Time for new thread. I'll add a link on the old one.

Charley, it depends on your NHS area...mine doesn't do it on the NHS, but others do, your MW will be able to tell you, or maybe try phoning the hospital itself.

McMudda the bounty website has a hospitals section on their discussions board where people post good/bad etc about various hospitals...yours could be on there.

sweetheart · 30/11/2004 17:00

OK well I've done all the last min cramming I can to fail my exam tomorrow so I'm off!!!!!

Wish me luck!!!!

Uwila · 30/11/2004 17:08

Good luck, Sweetheart!!

I guess now that the day is nearing an end we are due to finalise our lunch plan.

22 Jan at Rainforest Cafe on Shaftsbury. Is this right? How about 12:00?

How many are in?

Good luck Sweetheart!

Nice to see you again Charleypops, I wondered whether you'd come back when a new thread was started. Have you got a scan coming up soon?

Well, had a very unsuccessful shopping trip - didn't buy anything apart from lunch and then tea and cake . Nice day though!

Better be off and make tea I suppose. Not that I really need any more food after all that cake...

MrsWednesday · 30/11/2004 20:44

Mcmudda, found this link on another site, it gives information about hospitals. Not sure if this is what you're after?

local hospital info

JonahB · 30/11/2004 20:50

Hi All,

Thanks for all your headache advice. Its a big comfort in my (numerous) panic moments to know we are all going through the same things.

Mrs Wed/Sweetheart, so glad your scans went well, Mrs Wed, sorry the shopping trip didn't end in a large credit card bill. Still, cake makes up for a lot....

Oh, and good luck sweetheart!!!!!!

My only news is that I had the embarrassment of having to go into a tattoo parlour yesterday, to ask if anyone there could remove my belly ring (still there from when I used to be young and trendy). Try as he might, my DH's plyers (I am not joking) weren't doing the job. Luckily Tattoo manager was very nice and helped me out. Says he sees this all the time.......

mcmudda · 30/11/2004 22:47

Thanks Mrs Wed. Bizarrely that site doesn't include the biggest maternity hospital in Glasgow - the Princess Royal - it's as if it never existed - spooky.....

Charleypops - i have that same taste in my mouth all the time - it's like I've not brushed my teeth for days, even if I cleaned them 1/2 an hour ago!

charleypops · 01/12/2004 00:02

Hi MrsW. My scan's on Monday
Nearly alll my shopping trips are unsuccessful. I'm so rubbish at it. I ususally just end up with a book! Dp took me shopping on Friday determined to finally buy me some new clothes, half way through he decided he wanted a ceasar salad. I wasn't hungry at all and was just going to have a tea but somehow ended up getting a massive pile of chips that were bigger than my stomach, I ate every single one Then wanted to go home. And that was it. Still in my old rags. Some of my jeans have shrunk a bit lately though so I'm going to have to try again soon. I'm such an awkward size though it's always a nightmare.

McMudda - Don't eat Marmite! I normally love it, but had some the other morning and it really exacerbated that horrible taste and it seemed to be a lot worse for a couple of days later. Have you been getting ms? Just wondering if we might get one or the other - taste or sickness, or if some poor souls get both. Do you think we'll have it til the end? I've got a feeling it's here to stay...

Tessiebear · 01/12/2004 09:58

Morning all!
Charleypops - that horrid taste will go! It usually goes with me by about 12 weeks.
Jonah - I had to take my belly ring out when pg with DS1. After he was born i was determined to reclaim my lost youth and i had it done again. After a few months i realised i was never actually going to show off my wrinkly, boil in the bag looking belly again and removed it for good!!!!
Well the good news is for me that i am starting to feel better!!! Not so sick (have just sat down to my usual breakfast of toast and tea - something i have not been able to drink for weeks!!! Any feelings of nausea i do get happen quite infrequently and i seem to have more energy too (am also sleeping better at night!) So all round good news for me. I am also not worried about my decline in symptoms at nearly 10 weeks as the same happened with my 2 DS's.
Hope everyone is well on this Wednesday morning - you will see a happier Tessie from now on - thanks for all your support though through my bleek, sicky times - it really helped me get through it.

