Wow! Congrats Lizzer!!

Lizzer · 23/12/2007 17:01

Hi Clairey, no he's not a Mike I'm afraid, scary but reassuring that someone else has been through the same

Just came to to say that pics are now on my profile if you fancy a nosey

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 23/12/2007 17:21

Well I have made some chicken chasseur (now cooling in fridge ready for freezer) which I did in oven, and I've got some Beef Bouginon in the slow cooker, I'll leave that another couple of hours, while I go and have a clary sage bath.
Been having a bath every day, felt a bit guilty using so much water, but figured once baby finally arrives, I'm not going to have the time for a bath for quite some time! Thank God for showers and bouncy chairs

dundeemarmalade · 23/12/2007 18:09

evening all.
just saying hello and stuff.
sweep booked in tomorrow, as the niblet still refusing to budge. got to have yet another scan too, to check volume of fluid.
am getting v. nervous re sweep - had a coil put in five years ago and still go all clammy remembering the pain and shock of it. keep telling myself this will be different but it's not working!
two people have now told me that in france and belgium they reckon a normal pregnancy lasts 41 weeks. makes me feel a bit better for being 'late'.
anyway. hope everybody is having a nice sunday evening, with or without babies.

buzzybee · 23/12/2007 18:39

Congratulations Lizzer - huge effort!! So your DS is 22nd and DD 23rd Dec?!

New Zealand sits on the "Pacific Rim" so does have a tendency for earthquakes similar to California and Japan. However this was quite a big one even by our standards - earthquakes around 4-5 are fairly common. There were a few people hurt (worst = broken leg) - plus loads of disgruntled shop owners with damaged stock just before Xmas. Luckily it didn't bring down any bridges or major structures.

Didn't sleep very well last night. Kept tossing and turning thinking that if she didn't come last night then she's bound to come tonight!! Getting quite a lot of period type pain but wouldn't call it anything regular like contractions...

PeckaRolloverAgain · 23/12/2007 18:45

Lizzer he is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

buzzybee · 23/12/2007 18:51

Just added Dexter's arrival date - he looks like he's about 1 month old Lizzer, beautiful! Wonder how Bunny's doing? Must be being monitored pretty intensively by now if she hasn't already popped!

Well, due today and no baby!

Guess I will be joining all those who are "ovedue".

I want my baby! Bring on the pain!

Poppy10 · 23/12/2007 22:26

Congrats Amani, Lizzer & Mellymooks, photos of Dexter & Kaesha are gorgeous. I stil can't believe I'm going to have one of those in a few days too!

Thanks for all the info on positions and clary sage. Am now using the clary sage oil, down on my hands and knees lots and had my acupuncture treatment yesterday, so heres hoping, though the fact that I don't have even the slightest twinge makes me think I may be waiting a while yet!

Macdoodle, have you tried a moxibustion treatment. I believe it has an 80% success rate for turning breech babies, though really don't know how it works.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 10:02

Bloody hell... I now have a cold. Not a bad one, just a bit congested and a bit of a headache!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 10:05

Oh and have a weird rash on the inside of my calves! When I was in the bath last night, the skin on my calves felt sore and irritated. I thought maybe a reaction to the clary sage and other essential oils in the bath, but nothing I'd not used before. Besides it was only my legs!

HoHoHousemum · 24/12/2007 10:51

Morning - Congratulations Suey - hope you recover well, v jealous of you having Christmas cuddles!

Bouncing - hope the rash disappears - I just have weird itchy palms and feet every now and again (not all over, so not a scary sign, my What To Expect book says it is quite common) - it's flippin' annoying!

I want this baby to give me a guarantee that it will either come pre-midnight tonight, or after lunchtime tomorrow, so I don't miss DD2 finding her stocking and opening her presents. My mum is on standby, but even if I left her with the old camcorder (treated ourselves to a new one for Xmas/new baby) she would be useless with it....

Have just put ham on to boil for 2 hours so perhaps Sod's Law says things will happen soon... (fat chance, still a week to go, just frustrating as the other 2 were early)

Oh, and after all that whinging from me, a Very Merry Christmas to all of you!

Awenamanger · 24/12/2007 11:17

gorgeaus baby pictures

Still going here. Trying to rest LOADS as really dont want baby to come now till after ds1 has had his santastocking (with you there housemum)

Lost rest of plug yesterday so cervix def seems to be doing more. Taking the painkillers, keeping fluids up, feet up (all swollen) and trying to ignore the pains. Ex-p is on standby for ds1 as if end up in hosp he will see his dad. Really think baby now on left. Sods law says that he will arrive in middle of night

Oh and tmi - had a huge clearout this morning.

Feel like a lazy cow as lying on sofa watching crap tv and not amusing ds1 enough. MIght see if i concentrate on a game with him a bit a later. Would like to go out somewhere but dont want to bring on the contractions anymore.

becklesparkle · 24/12/2007 11:33

Congrats to Lizzer and Suey! Gorgeous (not so) little man Lizzer!

Am with Housemum and Awen on baby staying in a little longer - don't want to miss the stockings and presents in the morning! Missing cooking the dinner (or even just clearing up afterwards) is fine though!

Sounds like things are getting closer for you Awen, really hope he holds on a little longer for you.

