finally added self to list.
Was nervous about doing so cos it seemed so real.....

Well done on 12 WEEKS Foghornleghorn!. My turn on Sunday!

feeling sick as usual and while i know eating will help, there is nothing that i want to eat. grr

Buckets · 18/01/2008 13:29

Try some hot ribena and honey, like when you've got a cold.

alittlebitshy · 18/01/2008 13:30

but that might make me feel sick < pathetic>

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

Buckets · 18/01/2008 13:41

But it's nicer to throw up drinks than solids isn't it? Plus if you do keep any of it down, think of all that lovely sugar to give you energy and help keep the nausea at bay for a little while.
How about hot water with sugar dissolved in it and a squeeze of lemon juice?

VintageGardenia · 18/01/2008 14:03

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well. Sorry some people are still having horrible morning sickness, how debilitating it is.

I popped out at lunchtime to M&S - underwear dept - oh dear the maternity bras. I have gone up 2 sizes (shudder) already and have invested in two of the most unappetising bras you could imagine! Vast white things with inch wide straps and huge cups. However, nice M&S lady who measured me said was the best thing to do and had to be well supported and soft (no underwire as can damage breast tissue as growing) for next 6 months and beyond. So I just thought I'd share her advice with you all. Have just realised how many of my posts relate to underwear ... a slight preoccupation of mine.

miamla · 18/01/2008 14:09

alittlebitshy...where abouts do you live? my new location (we're moving in a month or so i hope, fingers crossed) will be Woodford

alittlebitshy · 18/01/2008 14:38

miamia - barkingside!!!!! dd is at school in s woodford. wow!!!!

ChaCha · 18/01/2008 15:09

Hey, congratulations to those of you hitting the 12 week milestone 10 days to go yet, am actually excited about this scan, was not bothered about the earlier one - sort of feels more official this one and yes, finally we can tell everyone!!!

The wonderful thing about this PG is that after the odd coke on ice in the very beginning the thought of coke now makes me feel very sick, sprite is doing quite well and the odd fanta orange. Tea is still unbearable.
Speaking of maternity bras i am using the ones i had last year but do need to get a couple more - i'd only just gotten measured again a few months ago and had bought some lovely girly items for a change after having had 2 years of PG!

Cupboards a bit bare here but some grilled veg on cous cous went down a treat. So far so good. x

TwilightSurfer · 18/01/2008 15:48

YEAH!! Foghorn. Yes, let's party for your milestone. [Twilight dances in her chair whilst sitting in a packed cafe.]

MS seems to be falling off a bit but heartburn is so bad I could cry. Phone doc this morning for a prescription to help. Nurse called back asking me to try one more other the counter med first. ARGHH. Anything to get rid of this tennis ball caught in my throat....which is giving me a massive headache no less.

9+6 today....miscarried last one at this point. No signs of miscarriage so YEE HAW time to party!!!!

Buckets · 18/01/2008 16:32

Hey TS, nearly past D-day then, hurray. Have you tried drinking copious amounts of milk?
I too seem to be a lot less nauseous, just before mealtimes at the moment and the odd retching fit but don't think I've actually been sick this week, wow.
Just bought another 2nd hand nappy online. I know it's tempting fate but have fallen for 2 types which are expensive to buy new and don't get resold very often so I reckon it might take me 6months to build up the requisite numbers. Have started a spreadsheet to track how much (or how little)this baby will cost us equipmentwise .

VintageGardenia · 18/01/2008 17:32

Well Buckets I never heard of anyone buying a second hand nappy online before! . I hope it arrived in good condition.

Buckets · 18/01/2008 17:52

Haven't you? It's just the same as buying toddler trousers 2nd hand, some kid has probably peeed/pooed in those too.

VintageGardenia · 18/01/2008 18:01

Oh I see! Maybe you could pass a few on to me when you're done with them then.

