my 20 week scan is in 2 weeks and gosh the anxiety is real. I had the worst nightmare last night that I went for the scan and they found significant abnormalities incompatible with life. Never been so upset about a dream.
It’s going to be a difficult 2 weeks 😔

Cuppasoupmonster · 30/10/2022 18:05

@Chocolat poor you what a horrible dream! I’m also worried, not hugely but I know this scan is the ‘big one’ and subtle issues are much more likely to be found than at 12 weeks. It’s normal I think, just remember the odds are very much on your side.

DD is now convinced there is a baby sister in HER tummy, as well as mine, and that what the baby is bigger it will ‘jump out’. It had better bloody not do 😂 I can’t wait to see her with her little sister, I think she’ll be slightly jealous initially but we’ve been rained in today and it’s highlighted to me how much she would benefit from a sibling to play with.

My DS nearly 9 just asked me if I'm nervous/worried about going to the hospital to get "it"

It being the baby. 🤣

He has SEN and can be a real struggle so it's nice when we have moments where we can just chat and he's calm. He hasn't really acknowledged the pregnancy tbf. He's got a little cousin 3 weeks old and he literally pays no attention to him. 🙈

Has anyone else had like mild period cramps lately? 16 weeks today and I've had mild pains since yesterday. They don't feel like the usual round ligament pain stich type pains.

Gilm0reGirl · 30/10/2022 18:55

@KennAdams I love that your son asked that question, like you're going to go pick them up! If only he knew 😆 one of my friends little boys asked when the new baby was going to go home, he was most confused when she said this is the baby's home and they live with us, I love children's thought processes sometimes.

Chocolat · 30/10/2022 19:00

@Cuppasoupmonster yep I think it is normal be anxious to a limit. I’m just praying it will all be fine as my NT was a bit high and I didn’t go for NIPT but will be relieved as long as the scan is ok.

and aww that’s so cute with DD, I wish babies did just ‘jump out’ and it was that easy 😅. I think her having a sister will be just lovely especially as they grow up together 🥰.

@KennAdams hahah I love children’s interpretations about labour and delivery 🤣

Jadex92x · 31/10/2022 05:59

@Cuppasoupmonster thank you, at first she wasnt excited she has never enjoyed being around young kids haha but she is coming round to the idea of having a little brother or sister now thankfully!

Peachesthecat · 31/10/2022 06:22

Morning ladies, how cute 😍 mine are teenagers now so more worried about if I’m going to ask them to change nappies! The bleed did stop yesterday and I have a scan at 11am. Despite hearing her heartbeat I am still so nervous. Just wan to enjoy being pregnant! Was goi g to tell my colleagues today but too anxious now 🙄 ❤️❤️

AliceinSlumberland · 31/10/2022 06:31

@Peachesthecat will be thinking of you today 💕💕

Guys I saw on an fb group that some people are taking their wedding rings off now incase their fingers swell up too much. Is this something I need to do? I love my rings I’ll be so sad not to wear them 😭

DBS94 · 31/10/2022 06:39

@Peachesthecat good luck for your scan, let us know how you get on 💕

@AliceinSlumberland I think it depends. One of My friends was able to wear hers the whole way through pregnancy and the other had to takes hers off around 15 weeks in due to swelling! I get really swollen feet but not so much hands so hoping I can wear mine for a little longer (17 weeks tomorrow). A few people I know who have had to take them off wear them on a necklace instead x

DBS94 · 31/10/2022 06:40

@KennAdams I've had days where I have period like pain too. Doesn't last for long though! I've had loads of different types of pain and it all feels different... some of it trapped wind related I think 🤣

Peachesthecat · 31/10/2022 06:44

Thank you for your well wishes ladies ❤️❤️ Will update asap! Going in to work first so at least I’ll be busy! Xxx I also get mild cramps from time to time. Midwife wasn’t concerned 🙂

ancienthouse · 31/10/2022 06:55

Just catching up with the thread!

@AliceinSlumberland some people get swollen hands/feet and others don't. I never did last time and wore my rings throughout. I've lost weight so far this pregnancy from being sick and I've actually lost a (not very expensive) ring because it fell off my finger!

ancienthouse · 31/10/2022 07:00

@Peachesthecat i hope your scan goes well today.

@Cuppasoupmonster and others, my 20 week scan is at the end of Nov and I'm already worried about it! Chances are it will be fine though.

My DD asked me how the baby will get out and if the doctor will pull it out of my tummy like they did for her (I've told her about her birth before) which is sweet. She's asked soooo many questions but thankfully hasn't asked how the baby got inside me yet because I'm not sure I can cope with explaining that to a 3 year old yet!!

Longbin · 31/10/2022 08:12

My fingers got thinner last time, even though I had put on weight. My rings kept falling off!

IvyAurora · 31/10/2022 09:08

Hello all, hope things are going well! I've been quiet on these threads because I've been trying not to overthink.

Looking for reassurance though. Am at 15 weeks and I don't feel pregnant any longer. It's quite nice but I'm also worried that something is wrong.

I've got a private scan at weekend so that will reassure me but it feels a long way off.

Is it possible for the baby to just stop thriving but stay in there? Is it normal to stop feeling pregnant?

Longbin · 31/10/2022 09:16

@IvyAurora yes it is completely normal

IvyAurora · 31/10/2022 09:27

Thank you 🙏

Deek88 · 31/10/2022 09:32

Hey everyone - catching up with the thread ☺️

quick question - anyone else still suffering with vomiting and nausea past 15 weeks? I’ve not managed to keep a meal down since Friday (fluids are fine) and wondering whether it’s worth calling the very busy midwife triage or just holding off until my midwife appt next week.

