Good morning Ladies. I got my BFP yesterday! I did another test with DH there this morning and got a less BFP but I'm going to go with the 'a line is a line is a baby' approach This will be DC2. DD is 8.5mo (yes we are offically mad as hatters especially since DD was born at 34+6!)

I already have quite strong symptoms which is reassuring if a little annoying that I already heave when giving DD her breakfast.

Julezboo · 12/02/2008 10:53

Hey girls

just wanted to pop in and say hi! How are you all?

Im still spotting my Haematoma, nothing worse yet and the sickness is really bad. In to minds whether to pop into EPAU tomorrow morning whilst im up at the hospital with ds to see what they think. Just feel so crap, not keeping anything down at all... Not even water. Im shakey, dizzy, weak and just want to sleep x

loulou33 · 12/02/2008 12:47

Julezboo, if you are not keeping even water down you need to see someone as easy to get dehydrated. A lot of women can end up in hosp on drip to rehydrate them - i would call them to check.... not trying to scare you at all but important to let them know if ms is so bad,..... take care

Julezboo · 12/02/2008 12:54

thanks lou, i have called them, i am sipping water so far so good. I am so hungry!

Hoonette · 12/02/2008 13:13

Welcome and congrats to Swaliswan

Tedmundo & MTW - I'll also be at Southmead! I was in their Birth Suite (low-tech midwife-led bit) last time and can recommend it.

Julez thinking of you; hope it all works out ok and you start feeling better soon.

Swaliswan · 12/02/2008 13:18

Julezboo, how long have you not been able to keep water down for? I would go and see your GP if it has been going on for more than just the morning. A lot of doctors are very reluctant to treat sickness in pregnancy because of the thalidimide thing. You may need to be very forceful with your GP. It is important that you get treated sooner rather than later. I had hyperemesis with my last pg and am waiting for the actual throwing up to start. Do not do what I did last time and try to soldier on. You won't get a medal for being the best at throwing up, so you might as well get treated.

If it continues, there are a number of suggested self-help measures you could try on the blooming awful website. Try not to get too annoyed at all the people telling you to 'just eat a dry biscuit and you'll feel so much better'

loulou33 · 12/02/2008 13:19

If you're hungry its a good sign - nibble a water biscuit/cracker and progress from there. I find its a viscious circle, if i don't eat, i feel sick and get more sick the less i eat but as soon as i eat a dry cracker, i want more food. BTW just eaten a huge lunch and still want more so off to the shops to buy sweeties!!!! Do you want anything while i'm there

loulou33 · 12/02/2008 13:20

Sorry - i just did that swaliswan - lou now going to the shop with head bowed....

Swaliswan · 12/02/2008 13:36

Lou your made me PMSL! I'm not saying that dry crackers don't work, for some people they do. I could have written any number of suggestions there. I remember very vividly wanting to rip my boss's head off when she told me to 'just eat a dry cracker' as if I hadn't already tried every possible remedy and wanted to be off work sick. There are many remedies that work very effectively for normal morning sickness, but not even being able to keep down water is a bit worse than just your average ms.

Incidentally, Julez, I know many women with severe pregnancy related sickness struggle to keep water down but can sometimes keep other things down. I can't remember the reason for it, but there is a proper medical reason as to why plain water can make things worse. The only thing you have to do now is find out what works for you...easier said than done I know.

Swaliswan · 12/02/2008 13:37

Oh, and your thing that works for you could very well be a cracker or water biscuit

loulou33 · 12/02/2008 13:53

Quite right swaliswan, there's a huge difference between ms and extreme ms - phew still digging the hole!! You'd be suprised at the number of my friends with normal ms haven't even tried the biscuit theory, but i too would have killed your boss....

daisyj · 12/02/2008 13:58

Oh my god. I've just reread page 15 of the thread, which I skimmed over the weekend. Bethoo 'may have been reabsorbed' into your body. WHAT! That sounds like sci fi. Now I'm really worried! I'm trying to convince myself that the very vague occasional queasiness I'm having is a symptom of a real actual pregnancy, and not just a result of the fact that I work in a windowless office the size of a large cupboard! But I must say the possibility of an reverse-Alien-style 'reabsorption' had never occurred to me...