MrsWednesday · 01/12/2004 10:12

Charleypops, I'm glad I'm not the only crap shopper around here. I sometimes feel like I'm not a proper woman because I'm so rubbish at it! And I hate, hate, hate it. Shudder. I always end up stressed and miserable. Hence why I spent most of yesterday in food places, scoffing.

OK, so my body is playing a really mean trick on me - I'm gradually suffering more and more morning sickness...at 12 weeks! I was so queasy last night (I think being on the computer set me off) that I couldn't make or eat any tea, and I'm still feeling the same today, but hungry at the same time.

JonahB - all I can say is 'ouch' . I held my stomach when I read your message!

Tessiebear · 01/12/2004 10:14

Oh Mrs Wed - poor you - huge sympathy (prehaps just a blip?)

MrsWednesday · 01/12/2004 10:30

I blame you Tessiebear - you're feeling better, I'm feeling worse...you've passed it on to me when we've been sharing a thread!

I'm really glad you're feeling better. Just in time for all that lovely Christmas food - you deserve a big festive feast.

Tessiebear · 01/12/2004 10:59

Mrs W - go and "tag" someone on the July or August thread with your sickness ... its their time for it now after all
I will be eating well at xmas although i have already put on loads of weight - eating has been the only thing that has stopped me feeling sick for just a moment in the last month!

teabelly · 01/12/2004 11:45

Morning ladies,

Charley, what on earth are you doing up at that time? I can barely last til 9.30!

Tessie, glad you're feeling better, I was the same as you only eating would ease the nausea feelings...haven't dared weigh myself though I'm sure I've put on tons of weight!!

Mrs W , practice makes perfect with the shopping, he he he Sorry you've caught the nausea feeling this late in...how was your other pg? Maybe this is a girl!

Have many people told their bosses yet? I meant to do it last week, but he was in a grumpy mood, and this week he's been in all day meetings...may try this afternoon if he's around for more than two secs, if I can't get him then it'll have to wait until monday when I'm back in, and by then I'll be 15 weeks, eek!

Uwila following on from your message yesterday, yup I think we're agreed on 22nd Jan, Rainforest Cafe...12 noon sounds good - esp for those with dd's/ds's coming. So far I think we've got;

Uwila, dd, (dh??)
Teabelly, ds
Scraggy (dh??)
Welshmum, (dd/dh??)
Megi, (dd/dh??)
?? Lipstickmum, dd, dh
?? Sweetheart, dd, dh

not sure about anyone else who can get to London.

LipstickMum · 01/12/2004 12:32

Hi Gals

I was going to say, it sounds like we are all getting over our sickness, but I see Mrs W you are still suffering. Bad luck. I have felt much better this last couple of days, just starving instead. I have 2 samosa's warming in the oven for my lunch

I haven't got the weird metallic taste, thank goodness, the only thing I have is/was sickness.

I'm afraid I'm not sure about the London meet-up. It means coming into London on a Saturday which is a bit of a drag as it's so busy. Plus dp gets a bit shirty if I 'take dd away' at the weekend when he wants to spend time with her! I can assure you, he would not want to meet up (are partners invited?). So, the other option is that I come on my own, but I'm sure you all will be bringing beautiful siblings along... I shall mull it over.

Samosa time!

MrsWednesday · 01/12/2004 12:45

Tessiebear, I've just tried lurking on the July board but it doesn't seem to work. Perhaps I have to actually post a message.

I don't remember having any sickness at all with my DS, so you could be right Teabelly, perhaps it is a girl. Do you all have a gut feeling about what you're having this time round? Strangely, I am completely undecided so far on this one but with my DS I always guessed it was a boy.

