TwilightSurfer · 31/01/2008 17:18

Sky do you have any gut feelings about what you're having?? If so you can add that to the list.

poppysocks · 31/01/2008 17:18

Oh Buckets you may just have changed my life! I thought you had to assume that soft cheeses weren't pasteurised, unless they said otherwise. I'd decided anyway that I'd have a little of these sorts of things in situations like that, but if I can have them whenever I want I will be SO happy. (I know, I need to get out more...).

Congratulations to everyone with their wonderful scan news! Keep it coming!

Buckets · 31/01/2008 17:26

I guess you might not always want to trust the hygiene standards of a restaurant but definitely at home you can be sure of the safety of your cheeses, you can check the labels and make sure they are piping hot etc.

FoghornLeghorn · 31/01/2008 17:58

Congrats to everyone else who had scans today )

Dh asked if the sonographer could tell the sex but she said it was too early but would happily tell us at 20 weeks if the baby is in the right position etc. Roll on 25th March

IlanaK · 31/01/2008 18:23

I had my scan today and all was fine. The baby was stubborn and would not turn around so they kept sending me back to the toilet and to jump up and down. Finally in the last minute, it turned. They put my dates forward. Now due 28th July and am 14 +5 I think. I was supposed to have the nuchal scan today but as they moved my date forward, it was too late and I can't have it now. I have to have a different blood test on Monday instead.

I am updating the list.

ChaCha · 31/01/2008 18:50

Lovely scan news...all those dancing babies, hurray!!!

(can we also add 20 week scan dates to the list? Some of you are very organised listers, impressed!)

Awwwww at 'cry' moments. I had one of those when stood in take away - quite embarrassing as there was a massive flat screen showing a music video of a war zone!!! The scenes really had me in tears and eventually turned away trying not to look too devestated. Needless to say i made a quick exit with my fries and drink.

Forgot whose post i read but sorry your DH missed the scan!!! Typical, almost happened to us last year, hope you have some nice scan pics to share and look at.

And Ilana - wow, a July date, my anniversary is the 29th and DH's b'day a few days before so i was kind of hoping the c-sec would be after and hopefully according to m/w should be...phew!

Love to all - looking fwd to pineapple fritters on ice cream...mmmm!

hardygirl · 31/01/2008 19:00

Hi all,
Had scan and saw happy little bean who is growing well. Sonographer was less that chatty, not much pointing things out, no "look it's waving". It moved once, but I barely saw it cos she was so quick with the scanner. I let slip that I was a staff member at the end and she suddenly started talking - but too late by that point. Piccies look like a baby elephant or an alien. Hope everyone else is OK. My dates work out the same, so no changes there.

CaptainCaveman · 31/01/2008 19:15

FABBO news for all your scans ladies!! Really really happy for you all. In celebration of this I have eaten 5 slices of pizza for my tea .

Brrrrrrrrrr its bloody freezing here!

Am mightily impressed by the statisticians who keep remembering who had scans when, who moved where etc. It's all I can do to remember my own appointments!

TS did you stop crying yet? I was weepy yesterday, but much better today!

OP posts:
FoghornLeghorn · 31/01/2008 19:16

hardygirl - my sonographer was shite - she wizzed through, we must've been in there 4 or 5 minutes and the picture is crap although we saw some great images on the screen, she just clicked and printed

IlanaK · 31/01/2008 19:20

Wow, I feel really lucky with my scan then as they really took their time. COnsidering I am in central london where resources are so overstratched and there was a waiting room full of people, I was in there ages. Must have been at least 20 minutes. She was very chatty, pointing everything out. She got all the measurements she needed but kept going to get the baby to turn so we could have a profile picture. Maybe I should stop complaining about god aweful NHS in London!

IlanaK · 31/01/2008 19:22

I forgot to say earlier, with my due date now Jul 28th and me having a c-section, I will probably actually h ave the baby around the 21st of July. But can I stay here pretty please?!

TwilightSurfer · 31/01/2008 19:49

WOW!! Hardygirl, Lcy, Foghorn, LadyofWaffle and IlanaK....now that's a lot scans for one day. ChaCha did you get a scan too with your booking in appointment? AMAZING BUNCH you ALL ARE!!

Monday I have my nuchal scan (12+2). Sticky I think you're having a scan that day too. Anyone else want to join the Monday scan group??

Captain I'm still crying at the craziest things. I popped out to get a bite and on the drive some stupid song played that caused my eyes to WATER. However I will say the NACHOS FIESTA that I just devoured has given me a new perspective. I haven't eaten that much food in months. IT WAS GOOD!

HazieAndBaby · 31/01/2008 21:27

I'm going to muscle in on your Monday scan group! Hope that's okay! My DH has got me all panicky about the scan now after telling me he's worried about it. I was relying on him to be the strong one and tell me that everything will be okay, but that's not going to happen now! Good to hear about all the other scans that are happening and that everything is going well. Hope this rubs off on the rest of us.