Bouncing, I have been congested and a little headachey for a few days too, also been extra tired and keep dozing off everytime I sit down! Rash could be from oils, I often only react to things on my legs!

Hi everyone else! Hope scan and sweep goes well today for you Dundee!

chloemegjess · 24/12/2007 12:02

Well, now officially overdue

No more signs really that baby will arrive soon, other than lots of discharge, pelivis pain and shooting pains from my cervix.

Not too bothered now if baby comes on christmas day, was really worried about it before, now I just want my baby. I don't have other children to think about though. It woul dbe nice to do presents and lunch first though, mainly for the rest of my family as my mum is coming to the birth, and wouldn't want everybody to miss out seeing her (my sisters, dad etc)on christmas day.

I don't really have much else to say, other than that I want my baby!

macdoodle · 24/12/2007 13:12

Well done all with babes for xmas
Suey never mind at least you are both safe and well
Planned section for Fri - all ready for tomorrow but terrified will go into labour before Fri as will be panic and emergency section TBH am terrfied for the ECV (trying to turn babe) and even more so for section ..
Tears from DD last night as she feels new LO has better room than her as is all new and ready for babe now and hers really does need doing Think she is just overwhelmed with xmas and baby and mummy going into hospital - felt awful especially as I told her not to be stupid about the room which triggered off the tears - usually she is very grown up stoical little girl very rarely cries...sometimes I think I expect too much from her she is only 6 after all !

HoHoHousemum · 24/12/2007 14:18

Am feeling v large, tired and fed up - but great 'cos DH has taken pity on me and at this moment has a pinny on and is hoovering the stairs - he's doing my nesting for me!!

Amani · 24/12/2007 14:26

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT

Baby girl born on 22nd Dec (just as I had always wanted - what were the chances?!) at 0058am at 38+6 weeks.

Weight: 7 pounds and 3 ounces.

Baby is ok, just slight janudice and I'm ok too, so bloody tired though and this BF business is soooo bloody hard, but giving it a good go. DD decided being on my breast from 9pm to 3am on/off would be great fun last night...taking it day by day and hopefully it will become easier onces the milk comes through...

Just quickly, started getting pains above my pubic bone at around 3pm on Friday (around the time I posted), no real patter to when the pain came and went only the intesitiy getting stronger. At this point thought it was B-H contractions. Was umming and ahhing at 9pm whether I should call hospital, but decided to have a wait and have a bath to see if it would ease the pain. At this point still thought it was B-H-C as there was no pattern to the duration and timing of pain and pain was still just above my pubic bone and I thought if it was the real thing I would be getting the pain all across my stomach (in my case never did pain across the stomach at all). Anyhow at around 10:30pm, heard a POP and waters went and that's when I thought, this MIGHT JUST BE THE REAL THING!!! Went into hospital at 11pm and MW confirmed I was 8 cm dialated! With a bit of gas and air (fantastic stuff - DH told me later I was on such a high I asked the MW to give him the snip and myself liposuction - just to make our journey into hospital even more the worthwhile!) and with a shot of pethadine (which did not make a jot of difference to the pain) DD2 was born 2 hours later.

No name for her as yet, got a couple in mind, will post once we've decided (and I'm more rested!)

Thank you to everyone who wished me well, good luck to you ladies in waiting, and congrats to the ladies who have also had babies (sorry not read any other postings) and hugs to anyone who is not feeling good.
xx

chloemegjess · 24/12/2007 14:31

macdoodle - what about painting your DD's room when baby is settled? If she knows she has that to look forward to, she might feel better about it. She could also help choose paint/paper etc. Could even look at magazines now with her so she knows whats coming?

Was meant to be going shopping today with my husband, but he changed his mind which was really annoying as I had looked forward to that! Going out for a walk in a bit though, which may help.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 15:05

Wow what a story Amani! Glad you and DD are well, hope the jaundice clears up soon.

Chloe - vaguely thought about going for walk, was feeling energetic first thing this morning, but now feeling tired. Have had a few contractions, but nothing particularly regular or close together. Had a bit of a clear out earlier as well! Actually hoping baby will hang in there now until Thursday!

Lizzer · 24/12/2007 16:57

Congratulations Amani (lovely story) and Suey2 (sorry you didn't have a great time)

Amani, your dd sounds like my ds - I forgotten how hard it is to start with the bfeeding constantly and at such unreasonable times! But keep going, it gets easier (I keep telling myself) i think the one day at a time thing is really good approach..

And yes, buzzy i have got the most expensive xmas time next yr with ds bday on 22nd and dd on 23rd. Argh!!

Just came on to wish all you girls a fabulous xmas, hope the babies don't put in an appearance til after you've eaten xmas dinner at least!! Awen, you sound sooo close!! Good luck to you all

PeckaRolloverAgain · 24/12/2007 18:15

Amani, Im very of you!!! congratulations on your gorgeous girl xxx 7lb 3 is only 3oz off what my DD was at 41+5 so she was obviously nice adn ready to come and didnt want to miss christmas!!

Curlygirly · 24/12/2007 18:46

Congratulation to all new mummies. Feeling very !
It's my due date today. Saw the doctor as for some reason the midwives weren't at the surgery today. Told head engaged and have sweep booked for Saturday at home. Their idea, not mine.
