Hi everyone,
What is it with these strange ideas and worries I keep getting. Last night couldn't sleep at all - convinced myself that all had gone wrong. Thought about it so much that I even dreamt it! I dreamt that a sonographer patted me on the shoulder and said that the fetus hadn't grown for 3 weeks! I think it's because I haven't put on any weight to speak of (got a bit heavier before conceiving, but nothing since). No bump, MS disappearing, got used to the boobs - probably because they are feeling better. Second scan on 31st + booking, bloods etc. I'm a very positive person really, but can't feel excited until I get some evidence that I'm pregnant!! The first scan was great, but I really need to see the second one. The dentist asked if I was excited yesterday, and I said no - cos I'm holding my breath until 12 weeks. Is anyone else feeling the same or am I strange?

ChaCha · 16/01/2008 16:56

Oh Gigglegirl - hope you're not in for long!!! I secretly enjoyed my 3 day stay when PG last year (had awful SPD) as had a rest from house and DS Hope you are back home asap, keep us posted.

PennyB - That's really interesting, we eat a lot of that here so am pleased i read that. My friend ate lots of marmite with her DS - I have only tried it once and didn't like it.

alittlebitshy - LOL, my sentiments exactly at fish finger sandwiches!!! DS would probably like that. I have had a 'crisp butty' this afternoon and 2 grapefruits, the thing is, i know i'm going to be sick and i am putting it off by eating more, does that make sense? It will be a rough night Hopefully one last post before bed, DS2 wants to play x

ChaCha · 16/01/2008 17:01

Hardygirl - Think it's quite normal. I was very much like that with my first, so much so that we had two private scans before the 12 week one. When i first started posting on the ante-natal thread lots of fellow posters had lost their babies and were experiencing difficulties and with it being my first was a bit naive and automatically assumed all would be okay.
Think it's natural but try not to let it cloud your thoughts/focus. Not long to go, 2 weeks!!! A doppler put my mind at rest in early days.

DS2 is screaming at me now and pointing finger really bmust go zx

IlanaK · 16/01/2008 18:02

Gigglegirl - how aweful. I hope you get out soon and get better.

If anyone is interested, I just got a big delivery of maternity clothes from the US as I am plus size and couldn't get anything over here. One of the tops did not fit me and it is quite a gorgeous red top size 24 ish. I have just posted a for sale ad if anyone wants to look!

hardygirl · 16/01/2008 18:10

Thanks Chacha - makes me feel better!

Hiyall
Still waiting for my booking in / scan appt - I know I am on the books somewhere because GP put my LMP down wrong and a MW phoned ages ago to ask how I could know I was pg!

Have tempted fate today and bought a nappy off Ebay. Tiny size 1 Fuzzibunz in sage green - aaaaaaahhhhhh .

dizzydixies · 16/01/2008 20:01

hi mum to go, congrats on your long awaited bundle.

giggle girl, am sorry to hear you're in hospital but take it easy or at least try to!

IlanaK, where did you get your stuff, all being well am meant to be going to NY in Feb and was hoping to pick up some stuff, am also on the plus side of life and would love something a bit different!

bleeding slowing down fingers crossed

how did the girls with the booking in get on today?
xx

CaptainCaveman · 16/01/2008 20:08

Booking appt went well - lovely mw and I remember her from having ds.

Because I'm sooo old (35 next month) I get the choice of having the nuchal scan. I get to phone up myself and book it and they'll do my dating scan at the same time.
Has anyone else had a nuchal scan before?
No bloods today, she will do those when I go back in about 5 weeks.

Fish finger sandwiches sound good.
I've gone off the smell of preparing food so have bought some simple ready meals (corned beef hash, chicken supreme etc) which are far easier on the nose/stomach!

I have some walnut cake downstairs calling me....but could really eat some fish fingers now you've mentioned them. Just can't be arsed to cook them!!

dizzydixies · 16/01/2008 20:15

CC thats great news, do you have a definate due date now?

have already had tea, mince n' tatties comfort food, an yet the power of suggestion now makes me want fishfingers - am every advertisers dream!! lol

CaptainCaveman · 16/01/2008 20:31

Well, I didn't tell the mw that I went for a private scan. She's given me a due date based on my lmp, of aug 5th. However, I suggested to her that I'm more like 10 weeks as my cycle is usually 36 days. I do know from my private scan last week that I am 9+4 today, so will be 10 weeks on saturday.

Tbh am a bit worried about the nuchal scan - haven't really thought through what I would do if they detected a higher downs risk. My gut instinct is its my baby and I would of course keep it. I'm not so sure dh would agree though. We have much talking to do before i go ahead and book it.

My risk of downs is about 1 in 375, which statistically is around 0.25%. The nuchal scan detects if you are a higher risk than average and then you may need CVS or amnio. I'm praying hard about what I should do!

dizzydixies · 16/01/2008 21:00

Oohh CC I don't really know anything about them sorry, how about you hop onto one of the earlier boards and see if anyone has had one?

