I know what you mean buckets although didn't know his work that well I always think the loss of such a young life is such a waste - he has a 2yr old daughter as well which is even sadder

I've only seen '10 things I hate about you' and 'Casanova' but he was soooo charming and sexy in them. Can really imagine him in his 50s playing smooth-but-dangerous silver foxes - not to be.

longwayfromhome · 26/01/2008 19:52

Laughed a lot at the comments about sex. Called DH in to read them as well so that he knows that it's not just me who would rather just have a nice cup of (decaffeinated) tea ...

VintageGardenia · 26/01/2008 21:31

Hi all, glad everyone doing well and having good times with the scans. We had a second one this week (nuchal fold and blood tests - I didn't realise it was optional till the evening before we went!) - all was well but I cried my eyes out the whole way through it. Chilly / bored female consultant (being paid 250 euro for this) ignored this till end then asked me was it because of my full bladder ... erm, no.

Not bumpy but feeling generally fat & have put on 8 pounds since the start. I read - or was told? - you are meant to put on 8 pounds in first 20 weeks. So better put on nothing for next 7 weeks ... how likely is that?

Been wearing my hidjus maternity bras, even at night! as recommended.

TwilightSurfer · 26/01/2008 22:30

Finding it hard to grasp how much energy you must have Captain. I barely made it through two construction supply stores today before feeling as if someone had unplugged me. My DH is totally amazed at the hockey thing. He's been trying to light a fire under my butt for weeks...thinks I've been to sedintary. I've had a goal all week to take DD for a swim....maybe tomorrow .

Rach I've been quite still myself (MC last NOV). I've found when I do get physical I feel it more. Only in the last couple of weeks have started moving around (yoga, dancing, stretching). I think as you move around your baby belly repositions a little, filling in the new space available. I wouldn't worry...healthy and well .

Regarding Health Ledger, I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't make people look a little closer at taking sleeping pills. Seems they are given out like candy (at least here in the states). I don't know if anyone has compared the two yet but his death was just like Marilyn Monroe's. It's very sad.

CaptainCaveman · 27/01/2008 08:47

Good morning lovely ladies - I hope you are feeling reasonably human?

Ds is downstairs, wrapped up in my dressing gown because the baby in his tummy is making him feel poorly . I expect he is fed up of hearing it already!!

Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off - although I don't recall it being much of a holiday! I had to write my assignment, obliterate the junk mountain which had overtaken the house, and go into work 3 times to shortlist for a job we've advertised because HR put the wrong closing date on the advert [grrrrrr]. Should be a nice rest going back to work!!

On the plus side - if I'm not in the house I can't mess it up either!!

dizzy you must try harder to win the lottery for me . Did you find your legs under the hair btw?

sarahnh where abouts in w mids are you? did I tell you I grew up in Stafford (and Rugeley before that)?

dizzydixies · 27/01/2008 08:54

morning all!

if I sound more than a little chipper this morning its because I got a SLEEP!!!!! a sleep ALL NIGHT THROUGH!! I can't even remember the last time that happened, when I woke, due to pesky bladder at 7am, it was still pitch black and I blundered about presuming it was middle of night. Stood still making sure I could hear 2 lots of gentle snoring/snuffling/breathing from girls room and went to loo only to see it wa 7am. Am sorry to rant on about something so trivial but I really really needed it! lol
wait to you see - tonight will be back to square one after being lulled into false sense of security lol fingers crossed!

CC - won a tenner so will put that towards the kirsty & phil fund, its a start some lucky ba%*!!rd won the whole £18M I know how you feel about work being a rest some time although am on nights from Thurs so not sure how that going to go. Last time before I announce am pg and tell them am not doing nights anymore - yipee!!

have a great day ladies, hope those still with M/S are finding its easing off slightly
xx

ChaCha · 27/01/2008 09:28

Good morning all,

Lovely to wake up to sunshine 2 days in a row! We have our 12 week scan tomorrow at 8am, very excited and hoping all is well, will finally be able to tell those who don't know (although friend accidentally told some others grrr!)

Good to read all scan news and some of you have been very busy! I have had a few days of lots of energy and then a bit of a burn out, good while it lasts

Is anyone in maternity clothes yet? I gave most of mine away, trousers are now way too tight but maternity top that i have makes me look plain fat - cannot see anything that nice either on the net - any suggestions?

Hope everyone is well x

dizzydixies · 27/01/2008 09:34

Morning Chacha
in my matty trousers but they keep falling off, I just have a hatred for all things tight on waist whilst pregnant, has happened each time before so wasn't a surprise when it happened again!

As for tops am in the good old Tesco/Asda tunics until need to progress to matty clothes!

