Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 09:31

sounds like you have felt the baby turn or move down to engage?

sounds fine and normal, sometimes i feel very ill when she does big movements like that. i felt ds1 turn a full circle at 34 weeks and puked!!

PortAndLemon · 08/02/2008 09:40

Sounds like baby just doing a big turn; those can feel really weird now because there isn't much room left for doing big turns in.

TLSM · 08/02/2008 09:41

Would help if I put the right thing here

Mum2b2 I would say as Scorpio baby is getting in to position it can be quite scary when the do a full spin I think my little (although not very little) chap did last night I also had kicks/punches on both side of my belly at the same time which felt very odd!

scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 09:43

i seem to be getting almost constant BH the last day or so; you think thats ok? I was worried because i had thrush but thats gone already;was very mild. and thrush is harmless. Can't remember what happened last time i was pg, i think i had them alot.

northeastmummy · 08/02/2008 09:48

I had that a couple of days ago when the baby was kicking/punching on both sides - how do they do that? It felt like it was lieing sideways across my tummy??

TLSM · 08/02/2008 09:55

Scorpio I have only had a few this time and had none with Max I am sure its just your body getting ready my Mum said the more babies you have the more BH you have (she had 4 kids) I think it could be because your body knows what its doing the more you have

NEM thats how this one is laying Transverse! Head one side back/bum over the way out legs the other

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 10:04

Thanks peeps - feel reassured now... I am sure now that it's been pointed out to me that it's what it was - baby turning! And I guess you would feel ill from that if you think of all the organs in the way!

What does a BH feel like? Do they hurt?

TLSM - the place you are going to looks fab! We are also thinking of booking a summer break but trying to decide whether it be here or France - so your place is def going in the maybe there pile!

Hi!
Can you offer me some advice on food. Its my freinds wedding and she ants to know what pregnant women can eat. I am rubbish at the rules, and I expect others there may be more strict so I want to get it right. These are the start choices:
Crab and Tarragon Mayonnaise with Curly Endive and a Fresh Lemon Dressing
OR
Crayfish Cocktail with Fresh Lemon and Sesame Mayonnaise
Or
roasted tomato, goats cheese and herb tartlet with fig pear and balsamic dressing

What can we eat? (I'd love the crab, but is that banned?)

scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 10:09

you cant eat the cheese.

be wary of the mayo - is it raw egg mayo? if it is thats a no-no too.

BH just feel like a really tight tummy; they feel uncomfortable.

sagitta · 08/02/2008 10:12

If the cheese is cooked, is it OK? And what about crayfish?

scorpio1 · 08/02/2008 10:14

cooked ok

i just eat whatever fish. i love cheese [dribble] the smellier the better!!

Mollyfloss · 08/02/2008 10:22

Hello Ladies: Well the weather is quite sunny and mild here in Paris, strange for February... the last couple of days have been hectic with work so just got a chance to catchup now.

TLSM: Looks like a gorgeous place for your hols! Your Aunt is terrible but the comments did make me laugh sorry.... unbelievable some of the stuff some people will come out with. One of my friends is appalled that I found out the sex of the baby. He makes it sound like I have ruined something when in fact it was a magical thing for me to find out at the 20 week scan.

I don't know how you're all eating chinese, it's one thing I have gone off in pregnancy, although was never really into it I suppose anyway. Wouldn't mind a bit of Japanese though, shame I can't have most of it...

I've had the baby kick in all directions at the same time too. It's like she's headbutting, punching and kicking all at the same time. My Mum says I should slow down or I'll have a hyperactive child, this could be the first sign... I'm one of those people who walks fast, talks fast and needs everything done yesterday... hmmmm...

My Doc told me the head was down the last time and the baby was unlikely to move up again but it's possible. Does anyone know how to feel for the baby parts themselves? I'm amazed how the doc can just know when the head or bum is in two seconds flat. I'm afraid to poke around too much...

Peachy · 08/02/2008 10:23

yes, fish is fine (2 portions a week, one of oily apparently).

Crab sounds fantastic but i suppose you'd want to be sure of the catering with shellfish.

Going to recommend this baby clothes site, bought Bassy baby a gorgeos girafe cardi for first outfit and its fantastic

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 10:25

As long as the crayfish is cooked properly it should be fine! Went to a very fancy restaurant with work, and they served lobster partially cooked! You can get listeria from raw fish/meat!

PortAndLemon · 08/02/2008 10:27

Had oodles of crab at the weekend as was on a cookery course that turned out to revolve around it. It was somewhere I was pretty darn confident of their standards of crab selection and storage, though.

Mollyfloss · 08/02/2008 10:28

Here is some straightforward advice on what to eat/not to eat: here

you should avoid the cheese and the crab is ok if it is cooked properly. In fact I think seafood has loads of nutrients and is good for pregnant ladies as long as it has been cooked right through. You can only have the mayonnaise if it has been made with pasteurised eggs. home made mayonnaise( which is what those one's sound like) may not have been but you could ask although it's always hard to get a straight answer..

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 10:30

oooh that site has some very cute stuff Peachy... and I have been very restrained thus far.... not sure I have the will power any more after seeing some of the things they have on there!

sagitta · 08/02/2008 10:40

Thanks for that link Mollyfloss - I've never actually read all the rules before! So its just the mayo...
Hope you have a lovely day in paris

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 10:48

Very interesting link Molly! One question for all those more informed than me - you know the honey thing - babies under 1 not being able to eat it? Well can you the mother eat it if you are breastfeeding, or is it only direct feeding of honey?

sagitta · 08/02/2008 10:51

I think its direct feeding of honey - but there's bound to be someone more knowledgeable than me here!

Mollyfloss · 08/02/2008 10:52

The mayo and the goats cheese! Pity i would love a goats cheese salad It's one of the things I love the most in france. I had snails last night (yum!) and a friend said I shouldn't be eating them, but in fact you can, just in case anyone wanted to know .

Mollyfloss · 08/02/2008 10:55

Actually it's a good thing none of us live in France, there is sooooo much you can't have here while pregnant... the parisians have been surprisingly attentive though. I've been offered a seat every time in the metro and even been put at the top of the queue in the supermarket! It's a bit embarrassing in fact

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 08/02/2008 11:07

Hey - enjoy it!!! It's nice to be treated special every now and again!

Sheds75 · 08/02/2008 11:08

Morning all, Molly that list is great I didn't think you could eat all that cheese

Question you lovely ladies might be able to help with. I have a company car and fuel card and can keep these whilst on ML does anyone know if I will get a huge tax bill next year when I return to work in Jan? both work and the tax office are being most unhelpful

Sheds75 · 08/02/2008 11:10

on a more light hearted note, my best friend and I have the house to ourselves on Saturday and wondered if anyone can suggest a really good Chick Flick to watch, haven't seen one in ages
