hello!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
skidaddle · 17/12/2007 11:52

hi all, had a quick catch up and huge congrats to melly, cazzy, insy... oh no i've forgotten the others - sorry!!

Suey it sounds like it really can't be that far off although it must be so frustrating for you to seem so close and then it come to nothing. But I'm sure in the next few days it won;t come to nothing - it'll come to a baby!!

all the best to the rest of you - will be checking regularly to see how you're getting on...

suey2 · 17/12/2007 13:51

ffs. have just had an email from work. They are upgrading the lift in our buildling and have just presented me with a bill for over £6,500 for my share. No warning, no nothing. due in january. If my blood pressure is anything other than through the roof when i see the MW this afternoon i will be very surprised.
Had to cash in an endowment policy just to pay myself some mat pay. How the hell am i going to find 6.5K?

Fuck, it is times like this i wish i didn't run my own business

OP posts:
FurryFox · 17/12/2007 14:05

Suey that is shocking

loucee · 17/12/2007 14:06

Suey that is ridiculous. I am gobsmacked and it's nothing to do with me. No use me telling you not to get stressed about it cos that is just hideous.

Hope you can sort something out.

Just had a wee freezer delivered and it's got 3 dents in it - how crap is that! It's just for the garage but still.

FurryFox · 17/12/2007 14:13

I hate it when things are delivered and damaged. I always feel that when DH and I buy things they always end up having screws/bolts/handles missing or dents etc, so annoying.

Amani · 17/12/2007 14:34

Congratulations SKID and INSY

Nothing much to say other than STILL PREGNANT.....really would like this baby by sat (to do with DH leave etc)

BunnyBaby · 17/12/2007 16:12

Furry - that's awful, hope you hear back soon. Kick up a fuss!

My midwife came to see me today,

I'm now 40 + 14 by LMP and 40 + 19 by scan. As I am as regular as clockwork, it is unusual to go over the 42 week threshold (usually happens if you have say a 35 day cycle).

It would seem that by "hubby sweeps" this weekend worked somewhat. My cervix was a lot better and she was able to do a sweep today.

So this afternoon we have hatched a plan for the coming few days.

Tomorrow I have to go to the hospital for monitoring. I believe they will put me under a lot of pressure to induce. Me and DH will negotiate for daily monitoring, and if nothing by Thursday and induction on Friday. I'm also going to see my reflexologist for her to do a stronger priming treatment tomorrow evening,

MIdwife is round Wednesday, and she will try and induce through cervical pressure points.

I have to be monitored as hospital on Thursday and it is likely they will induce me then - though I would prefer Friday.

Hopefully Baby decides to come earlier than Friday

Lots of vibes to those also waiting.

Bunny Baby

Lizzer · 17/12/2007 17:08

Congratulations to insy and skid!! Wow the gang's about half and half now (with lo's that is) Can't wait til there's no one left and we're all moaning about being tired and sore nips in post-natal thread!!

Suey2, that is so shocking I feel so sorry for you, its the last thing you need...Is there anything you can do to spread the cost/avoid paying it?

Just to go back to the convo you were having with Furryfox about inductions, I've just had my 41w apt (completely that you didn't have one Furry btw) and the consultant has talked me into friday ... I was offered sat eve but dd's b'day on sun so knew i didn't want to be in then either and they wouldn't do xmas eve and they basically made me feel like shit for thinking I could go over past xmas day (ie you're risking the baby's life) I've just come back and feel so and and actually pretty useless..He was going to do a sweep but cervix only a finger width wide and 2cm's thick...I can't even thin my own cervix [weeps]!!!!

However, although I have got this date for Friday doesn't mean I have to show up [lizzer hatches evil plan mwahhaha!!]

Suey2 I feel similar to you, I am tall with perfect hips for childbirth too and know I can do this on my own after not being given the chance with dd... But my ex-midwife mum keeps saying, "once they're in the world you won't care how they got there!" True, I guess....

Sorry, rant over. I like your dh's list BT!!!

