hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 22/12/2007 19:54

Buzzy - yep I've had those bowel cramps too.. fun aren't they

loucee · 22/12/2007 19:55

Congratulations Amani, hope everything went well.

I'm not sure if I'm in labour. Having irregular pains every 20 mins then some are 15 mins and some are 10 mins but not lasting very long. I've got a continuous stitch in my bump that could just be like intense growing pain.

Hmmm wish we had a wee sign that popped up "in labour" so we knew!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 22/12/2007 20:38

I'm sending Dh to pharmacy - I have 2 hemarroids .

Awenamanger · 22/12/2007 20:54

Copied this from Jan thread as too knackered to re-type.

Hi all. Spent last night in hospital. Am in early labour as starting to dilate - 2cm so not much. Getting 4 in 10 nice strong ones. They insited on me and dp staying in as worried about cs scar as contracting so strongly. Reason for back pain appears to be because baby is a almost back to back. Managed 3 hours sleep after pethidine.

Very emotional as MW's etc were certain given contractions - length, frequency and intesity that i would be alot further on feels like history repeating itself again.

Was agreed that i could come home, still contracting. Been given some dihydracodiene (sp) for home. Am to go back if i cant sleep at all, or feel things are moving on again although difficult to tell as so reg and painful.

The way things are going they think he is on the way but having a 'prolonged latent stage'. MW touched babies head which was sweet.

Am having to rationalise that he will come when he comes, even if it is xmas day (which I really hoped it wouldnt be).

Fab news Amani xxx Have posted on your birth annoucement

TMS - hope things are progressed well for you

HAvent managed to read up - concentration a bit shit due to pain and lack of sleep.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 22/12/2007 21:30

Poor you Awen, that you're knackered, but hope lo joins us soon! Somewhere on another thread someone said that a prelonged pre labour leads to a shorter and less painful labour - hope this is true for you!

loucee · 22/12/2007 21:49

Bouncing - me too suffering from the dreaded H's, what did DH get for you? I haven't looked into what we can/cant use for them during pregnancy.

Well looks like I'm not in labour, pains have totally gone .

Ahh well, hopefully the pains earlier were moving little one lower.

Inlaws are here and I feel guilty for calling them round but they live 1 hour away and it's -5 here tonight with very icy roads (our estate doesn't get gritted) so better they got here and are not needed than getting a call at 2am and them not being able to get here.

mellymooks · 22/12/2007 22:00

If anyone interested!! Lots of festive hugs to you all, I really must get on the post-natal thread but i seem to spend too many hours just staring at Kaesha instaed!!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 22/12/2007 22:12

DH got some anusol cream, I think it is working as it is less sore now.

Melly - aww don't blame you, can't wait to join you on the PN thread!

mellymooks · 22/12/2007 22:37

Have finally added some pics of Kaesha if you fancy a peek

chloemegjess · 22/12/2007 22:55

To those of you who said you have "the runs" this could be the start of labour. You can often get D+V as a sign of early labour and its a great sign that something is happening!

Spend most of today walking around, so hoping that will help get things going again. My midwife said today that I can expect things to stop and start again as its already happened a few times and usually continues like this till you go into full labour! Walked into town twice! First time was to go xmas shopping, but had to leave as the central heating and crowds, really didnt agree with me, ended up eating mcdonalds and going for a walk! Second time, I was just really restless and we went out for a walk and ended up back in town. Everything was shut except debenhams, which we looked round, even though it was about 8.30pm! Then walked back (about a 20min walk each way).

Can't believe it's my due date tomorrow and all signs have gone! Would be great to give birth on my due date, but don't think I will. Also thinking that if I give birth before/on christmas, then christmas will actually be quite tiring and stressfull as we are meant to be going to see everybody (my parents, Hubbys mum and then his sister, then various others if we get a chance). His family are all split up and dont get along so it means lots of visits.

The pains in my pelvis and top inner thighs are getting so painfull now, really hard to get up/down and is agony when I sneeze or cough, which I seem to be doing constantly!

Just wondering, is anybody else on here planning a home birth?

Sorry if I have repeated myself at all, I have sucha bad memory at the moment and have been having similar conversations on various threads and another forum, so keep getting confused!

becklesparkle · 22/12/2007 23:36

Congrats Amani! Very as you were due after me! Glad it all went well!

Melly, Glad things are going well with Kaesha, she's gorgeous!

Awen, hope things get moving for you soon and you get the vbac you want, hope you get a decent sleep tonght (if you are not having your LO). My LO is preferring back-to-back at the moment too and it gives me really awful back ache when it is turned that way.

Chloe, am impressed with how active you have been today! That walking may have done some good, with DS2 I went for a long walk one day and labour started the next morning so fingers crossed! From the pain it sounds like your baby is well wedged in your pelvis which is good too.

I am exhausted this evening, went for a drive this morning to see if it would start any regular BHs like it did the other night but no such luck, had barely any today! On the plus side, the ones I am having are getting really uncomfy! Cleaned out all the kitchen cupboards today, DH told me off for climbing on a chair to get to the top ones.

Baby been mostly back-to-back today so my back is aching like anything. Does anyone else's baby still change postition so much?

buzzybee · 23/12/2007 09:02

Another quiet day here on the baby front - starting to look forward to a relatively "normal" Christmas Day!! Took another long-ish walk but no luck again.
Bowels do seem to be playing a up a bit tho so maybe something is slowly starting to happen...
My cat has been behaving very strangely too if you believe in omens (or could that be the full moon)

Did you hear we had a big-ish earthquake on Thur night? About 300km from where I live so no damage here although I definitely felt it. 6.8 on richter scale - few smaller buildings collapsed but no-one killed. Est GBP15 million damage so not trivial but could have been much worse.

