I’m sure Gary will be back in 10 years! 😆

@AliceinSlumberland oh I get you I am STARVING all the time. When I’m not eating I’m thinking about food. 6 weeks of hardly eating has sent me into hibernation mode, like my body just wants to gorge now I’ve woken up from a long winter or something 🤯

@Longbin thanks for mentioning about the Chico Next2Me crib, went to two Aldi's first thing this morning and managed to find one! It was also reduced further to £50, so what a bargain! Box was a bit damaged but hopefully contents are ok 🤞so happy. First baby purchase for me 😆

tattlytote · 22/10/2022 11:19

That's so good for the next2me, I was chuffed with the £69 I got! Has anyone checked if it includes a mattress? Mines gone to my parents for storage until nearer the time

DBS94 · 22/10/2022 11:26

I couldn't get the Next2Me in any Aldi ☹️ but thankfully a family friend had a Tutti Bambini Cozee beside crib barely used which she is gifting me 🎉 just going to get a new mattress and it'll be good as new x

PuddingBear · 22/10/2022 12:10

@DBS94 We have the tutti bambini from my first born. She slept in it until 1 year old!

She’s small though and been now at nearly two still fits in it lengthwise, she just doesn’t sleep in it because obviously she can stand and walk and so on 😅

It’s a really great next-to-me 😊

PuddingBear · 22/10/2022 12:11

*even not been

DBS94 · 22/10/2022 12:28

@PuddingBear that's great to hear! I was really chuffed when we were offered it, there just seems so much to buy it's nice to get things ticked off.

Do you know if the only compatible mattress needs to come from them direct?

PuddingBear · 22/10/2022 12:35

@DBS94 No, as long as it’s the right brand and size for it you can buy it off Amazon/very/anywhere else that sells it 😊

LauraA31 · 22/10/2022 13:23

Afternoon ladies; well i am poorly for the first time this year! Sore throat, sneezing and blocked nose and freezing cold!
So hard especially when you can’t take anything to help you, off for some honey and lemon this afternoon to ease the throat but going to have an evening in bed with cups of tea/hot chocolate to try brighten me up a little bit!

Hope everybody else is doing ok!

Theowlwhowasafraid · 22/10/2022 13:34

Names are so tricky! I always find the hardest bit is getting your partner to agree 😂 I had so many girls names lined up but he said no to most of them! We had two names until she was born and she was clearly not an Emma. Emma is still on the table for baby #2 if she’s a girl but I’m not sure if it goes with my daughters name. If we have a girl I want to call her Quinn but I think my husband will definitely object 😂

Boys names I find so hard! Again my husband is really fussy lol I really like Caleb, Zach and similar but he’s said no to everything haha

Gilm0reGirl · 22/10/2022 13:41

We have our names sown up I think, we have two firm favourites for each and a few back ups. One of the firm favourites for a boy is a bit on the rare side, dh loves it, I love it, I just don't think I have the balls to use it. My father in law couldn't pronounce Elodie for at least a couple of weeks after she was born despite me saying it's just melody without the "M" (he used to show it to people on his phone written out because he couldn't get his head round it) so I think this particular boys name, while easy to pronounce, will go down like a lead balloon.

Longbin · 22/10/2022 15:12

@Gilm0reGirl I have no idea how anyone could ever not pronounce Elodie. My Nan doesn't make an effort to pronounce my daughters name and I find it quite rude!

I think it’s a form of ‘protest’ that ‘our names are so modern and odd these days’ etc. My Nan asked if DD’s name was her surname 😳 its in the top 15 and isn’t at all unusual.

This is why it would be nice to have a WhatsApp group as I'm so curious as to what your children are called and want to share DDs name! Haha! Let's do it soon.

Loving the name chat, I also like traditional names but also like a few more unusual ones. Haven't thought much about names yet tbh, but for boys I've always loved Arthur (although due to how common it is I've gone off it a bit lately) and Forrest. Forrest is a bit unusual I know but I think it's great - quite American I guess. I also like Owen, Eamon, Zachary, Dimitri, Rafael and Rafferty... And for girls I'm really not sure but some on my list in Clyde Sophia, Eva, Alba, Alma, Ailsa, Lily, Luna. I love Elodie too, very pretty! Might add that to the list 😏 I love Amelie too but we have a close relative with that name so probably couldnt use it

I wanted a name ending in "ah" for DD but not so wedded to this this time.

Skylark1990 · 22/10/2022 16:07

*include, not Clyde!

