Hello everyone,

Had our 12 week scan earlier this morning and bouncy baby doing very well. Feel like i've reached this huge milestone and is lovely to sit and call/text friends who didn't know. At last is official!

Going to have a look at mat clothes mentioned (thanks for that) online as taking these two into city centre can be tiresome and also difficult with big double tandem at times. Boys are also full of the cold so won't be going out at all today.

Talk to you all later, hope everyone is having good start to day.

Ilana - are you out there?

libbyssister · 28/01/2008 09:50

Happy 12 weeks Cha Cha. Well done! And a scan makes it even more special.

Why did I stay up posting on MN close to midnight? zzzZZZ DS is running a fever (he's got a cold coming) and woke me up at 1, 2, 3 am. Finally crawled back to bed at 4.30 and then up for work at 6.30.

Sitting at work feeling like I've been hit by a truck.

ZzzzzZZ

Anyone doing anything interesting today?

sarahnh · 28/01/2008 10:51

12 weeks today yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I cannot believe i have finally got here!! I am still have unbelieveable cramps particularly at night time, but am trying to be reassured by the whole stretching ligaments thing!!!

Captain Caveman, so impressed with your hockey, i used to play and did play when i was pregnant with lo but since she has been born, i have no time to play at all!!! I live in Shirley, near Solihull in the west mids by the way!!

I have booked in for my nuchal scan on Thursday, is anyone else having this done or had this done?xxxx

libbyssister · 28/01/2008 10:54

Another 12 weeks celebration, congrats sarahnh.

I was offered the nuchal scan but can't afford it (it's about £200 where I live)

Buckets · 28/01/2008 10:59

My dating scan will include the nuchal bit too, they combine the result of that with blood test results to give you a probability. Should get my appt this week. DH being v negative about the poss of having a Downs baby but I think there are far worse conditions, many of which you can't test for in pregnancy so I'm a bit Que Sera Sera about it.

libbyssister · 28/01/2008 11:20

It's all a leap of faith isn't it? Everything is focused on Downs and Spina bifida, etc. but there are a MILLION different things that could affect your child. Blindness, deafness, behavioural problems, etc aren't going to show up on a scan.

You just have to HOPE that your child will be well.

And after all that worrying, when they're safely out in the big wide world, you turn your back for 5 mins and find them playing with plug sockets .

Pinchypants · 28/01/2008 12:38

Morning ladies,
Hope you all had good weekend, and hurrah for another clutch of good scans. Am 10+4 today and hoping the post will bring a date for ours this week. We get the nuchal fold test included round here and will be having it, though no idea what we'll do if it's dodgy. Fingers crossed won't have to make any hard decisions and all will be well.

We still haven't christened 2008 either - DH says he does miss sex but is terrified I might puke on him, poor lamb! As soon as we get the scan and the sickness out of the way I'll have to make a concerted effort to get things back on track - we'd only just really resumed service as normal after DD when I got pg! Last time round DH was a bit scared of bump and not wildly turned on by my whale-ness even though I was really up for it in the third trimester. Have warned him I'm not having any of that nonsense this time round.

Well, must finish my morning's 'work' and get DD from nursery now. Thankfully she has a two hour sleep from the moment I get her home every day so I can rest if I need to as well. And eat, obviously. Please let us have another good sleeper this time...

Have a good day,
Pinchy xx

libbyssister · 28/01/2008 13:15

"is terrified I might puke on him" ha ha ha lol Pinchy

Shazza2002 · 28/01/2008 13:17

Afternoon ladies.

Congratulations ChaCha and Sarahn on reaching 12 weeks, feels great doesn't it. I kind of feel like I've cheated a bit, after thinking I was 12+1 on Friday, scan told me I am actually 12+6. So went from being 12 weeks on Thursday and being totally overjoyed to being 13 Weeks on Saturday and even more happier. Can't all the weeks be that short

I'm starting to feel lots better. When we started trying and since then I have been taking pregnacare vitamins. Suddenly the penny has finally dropped, I forgot to take it Saturday and felt like absolute shite. I've now realised the days when I hadn't taken it (not a lot) were the days when I felt terrible. So I think it may have something to do with it.

Checked with midwife and she said normally you stop folic acid at 12 weeks, but it's best to continue on pregnacare for the whole pregnancy as it's a multi vitamin safe for pregnancy. Just thought I'd share ladies, I'm sure it's just luck that I haven't been feeling that bad but all helps

I'm having the triple blood tests, and that's it.

Hope you're all having a good day

alittlebitshy · 28/01/2008 13:28

lots of lovely news on this thread over the weekend. good good.

i hit 13 weeks yesterday!!!

We went away for the weekend to stay with some friends in devon. was a loooong drive, and about an hour and a half before we should have got there on friday eve dh suddenly felt ill. he puked in service station, then i took over the driving but he was puking in carrier bags so we had to stop at a travel lodge for the night. dd was delighted.. v exciting when you're 4 and a half , plus i relegated dh to the sofa bed and had dd in bed with me so that we could try not to catch whatver dh had. He was up in the night (both ends, ugh, poor thing), but felt better but weak by the morning, so i drove us on to our friends where we had a lovely rest of the weekend. their son was one of dd's first playmates back when they were babies, so they get on v v well, and they had a fab time. on Sunday morning they got up and got themselves breakfast rofl. bread and meringue! I keep giggling at the thought!!!!

