I actually got some sleep last night! Not a great deal but I went out like a light, reason for this?
Went to Tesco last night to get some cold and flu stuff for DP and got him some herbal nytol whilst I was there, and found out that although not recc'd for early pregnany or breastfeeding we can take them now! So I took two and went out like a light. DS woke up twice in the ngiht for some reason and I got up to deal with him but then went straight back to bed and managed to get quite a long sleep, was well pleased!

EllieG · 06/02/2008 11:39

Ooo I might try some of them!
Right, I HAVE to stop being on MN now as am still in pj's and is nearly mid day. What a piggy I am.
See you all later!

p.s. sorry you've been poorly soph x

Thanks Ellie. Sounds like I need some of those VS as I just can´t sleep at the moment. DH also complaining that my snoring has escalated to manic proportions. He claims he had to turn the telly up the other night after I´d gone to bed as he couldn´t hear it over my snoring

Right - really do have to go now as things to do.

sagitta · 06/02/2008 11:42

Thanks for pants offer, Knitter - but I suspect they'll be too small for me too .

I don't know about the lying flat thing Ellie - last time I didn't have a pushchair until five months - I just used my babybjorn, and so dd has never been able to lie flat when we are out. I don't think its affected her adversely... she's not the brightest, but I don't suppose that's because she didn't lie flat
TLSM - ooh, I'd be so annoyed at the nursery...is it a private one that can buy a new coat? Why on earth did they wash it?
PM - so sorry for your troubles...

sagitta · 06/02/2008 11:45

Hi Soph. Mumps? you poor thing...

rainbowdays · 06/02/2008 12:38

Peachy - hope you get those iron levels back up, sounds like you had an interesting hospital trip to say the least!

Paranoidmummy - whooo, you did have a totally unsympathetic or uncaring doc there yesterday. I hope the midwives have been of more use. You could also ask for a second opinion from another doc re scan and what you should be doing. Hope you take it easy at work today.

Soph73 - oh mumps, not nice, hope you are taking things a little easy.

Scorpio - have you poked at millie yet, was she just having a lay-in?

TLSM - wow I can understand you being cross about the coat, grrr.

EllieG - have you mentioned the itching to the mw, she might have advice for you.

OK I am feeling huge, everyone says I look huge, and I am fed up. The m/w's vaguely waved there tapemeasures across my bump and declare each time it is normal size, well just proves they cannot measure properly! I no longer comfortably fit any of my work maternity clothes and I have another 4 weeks before I leave work, I think I will be going in scruffy work mode soon. I want this baby out now! Sorry just have to vent somewhere, hope you don't mind?

scorpio1 · 06/02/2008 13:14

Yes, thanks rainbowdays she moved alot earlier, must have been sleepy and i cant always feel her when im up and busy anyway.

i too have almost had enough of being pg, alot of my trousers are starting to fit oddly - not too small but slip down, need pulling up, etc etc. i just want to wear trackie bottoms all the time!

paranoidmummy · 06/02/2008 13:23

hi everyone, thanks so much for all your lovely messages, they have cheered me up

well the good news is that i am not feeling damp anymore so it is likely to be a small leak which makes me feel a little better. i am still cross tho. spoke to my midwife and she was lovely and just said to keep a really good eye on things. she did say that she was sure things would be fine and although the dr was inexcusable the fact they are not worried is a good sign. she just said if ANYTHING doesn't feel right to go straight back.

one thing tho and this is our little secret... yest the dr reiterated what they told me on sun that in my case cos its a small leak it is fine to have baths, sex etc. well, i was feeling very cross and unloved and as they said it was ok i thought i would allow dh to do his thing well anyway, my m/w just now said she would prob advise against it even tho the dr said it was ok. whoops... i wish they would make up their fucking minds!

scorpio1 · 06/02/2008 13:44

OOOOh i forgot to tell you all - my parents have invited me out to chinese new year tomorrow night in the best chinese ever!! yay!!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 06/02/2008 13:50

Hey everyone... gosh so much going on here... Well I had my 28 week check up yesterday (can't believe I have only 12 weeks to go! And 6 weeks before I go on maternity leave - CAN'T WAIT!) Bump still the right size, baby head down now although has it's back to mine which apparently is not great but plenty of time to move?! I was a little worried that I was going to be bigger than I should be as I feel huuuuuuuuge, so reassuring to know I'm not! Have to say my back and ribs are really starting to hurt now - I imagine baby is in there hanging like a little bat with it's toes hooked on to my ribs! Anyone else battling to sleep cos your back/ribs are so sore? I hate hate hate sleeping on my side! Did my bloods yesterday too, and like you Sorpio my last iron level tests came back at 14.8 so I'm also interested to see what they are now! Really pooped today - longing for my bed already and it's only 13:50pm!!

ToastAddict · 06/02/2008 14:13

With all the talk of Monsoon and Next, I feel embarrassed to mention this, but Sainsbury's have 25% of all their clothes, til next Thursday, I think. I got some babygros there - £3 for 3! Oh, I'm such a cheapskate

Ellie - I don't want to alarm you, and I'm sure the more experienced mums will give more advice, but itching can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis - link to Babycentre info here

Obviously, it can also be just one of those joys of pregnancy, but didn't want you to ignore it....