Someone asked about whether the Chico next to me has a mattress included. Yes it should do although I've heard mixed views on how good it is. We bought ours second hand so bought a new mattress and didn't use the one that came with it. You can get the mattress with the right dimensions online at Amazon and e.g. you can get a compatible one from places like little green sheep (a natural baby products company - that's where we got our Chico compatible mattress from)

Skylark1990 · 22/10/2022 16:08

@lj2022 sorry to hear about your pelvic pain. it could be the start of pelvic girdle pain, definitely talk to midwife and also look into seeing a physio!

DBS94 · 22/10/2022 16:34

We are nowhere near agreeing on names 😂 we find our gender on Thursday so I think that will help.

My husband's name is David and so is his fathers name and grandfathers name etc etc so he feels VERY strongly that if the baby is a boy that's what he wants but I just can't take to it. If anyone in Britain has watched 'Royle Family' then they'll know "baby David" and that's all that runs through my head 😂

Chocolat · 22/10/2022 17:00

Names are by far the most difficult thing in this pregnancy. I’m Asian so looking at those types of names but also want them to sound modern and not the typical ‘Zayn’ which I think half of the Asian children are now being named lol. Me and DH do not agree on any, he likes the name Ayden, which I’m considering but still not sure…
For girls I think Alayna or Kaia so far but i really think it’s going to be a boy 😂

@Skylark1990 you have a lovely selection of names there! I like Eamon in particular and Rafferty is also lovely and not common at all as I don’t think I’ve heard it before

@DBS94 that is a lot of Davids😂 could you compromise on it being a middle name?

Marshmallowmountain · 22/10/2022 17:34

@MamaMenna no, no preference I just don’t want to buy things and then they’re wrong 😂

@Gilm0reGirl thats reassuring to hear! I think I’ll hold off on any pink purchases until I’ve had a 16 week scan for double confirmation!

Indianna2006 · 22/10/2022 17:45

I had my results back today for combined screening.
I basically got 1 in 2000 for downs and 1 in 100,000 for edwards of pataus.
I had 1 in 10,000 chance for down with my DD but I was 5 years younger. And been sicker this pregnancy so imagine my hcg is higher in my bloods.

I feel it makes the risk low compared to lots others. I am 32.

not sure if that’s standard for my age or seems high.

Skylark1990 · 22/10/2022 17:59

@Chocolat thanks! It was really just writing down a few that came to mind as haven't done a dedicated list yet for this baby! Ayden is nice. I also like Aiden / Aidan, it's Irish for little fire 🔥

@Indianna2006 this is basically what I got too - they're good low risk results! I did get a bit worried about the downs numbers - mostly just because I'd heard of others getting much lower low risk results but I did loads of research, called the hospital to ask questions, spent days feeling anxious then finally started feeling fine especially after I spoke to the sonographer who did my scan who really reassured me both about the numbers being really good but also she mentioned she'd seen the nasal bone in the scan which is a v good indicator that everything is fine, plus she said they do a thorough check at the 20 week scan too. So I wouldnt worry if I were you - enjoy the fact you are low risk! But I do get it if you do feel worried. The HCG was a bit higher but still "totally within normal range" so think that may have contributed to the numbers. I'm just hoping I don't get anxious about it again, but I do feel much better now. Did they give you your blood results too? X

Indianna2006 · 22/10/2022 18:05

@Skylark1990 no they didn’t. They just gave me the numbers. But I never thought about it much with DD when it was 1 in 10,000. Even tho ppl get like 1 in 65,000 some ppl. It seems such a varied range lol.
i did work out the percentage to be 0.050 which is very small.
man’s I have had two friends get high results in under 1/150 and both babies were absolutely fine. But of course. Someone can always be that one even with 1/65,000.
my sonographer said everything looked well and healthy and she said the NT measurement was very low which was lovely and reassuring to me at the time. So my bloods must have made it higher I imagine. But baby looked all well as far as she could tell.
you feel silly worrying when ppl get high results dont you. And you’ve gotten low. But it’s just that always unknown what if I think

Melissa2023 · 22/10/2022 18:15

@DBS94 oh god I am also struggling to hold back Team David - though thankfully we have agreed on a different first name he wants David as a middle name after his Dad and I just can't seem to get onboard the David train

DBS94 · 22/10/2022 20:31

@Melissa2023 I think I'm going to try and get him to meet in the middle and use it as a middle name too. Not going to bring it up until we know the gender though so could be an argument for nothing 😂 x

You need Layla in your list I think 😍 Those are such lovely babes give chosen.

I’m loving seeing peoples ideas. My daughter is ending up with what name our future additional dog was going to have. we were convinced we were having a boy and had a girls name straight away. We said “oh well we will just call the dog that name instead” 🤣 Now the new dog can’t have it as it’s a girl 🤣