Never thought the hardest part of all this would be keeping it quiet at work. Have some really good friends here, and it's killing me! I feel like I'm lying every day. Particularly as there are lots of work-related social events at the moment, and I seem to feel the need to ramble senselessly to explain my not drinking, rather than just keeping my mouth shut and hoping no one notices. Was at a party last night, and soooo jealous of my big fat at-least-six-months, doesn't-have-to-pretend-anymore colleague.

f1nut · 12/02/2008 14:14

hi can i join you im shell mum of 3 so this is my 4th pregnancy, been trying for 16months, due 8/9th oct, sooooo excited, love to chat to other mums due around same time xx

daisyj · 12/02/2008 14:36

amggill · 12/02/2008 14:54

any 1st-time mums out there due in Oct. 2008 in the Suffolk/Cambridge area?

pepperrabbit · 12/02/2008 17:09

Has anyone else used the "I've given up alcohol for Lent" line. It's working a treat for me at the mo, and my SIL, who is deeply suspicious was fobbed off when I "confided" that we'd been trying for a while and I thought it would help if I changed my lifestyle as early as poss....
Not quite lying, but 5 weeks is way to early to tell.
Obviously if you're a raving agnostic this might be treated with even more suspicion
Has everyone else been to the doctor already? I'm kind of thinking of waiting till 8 weeks or so.
And am I officially the oldest woman here (at 39...)?
Welcome new BFPs - hope everyone feels poorly soon!! (try a dry cracker )

SydneyB · 12/02/2008 17:30

Hello all and welcome new bfps! I am officially feeling ghastly. In fact, even being on here is making me gag. Going away now and hoping I'll be back tomorrow. Why do we wish for symptoms?? Thing is that with DD I was sick all the way through and now its worse as I know it won't necessarily end in few weeks. [sorry for self emoticon]

Hoonette · 12/02/2008 17:36

Bit of news for the Bristol women:
I picked up my booking-in pack today and it says 'North Bristol NHS Trust currently offers routine dating scans.' If this means what I think it means, we could be getting the free 12-week scan after all!

sambrads · 12/02/2008 17:39

Not a raving agnostic, but a non-raving Jew, so, sadly, the Lent excuse is out for me. I did use the 'trying to have a baby' (see what I did there?!) excuse with my sister-in-law and my husband's two cousins the other day, one of whom is pretty much the town crier, so if she suspects then the cat's well and truly out the bag.

Went to the doc on Monday, and he sent sample to hospital for testing. Have to go back next week for referral. I thought it might be good to get into the system as I'm new to this... Nice to see I'm not the oldest, though (at 35)

Asked if he'd refer me to St Thomas's (trying to avoid 'faiilng' Lewisham), and he said last time they tried to refer someone, St Thomas's said no - can they do that? Lewisham is in the catchment, according to the St Thomas's website, and I thought you were allowed to choose. Anyone know the score with that?

I must stop writing essays, sorry...

Sprogstersmum · 12/02/2008 19:49

Hello can I join you? Had bfp a week and a half ago but mced last time at 5+2wks so didn't dare post but am now past that now which is no guarantee I know but you know how it is! Have DD who is 2 and a half and dc2 due 11th Oct. Took longer than expected to conceive so gap a bit bigger than I hoped - oh and I'm 36.

07mumstheword · 12/02/2008 19:53

Welcome to all the newbies especially Swaliswan from the symptoms thread.

Hoonette That sounds really good, did you get your booking in pack from your midwife? If you get any more info on that I'd be really interested to hear.

07mumstheword · 12/02/2008 19:56

Hi Sprogstersmum Congratulations I mc'd 5+3 so I understand what you mean. Let's hope these are super sticky

I'm 35 in June, we all seem like we are similar ages except our super fit Sam

Swaliswan · 12/02/2008 20:10

Hi 07MTW

I'm not quite as young as Sam, but I am another baby of the group. I celebrated my 25th just over a week ago.

Anybody else fed-up of these first trimester cramps? I remember them well from last time, but I can't be bothered to sit here any longer wondering if they are just typical implantation/first trimester stuff or if they are more sinister. Ho hum, roll on the second trimester
