Hi Pockettasha, know how you feel about the pram and crib, makes it very exciting. We play the mobile every night and are sleeping with the crib blanket...yup, sad but true!

No idea if raspberry leaf works, MW said no, MN says yes, so am taking it, as Fufmum says, as 40 week bump I started at 32 weeks but you are not meant to start until 35 weeks.

I have just spent 5 hours in the hairdressers getting a swanky new bright red colour and cut in preparation for the baby, spent a fortune and I don't care!

Fufmum, how lucky you are...I haven't been able to reach the perinium for months! It's a bloody struggle just managing to wash myself, practically throwing water at myself rather than actually reaching anything solid Wink

Unfortunately as it has taken me 12 years in total to fall pregnant all of my friends have much older children, the youngest being 10, so they're past the point of babies. It's a shame the one friend who is childless is dropping me though, it would have been nice to have someone to NOT talk babies to...but then again, will that even be possible Smile

PocketTasha · 09/12/2004 00:21

Hollyanna, The whole bp thing is strange, they worry more if your protein levels are also up, but if you have a team of midwives who are comparing your bp to your booking bp that also makes a difference. I've had differing opinions too, and this seems to be why.

Thanks for the help fufmum and artyjoe, thinking that maybe i'll look into the tea, as i'm 35 weeks and found out at my antinatel today that i'm measuring 36 weeks.

Lol at being about to reach the perinium, I have also had touble reaching anything in that direction for a while.. And i can't rememer the last time i saw it! I think it's nice to go out and get a little pampered if poss. I've been feeling a bit low lately, and finally managed to try to pick myself up at the weekend. I went and had a pedicure and manicure Grin as staying anywhere near my feet for long enough to do anything useful with them is also impossible! ... What is it everyone keeps saying? Oh yeah... It'll all be worth it in the end! GrinGrin.

I really think SM must have had the twins she had been gone for a few days now!
Come on SM let us now!!Grin
LOL about perinium, it's just aswell i can reach it really as i think my best friend may draw a line to her 'helping me out' right there!
I had a horrible dream last night about the baby, extremely bizzare, and upsetting. It woke me up and i wouldn't go back to sleep till i had felt my little man move around a bit. I keep finding myself waking up on my back and then i panic cause everyone says it's a bad position for the baby! Not sure how i can stop myself though!?
The kids i nanny for break up from school todayShock that's private schools for you! So gonna be busy for my last week at work...........great!

Hi Fufmum, if I were you I wouldn't worry about being asleep on your back...much more important that you get your sleep. Start off on your left and then let nature take its course. One of the things i can't wait for is to sleep on my stomach again...ah the memories!

smellymelly · 09/12/2004 11:07

Hello Ladies - I'm still here, intact!

I haven't been able to sit down for 3 days thanks to a pile the size of a grape sticking out my arse.. Shock I have never been in so much pain, I thought I had delivered one of the babies out my bum!!!!

Had my last scan yesterday, which went really well, babies have grown very well, measuring nearly 6lbs each, but could be nearly a pound either way. Baby boys leg looks really chubby, so all is looking good.

Begged them to induce me today or Fri, but they refused Angry as I'm not 37 weeks till sun. Also they have no room in special care so if I do go into labour before Sunday then we may have to drive all the way to Cardiff, Bristol or Plymouth... Aggghhh. (I should be delivering in Exeter). Not good as I actually had period like pains yesterday and loads of strong tightenings. So now I want to wait till Sun, even though I'm in constant pain from something!

Tues is still the day!!!! I just hope they have room for me when I call in the morning, I will be ringing them at 6am!

Thnaks for the best wishes Hana, good luck to you too! :)

Schmozer · 09/12/2004 11:46

All the best for Tuesday, SM, will be thinking of you while lounging around at home being a lady of leisure (well for at least six weeks anyway). Last day at work tomorrow - am almost counting the minutes!

PocketTasha · 09/12/2004 14:28

Artyjoe - with the sleeping on your stomache, i'm the same.. I want to be able to cuddle up to my pillow (Or dh) properly again! SM Good luck for tuesday!

PocketTasha · 09/12/2004 14:37

Grin This mad me giggle earlier.. After asking here i also did a yahoo search for the effects of Rasberry leaf tea and how it works... and it lead me to mumsnet Grin.

Hollyanna · 09/12/2004 14:41

Hana, the raspberry tea tablets are much more palatable! Hope you don't have to wait until the 5th..

Tasha, I've had traces of protein for a while now, but as with the bp the midwives/doctors have different reactions to it. My bp shoots up whenever I'm near a hospital at the moment...