On the crying issue, I'm a wreck! I was crying on the bus one morning around Christmas listening to Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard! I also cried watching 'Knocked Up' when she had the baby at the end - it was supposed to be a comedy! I've also cried at that programme with the battery hens that was on Channel 4 a couple of weeks ago and at Dog Borstal when the guy gave his dog away. There are a few other more shameful ones, but I'll keep them for another day!

About baby journals, I'm keeping one, but haven't been writing in it every day as it feels like not much is happening at the moment! xx

HazieAndBaby · 31/01/2008 21:32

Oh, I wanted to type a bit more but was a bit worried about how long my message would be! I don't know if this makes me crazy, but I've taken to talking to my little bean when I'm just about to go asleep (usually only when DH is downstairs and can't hear me!), telling it how much we love it and to hang in there. Feel a bit embarrassed now that I've admitted it out loud..

pertelote · 31/01/2008 22:07

Thanks for the advice back there ladies. Much appreciated!

Just realised I didn't update the list when they changed my due date at scan last week. I'm 13+6, due 1st Aug. I got the results of my combined (NT + blood) test today and it's clear; and we sent an email round to friends we hadn't told yet and got a flood of lovely replies. So quite cheerful tonight! Hope everyone else is having a good day.

warthog · 01/02/2008 07:50

is anyone around? i'm having horrible cramps

does this mean what i think it does or is this going to be ok? no blood yet.

Lcy · 01/02/2008 08:12

Alittlebitshy - why dont you get your midwife (if you have one) to find the heartbeat with a doppler. That might provide a bit of reassurance before the scan? I am 12.6 now and only have a tiny bump when lying down - but you would never know i am pregnant when standing.

pertelote - congrats on the combined test result, we are doing our email to everyone today and i am very excited

HazieAndBaby - i dont talk to my bump but when i am lying in bed i think about the baby and what it will be like to hold it, what it will look like etc... such a first time mother . Good luck on Monday

TS & ChaCha - thanks for the congrats and good luck on Monday TS

Foghorn & hardygirl - glad all went well. Scanner lady also wizzed through mine. I would of been in there for hours if she had let me. Luckily the baby behaved and we got a nice profile.

IlanaK - glad all went well with scan and that you are going to stay on the august thread

CaptainCaveman - thanks for praying for us all yesterday it worked

Poppysocks & libbyssister - i am goats cheese if cooked - i love it

LadyOfWaffle - i hope you are feeling better

Hi SKYTVADDICT, Buckets, dizzydixies, miamia and everyone else.

Lcy · 01/02/2008 08:13

sorry Warthog - crossed posts - what kind of cramping? How long for?

warthog · 01/02/2008 08:18

feel like fairly sustained period cramps. has been happening since midnight.

Lcy · 01/02/2008 08:21

Ok - try not to panic (easier said than done) not bleeding is a really good sign. If it was me i would give my midwife or gp a call and say you are really worried. They will prob use a doppler to reassure you that all is ok.

I have been getting all kinds of crampy aches and pains recently and i wonder if it is to do with the placenta starting to work / attach (just a theory)

Thinking of you xxx

CaptainCaveman · 01/02/2008 08:21

(((warthog))) hope you are doing ok? Couple of things - (sorry if personal!), when did you last go for a no.2? Also, you could ring the mw? Sure you will be fine, prob just things stretching as the womb moves out of your pelvic brim and starts to take over the rest of your body!!
Let us know how you are?

Woke up feeling sick today, yuck, had breakfast and feeling a little better. Unlikely we will get snow here in Nottingham - rarely do!

Have fun today ladies, whatever you are up to.

OP posts:
warthog · 01/02/2008 08:28

i did a no. 2 yesterday. and come to think of it, i have had cramps occasionally in the last two days. i just wrote them off as growing pains.

i think i'm not going to panic until i see blood. could be bowels sorting themselves out.

thanks!

CaptainCaveman · 01/02/2008 08:29

Lcy - God always answers our prayers (although not always in the most straighforward of ways!)- I am so happy for you all that you had great news from your scans yesterday. The prayer thread ladies will be equally chuffed

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 01/02/2008 08:32

warthog - I am getting the most weird pains from my bowels. Again look away now, tmi alert -
ranging from period type pains, to sharp pains that make me wince, to nothing at all! I am putting it down to hormones, as there is a proven correlation to pg hormones and constipation.

If you are concerned though, ring the mw, she will at least reassure you

OP posts:
warthog · 01/02/2008 08:43

hmm, ok. it's possible. i don't think i'm constipated, but it's not an unusual situation for me... i don't want to make a fuss at the gp's until i've got a more substantial symptom. if it gets worse, or there's blood i will definitely go.

thanks for the reassurance
