Time for new thread. I'll add a link on the old one.

There is NO WAY you are driving 3 hours up and 3 hours back in one day. You will make yourself ill - believe me, I have to travel for work, and one day I overdid it and made myself very poorly, which couldn't have been good for either me or bump. (Sorry, if this offends you, I just don't want you making yourself ill).

No, it's the train I'm afraid. Or why don't you bring dh and dd for the w/e too? They can go off to the park or sthg while we have our relaxation afternoon?

Uwila · 10/12/2004 16:53

Yeah, maybe they could come too. But, then I will have to look after DD.

We get loads of Holiday Inn points caus DH stays in one all week every week in Birmingham. So maybe we could do that and it wouldn't add to the cost of the trip.

What are the rest of you doing? Bringing partners?

OP posts:
Uwila · 10/12/2004 16:56

What the heck am I saying. He leaves all week long, every week and I look after DD every night and early morning. Why don't I just go get the hotel and he can stay home with DD (of course I'd miss her loads but it would lots of fun)

OP posts:
Scraggyaggy · 10/12/2004 16:57

Uwila - Do you have a buddy you could bring? Non-pg or pg, doesn't matter? Then you can make a good w/e of it!

JonahB · 10/12/2004 17:44

Uwila, I was going to suggest the same thing. Bring a mate along. You dont want to be stuck in a hotel overnight on your own. That wouldn't be fun.

Isn't Sunbury near Staines? I do drive a lot for my work and I do 3 hours there and back in a day. Its do-able, but not terribly enjoyable with your bump aching and the seatbelt digging in. The advantage of bringing someone with you is you can share the driving.

I wasn't going to bring my partner. This is no disrespect to anyone, but the idea of about 8 over-hormonal pgt women in a confined space discussing our umpleasant symptons, would be his idea of hell. Other peoples partners are probably much more tolerant than my DH though...

LipstickMum · 10/12/2004 19:45

Mrs W, thank you for approving of me letting of steam Blush I was just having a rant honest.

Now, this northern meet-up seems very glam?? I thought you were just going to get together in a "Roys Rolls" type cafe..??!! Just as I thought our southern meet was going to be in "the caff"...?? Hmmm

Scraggy, I don't think aromatherapy per se is bad during pregnancy, but certain oils would defintitely not be used. I wasn't allowed to have it because it was the policy of the spa I went to. As for the hydrotherapy pool, I don't know for sure you wont be able to use it, but it is worth checking these things out. As you are past 12 weeks it is probably ok, just check so you're not disappointed.

I am looking forward to a nice fish and chip supper in front of Eastenders Grin

Where are Tessiebear and Welshie?...

Uwila · 10/12/2004 20:10

Uh, Lipstick mum, I'm sort of feeling like I jumped on you now about the other thread. Didn't mean to be harsh. I guess there's just so much bashing that go on around mumsnet threads these days, and this on eis so happy and peaceful and supportive, so I maybe overreacted a bit to save my nice peaceful thread... I hope you weren't offended.

Are any other Southerners going to crash the spa weekend?

OP posts:
Scraggyaggy · 11/12/2004 07:53

Morning all!

Am up so early as dp and I had an argument last night which culminated in me going to bed and him to the pub! Sad I wish I could've gone to the pub to let off steam!!

Lipstick - Am going to call the spa place today. at first I didn't think it was a problem and now I'm a bit worried, so better to be safe than sorry as they say.

Uwila - I'm a southerner, gate-crashing the northern do, only I'm in Swansea which is completely the other side of the country to you, otherwise I'd have driven up with you.

LipstickMum · 11/12/2004 12:38

Uwila, it's fine. I was being semi-serious about the thread. Just wasn't in the mood to give a shit about who is putting gold baubles on their tree instead of silver ya know..?

I certainly agree with you about the bullying and bashing that goes on. Tbh a lot of the time I steer clear of writing controversial things, rightly or wrongly. It's not in my nature to cause a stir and it's also incredibly difficult to have a 'debate' on here due to timing, people mis-interpreting the way something is written etc etc.
Anyway, not going to go on about it for a second longer.
Am already in a bad mood this weekend for various housework related reasons Angry

What's everyone else up to?

BUBBALOO · 11/12/2004 14:04

hi everyone,
have just finished wrapping some last minute pressies and listing stuff on ebay so thought i'd see what your all up toSmile.going to a "queen" tribute night tonight with dh and friends(im a BIG queen fan!!)so looking forward to that and the 5 course meal that goes with itGrin.sorry to bring it up but is anyone else suffering from really bad constipation? i suffer badly from IBS but im normally dashing to the loo instead of trying to go,so it made a nice change to start with but now its really annoying!
im eating lots of fruit and veg but its not helping.anyone know of anything thats effective and safe to take, please?Smile

MrsWednesday · 11/12/2004 20:36

Bubbaloo, I notice that if I don't enough apples (or fruit in general) that causes me all sorts of problems. I suffered terribly in the earlier weeks and other advice I was given was to drink Yakult yoghurts. I've been drinking the Actimel ones (because they are always on special offer at my local supermarket) and they seem to work, combined with tonnes of apples (4 or 5 a day!) and loads of water.

