Hi all,
Waiting for scan next week (12 weeks) and feeling distinctly underwhelmed. Won't feel excited until I see the pics. Have bought a brilliant new handbag to see me though the waiting though. Haven't put on any weight in 4 weeks - is that normal? Crying at stupid TV shows too. Am going to go eat some chocolate!! Chin up girls.

HelzBellz · 22/01/2008 19:20

Advice needed pls -
Sorry - new to this and feeling very silly and under-informed... Saw my GP end of Dec (underwhelming to say the least, not even a 'congrats'), and advised to make a MW appointment at the local health centre - will be in 2 weeks.
No idea when/how/if I should book a scan - assuming MW will advise but I'll be 12 weeks by then and worried I'll be told off for leaving it too late. How did everyone else make the arrangements? Thnx

Buckets · 22/01/2008 19:26

Lcy, assuming you don't have flexitime then? With my first I was able to take a half day every week (annual leave or flex) from the first trimester right up to maternity leave. It was really helpful.
Later on, things like aquanatal and parentcraft classes count as antenatal care so technically they should allow you time off for that anyway.

Hardygirl - I'm avoiding newspapers and any tv or books where a child could possibly be sad in it. We collected holiday tokens in the Sun the other week - what an awful paper, so gleeful in its horror tales and that poor family (whose name I won't mention as we're all feeling tearful) in it everyday.

dizzydixies · 22/01/2008 19:50

HelzBellz - why not phone the antenatal at the hosp yourself and see if you can self refer for a scan? The Dr should have send them notification but no harm in chasing it up - I think they're used to those phone calls anyway, I certainly phoned ours to make sure and they were very pleasant about it!

Ah Lcy it WILL pass! I remember when pg with dd1 there was an advert on tv for the ideal homes exhibition - just a wee cartoon thing with a car pulling a caravan - the problem with it was the played the littlest hobo as the theme tune behind it - well it ended me EVERY SINGLE TIME, was a blubbering mess for hours wondering if that wee dog every made it home, it was then I truely began to wonder about my sanity!!! lol

Lcy · 22/01/2008 19:59

Thanks dizziedixies and buckets - will speak to work tommorow and take some leave for the next couple of weeks. DH keeps telling me "its ok your busy growing bones". Just needed to hear that it will pass! Thanks again - off to bed now

hardygirl · 22/01/2008 20:34

Thanks Buckets. I'm in tears every day - always children or animals. By the way is anyone else ridiculously thirsty? I've just drunk 800ml straight down - hardly breathed between gulps!

CaptainCaveman · 22/01/2008 21:17

Awww, big hugs to you sobby ladies. I remember crying when reading the Heinz baby food adverts when pg with ds. It read something like "lovingly crafted by mummies for their babies" - wtf, I sobbed every time i saw it . I also cried in Tescos once because they had no fresh prawns left!

I am finding the opposite problem in that I want to giggle, a lot! Got a 'cold' caller this evening from some travel firm so i passed the phone to ds who proceeded to sing 'bananas in pyjamas with blubber in your face' to the fella on the other end of the phone. All I could hear was this bloke with an Indian accent saying, "please may i speak with mrs self" - for some reason this was the funniest thing on the planet and i was crying with laughter (for the record, dh thought it was amusing too!)

HelzBellz · 22/01/2008 21:32

Thanks Dizzie - will give it a try, don't know why I didn't think of it, doh!
PS Yes I'm drinking SO much water and hardly need to pee, weird! Must be making up for the lack of alchohol

TwilightSurfer · 22/01/2008 23:14

You know I laughed at everything my whole pregnancy with DD and now I'm finding myself a bit of a cry baby. Could that be the sign we're all looking for??? Is it a boy or girl...well do you want to laugh or cry? Honestly I'm probably crying because I'm so blasted tired!!

Made it through day of my little remodel. The carpenters did an excellent job. DH is due home any minute. I hope he feels the same. One more major construction day tomorrow then one minor day next week. All that will be left is the painting. I'll do that when the weather warms and I can open the house for the day. I love to paint!

Wishing all a restful night.

CaptainCaveman · 23/01/2008 03:14

Why oh why am i up at 3am? first ds woke me up by getting in to our bed saying he was cold and lonely. Then I feel sick so eat my emergency mini cheddars, which then give me heartburn - gah!
Have given up lying there awake and am having a hot chocolate, having eaten some indigestion remedy. Hoping to go back to bed soon and get some sleeeeeep.

It;s nice and quiet though!