Bunny, I bet you will get a lot of hassle to get in and be induced as I was told of all the dangers and the daily monitoring I would have to have blah blah blah... I think you have the patience of a saint though Bunny, you must be a super positive person in RL to make it this far without moaning OR giving in to pressure. You go girl

Bouncingturtle · 17/12/2007 17:34

Poor Lizzer - what an awkward position to be in with your dd's birthday - course you don't want to miss it! Consultant could be a bit more sympathetic!
Been having tummy ache again on and off today, don't know if it is just nerves, precursor to labour or too much blahdy pineapple
Dull ache most of the time then it gets stronger and I have to go to the loo!
Dh also wants baby out early because of leave.
Get a bit pissed off with his exgf and fil hassling us trying to firm up arrangements for Xmas, can't do it until baby arrives and sick of telling them!

FurryFox · 17/12/2007 17:53

Bunny - Glad your hubby sweeps seem to have worked. Let's hope you go into labour very soon and won't need the monitoring or induction

Lizzer - Sorry you are feeling pressured by consultant and feeling You are not useless, you have done a fantastic job for nine months of looking after your baby and don't for one second think any differently.

Well my MW finally rang a while ago and is seeing me at 10 tomorrow morning. I'm going to ask about induction as I think if I was offered it tomorrow I would jump at the chance (obviously I won't be offered it this early) but after the long day I've had just want to get things started. Will probably feel differently tomorrow if I get a good nights sleep but that probably won't happen either. Anyway at least I have my appointment so I really should stop moaning

Bouncing - Annoying about DHs ex and fil. It's obvious you can't make any solid arrangements when you're about to pop.

suey2 · 17/12/2007 17:55

just back from MW.
with you lizzer. induction booked for friday.
cervix like a carrot apparently. MW couldn't even get her finger in. I can't even thin my own cervix either.

shit day in the suey household. Am getting solicitor to look at the lease etc re bill, but these things will atke time and will not be resolved until into january.

OP posts:
loucee · 17/12/2007 17:56

Lizzer are you going for a VBAC or are you referring to induction with your DD? Hopefully baby will arrive before Friday but if not then hopefully the induction will go smoothly and quickly and the baby will be here

FurryFox · 17/12/2007 18:02

Right Suey and Lizzer as you are both my due date buddies I feel it only fair that I to have an induction on Friday but I hope for all of us that things kick off naturally before then and all our stresses will be for nothing.

Suey - Sorry you have had such a rubbish day, me too if it's any consilation.

Bouncingturtle · 17/12/2007 18:08

Good news about your apppointment Furry!

Suey - what a shock you've had, did they have to get the lift done now? Surely if you are responsible for part of the bill they should have discussed it with you first?

suey2 · 17/12/2007 18:20

BT they have warned us about the lift, but they did not tell us we would be paying for it. I was a bit worried, but my conveyancer at the time had insisted in a change to the clause in my lease. They cannot make improvements, they can only charge me for repairs. part of the reason for the change is the disability legislation, so could be deemed an improvement rather than a repair. Fortunately DH is a lawyer and one of his mates does property, so we will see. The letter from our landlord now i ahve seen it, is pretty conciliatory and has offered to accept staged payments. However, 6.5K is lot of cash when the only place it can come from is my own pocket. The staging doesn't really help me out either, even if a i do negotiate it.

insywinsyspider · 17/12/2007 19:40

Bunny ? I?ve heard reflexology is very good at inducing labour ? a friend of mine was going to recommend her acupuncturist too, she said it got things going for her

Good luck to all of you that have an induction date for Friday but I?m sending natural birth vibes to you all too ? hope you can beat the mw?s to it!

Suey ? haven?t got the gist of the conversation (no time to look at thread) but sorry to heard you?re having a shit day and hope it improves this week

We all good here ? ds came over to meet his little brother and was great with him but is still sick so didn?t stay long ? missing him like crazy but know its easier at the moment without him, he?ll be back tomorrow tho our first day together as a family of 4 ? apart from that only sore nipples to complain about... Does anyone know where I find the post natal thread??

insywinsyspider · 17/12/2007 19:55

don't worry found the thread - also piccie of toby now on my profile (or will be v shortly)

FurryFox · 17/12/2007 20:22

insy - Glad DS1 got to meet DS2 today even if only for a short while Glad everything else is going ok. Toby is gorgeous!!!

becklesparkle · 17/12/2007 20:53

Insy! Congrats on the arrival of Toby! Glad DS1 got to meet him for a brief time today, must feel a little unreal without him there but you will have time to bond as a family tomorrow!

