Ds is a Thomas (or Tom for short), definately not a Tommy though, reminds me of sad 80s 'comedians' Canon & Ball "rock on Tommy" (said with Yorkshire accent!)

Dh has the final say over the name of no 2 (with my agreement!)- seeing as I was allowed to choose ds's name (with his approval of course, although it wasn't his first choice). I'm happy with his choices but am forbidden to share .

Our surname is Self so could go for something original like 'Do it Your' or 'treat your' or any other precursor to Self you can think of!!

dizzydixies · 22/01/2008 15:10

other ones we considered at the time of both girls were

Arwyn for girl
Corin or Caleb for a boy

Phoebe/Rudy/Dylan for a girl

Roan/Reuben for a boy

am sure I still have a list somewhere from the last time - will look it out
DH doesn't like most of my suggestions so I go down the cunning route of suggestion the most ridiclious ones first so by the time we get to the ones I REALLY like he thinks they're more normal lol

FoghornLeghorn · 22/01/2008 15:16

DH is Thomas and desperately wanted to call the baby Thomas if it was a boy but I think I've convinced him not to now, thank god !

We liked Dylan for a boy when pregnant with DD2 but BIL nabbed it in the August before DD2 was born in the November and we also liked Lola for a girl which other BIL nabbed 2 weeks before DD2 was born. TBH, I'm glad we've got neither of those now.

Chosing names is soooooo hard - we'll all probably chop and change 50 times between now and babies arriving

longwayfromhome · 22/01/2008 15:23

Ooooh names. I like Isabel Hope for a girl and Thomas Christian for a boy. DH hasn't said much to these which I suspect means that he doesn't like them and is just avoiding the discussion at the moment ...

Oh I like Christian.

IlanaK · 22/01/2008 15:27

Finally got an appointment through! I will see the midwife next wednesday and the scan on thursday (both at incredibly inconvenient times of course). I will be just over 13 and a half weeks at both.

Just to add into the names: we like classic biblical ones. I have two sons who are Aaron and ELye. No idea for another boys name, but I like Hannah and Leah for girls.

TwilightSurfer · 22/01/2008 15:32

Elijah (Eli) is what one of my cousins named her little boy. She named her little girl Adeena...i think both are Jewish names.

poppysocks · 22/01/2008 15:35

I know what you mean about names that don't date. Difficult to work it out at the time. Some popular names now won't date, while others are around for such a short time and you don't know 'til they're gone!

TS - I think a boy would be Thomas Edward John, so almost like your uncle. Edward after DH and John after both of our fathers and a smattering of uncles and brothers. Now there's a name that doesn't seem to disappear!

CaptainCaveman · 22/01/2008 15:42

My oh my TS we'll probably dicover soon that we are actually related!! My mum was adopted and her biological dad was an american airman so you never know!!

Just stopping for a quick tea break before i crack on with 'performance measures and the balanced scorecard' - "how exciting" I hear you cry .

OP posts:
Lcy · 22/01/2008 15:47

Hope you are all ok..

I cried at work today . It is so pathetic but i am so tired and feeling so overwhelmed with everything i have to do at the moment I just couldnt hold it together. Luckily boss knows i am pregnant and let me come home early.

I love the name Ella, Rose, Lily, Jack, Harry, and Owain (Welsh spelling)

IlanaK · 22/01/2008 15:48

Yes, Elye is a Jewish name. Usually spelled Eli or Ely. We changed the spelling. Both names (Aaron and Elye) are old testament. But we are Jewish so that's ok

TwilightSurfer · 22/01/2008 15:49

Captain LOL

Carpenters are finally here. YEAH! One has been here before and has done a good job so I'm a little less stressed now. I did warn them I might puke without warning.

Poppy, Thomas Edward John is a perfect name.

TwilightSurfer · 22/01/2008 15:50

Owen's a family name for me. Might could add it to my list too. lcy

poppysocks · 22/01/2008 16:02

Oh Ilana what a pain about that scan date. I'm hoping that my original appointment stands for a fortnight's time (12+ weeks), because there's no way I could wait any longer. Extra days even would be too much to bear. I've started to believe that this might happen and so scared that I've got it all wrong. Plus the size of my tummy is making it rather obvious to some. Just hope there's someone (and only one!) in there and not just excessive January flab!

Dizzydixies - I'd forgotten about Phoebe. Love it, although slightly less post-Friends. Def. on the same wavelength as you name-wise.

Also forgotten about Ella, lcy. Another great one, but could be a bit confusing with a sister and cousin called that already!

MollieMooma · 22/01/2008 16:05

Hi I wondered if someone can take me off your list - it's a bit too technical for me
Thanks

TwilightSurfer · 22/01/2008 16:16

Mollie so sorry. I glad to see you've already joined the MC Avengers. Great group. They will see you through this minor setback.

Hello all. I'm still around. Had a scan last Friday and all was ok (I was 11 weeks on Saturday). Due date now 9 August so I have changed the list (and my name from my xmas one!).

Felt more sick this week than any other time but also have a stinking cold. Going back to work after current mat leave on Thursday and absolutely dreading telling them I am pregnant. Wish me luck!

ChaCha · 22/01/2008 17:30

Hi all,

Man, you guys can talk for England!!!! Took a while to catch up. Loved reading all your names, way too early for me yet but i will definitely think about it when we know the gender. Our DS1 is Zane/Zayn after Billy Zane of course (only joking but loved him as a teenager) and our DS2 has the arabic of Joseph. Love the names Ilana - really, very nice.

Congrats on the upgrade from toast to cheese on toast Glad all who were unwell feeling better and that Lcy you have had a rest - glad they sent you home.

no sickness today (11+2) just very, very hungry and have cooked lots xx

Buckets · 22/01/2008 17:33

Hey Caveman, my FIL was a GI baby, they certainly got around didn't they? My DH gets his mysterious dark colouring from him (could be Greek-, Jewish-, Italian-American?) but both our kids are fair and blue eyed like everyone else in our families. So unless this one is different, that's the end of the GI genepool (that we know of). Would be nice to have a child that actually looks like its dad one day LOL.

Buckets · 22/01/2008 17:37

Lcy - know how you feel. I went home for lunch once during my first pregnancy and DH happened to be off that day. I just got through the door and burst into tears, he had to phone my boss and tell her I wasn't going back in that afternoon!

Lcy · 22/01/2008 18:58

Thanks ChaCha and Buckets - just had a massive cry on DH (he has now gone out to get chocolate - men love to fix things). I am really hoping this tiredness and general feeling of being overwhelmed will go soon. Its not just work though - i have been trying to ignore how worried i have been feeling about miscarrying again and i think it is all just hitting me. I am going to take some hours off as annual leave over the next couple of weeks so i can get some rest.Sorry to talk about sad stuff - i will be again tommorow after a good nights sleep!

HelzBellz · 22/01/2008 19:14

Thanks for all he lovely welcomes, I feel at home already!
I've had trouble eating more than a small mouthful of anything, although not been too fussy so far (more's the pity, could do to lose a few inches!) Loving the vegetable soup with cheese on toast though, yum!