Morning all! Hope everyone is well, can't keep up with this thread, it grows so much between MN visits my eyes go funny reading through it. I might sit down tomorrow and catch up, waaay too tired at the mo - not been to sleep yet, just been tossing and turning since I went to bed about 2 ish. Still getting morning sickness, although it seems to be I throw up in the eveningtime more. Hit 12 weeks today (if it's Wednesday - I think it is??) which feels soooo good, waiting for the burst of energy and the pregnancy glow (!??!) you're supposed to get. 12 week scan isn't for another week, well just over as it's on the 31st. Still getting pains in my tummy, where they said the cyst (or cysts I can't even remember now!) is (or are). Too scared to sneeze because you can almost feel it wanting to burst or something, hopefully it'll be gone by next week though. Nothing new to add, feeling tired, sick and generally pants still but at least DH has a few days off work which means sleeeeeeep and not having to grab naps on the sofa with DS bashing cars on my head. Big {{hugs}} to everyone until I roll back on again sometime and manage to catch up xxxxx

Pinchypants · 23/01/2008 10:22

Hi ladies,
I'm new to the August 2008 antenatal club, so good morning! I'm ten weeks tomorrow, due 23 August, although hoping baba number two will be a few days early like DD so we are all roaring Leos apart from my poor DH!

I've been very nauseous and sick this time round, much worse than before, and this morning I hit a new low cos I was actually violently sick WHILE DRIVING after dropping DD at nursery. Utter grimness. Luckily I work at home so was able to strip off clothes and clean out car promptly, but will prob need to buy one of those pine fresheners...Needless to say, DH more worried about car than me! Serves me right for thinking that a protein milkshake for breakfast would be a good thing. Back on the sugary carbs, then..

Have a good day all - will read through thread and try and get acquainted with you all.

Pinchy x

btw dizzy - how come you're at the top and bottom of the list? - that's one looooong birth you're planning

CaptainCaveman · 23/01/2008 12:08

lol, dizzy hedging her bets there....

welcome pinchy - you will forever remind me of the Simpsons episode where Homer rears a lobster - whose name is Pinchy!! Anyway, enough of my inane ramblings. Congratulations. Eww to car vomiting, did that myself last saturday.

sarah I keep getting the most awful 'aches' whenever I need to poo (sorry, tmi!!). Kind of like that horrid wave of cold sweat you get when you have a tummy bug, and you need to crap or vomit. Once I've 'been' i'm fine again , and am not constipated etc. Did not have this with ds but then what's normal anyway!

Could be things stretching? Or as you say, if you are feeling unwell in yourself, you may have picked up a bug? Is dd ok if she was up so often in the night? Might have caught something from her?? Praying you soon feel much better and the pains go away again ((((sarah))))

mum2go · 23/01/2008 13:34

hi there ladies how is ev1 doing today?

sarahnh · 23/01/2008 13:42

thanks captain, really feel truly awful so maybe it is a bug but these pains are really quite severe, particularly down my right side but i think i am nearly 11 weeks so too late for an etopic i hope x

pertelote · 23/01/2008 13:49

Hullo everyone! Been lurking for a few weeks watching the thread grow and grow and feeling glad (and a little guilty, and a little scared!) to be so symptom-free... But I thought I'd stick my head up to say I've a) hit 12 weeks, hurrah! and b) had my first scan - just fantastic to see the little thing bouncing around. All looked good - they did an NT measurement and took blood for combined screening, so I won't hear about that for a few days, but s/he has two arms, two legs and a heartbeat - that's good enough for me! They also brought my EDD forward to 1st August so either time warped strangely in early November or I'm growing a giant baby...

Hope everyone else will have happy scan days very soon if they haven't already.

pertelote · 23/01/2008 13:51

Oh god sarahnh, so sorry - didn't mean to be insensitive. Hope it is a bug and nothing too horrible at that.

poppysocks · 23/01/2008 14:32

So sorry to hear you're feeling rough and so worried Sarahnh. If there's no bleeding that has to be good. How are your other symptoms?

CaptainCaveman · 23/01/2008 14:58

hmm sarah, if they don't get any better is it sensible to call your gp? or nhs direct? I would definately, even if just for them to say "oh shut up you stupid woman, you're pregnant fgs!" (which I'm sure they wouldn't!!

Agree to late for ectopic - unless you have the world's largest diameter fallopian tubes?

ASSIGNMENT IS DONE!! Just got the bibliography and a little summary to do. Yippee. No more studying for at least 14 months . I think I may be developing a pressure sore though from sitting on my ass solidly for past 3 days!

CaptainCaveman · 23/01/2008 14:59

Congrats pertelote on your scan!! and for getting to 12 weeks. Even better they bought your due date forwards!!!
