Pidge - rather you than me on that commute - nightmare.

Misdee - sounds like the antenatal from hell. Hope you've recovered a bit now!

shalaa - Leicester (south of)

Leogaela - I'm still only seeing my midwife every 6/7 weeks and they've not weighed me once (yay!) - I was asked my weight at booking but I don't think they bother weighing here anymore. They'd only do half hour monitoring if there was a reason for it, not routinely. Have a good holiday next week.

I'm housebound at the moment as dd is poorly (very pitiful and sorry for herself, poor soul). So no-one is sleeping much! Oh well, weekend is here so dh will be home and that will help. Pg wise I'm feeling pretty good (finally!).

misdee · 10/12/2004 13:58

its an old wives take about the heart beats. basdically they say if its a slow heart beat =lazy boy. lol

faster heartbeats are meant to indicate girls. both my previous pregnancies the babies had fatser heart beats and they were both girls.

gotta go in on sunday, tues and thurs for monitering and doppler scan.

see thread on liver prob in pregnancy. not feeling on top of the world right now. very stressed and tired, not helped that my morning sickness seems to have reappeeared this week. might have to get the ice cream out later.

Pidge · 13/12/2004 13:52

Misdee - sounds like you're having a horrid time of it. Did they find out anything more yesterday? ice cream definitely recommended. Dp went out on Friday night unprompted by me and bought a tub of my favourite flavour! What a star.

I'm not finishing work till 38 weeks, so I guess I'm not going to be wobbling about on my bike at that stage! Will have to revert to the train option. My original goal was to cycle up to Christmas, and am feeling really pleased I've (nearly) managed that. In fact it's much easier now than it was in the first four months through all that sickness. So I'm going to have a go at continuing for a few weeks in January. But yes - Leogaela - basically the commute is a bummer. I work for a consultancy and am hoping for a more convenient project location when I return from maternity leave.

ZoeC - hope your dd is recovering and sleep is back on the agenda.

I don't get weighed by my midwife either - and am also seeing her every 6-8 weeks. No idea what I weigh actually as we don't own scales - so just freaking out when I catch glimpse of my profile in a mirror!

popsycal · 13/12/2004 13:54

had a nightmare appointment at the hospital this morning

popsycal · 13/12/2004 13:55

I saw a consultant a fe w months ago to get 'in the system' abotu my bp and today was the followup

got to hospital, did urine sample and i noticed I was bleeding )just a bit when I wi[ed TMI sorry)

ANyway - told midwife woman.....she said tell consultant. ANyway - bp taken and naturally it was sky high. SHe also took routine 28 week bloods (mi community midwife told me to get her to as she can never get any!). 4 attempts....

Then saw consultant who did bp again......slightly lower but still high.....told me he wanted to involve Preg Assessment unit with regular montitoring starting NOW to keep v close eye on BP.

SO off I trot to PAU and get stuck on theat bloody machine for 2 sodding hours. Baby's heartbeat was great apparently and my bp over those 2 hours settled down to average at the high end of the normal range.

Having a scan on wednesday morning for 3 reasons: 1. if bp is high, it can some how affect baby's growth - checking for that 2. to keep an eye on size of baby incase induction needed at some pount 3. to check for bleed. No more blood so I think it was just a 'one off'.

Oh then I had to have another blood test (attempt 4 from back of hand worked!!) to test for liver fucntion and other bp related stuff. Midwfie will ring me with resuts later today.

Then got home - DS was in a foul mood - really tired - (why couldnt mum have put him to sleep? So have just driven him round the block and he is now fast asleep in his cot!

Oh - there was one good thing. The consultant wanted to show his student how to examine my bump so I lay on the sofa whatsit thingy and lifted up my top....and his first comment was - 'Wow! Not a stretch mark in sight!'

SnowmAngeliz · 13/12/2004 13:55

popsy, what happened??

SnowmAngeliz · 13/12/2004 13:57

posts crossed!

Sad- hope you have a better afternoon!!+

misdee · 13/12/2004 14:25

oh popsy, sounds like your having a bad time.

why are they doing liver function test on you? my results still arent back yet.

but yay for no stretchmarks!! i havent got any new ones yet lol.

OP posts:
munchkinsusie · 13/12/2004 14:27

oh popsycal - hope you're having a better afternoon than morning.
and misdee - hope the ice-cream helped matters!

i had a quick query - has anyone else got leaking nipples yet? i had a tiny bit of leakage yesterday morning (was on my pyjamas) but not had it since. i guess i should buy some breast pads in case this is the start of it but went into mothercare and there seemed to be so many different types i didn't know where to start - so just walked out again! i did notice there was disposable or washable - any advice on that front? i'm tending towards the washable unless anyone can give me any major negatives. thanks

misdee · 13/12/2004 14:28

i have had leaking nipples already. dh finds it funny.

disposibles are handy, but i am gonna try washables this time. btw i am only leaking on left side.