Teabelly, I told my boss really early - he's a lovely man who has been kind and supportive this year when I had my missed m/c so I thought it would just be easier to tell him early. Hope it goes ok for you today (if you manage to catch him today). I presume you're not showing too much if you're nearly 15 weeks and they haven't noticed?

mcmudda · 01/12/2004 12:51

charleypops - it could be the Marmite - I live for the stuff! And although I've only actually been sick 4/5 times, I'm still feeling nauseous from time to time although it's definitely easing off. Maybe I should invest in some good mouthwash!

While i'm here - does anyone know why we shouldn't do any lifting whilst preg? I need to bring baskets of logs in to the house from our shed 3/4 times a day, otherwise we'll freeze. I can feel it straining around my tummy.

I'm trying to convince dh that heavy lifting is bad, but haven't found any real evidence to scare him with. But I know it can't be good!

When I told him this morning that the house was freezing he said to go upstairs and carry down our oil filled radiator!!!

Come on ladies bring on the websites so I can brandish them at him when he comes home!!

(And we are getting an alternative form of heating ASAP, but not soon enough for my liking )

LipstickMum · 01/12/2004 13:05

Mcmudda I have no idea why heavy lifting is not advisable during pregnancy, but I would be careful lifting heavy logs. Any way you can leave a day or 2's worth outside the back door or something?? In an old bin to keep them dry??

Uwila · 01/12/2004 13:19

Heavy lifting is bad because the surge of hormones makes your ligament soften so that they can stretch (in your belly and hips especially) where they need to. However, the rest of your ligaments are also susceptible to stretching. And if you stretch them when you are pregnant, I think you risk permanent damage.

I know a little about a stretched/torn ligament because I tore my ACL (through middle of knee) skiing about 10 years ago. In the same stunt I also stretched my MCL (inner side of knee). The MCL healed itself. But, apparently an ACL does not posess such capability. In the end I had surgery to replace the ligament.

I now fear any damage to ligaments. Your DH needs to carry those logs in when he is home. If you have to go get them, you should get one at a time (assuming they are small).

Tessiebear · 01/12/2004 13:24

Have been racking my brains for something intelligent to say on the subject of lifting during pregnancy - but Uwilla has done it better than i ever could! Think that about sums it up - isnt there also a link to lifting heavy things and miscarriage in early pregnancy?

LipstickMum · 01/12/2004 13:33

Yeah there is, but that's what I was trying to think of and couldn't really!

Uwila · 01/12/2004 13:47

Try this...

Not great, but gives a little information.

teabelly · 01/12/2004 16:15

Well girls I finally managed to grab a few mins with the boss and told him....and he was fab - although it's gonna take a while for it to sink in that I'll be off for seven months!

Mrs W - I think I'm showing loads but the boss just said 'I thought you'd been eating rather well lately'!! I flit from wanting a girl cos I have ds already to wanting another boy cos I know what to do with them and it would probably be a better play mate for ds. But if I've seen myself with any child it's always been a girl, so I would be very happy if it was a girl, but not unhappy if it's a boy. DH wants another boy, and most of the chinese charts and the wedding ring test say boy so I'm thinking boy at the moment, and will wait to find out if I can at my 21 week scan.

McMudda found another site that might help your cause, here - good luck with the persuading

mcmudda · 01/12/2004 16:21

Thanks everyone for the ammunition

Dh does his best to bring in the logs the night before, but I just don't think he realises that I'm being serious about the not lifting thing. He seems to think it's cos I'm tired or sick, not because I really shouldn't. He won't let me near a peanut, but wants me to lift our packing crates from our move! Argh!

MrsWednesday · 01/12/2004 16:38

Phew, glad it went well Teabelly. Funnily enough, the way you've described how you feel about boys and girls is pretty much how I feel too. Would love my DS to have a little brother as play-mate, and I know what to do with boys, but part of me feels a yearning for a little girl. So, round and round in circles I go!

Have gone all shy about telling people that I'm pregnant for some reason. I thought I'd rush into work and tell the whole place today (now that I'm 12 weeks) but I feel too embarrassed. I think I'll just wait until people notice - surprised they haven't so far because I look at least five months gone.