Still feeling v sick. been more sick over last week than had been for a while. ugh.

if i was unlucky and caught whatver dh had, would it (the extra sickness, and the diarrhea) be a worry with regards to baby??? panicking massively......

Decided not to tell dd yet. I just don't feel ready after my 2 bleeding episodes. Have a "dating" scan (hah!! had 2 scans already which confirmed my dates lol) in 2.5 weeks, with booking in app, so if all is still ok then we'll tell her then. I'll be 16 weeks by then, but I think i have to go with what feels safe for me. Not telling extra people either, until dd knows... only those who kind of need to know, iyswim..... (and that does not include mil )

libbyssister · 28/01/2008 13:28

Pregnacare were half price in Sainsbury's last week when I went and stocked up. I bought 3 boxes!

alittlebitshy · 28/01/2008 13:39

I'm still just taking folic acid. I can't fathom taking the vits i have stashed away cos the folic acid ones make me gag sometimes, and they're miniscule. once i've stopped being sick, i'll take the full on vits.
Am i bad?

Shazza2002 · 28/01/2008 13:44

Glad you still managed to have a good weekend alittlebitshy, even if it didn't start out that way

Thanks for that libbyssister, I am due some more.

I realised I sounded a bit daft mentioning about the vitamins, I'm sure you're all probably taken them already so I probaby just stated he obvious

Buckets · 28/01/2008 13:57

I've only been managing about 3 or 4 pills a week, just can't face the idea of puking them up.
Consolation for those not 'getting any' - we had sex Friday night and I've been extra vomity ever since. DH is convinced his amazing sexual powers are to blame natch but TBH I'm starting to believe it. I'll be 12wks on Wednesday but I feel sicker than ever.

Shazza2002 · 28/01/2008 14:07

Some women don't manage to take anything atall so I wouldn't worry. I just mentioned them cause I'm sure they've helped me feel better than I would have done over the past 12 weeks. So was just trying to help. Didn't mean to sound like I was preaching to anybody

sarahnh · 28/01/2008 14:39

i am taking the santogen one's, they were horrific when i was feeling sick, i could barely manage to take them, but now the sickness has worn off they don't seem to affect me!!! I am definitely going to continue to take them, as my diet is awful, i seem tyo live off crackers, soup, cheeses and lots and lots of sweeties..

Shazza2002 · 28/01/2008 14:44

My diet is ok, I just eat too much!!!

sarahnh · 28/01/2008 14:58

has anyone had any majot cravings yet?? I seem to only want to eat crackers and cheese, although i have an overwhelming desire for curry but i don't like it???xxx

Shazza2002 · 28/01/2008 15:12

Well all I want to drink is strawberry milkshakes and orange juice, not together though

Food cravings is definitley sour, not so much sweet.

I absolutely love curries, but have had 2 since bing pregnant and not enjoyed them one bit. Really wanted chinese the other night too (what did I say about my diet being fine ) had it and didn't enjoy that either. So now I'm off both curry and chinese, maybe this pregnancy will do me good after all

libbyssister · 28/01/2008 15:15

I with you on the cheese Sarah... I've got a bag of Mini Babybels in the fridge and eat them like sweeties! And last night it was cheese scones after cheese & pickle sandwiches at lunchtime...

sarahnh · 28/01/2008 15:17

i had cheese and pickle sandwiches for lunch, babybells hmmmmmmmmmm, got to get me some of them and now!!!!x

libbyssister · 28/01/2008 15:18

Might have to be macaroni cheese tonight...

ChaCha · 28/01/2008 15:44

Awww...thanks for congrats on scan msgs - made me feel good.

Shazza - Was interesting to read your thoughts on the vitamins, would i be too late to take the pregnacare or can you take it at anytime? I am very forgetful when it comes to taking pills, my osteopath gave me loads of vitamins and minerals and i'd always forget...even when placed next to kettle/window sill etc..

Abitshy - Aghhh...sorry to hear about DH but had to smile at DD's excitement at detour. And lol at bread and meringue, sweet!

I keep going for pineapple, grapefruit, cold oranges, samosas (courtesy of local store), curries etc.. but my main thing is salty french fries with orange crush (lots of ice) from local chicken place. Had it with both boys! Only difference this PG i think is my aversion to coke. Strange.

Is getting easier to remember some of you now iyswim, with so many names at the beginning and lots of lots of info to take in, now i'm beginning to place info with the names etc.. Hope that makes sense.

Pincy Pants - LOL

With only one child awake will go and enjoy some quiet - some

stickybean · 28/01/2008 16:54

Hi Everyone,

Haven't said anything for a while, not much been going on. Its so exciting seeing people hit the 12 week mark and getting scans.
I am 10+2 today, scan 2 weeks today...just don't know how i am going to wait that long!

Feeling positive for the most part but having a bad day today, feel restless and nervous for no paticular reason, feel quite negative. Am putting it down to hormones and having not told anyone about the pregnancy, so i think it kind of feel like a fantasy.

Is anyone showing yet??? I am in a way that i can tell and my husband can but not in a way that other people can, trousers def a bit on the tight side and massive hard belly late at night.

Anyway, better get back to work, just thought i'd check in

xxx