SAmbiClaus · 23/12/2007 09:07

Congrats Amani, hope it all went well for you. Aww Awen, you've really had it tough with all these contractions for weeks, i hope it's not too long for you to go now and that it's a short one like BT said.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 23/12/2007 09:34

Morning!
Chlor - I could have written that post! Insread, here is a little song.

Happy Due Date to Me
Still not got a baby
In the tummy
Of its mummy
It's far too comfy!

Woke up at 3am crying in pain from piles, ended up putting more cream on and taking some paracetamol. I've never had piles before in my life and I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy (well with the exception of paedophiles!).
Then I felt crap because I thought I'm not going to be able to cope with labour pains and end up having an epidural, when I really want a water birth! Then I thought well, it's not an endurance test, if I have an epi, I have one, the main thing is to have a healthy happy baby at the end of it, and there isn't a guarantee I can have a water birth anyway - there's lots of things which could mean it isn't advisable (as some of our graduates have discovered) or it simply isn't available!
Buzzy at earthquake! Pity you couldn'thave been nearby, might have shaken baby loose! Just kidding, really glad no-one was hurt, are Earthquakes of that intensity common in New Zealand?
Awen - hope you are ok!
Beckle - have you had any definite signs as yet?

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 23/12/2007 09:37

My cat has been acting skittish - but to be honest he acts strangely anyway. He is very close to me, but always has been.

OK got a question about Membrane Sweep - does the MW just put a finger up your fanjo, or does she use a speculum? DH tried it and said he couldn't reach!

I also confess to having a chocolate prostaglandin milkshake last night . Didn't bloody work though

becklesparkle · 23/12/2007 11:16

Morning all! Very quiet on here, is it Christmas or is everyone having their babies?!

at earthquake Buzzy! Glad nobody was hurt but must be awful for those with lots of damage to their stuff just before Christmas.

Hi Bouncing, Happy Due Date!!! No definite signs for me... Bowels are behaving again and the cat has stopped acting strangely. I would quite like LO to stay in until at least Boxing Day now though! Baby seems to have turned (again) in the night and I think it is more to the front, also the flat spot I have at the bottom of the bump is slightly sloped today so hoping that is a good sign! Boobs even bigger so under a t-shirt I get that Picasso-boob effect! No idea about the Membrane sweep, can't seem to find my cervix! I reckon they just use a finger though, never had a speculum used with any of the examinations I had in labour with the DSs. I guess it helps they know what they are looking for more than we do!

Right, must get on with my ironing and then it is just the living room to do and all the pre-Christmas/baby spring cleaning is done! Got some friends round for dinner tonight too, thankfully they are bringing dessert so I only have to cook the roast, couldn't face another takeaway!

HoHoHousemum · 23/12/2007 11:17

10/10 for effort though, Bouncing! (Haven't let DH in on that little secret...)

It's just a finger (or 2? Can't remember!) for the sweep - I don't know how she knows which bit's which - it all feels the same to me... (OK, so I tried to reach it myself this morning...)

Don't think that the piles pain means you won't cope with labour pains - sometimes, "real" pain is easier to cope with - you know, like you cut your finger on a knife and it hurts for a bit, but a paper cut irritates you all day, IYSWIM?

Congrats to Awen and Amani - I'm not really... (Feel like Rachel in Friends - hey, it's my turn first, 'snot fair...!)

HoHoHousemum · 23/12/2007 11:17

That is, obviously, congrats a bit soon for Awen - hope all is going well and you get the birth you want.

becklesparkle · 23/12/2007 11:31

Agree with you on the pain thing Housemum, labour pain is completely different to any other pain. For starters there is a point to it IYKWIM?! Secondly, you know it will be over at some point and although you don't forget about it, the memory of it fades as soon as you hold your LO.

I decided to do it with very little pain relief last time as the first time wasn't too bad. I realise now that the first time wasn't too bad because of the pain relief so I won't be trying to do it without this time! As long as LO arrives safely that's all that matters.

Lizzer · 23/12/2007 12:04

Hi there! Dexter Robin arrived in a bit of a hurry (after hanging on for 12 days!) at 7.16am yeasterday morning. Had one lot of prostgladin at 7pm at the hospital. Sent dp home at 11pm with no signs (telling him it would be ages and I'd prob need another pessary in the morning) Had a few strong pains from 2am getting worse until 5.30am when the midwife gave me a sweep and i was 3cms. Phoned dp at 6.10 to say I was walking over to labour ward but not to rush. HAd Dexter while trying to get into the birthing pool..got back on the bed in time to push (on hands and knees) and he was here at 7.16!!!! Nothing but gas and air and....wait for it......weighing 10lbs4oz

Few stiches but nothing too bad..Feeding well, didn't stop most of the night (my poor nips!) Its soooo much easier the 2nd time round though

He's gorgeous with the biggest chubbiest cheeks in the world, I just want to eat them!! I promise to work out how to do pics on profile but super busy atm, its dd's b'day today so trying to organise that but promise to stop by and chat in a bit...Sorry I haven't read msgs, saw amani had baby and posted on her thread.. I'll do a birth annoucement one too in a bit. Lots and lots of good xmas wishes to everyone....

ozzymoomoo · 23/12/2007 13:01

Congratulations Lizzer am in awe of your bravery!!!!
Also to Amani although very as we share a due date and i'm still waiting!!!

Bouncing I really feel for you as I had my first experience of piles a couple of weeks ago and I've not felt pain like it!!! Anasol cream really is fantastic though so keep using it. I also cried at the thought of giving birth on top of all that pain!!

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 23/12/2007 13:38

Thanks - feeling better, went to Asda busy, but not too stresful! Planning on doing some cooking for the freezer!
Bottom feeling better - so the anusol cream worked!