Good luck on Tuesday Sm - lucky you, babies in time for Christmas!

fufmum · 09/12/2004 15:25

SM you are still around! Damn i thought we had our first birth story on it's waySmile
Glad everything went fine with the scan and little ones are doing well!

Where did you guys all buy your RLT from? I can't seem to find any..Sad.

SnowmAngeliz · 09/12/2004 21:35

Just popped in to say good luck SmellySmile++++++++++++++

artyjoe · 09/12/2004 21:35

I got my tablets from Holland & Barrett and my tea from Sainsbury's. I'm sure you could get it online from H&B.

Anyone got any cures for Monster feet?

Thinking of you SM!

PocketTinsel · 09/12/2004 23:58

Thanks artyjoe, didn't consider a supermmarket. h&b don't do the tea (id check online), but they do the capsules.
About the feet, i'm not sure if it applies but i've heard the soaking your feet in warm/hot water with vinegar in it is good for swelling. I have only heard this from my mum tho so she could be making it up!

smellymelly · 10/12/2004 12:02

Thnaks Angeliz - I'm very touched that people are popping in too wish me luck.

Blush

I can't wait till tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

smellymelly · 10/12/2004 12:02

What has happened to my spelling?

Ooh having a strong tightening!

fufmum · 10/12/2004 13:59

Grin well i had my baby shower today and my god it was fabulous!
My boss had done smoked salmon and champagne brunch with 'It's a boy' ballons all over the room. I got some amazing presents and have been totally and utterly spoiled rotten! This baby boy will be the best dressed baby in Yorkshire. I recommened having a shower if you can persued someone to do it for you. Also if you have pregnant friends think of throwing them one, i know i will!
And only 1 week left at work, i feel guilty for wanting to finish so bad as my boss did so much for me today and ended up hugging me then bursting into tears! I got a very nice leaving chequeWink with lots of thanks for the last 5 yrs, awwwwwwwww!
Ok i'm off to book a removals van to get all my goodies back home! LOL

Ooooh sm is that the sound of something happening??? Grin

I am here after a short trip to Holland and Barretts who did have the RL tea after all! Drinking my first cup, not sure about the taste... Don't know if i like it yet, I do like herbal teas normally but it's got a weird flavour. Have a tub on honey on standby!
Sorry to fire questions at everyone but the pinapple thing... does it have to be fresh? Or would tinned be the same?

PocketTinsel · 10/12/2004 14:24

fufmum - I'm glad you had a nice time, must have made you feel really special Grin.

artyjoe · 10/12/2004 17:04

Have I missed something about pineapple??

SM, thanks for the tip, anything is worth a go at the mo!

Fufmum, your baby shower sounds absolutely lovely, what a really lovely thing to do. I'm assuming once you go home you'll still be on MN? Couldn't bear not hearing about his arrival Grin

Pockettinsel, I find that one canderel and letting the tea go slightly warm actually makes it taste much better...and I hate herbal teas!

For someone who'se supposed to be on maternity leave I've done nothing but sit in my office all day, hence the Shrek feet again!

I'm assuming I should be taking raspberry leaf even though I'm likely to have a c section?? anyone?

Hollyanna · 10/12/2004 17:23

fufmum, your baby shower sounds lovely! I wish I could have one too. (you don't get the same fuss made when it's not your first baby).

pockettinsel, I'm assuming it's fresh pineapple - I did my shopping online yesterday and ordered 2!

There was another thread yesterday about a homeopathic remedy (caulophyllium)?)which I think you can try after you are overdue?

Hollyanna · 10/12/2004 17:26

aRtyjoe, i think that raspberry leaf tea is meant to ripen the cervix and make labour easier - I''m not sure it's necessary if you're having a c section, but I suppose if there is a risk that you will be having a normal delivery then it probably won't harm to take it. I didn't take it in one of my pregnancies and I was the most overdue with the longest most horrific labours, the other 2 were short ok (ish) labours - don't know if this is a coincidence or not.

fufmum · 10/12/2004 17:52

Honestly ladies it really was the best day. Artyjoe of course i will be on MN still, as if i would leave you lotWink

I am desperate to hear about all our little bundles journeys into the world. Maybe we can arrange a meet up after when we all feel up to it!? Would be good to put faces to the names i see so often everyday.
Also Joe i hope your feet get better soon, i had it for a while but made myself start putting my feet up more during the day and it really worked for me.

Pocketinsel i heard about the pineapple thing too but not sure what it is about it that is meant to do what!?

Ok well hope you all have a good weekend, i am saying a few goodbyes to friends i won't see till after i have the baby so will be a few tears no doubt!