MamaMenna · 31/10/2022 09:40

@AliceinSlumberland I had to take my engagement ring off near the end last time but my wedding band remained OK! I'm not taking it off until / if it gets uncomfortable

Emeal123 · 31/10/2022 10:27

I’m behind and catching up on messages again 😂 had a very long day yesterday as my OH decided that a priority right now was to buy a caravan as it was ‘such a good deal we would be silly not to’ - not that I’m against it & it is very exciting, just maybe not the best timing finance wise 🙈 anyway was almost a whole day in the car picking it up and couldn’t look at my phone as it was making me feel so nauseous!

How was everyone else’s weekend?

@AliceinSlumberland im not sure why I was so convinced it was a girl, just really felt it strongly for the past few weeks and everyone I spoke to said girl so was such a surprise when they told me he is a boy!

@Melissa2023 thank you! Boy club 💙 and I’m just a couple of days behind you I think

@KennAdams my DS is also nearly 9 and SEN, he asked me yesterday whether the baby will come from the hospital or from the nursery lol, he does know the baby is in my tummy I’m not sure he has put the 2 and 2 together yet that baby will come out of me 😂 I explained a bit about it (not too much as we were on a public tram) and his mind was blown!

@IvyAurora I also don’t feel very pregnant at the minute but I had a private scan on Saturday and baby was very much there live and kicking! I think our placenta must have kicked in and the earlier pregnancy symptoms are not so much now, difficult not to worry but I’m hoping once I can feel baby moving around then I’ll be much more relaxed.

@Peachesthecat hope all goes well today and you can put your mind at rest 💕

RE prams and travel systems, we were offered a brand new never used pushchair/carry cot combo from a friend which is the icandy peach, it seems like it will be perfect for us and fits in my car boot which is not large. Looking at car seats to purchase on Black Friday and definitely want to find one that will clip onto the pushchair frame, it will be so helpful for things like school run when we won’t be out of the car for too long and won’t have to transfer baby etc.

I’m glad some of you have shared recommendations for baby carriers/slings as I would defo like one for this baby!

LauraA31 · 31/10/2022 11:03

Morning ladies, spotting continued all yesterday and through the night.. it seems to be worse when ive been for a wee!

I have phoned EPU again today, i know they say it can be normal but it’s happening weekly and i feel like i need some answers (if they will see me!) worried about the baby this time, luckily no blood on a pad and only there when i wipe but ive got horrible back ache with it which i know can be normal in pregnancy.

Spoke with my own GP today too as ive got the worst mucus chesty cough and it’s hurting. GP won’t prescribe any antibiotics as im pregnant even though she agrees it sounds ive got a chest infection! She asked me to ride it out two more weeks which is fine with me, GP has also asked me to take a urine sample in to rule out UTI, one because of the bleeding and stinging when i wee but also because i need to wee every half hour but only a trinkle comes out which is frustrating.

Fingers crossed we get some answers today, think it’s harder now my symptoms have eased off. Keep reminding myself im 14+3 and the chances of anything going wrong has reduced a lot!
Going to drop off my wee and go get some sweets in case any kids come round tonight, and if not i get to eat all the wonderful goodies! (im sure the boyfriend only buys sweets so he can eat them when nobody turns up haha)

Hope everybody is having a good day and keeping well! X

alwaysseeingstars · 31/10/2022 11:37

@LauraA31 sorry to hear you're having this again, the worry is bad enough in pregnancy without unexplained bleeding! I really hope you can get some answers from EPU/your GP soon. Great idea re the sweeties!!
@Peachesthecat hope all goes well for you today too!

Peachesthecat · 31/10/2022 12:02

Hi lovely ladies, quick update. Scan was all good. This lazy little baby was chilling out and all seems well. They can’t find any reason for the bleeding which is a little frustrating but also if it does happen again hopefully
i won’t panic as much 🤔😂 I know a few others here have had spotting and things so please know that at This stage it probably doesn’t mean anything too worrying and can just be one of those things xxxx

xalexandra · 31/10/2022 12:12

@Peachesthecat that's really good to hear 🥳 I'm 15+4 and at 12 weeks I had spotting and seemed to lose a lot of clear fluid and I just thought the worst! They couldn't find an answer to that either and it was hard to believe everything was fine because you just have bad thoughts! But I guess they are the experts. You just feel like you really want an answer as to why these things happen but I suppose our body just does these weird things during pregnancy sometimes with no explanation and everyone's different xx

LauraA31 · 31/10/2022 12:30

@Peachesthecat im so glad everything was fine for you! X

EPU have phoned, the nurse was so kind i cried 🤦🏼‍♀️
They are re-scanning me tomorrow as she said we need to try get to the bottom of the bleeds, she told me to be positive and strong but if i bleed more or have stomach cramps ring her straight back..
She did say im probably one of the ladies who will
spot throughout, but then she said in several weeks i will be feeling movement and the worry won’t be as severe.. (then she said the real worry will start when baby is born 😂)

I said to the boyfriend this morning, i can count on one hand the amount of times ive been to the GP/hospital in the last 10 years and then i get pregnant and they all know me at EPU 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ thankfully i have a wonderful EPU who strongly encourage ladies to ring at the sign of any blood/spotting!
