Amani - fab birth story

Am in a fair bit of pain here now. Trying hard to ignore as really not wanting to have him quite yet but getting tricky. Resting lots.

buzzybee · 24/12/2007 20:11

Well all quiet here after quite strong BHs for a couple of hours yesterday. Perhaps my MW is right - she recokons babies come very rarely on Xmas day.

Anyway Happy Christmas everyone!!! Raining here today in NZ - bit of a shame but was forecast. Had a lovely summery weekend so can't complain too much.

Huge congratulations Suey, sorry to hear about ecs though.

Great birth story Amani!

My DD is a bit sceptical about Santa this year (she's 6) but still lovely to be able to spend Xmas with her and not in Hospital as I was thinking might happen!!

buzzybee · 24/12/2007 20:14

Awen - crossed posts. Hope things work out for you OK. If you have a Xmas imagine how special that is! And hopefully you can still spend special time with DS1 Christmas Day evening? Anyway thinking of you

buzzybee · 24/12/2007 20:58

Me again! Have you seen this website which tracks Santa's progress? You can also download "videos" of places he's already visted (like NZ!). My DD thinks its quite cool.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 21:37

I think I've had a few contractions, painful tightenings across my bump, but very irregular. Hope this is the start of things!

Awenamanger · 24/12/2007 22:08

fingers crossed for you turtle. Try and get some sleep as when they get bad they will wake you up. x

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 22:12

Thanks Awen, any more progress at your end?

Awenamanger · 24/12/2007 22:15

pains are certainly stepped up. Trying to ignore them. Just read the other thread and pmsl at the milkshake!

Curlygirly · 25/12/2007 04:56

Yay. Labour has started here. Been having contractions since 2am and waters went at 3.40am. Contractions still 10 mins apart and only lasting 27 seconds.

Looks like I get out of peeling the potatoes later!!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 08:29

Contractions stopped overnight, probably a good thing as needed sleep due to stinky cold!
Curlygirl - fantastic you will have a Christmas baby!
Hope you are ok Awen!
Had another couple of contractions this morning, these were quite painful but nothing more since!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 08:29

Oh and Merry Christmas!

Amani · 25/12/2007 10:39

Merry Xmas everyone!

Good luck Curly and Awen.

Will post pictures shortly.

thingamajig · 25/12/2007 11:08

Merry Christmas everybody.
Looks like I might make it with a Christmas baby
Woke up 7ish this morning with sort of indegeston type pains that came and went. These have settled to every 5 mins, lasting 30seconds roughly. I have had a big clear out both ends (TMI) and a show so I think this might actually be it. Having said that I have never had a BH so this could be them, but they HURT. Aiming for a home birth with birth pool, but hanging on til they get a bit more painful before calling the midwife.
Sooo excited.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 25/12/2007 13:07

Woohoo! Sounds very promnising, Thingamajig! Best of luck and Merry Christmas.

Few more contractions, still not regular though, no show either!

Awenamanger · 25/12/2007 15:21

Managed to get through the night. Woke throughout night and ds came in with his santra pressies at 6am. Am getting strong pains every 4 minutes now. Managed to cook xmas dinner tho. They are really stopping me in my tracks now. Not sure am going to make it to tomorrow without going in. Glad made it till now tho.

IAmADaddy · 25/12/2007 19:13

This is Mr Bouncing Tirtle here. She's in hospital in Labour! Thread over on the childbirth forum

macdoodle · 25/12/2007 19:30

ooooh more than 1 xmas day babies - how very wonderful

FurryFox · 25/12/2007 21:35

Merry Christmas girls. Sorry not really had a chance to read all posts but can see congratulations are in order for Lizzer, Suey & Amani . Massive congratulations to anyone else I've missed off

I finally had a baby girl on Sunday morning. Went in Saturday night to be induced. Had first lot of gel at 7.30pm, contractions started around 2.30am but not too painful, MW examinded me at 7am and 3cm dialted so went down to labour ward and DH called in. 8am Doctor tried to break my waters but they had already gone, have no idea when this happened but may have started leaking around last Tuesday after my sweep so swabs from baby have been sent off to see if any infections. Anyway by 8.45am and only on gas and air was pleading for epidural but MW (same one as I had with DD) seemed to be making excuses why it was taking so long to have one. By 9am contractions were back to back with urge to push, at 9.10am MW said I could push if I wanted, thought she was being funny, after two big pushes baby Imogen was born at 9.17am weighing 7lb 14oz. Had to stay in Saturday night as Immy passed meconium but came home yesterday morning and all seems ok. Had a few stiches but not too bad either.

Good luck to all those waiting and those contracting now and thank you to everyone for all your support over this very exciting time

Poppy10 · 25/12/2007 22:43

Hi All,

V.excited for those of you who may be in labour . I got v.excited this morning when I thought my waters may have broke, but it happenned when I was still in bed and I think I may just have leaked quite a bit, after sneezing, with the pressure on my bladder and really don't want to believe it is my waters as I have group B strep infection so have been told they'll induce me within 4 hours of waters breaking if contractions haven't started in that time. I also thought there would be more water if it really was and that it would continue trickling so am sure it wasn't. But an hour later I had a show which has continued all day, so I know that can happen up to weeks beforehand, but at 40+5 I'm taking it as a good sign that things might happen without having to be induced. DH was really worried he wouldn't get to eat the Xmas dinner he'd spent hours preparing but now that thats out of the way we're ready for LO to arrive whenever he/she is ready.

Good luck to bouncingturtle & thingamajig for your labour

buzzybee · 25/12/2007 23:10

Back home, only 1cm dilated. Keep watching for updates on my labour thread!

chloemegjess · 26/12/2007 00:42

Well still here, aactually really enjoyed christmas day, even without baby. Found out my friend, who was due tomorrow, had her beby xmas eve by c-section. Thought I would be jealous if she had it before me, especially as she was due after me, but actually felt happy for her, but also, glad it was her not me as she had to spend all of xmas in hospital, and can't leave till at least thurs. Body seems to be having a clear out this evening! Had alot of pains in my pelvis and that area today and could really feel that baby was very low. This morning I could hardly walk out of uncomfortableness, and was sure I was going to end up wetting myself! (but didn't)!! Bit confused though, as been feeling different movements - similar to those I had when baby is breech. can feel a big lump, where her feet should be, which feels to me, more like a head or a bum. But there is definatly some part of her that is engaged! Only got 4 hours sleep last night, hoping to get a bit more tonight, but never seem to be able to lately! Had a few other signs that baby will arrive soon, but just going to let her do it in her own time. Feel alot less pressured now that christmas has been and gone!

Poppy10 · 26/12/2007 07:13

Hi All, think I may be having contractions , woke just after 6 to go to the loo and as soon as I got back into bed my tummy really hurt, lasted about a minute snd since then has continued like that about every 7 minutes. Now really wishing we'd gone to bed earlier than 2am! Have got up to eat some breakfast in case this is it and I don't feel like it later.

Poppy10 · 26/12/2007 09:09

False alarm I think, decided to go and have a shower and contractions have now completely stopped, yet 2 hours ago it was too painful to sleep.