Buddhababe · 18/01/2008 18:08

Hi all

Haven't posted in ages. I see some of you have reached the 12 weeks, thats great! I went for my scan last night and saw my little bean, i am 8 weeks and 3 days so hopefully I will get the to 12 week mark with no issues. Morning sickness has passed more or less. I am not eating very healthily i must admit, I have to force myself to eat fruit which I didn't have to do before. I am debating whether to head to the gym tonight for a swim. I am going to Virgin Active and it is always so packed after work, a quiet peaceful swim is outta the question. Anyway, I haven't read through all the posts yet but hope to soon when I get some time.

take care

alittlebitshy · 18/01/2008 18:20

yeah, 2md hand cloth nappies is a BIG trade. My sil has bought all of hers for our niece 2nd hand - either at nearly new sales, or maybe ebay?! And from what she says, you often don't get much of a price cut on 2nd hand compared to new....

Buckets · 18/01/2008 18:35

Yeah, they hold their price really well so when your baby grows out of them you can sell them on and spend the money on yourself.
VG - tell me you're not tempted by these? Check out the different colours!

CaptainCaveman · 18/01/2008 18:37

foghorn that is marvellous news - yay!!

Now ladies - if you want nice pg underwear get yourselves to your nearest Bravissimo. Fab fab fab. I love their undies.
Slight contradiction in whether or not to use underwires - I was told not to(by a John Lewis bra fitter) for same reasons as VG. But, according to the lady in Bravissimo, if you wear the correct size bra this shouldn't be an issue.
Bras in my last pg were very uncomfy as were underwires. However, since I've been fitted at Bravissimo I will never go anywhere else!! Super comfy and v supportive.

Bloody tired today, could sleep for England!

Buckets that's funny that you're keeping a spreadsheet on this little. Truly sounds like something I would do but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I bought a three onsies just before I miscarried in November. Then a few weeks ago I ran across those shirts that cross over and snap kinda like a half onsie (no bottom). They were no where to be found when DD was tiny so I bought two packs of short sleeve ones. You can usually score three of the long sleeve ones during the hospital stay. I just love them so I had to get them. As far as I can tell everything else I'll need will be coming from friends who are trying to rid themselves of all their baby stuff. This keeps me from overspending, I guess. I just LOVE to shop so we'll see.

Very impressed by all the nappie users. There's loads I will do but keeping the little one in nappies full time is just not something I can accomplish. When I nannied, one of the four children wore them 50% of the time...when we were at home or near home. It wasn't so bad but I didn't have to do the wash (the mother was very specific about how certain things were done so typically she did those special things herself).

Yes, D-day is almost over...5 more hours to be exact. Not only does that make me smile but my grandmother has come back fighting with a vengence and will be release back to her care alz care facility in a few hours. YEAH!!

As for the heartburn, I took one Pepcid 20mg dose at 11:30AM. I'm no longer in severe pain and the headache has eased but I still feel like it's there slightly. It might take a couple of days for the medication to set up shop so to speak but it's way better than this morning. I've done the massive amounts of milk and a hundred other remedies but NOTHING's been working. I don't even think it was the MS that caused me to puke this morning I think it was the heartburn...that's just how bad it's gotten. Oh well, at least that means my pregnancy is NORMAL!

VintageGardenia · 18/01/2008 19:07

What a sweet little velour packet! A far cry from the mangled old Pampers I had envisaged. I must admit I have not bought any baby stuff, not so much as a scratch mitt.

warthog · 18/01/2008 22:10

i didn't know about not wearing underwire bras in my last pregnancy and wore them right up to the end

not looking forward to maternity bras again. they form my chest into a shapeless sausage.

Welcome milliemoomoo, hope you aren't feelilng too rough with your pg - congratulations btw!

Felt decidedly ill this morning - felt a bit shivery after going to the loo (sorry if tmi!) and was retching. Anyway, played hockey ok. Had a drink of soda and lime after - well had a few sips as it made me feel sick. Managed to get as far as the exit of our sports ground before I had to jump out of the car to vomit. ewwww.

Feeling better now, it must have been the soda and lime that did it!