Bouncing & Loucee, is annoying when you start getting the 'baby here yet?' calls! A friend called last night and we didn't hear the phone, called them back a few mins later and they were all excited thinking baby was coming - I wish!

Furry, grr that they struggled to get you an appointment! Glad you've got one now though, trouble is that there seems to be such a shortage of MWs that no-one gets great treatment.

Suey, at the lift! Hope your DH can sort something out, like you say, even in installments it is a lot of money.

Bunnybaby, am very impressed by how calm you are! Sending lots of 'natural labour' vibes to you (and to Lizzer, Suey and everyone else who is overdue or close).

Poor DS2 is a bit better today but had a bad night last night so am exhausted today, snoozed in front of CBeebies for an hour today! Have also reached the stage today where I can't actually bend in the middle - late pregnancy is sooo dignified!

cazzybabs · 17/12/2007 21:52

I am back - am tired and I need to be quick to feed Evie. I had the time from hell - well was admitted to hosptial with nmy high bp on Weds, was inducced on fri and came home today. C-section is not an easy option - would rather have normal delivery. Anyway she is here and safe and I am just sore and a little ccnsiptated (sorry if TMI) - anyway need to go and feed Evie. Have missed you all and look forward to catching up soon.

macdoodle · 17/12/2007 23:07

Very quiet everyone looking after new babies or waiting
Can't believe it has gone so quickly

suey2 · 18/12/2007 01:23

i guess there is only half of us left on here macdoodle!.
Unsurprisingly i don't think i will be getting much sleep tonight so have decided to give up for a bit, have a hot milky drink and read some trash.

gorgeous piccies insy! sorry you have had a crappy time cazzy

buzzybee · 18/12/2007 02:56

Have booked myself solid for this week on the basis that a watched pot never boils so if I have to cancel loads of things then she's bound to come!!
Including a session with acupuncturist on Friday to (hopefully) spur things into action over the weekend if not before
Also eyelash tint and haircut tomorrow, coffees with 2 mums, dinner with DD's best friend and his mum and DD's last swimming lesson for the year.
School finishes midday Thur here and they don't go back til early Feb (our summer hols). Have no formal childcare booked in so will be relying on mum and friends to take DD out from time to time. Should be OK I hope

Sorry to hear about the nightmare CS Cazzy something I'd definitely like to avoid...

SAmbiClaus · 18/12/2007 08:35

It?s a Girl!!

Baby Louise was born yesterday morning at 6.53am. She weighed just 6lbs 4ozs. I?ll post some pics later today.

You guys were right, induction is unbelievably painful (though I can?t compare to normal labour as first timer!) the pain got progressively worse, at about 5pm, they couldn?t give me anything too strong because I wasn?t in established labour, so I had 2 co-codamol, didn?t even touch the sides! by 10.30pm I was begging for more pain relief. They checked and I was 2-3 cms so they took me up to delivery, where the gas and air helped loads. Hubby was called out and I had the pethadine shortly after he arrived as I was exhausted, which was a little better until I overdid the gas and air too and was very sick. At about 4am, I was 5cms so I could have an epidural ? wow after that I could do anything. FAB. My mum was called out and we chatted for a couple of hours, at 6.45am, DH & Mum were just on their way out to update the car park tickets when the midwife said ?You should stay for a bit, the heads here!? 8 mins later she was born. Small tear and a couple of stitches, but at the moment very sore and bruised, understandably, but apart from that ok. Left the hospital at 5pm last night, they wanted to keep me in but I couldn?t stand it a moment longer.

Mellymooks ? congratulations and really happy you didn?t have to have the induction you were scared of. Kaesha is a gorgeous name.

Skid ? of your speedy birth, lucky devil, can?t wait to see pics and name.

Insy ? Congrats, you got your home birth, Toby Simon is such a cute name.

See you girls over in Post Natal, and good luck for all you girls ready to pop, and thanks for all your help & support and basically listening to my whinging for the last 8 months, but it won?t be long until you are over in PN too?
