Singer, that's my ultimate film i think- pure cheese

Soph- great level of care, even when I had the eclampsia developing I only got a check every two days.

Why do people think boys are bad? I get that sooo much- ah you must be brave, etc etc. Why? better than a house full of abrbies and pink when i'm a very ungirly girl, surely?

Just ordered Dh a box of retro sweets for valentines LOL- all love hearts and cherry lips. I bet he'lls ay my gift is the Dyson

scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 11:51

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 11:54

How do you apply for a maternity grant?

scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 11:56

its £500.

scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 11:57

the link has info, you get the form from the jobcentre, and the MW has to sign it. it has been 2 weeks since i sent the form and ££ is going in tomorrow!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 12:00

Fab - thanks Scorpio - and congrats on getting your grant!

sagitta · 08/02/2008 12:46

Great news Scorpio.

How about The 40-year old virgin?

northeastmummy · 08/02/2008 14:11

You can eat goats cheese if it's cooked
info here

northeastmummy · 08/02/2008 14:21

Thanks for the info re: maternity in Lanzarote Soph - just need to find the details of the hospital now!

Saying that, our trip is still in jeapordy. DD is still getting spots and the airline say they'll only take her 7 days after the last spot appears. We've already missed that deadline as she's still getting spots today and we're due to leave on Thursday - but how do they know when she got her last spot? I'm hoping a letter from the doctor saying she's no longer infectious will satisfy them. I haven't given up hope yet!

I'm rubbish at chick flicks ... but one of my favourite films ever is the Breakfast Club so if it was me, that's what I'd be watching .

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 14:35

Guess who I've seen today???
Went back to my doctor as DD's head wasn't any better, got pictures taken of both DD and DS's heads, got a referral straight to a specialist skin clinic where I was given oral anti-fungals, anti-fungal shampoo and some cvream, and a skin scraping was taken.

TLSM · 08/02/2008 14:47

I was going to say my sister VS! She was at the doctors today having her burns dressed! (She dropped her steam iron on herself whilst trying to put it away above her head it slide right down her arm ) bless her. Funny isnt it you could have quite easily go to the same docs and have been there at the same time Anyway really gald they have done what you wanted at last hopefully this will sort it is her hair still ok?

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 14:53

Yeah thankfully her hair hasnt fallen out yet, the doctor was great.(Victoria house surgery?)

As soon as I got there and they saw it wasnt working with the anti-biotics they sent me to the dermatologist who said that although he should wait for the skin scraping to be analysed etc if it was his daughter he'd want to start treatment straight away, he also gave her some tablets that havent been licensed for children, but have for adults, apparently he has been using them for 15years but they wont test them on children, which is silly cos its something only kids get

He thinks it is a ringworm type infection which often comes from cattle, and as we live right opposite a cattle farm the cat has probably picked it up from there.

Also everything he said was basicaly what I had found on the internet so it made a lot of sense.

TLSM · 08/02/2008 15:06

I am so glad it is getting sorted

Sheds75 · 08/02/2008 15:55

VS glad your finally getting things sorted!
and thanks everyone for th chick flick suggestions now I just need to get the popcorn in .....

MW has just left after her home visit, we spent an hour discussing all the Breastfeeding info, What a lot to take in begining to get a bit worried about remembering everything now

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 15:57

Oh Shed, meant to say, DP has a company car, but no fuel card and it is classed as £2112 per year in taxable income/benefits, so you might be better off not having the car/fuel card during mat leave if it's going to bump up your supposed income.

northeastmummy · 08/02/2008 15:59

Brilliant news VS - I'm not surprised you're relieved ... that has all taken far too long!!

Denny185 · 08/02/2008 16:05

Yeah VS glad its getting sorted, hopefully thosee treatments will do the trick.

NEM, keeping fingers crossed for you that holiday goes ahead on Thurs.

Molly, I thought that as well with first pregnancy then found out at 38 weeks that they had actually been mistaking pelvis for head and DD was breech. Apparently her pelvis was v solid and an easy mistake to make

Mum feed me lunch time, DH working lates and dad not home till late so thought we'd have big meal early - pizza and salad, followed by butterscotch angel delight (I am such a child) mmmmmmmmmmm. Now what shall I have for tea

Have a great weekend all.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 16:06

Wow - very good news VS - pity its taken this long for them to take you seriously!

scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 17:27

thats great VS, see you do know what you are talking about despite the doctors opinions!!

i had kfc for tea