OP posts:
popsycal · 13/12/2004 15:06

liver function test is to do with my high bp...they are ringing me today if results are abnormal...

popsycal · 13/12/2004 15:07

munchkinsusie - if you are going to go for disposable breast pads, the tommee tippee ones (used to be called maws) are the best without a doubt!

Pidge · 13/12/2004 15:41

popsycal - what a nightmare - I'm not surprised your bp was high during all that, it's enough to make anyone's bp go through the roof.

munchkinsusie - I didn't leak during pregnancy, but it's not unusual I think. I did leak copiously after dd was born - I tried washable breastpads and they just weren't absorbent enough. If you are just leaking a bit - disposables are great. They were just a problem when I was jetting fountains in all directions! Of the disposables it is definitely worth paying more money for the expensive ones IME - I liked the Johnsons brand, I tried supermarket own brand and all sorts, but all the others were leaky or sweaty and ended up being less cost effective because they needed changing so often.

misdee - I can't believe they still don't have your test results back - how hard can it be?!

misdee · 13/12/2004 16:13

£ of the 4 blood results are back. they are waiting for the last one, which should be back on friday. hopefully.

gotta go in tomorrow for monitoring again.

OP posts:
Pidge · 13/12/2004 16:33

good luck with the monitoring tomorrow misdee.

munchkinsusie - pregnancy brain moment - in my last thread I meant to say "If you are just leaking a bit WASHABLES are great"

popsycal · 13/12/2004 19:33

Well the midwife didnt ring back with bloods results and I was told to assume that all was fine if she didnt call me back....
so sitting guzzling milk tray and putting my feet up
no more bleeding....

misdee · 14/12/2004 08:20

dh has been taken to hospital this morning. am now waiting for a lift from mieow so i can get there. she is gonna watch the kids for me. Have also got monitoring myself at the same hospital today. Its all go here!

OP posts:
shalaa · 14/12/2004 13:56

Yes my nipples are leaking that yellow stuff, but it's not bad enough (yet) to warrant breast pads. At least I know there working! I'm pigging out on Chocolate sommat chronic and I finish work on Friday!!

misdee · 14/12/2004 20:01

crap crap crap!!!

now looks likely i have gestional diabetes as well.

OP posts:
bonymerryxmas · 14/12/2004 20:58

Misdee & Popsycal - sorry to hear you're both having a hard time of it hugs. Hope everyone else is ok.
Saw the midwife yesterday and everything seems to be fine except baby is currently the wrong way up! I know it's early days but dd was still breech at 36weeks and I had her turned by ECV - midwife said it is possible that due to shape of my uterus babies are more comfortable head-up. I know there's all sorts of things I can do to try and get her in a better position but don't know if it's worth worrying about yes as I guess she can turn several times between now and 36 weeks. I'm so set on having a home birth that I really don't want anything to jeopardise it. Oh well - no point worrying yet I suppose and this seems a very trivial concern compared to what some of you are going through. We're having a new bath put in tomorrow - swapping our short corner bath for a lovely claw-foot, deep, long bath - at last I'mm be able to stretch out and get water over my bump - can't wait!!

misdee · 14/12/2004 21:59

sounds lovely bony. i have a corner bath and i hate it. i end up crossing my legs in the bath to keep them under water. i'm gonna measure up to see if we can fit a regular(deep!!!) bath in there as the bathroom is quite narrow.

OP posts:
munchkinsusie · 15/12/2004 09:01

oh misdee - that's just not fair! you've really been through the wars with this pregnancy haven't you!!

bony - very jelous of the bath! i have just a standard bath and although i'm only 5'1" i have to cross my legs to lie right down in it. i'm looking forward to lots of lazy bubble baths over the christmas holidays!

saw the midwife yesterday, everything seems to be going fine for me. bp same as before, bump was right size, baby heartbeat fine. although the baby is in some wierd position -midwife couldn't actually figure out where everything was! we think it's lying transverse - ie head at one side and bum at the other with feet low down. she wasn't worried though - she said they can still move around tonnes at this stage. she also said that she thought i might have quite alot of water in my bump judging by the echo when listening to heartbeat, and i guess that means that since my bump is the 'right' size, that the baby is probably not big, which is good!

Pidge · 15/12/2004 09:40

Poor you misdee - does that mean a special diet for you? And will you have to have insulin injections?

Makes me realise how lucky I am having a trouble-free time of it.

BoneyM - your bath sounds great, I love wallowing in ours, though water covering the bump is but a dream these days!

sweeney · 15/12/2004 10:39

hi everyone
misdee i don't know how you manage to sound so buoyant with everything that's going on. maybe you've got a wicked sense of humour or have an extremely high tolerance level. any how my heart goes out to you.
bonym i hope baby turns. it must be worth encouraging baby into diff position i'd have thought just in case it makes a difference and if you know what might help. i so want a vaginal delivery too. in an active birth book i've read (thanks beetroot) they deliver breech babies vaginally!
my gorgeous fiance has got a job Bath way so we will be moving but timing of course will mean chaos. hope i can keep GSOH!
