Sounds like something out of Harry Potter...

Scampmum · 21/01/2008 15:53

...and the Hardship of Mammary Nectar?

Soph73 · 21/01/2008 16:02

LOL. Do you think if we wrote a book we could be as rich as JK Rowling. Could really do with the cash

Scampmum · 21/01/2008 16:10

Or maybe we could send her new ideas in exchange for one day's INTEREST on her fortune. That would probably set us up for life (between us).

KnitterInTheNW · 21/01/2008 16:24

Sorry for interrupting Harry Potterage, but WE JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!! My baby boy won't have to grow up living in cardboard boxes!!! I really want to link to it so everyone can see, but then everyone would know exactly where I'll be living! not a good idea! (I hasten to add, you'd all be welcome round for a cuppa any time, but who knows who else is looking?!)

Soph73 · 21/01/2008 16:28

As my DH keeps saying "it's only money." Just a shame we haven't got any. Couldn´t even resort to selling my body now ... thinking about it I would only have got loose change before Obviously destined to be skint - hey ho

Scampmum · 21/01/2008 16:29

Congrats Knitter! When are you moving?

Soph73 · 21/01/2008 16:30

Knitter - how wonderful, I´ll throw out all those boxes I was keeping for you just in case Couldn´t you just link a picture of the house without any other details so we can all have a good nosey?

Peachy · 21/01/2008 16:40

EllieG · 21/01/2008 16:54

Congrats knitter! And there was you saying you didn't think you would like it.

It's a bit beige for our liking, but it's really clean and well maintained, so we don't need to do anything straight away, which is a good job seeing as we'll be moving when junior's a few weeks old!!

Mollyfloss · 21/01/2008 17:38

Greetings from Dublin. It was quite a bumpy flight!

Congrats Knitter, it looks fab!!! I'd kill for a garden that size (that's the problem with central London, we have small terrace and we're lucky at that!) By the way, what is a birth ball?

Just read below all the stuff on bf, mastitis etc. and didn't understand a word!!!

Regarding being pregnant, I always loved the idea of having kids but the thought of being pregnant was something didn't really like and I would just have to put up with it. I actually don't mind it at all. It's actually quite nice (except for the first 3 months which were hell!). I feel fine, everyone is nice to me and the best part is the anticipation, I can't wait to meet my little daughter

I am thinking now about what to use as a labour bag. I suppose it would be a bit weird to bring in my little suitcase on wheels. I always imagined myself with some pastel coloured soft bag... hmmm...

I have bought quite a bit but not gone overboard. I an a bit of an overorganised freak too but hate having tons of clutter especially if I don't end up using the stuff. I made DH throw out 2 bags of clothes yesterday as he had filled up the wardrobe in the baby's room.

SuzeM · 21/01/2008 17:48

Hi all, took me ages to catch up.

Seville was great, lovely and sunny, in contrast to London!

Molly, have a good time in Baile Átha Cliath. Yes, I managed to get a place in the NCT class in Fulham. My uncle was a doctor at St Thomas' for a couple of years and he assures me I'll be fine there. Hope so.

Does anyone know if NCT classes go over how to look after the baby, changing and bathing, etc or is it all preparation for childbirth? Because I have no idea what to do with the baby when I leave the hospital!

KnitterInTheNW, congratulations on the house sale and the new house.

TheMaskedPoster and VS, hope you are feeling better.

Eva, I have bought nothing either (nothing of any use, that is, a Juicy couture changing bag doesn't really count as that's for me!). I plan to put in a big order at kiddicare.com at the beginning of March.

Scorpio, glad you had a great day, looking forward to the photos.

I love feeling the baby kick but I don't particularly like being pregnant, I can't really complain or say why as I haven't had a bad time. I have a nice new symptom now though, swollen ankles, this will force me to abandon my heels.

scorpio1 · 21/01/2008 17:58

I don't mind being pregnant, sometimes i love it and sometimes i find it hard what with everything i have to do and no rest time in the day.

DH is going out to the cinema tonight, i fully intend to sit in the bath forever and watch the soaps. Poor Vera, eh??

i don't really want to get a bag ready yet, will wait until 35 weeks ish. i am having this one at home but i want to have a bag ready just incase and not have to worry. will pack minimal things in it though, so its not much to unpack!!

Last time i didnt pack a change of clothes and my waters broke all over my tracksuit bottoms, so i went home in paper pants and a tshirt .

Have got MW on wednesday, the 3rd time i have seen her and im 29 weeks on friday. i have to have a blood test to check my iron levels, i really hate blood tests .

Although i will get to hear her heart beating away

How is everyone then? i have to have 2 weeks off uni again, Jamie's threadworm has come back since he started at nursery again. I told them to throughly clean the nursery last time, and to let parents know but he still got them again!! Have a docs appt tomorrow to check that i am doing everything right to avoid infetion and to ask if i can have the med this time as a precautionary measure. Bloody kids!!

KnitterInTheNW · 21/01/2008 18:16

birth ball

Someone at our NCT classes had one that they brought in last week, and it was sooo comfy to sit on, I had to get one! Got mine from ebay and it was £20 inc p+p, and came with a pump and free 'goodie bag' which had a pack of 4 washcloths, 2 avent breast pads, sample of avent nipple cream, sample of avent magic cream, and an organic maternity pad(!). I like freebies!

PortAndLemon · 21/01/2008 18:39

Suze -- Fulham is in with Putney for the NCT! Are your classes in Sheen? If so you may have the same instructor I had...

Our NCT classes talked about some aspects of looking after the baby, but they'll be guided to an extent by what you want as there's unlikely to be a huge number of you in the class.

Knitter -- I think you've still given away too much information there. I was able to Google and come up with the address (well, the street name and area, anyway). Looks fab, though!

EllieG · 21/01/2008 19:21

Ah threadworm - back to reality with abump eh scorpio?

knitter - have bought yarn off ebay - waiting for them to email me the total amount and then can pay. Hopefully should be with you in a couple of days yey!

at everyone who's just had lovely weekends away in Seville/Paris!

PortAndLemon · 21/01/2008 20:22

Arse. I failed my GTT.

Mollyfloss · 21/01/2008 20:39

PAL: What a bummer! does this mean you have gestational diabetes or do they have to test some more? (I'm presuming GTT is your glucose test)

Knitter: Thanks for the link on the ball. It basically looks like a pilates or yoga ball. We have one at home so I should try sitting on it to help my back.

PortAndLemon · 21/01/2008 21:25

The not-terribly-informative letter says they've made an appointment for me at the diabetes clinic, so I'm guessing it counts as gestational diabetes.

On the bright side, searching through Mumsnet archives the recommended gestational diabetes diet is pretty much a low-GI diet, which is supposed to be very healthy in general, so I've ordered a few books on that.

PortAndLemon · 21/01/2008 21:33

I know some people on here are registered at Kingston -- whereabouts is the antenatal clinic in the main hospital? (I normally go to Queen Mary's antenatally, but the diabetic clinic is in the Kingston antenatal clinic, apparently, and I haven't the faintest idea where that is).

KnitterInTheNW · 21/01/2008 22:42

Ah well portandlemon, you'll just have to stalk me with ellie!

KnitterInTheNW · 22/01/2008 07:41

Actually I've just asked for the post with all the house details on to be deleted, I hadn't thought sbout the fact that google can do EVERYTHING!

Carey87 · 22/01/2008 10:30

Hi! I'm new to the site! I'm due April 23rd and I've just started getting Braxton Hicks! Man they are strange!!! Bf is going into meltdown because he thinks I'm going into labour!!! Soooo funny! Youve got to love them!