Lipstickmum, hope your housework-related issues have resolved themselves! Just spent the day with my in-laws - always a challenge, even more so today as I've been really, really sick. In fact, I threw up for the first time this pregnancy yesterday!!! Why now? It's very odd.

Still no sign of Tessiebear? Cobweb? There are lots of people who haven't been around recently.

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend.x

BUBBALOO · 12/12/2004 13:15

thanks mrs w-i'll bear that in mindSmile i really like those actimel drinks anyway so i'll get some of those.only thing is i dont want to over-do it and go back to how i was pre-pregancy!!
how strange you've started to be sick now-i havent been sick once YET so i hope i dont start now.
hope everyones had a nice weekend xx

teabelly · 13/12/2004 09:28

Morning all,

Wow the Northen meet looks fab...would need to know the date (unfortunately have lots of family brithdays in March!!) but would love to come if able - wouldn't bring dh - as someone else said about their dh...it would be his worst nightmare, a clan of hormonal pg woman Grin

Had a fab weekend, put the tree up with ds's help (and then had to re-do it once he'd gone to bed)Wink. Was taken out for a superb meal by dh, and then had a out with meal with friends yesterday (obviously food is very very important in my life!!Grin)...and then I have the day off tomorrow ...and all because it's my birthday tomorrow, yippee!! Smile

Mrs W sorry you're feeling so bad this late into the pg...must be a girl!

Berolina, a little boy Smile congrats...they're fab...have you got a final name yet?

Good luck to those with scans today and tomorrow.

Re the movements...I've started feeling the sensations I felt last time about a fortnight before I actually became aware I was feeling movements...I was 16 weeks on saturday so I guess this is about right for a 2nd timer, although with ds I didn't have discernable movements until about 22 weeks!

Well I'm off now to start on the cakes I brought in in lieu of tomorrow!Wink

LipstickMum · 13/12/2004 09:42

I am going for my first scan tomorrow!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!! I'm sure I must be about the last of us lot?? Certainly feels like it.

Mrs W, my housework problem did resolve itself. I was waiting for someone to come and clean my oven and he was seriously late. BUT!! Now my oven is sparkling!!!!! And I didn't lift a finger Grin

What's everyone up to today? I'm giving blood for my pregnancy screening, Hep etc. Then the hairdresser and then baking sausage rolls and icing the cake.

See you all soon.

tribpot · 13/12/2004 10:07

I've got my first scan tomorrow as well, but only because I've paid for it .... otherwise I'd be waiting til the week after Sad (Mind you, I am due 26 June so I guess quite a long way behind some of you June 2005ers.

Best of luck for your scan!

tribpot · 13/12/2004 10:09

Oh and PS, no sign of any interest in anyone doing some blood tests. Sigh.

teabelly · 13/12/2004 10:10

blood tests...what for???

welshmum · 13/12/2004 10:24

Hello all,
So sorry that I haven't managed to post for ages. Had some time off work and our home computer is really playing up. How are you all? Hope you're around for a chat. It's odd just how much I missed you. I've started a new job today so hopefully everything will settle down again and I can chat most days.
I'm feeling fine. Completely normal now - apart from a tendency to cry a bit more easily some days, I'm tired but I think this is to do with doing loads for Christmas more than anything else.
I still haven't told alot of people but I suppose I should start soon or they'll think I'm seriously in denial. I really want to feel the baby now and have a bump - but I just seem to get kind of wider side on - this is just what happened with dd too - so might not see any kind of bump until 20 weeks. Shame.

katzguk · 13/12/2004 10:27

morning everyone.
I am going to start a new thread for the meet-up, that way it will be easier for me to see how many are coming. I'm not sure whats the best way to do the booking, i will ring the spa and find out.

I've been feeling a bit sickie today which is worrying because my pills run out in 10 days!! and i don't wanna be sick for christmas!!

tribpot · 13/12/2004 10:31

teabelly - First time mum, so I'm going by what the books tell me. Blood tests for blood group, Rh, HIV/hepatitis etc. Lipstick mentioned she was off to do hers today, I was responding to that.

katzguk · 13/12/2004 10:31

okay here's the link to the spa meet-up

teabelly · 13/12/2004 11:21

tribpot...sorry bit of a stupid moment there. If it's any help, when I was pg with ds I only had blood tests once - taken at the hospital at my 20 week scan, so you may have them then Smile

tribpot · 13/12/2004 11:35

Thanks teabelly. According to my notes, I am not due to have a 20 week scan! (I don't mean now, I mean at 20 weeks obviously!) This is just one of several queries I have for the midwifery service today .... I assume I haven't gone mad and a 20 week scan is pretty standard across the board? Could Suffolk really have a policy of not offering them?

katzguk · 13/12/2004 11:49

sheffield didn't used to, its only a recent thing, with DD (2) we just got a 11 week dating scan.