Matty clothes online -

dorothy perkins
M&S
NEXT
La Redoute
Jojomamabebe
Bloomin Marvellous
Mothercare
Isabella Oliver(not cheap)
Crave
Seraphine or Seraphina - can't remember sorry
Formes (french but with english site)
Evans
Debenhams

apparently Zara are doing a maternity range in store now too - never going to happen for me but if you're not heavy at all they might have some nice stuff - I love their kids clothes but the assistants always give me a look when I go in because its blatantly obvious am not going to fit anything other than a bag lol

hth
x

dizzydixies · 27/01/2008 09:35

ooh - and Mamas and Papas sometimes have some nice stuff

New look with us also have a matty dept now

Peacocks are still doing fairly maternity-esque tops - nice and long anyway. Aim for something with a v- or u- shaped front hem - I've been wearing one all week and nobody can see my beergut unless I flash it at them (then their eyes pop out in surprise!)
Am home on a quick break from work (finished all my morning calls early and felt a bit rotten working straight through and forcing people to have their lunch by 11am!)
Must tidy front room before MW arrives later.

Lcy · 27/01/2008 11:01

Hello everyone - i havent posted for a while because i have been feeling so unwell. I seem to be the only one that feels ok till 11 weeks and then gets exhaustion and morning sickness . Just to let you know i am lurking and thinking of all of you that have scans coming up. Ours is on Thursday!

HazieAndBaby · 27/01/2008 15:17

ChaCha I've been wearing my maternity jeans since I was about 8wks!! They're so comfy and I'm definitely starting to fill them now! I got them from Mothercare, but didn't really see anything I liked there. I got 2 really cute tops from New Look, but bargains of the year came from Primark! I got some t-shirts from there (not maternity but I bought the size up from what I currently am) at £2 each and they're really long so will cover any bump for a wee while I'd have thought and they're really comfy too. Hope this helps!
Talking of clothing, I went to Bravissimo yesterday to get measured and I needed to go up 2 cup sizes!!! What's that about?? I'm only 11 + 2!!

poppysocks · 27/01/2008 16:19

I managed to get some v. bargainsome tops in the sales after Christmas (v. scared at the time of jinxing things). They're not maternity tops, but the loose ones that are around a lot at the moment. A couple from New Look for £3 each have been good and a couple from Monsoon and Warehouse have been good for the smarter days in the office.

I've still got my clothes from last time but given that DD was due exactly 6 months apart from this one I suspect I may have an excuse to buy some summery items closer to the time. Next sorted me out nicely last time, but I notice that H&M have some ok stuff at decent prices.

Only news here is that having been told that I hadn't been referred to the hospital that I'd decided to change to, I received a scan and booking appointment on Saturday! Just when we'd reconciled ourselves to starting off at the original hospital and then changing. DH not amused as it means he has to change everything around workwise, but the new date is only 2 days later so a week on Wednesday now. As on Friday, 10 days and counting!

Buckets · 27/01/2008 18:30

Saw MW for booking in at last today, she was fun and quite newly qualified which was good as I have had bad experiences with bossy MWs. Feels a bit more real now I have my notes!

CaptainCaveman · 27/01/2008 21:16

Picked up a lovely skirt in m&s the other day - its a size 12 but has a looooooottt of stretch in it, so hope to be able to wear it for some time (work clothes i hasten to add).

Been kite flying with ds today, had great fun out in the country park - until I dropped and broke my new camera on the way back to the car . Bugger. Dh only bought it me for christmas too. Going to try and see if I can get it fixed. The lens doesn't move coz I've bashed it in....oops.

I told our vicar today that I am pg - he was over the moon! His daughter is also pg and due in a couple of months.

Will this tiredness ever end? Please say yes - it never went with ds!! I have energy to do stuff but as soon as I stop I'm shattered. If I do nothing I find I feel even worse

Great news on booking appt buckets - feels good to get 'in the system' doesn't it? Seemed to make it more real for me if that makes sense?

TwilightSurfer · 27/01/2008 23:46

Okay something has changed as of today. I did wake and have a huge gag/puke fest...normal. Toast and a coke was all I could stomach following that. By lunch I was feeling VERY ill again but forced myself to eat a cheeseburger, french fries and a coke. Illness disappeared completely only to reappear 4 hours later but was cut off by a massive craving for (this is very American) hash browns with cheese covered in chili, a side of toast and a sprite. This is where it gets wild for me....I went to the store (without a list) and bought: brownies, chocolate-carmel-ricecrispie cookies, cool ranch doritos, macaroni-n-cheese with brocolli, AND lasagna frozen dinners. My DH looked at me and asked if I'd been "smoke'n" something . 11+1 today and finally I WANT TO EAT AGAIN!!!!! HOORAY!!! Now I'll probably be the size of a whale in a few short weeks.

Weather was beautiful here today. DH and I took DD to the playground where she ran like she's never ran before. When we got home the neighbors were riding bikes so she and I stayed out and played with them till time for dinner. I think my cheeks even feel a bit hot from the sun. OH HOW I'VE MISSED THE SUN!!!

Wishing everyone warm and well this week.

libbyssister · 27/01/2008 23:51

I'm gonna get my maternity clothes out of the loft in the next couple of weeks and see what I've got. I borrowed a lot of stuff of my sister last time but want it updated this time (and her stuff wasn't really my style).

My DS was born in early May so I don't really have any summery mat clothes for the latter stages...

CC - fingers crossed your energy will be back soon. Officially the 2nd trimester starts from 14 weeks so we'll all be blooming soon

TwilightSurfer · 28/01/2008 01:28

Captain this is just for you. A bit of nostalgic nonsense I found just now: Captain Caveman. Enjoy!