ChaCha · 16/01/2008 21:02

Welcome mum2go!

CC - Glad booking appointment went well.

Cooking is a nightmare at this stage in PG, i bought loads of jars yesterday for days when I can't do much. Made myself a jalfrezi which did not stay down for very long, yuk!! Think i better stick to grapefruit.

Hoping for an earlyish night. Oh Buckets, tell me more about nappies.

IlanaK · 16/01/2008 21:09

Dizziedixies - I got them from www.motherhood.com click on the plus size shop. I love their stuff - very comfy and quite stylish. Depending on your size, GAP do maternity in the US too. I have a nightmare with clothes when I am pregnant - this is the third time I have been through this. Evans did not do maternity clothes the last two times, and althugh they seem to have recently, it looks like they are now discontinuing it. M+S only go up to a 20 in maternity despite going up to a 24 in their normal stuff (explain that one to me!). Mothercare also only goes up to 20 and is farily snug.

I too am having trouble with cooking. I can't face meat at the moment so my very keen on meat family is having to eat mostly veggie. It is not going down too well!

TwilightSurfer · 16/01/2008 21:11

Captain I'll be 37 next month and my nuchal scan is schedule for 04Feb. Two of my friends had it and BOTH were told they had a high risk of downs. NEITHER went on to do the CVS or Amnio just because the risk of miscarriage. Later scans proved no downs for either. One has a DS whose six months now and the other is having a C-section this Friday...DD.

Feeling a bit like crud at the moment. All was going well until I got word about my grandmother. It's not good but it made me realize that my uncontrollable crying today could be my amazing mental connection to her. Had the same connection with my mom and actually felt her pass...and I was miles away. I'm very thankful this pregnancy is going well enough so I can soon travel if need be. Live comes at you from every direction sometimes.

TwilightSurfer · 16/01/2008 21:13

While you all are on the subject of maternity clothes...I saw a sign today advertising SPANX. Wasn't that the put you back together stuff discussed yesterday? I almost went in the shop to check it out.

poppysocks · 16/01/2008 22:12

So pleased to hear that things are looking more positive dizzydixies.

Hope you feel better soon gigglegirl and are able to leave hospital with lots of reassurance of a healthy bean.

Nice to see you again Penny. ROFL at Iceland/Ireland!

I'm worried too hardygirl. So worried that I'm blithely looking forward to an August baby and that I'll (finally) get scanned to find nothing there.

You're so right about how slowly time is going petitfilou!

Lots of marmite going down here. Figured it couldn't be bad with all that vitamin b. I am craving cake. V. bizarre as I don't normally like it. Actually dreamt about coffee and walnut cake last night!

We're thinking about the nuchal thingy scan. It would be a pain to get to and expensive and I'm not that high risk (30), but forewarned is forearmed etc. Hmmm. Not sure whether to do it. The clincher is probably going to be that it's not looking hopeful for an NHS scan before 14 weeks now as still nothing from the hospital, so at least it would be a way of checking that I'm not just making up this pregnancy malarky.

Kezza7779 · 16/01/2008 23:18

Hi everyone, captain im a day behind you 10 wks on sunday. I also had my booking in appt today, i discussed the tests thing with the miidwife and she said that the nuchal doesnt produce any different results than the normal bloods etc...? Anyway ive been trying to decide myself wether to to be tested, after a discussion with dh i think i will - has everyone had these tests?xxxx

FoghornLeghorn · 17/01/2008 08:08

Hope you're on the mend soon Gigglegirl

I have got my first set of bloods at the midwife today. I think she said last time I'll have the bloods for my nunchal in about 4 weeks time - I have decided to have the bloods as they are routine here and I do slightly agree with forewarned blah blah blah but DH & I agree we will do not do anything further regardless of the answer we get from the bloods.

12 weeks tomorrow

warthog · 17/01/2008 09:08

does anyone else wake up with numb hands?

FoghornLeghorn · 17/01/2008 09:18

I got this terribly with DD2 Warthog - like pins & needles but pretty constant.
I asked my midwife about it, she did give me an answer but it was nothign serious

Buckets · 17/01/2008 10:06

Warthog and Foghorn - it's called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, it's really common, give it a Google. I've never had it but my SIL did with one of her kids.

Chacha - I run a real nappy network herebut had to post on the Nappies forum yesterday for advice ! Have decided on Bumbles for when baby is big enough but not sure what newborn/small nappies to go for yet - am a bit behind the times. I like to have a few Fuzzibunz too for grandmas etc to use.

Didn't feel too bad last night, probably because I'd planned steak and chips for dinner and was determined to eat it. Followed by a superb bout of sex with DH (have been put off by his faggy smell lately but he made an effort not to smoke last night), am still feeling very pleased with myself.
10wks+1 - 25% of this pregnancy done and dusted, yay!