VictorianSqualor · 06/02/2008 14:21

Oh Oh Oh, I am soooooo excited. DP and I have decided that instead of a holiday abroad we are gogn to have a week in England somewhere and.......go to......the Download Festival.
I really can't wait, need to be back in my skinny jeans by then though

VictorianSqualor · 06/02/2008 14:22

3 for £3??

northeastmummy · 06/02/2008 14:38

Ellie - it's definitely worth speaking to your midwife about the itching in case it's cholestasis. However, during my last pregnancy I had a pregnancy rash in the last week (horrible, horrible, horrible) and they were concerned about cholestasis but the itchiness is normally on your palms and the soles of your feet so is relatively easy to tell the diff between that and something else. It's also extremely rare - there are only about 3 cases a year in Aberdeen (5,000 births per year).

Soph - how horrible that you've had mumps! Hope you're starting to feel a bit better. I don't think I've ever had mumps but I've heard it's pretty awful at the best of times. I was looking for you the other day actually - we're supposed to be going to Lanzarote in a week and I know it's a long shot, but just wondered if you knew anything about the hospital there. I just want to be prepared in case!

Saying that, our plans could have been completely scuppered. Just had a call from the nursery to say DD has chicken pox ... and although she should be fine for hols, my DH doesn't think he's had it. Think I might move him into Granny's for a week.

Peachy · 06/02/2008 15:01

Ellie Backing up last post- itching should always be checked by a blood test as obstetric cholestasis can cause liver damage for Mum and stillbirth for baby, and itching can be the only sig. Its considered a call-your-MW- now emergency.

NEM not a lot of point moving DH out- chickenpox most infectious before it shows up! Assuming you've had it (?- if not sure MW can do a blood test, had one with ds3 IIRC) it's only an issue if baby were to come in the next couple of weeks.

EllieG · 06/02/2008 15:15

I don't think is anything serious as have recently had my liver function tested and all normal plus had ultrasound for gall stones etc (from last hypochondriac mad pg lady episode) at same time so think is just PG itching. And my itching is not on soles of feet or palms, but am going to antenatal anyway on fri so will check it out, thank you for concern though ladies x

Have just been out for lunch with my Dad and I couldn't fit pudding in cos baby is pressing too much on tummy now for big meals. It's a sad day when I have to pass up a portion of sticky toffee pud

Poor Mrparanoidmummy - so many mixed messages for him

vs - am very impressed and at you going to festival (and having skinny jeans too for that matter) - I thought festival days were done once having children had happened?

OP posts:
northeastmummy · 06/02/2008 15:16

Hi Peachy - yes I've had it. DH is checking with his Mum to be sure. I'm so fed up ... how typical ...

EllieG · 06/02/2008 15:22

(((((hugs))))) to NEM x

OP posts:
northeastmummy · 06/02/2008 15:35

Sorry - I shouldn't be so self absorbed - me missing a holiday is nothing in comparison to some of the things people are having to contend with ... thank you for my hug though Ellie, it does help ...

scorpio1 · 06/02/2008 15:37

oh vs that sounds nice, when are you going?

We are off to france this year. doubt we will get away just as a couple for ages, if ever! no-one really babysits for us for a whole weekend or anything.

VictorianSqualor · 06/02/2008 15:48

Me too Ellie, but DP's parents mum is good with my two anyway, let alone their first grandchild, so DP's going to ask them to have them for us, his brother is still living at home too so his brother and gf will probably help out.
Its the 13/14/15th of June, and so far we know Lostprophets and Offspring are headlining, we saw Lostprophets last year and they were awesome, and I think DP might have seen The Offspring when he was living in Cali, he says they remind him of Cali anyway.

Haven't got a clue what we'll do for the holiday for everyone now though, but booking up a caravan for a few days on the spur isn't going to be too much of a problem, we were worryign about booking up a holiday abroad anyway incase DP does get into the police force and we weren't able to go.

Scampmum · 06/02/2008 16:58

Hello all. Went to hospital this morning to have a (painful!) internal to check not in labour owing to contractions, all fine

Have been signed off for a week, though

Only bad news is I've decided I have to give up the internet (yes, including Mumsnet) for Lent as I just waste far too much time on it - not this thread as I don't consider it a waste at all and might (sshhh) drop in from time to time, but I check here then active conversations and the next thing I know I've been at it for hours.

So it's adios for 40 (well, 39) days. I'm sure you won't miss me at all but I didn't want anyone to worry! Hope you are all well in the meantime.

love to you all xxx

Scampmum · 06/02/2008 17:01

ps Ellie we did Big Chill in 2006 when DD was four months, I found it pretty tough owing mainly to keeping a totally different timetable to everyone else (e.g. getting up just as the last stragglers dragged their sorry asses to bed and the litter pickers got going)! So I personally wouldn't recommend festival WITH baby but there's nothing to stop you going away for a night of fun without!

Peachy · 06/02/2008 18:50

Glastonbury is supposed to be OK- they actually employ midwives for all the PG aldies who go, and they jhave a family areawith extra security- Dh worked it for a decade (all the local carnival clubs do, main source of income for many) and I trained as a MArshall (but didnt go, due to problems outside site as first year of The Fence). TBH we wouldnt take them this young but yeah, maybe the older ones.

Still waiting to hear from hospital if I need intravenous or not- hope not, that would be such a pain to organise (1 a week for 5 weeks if nothing), meds helping already though so fingers crossed.

VictorianSqualor · 06/02/2008 19:23

I'd take DD to a festival, at her age it wouldn;t be so bad, but tbh, I'm too selfish, If I'm going off to a festival I don't want to be having to take my kids and stay sober for any length of time
