hello!

Don't fancy vaginal delivery for a breech - they usually try to get you in a week before due date as risks of labour if is a footling are higher...oh buggeration

BunnyBaby · 19/12/2007 21:03

Latest update...

well I went in for monitoring again, and the consultant popped into give me a scan. It would seem that baby is posterior, which explains full on contractions stopping for no real reason. Apparently there isn't enough pressure on the cervix to tip me into full labour.

They confirmed the show and my cervix and body are completely ready, just need little one to turn through 90 degrees.

It's amazing to think if baby hadn't turned on Friday, I would have probably tipped into labour Saturday, and be over on the post-natal thread, as I've been contracting since Friday, but no pressure from baby to get things established.

So unless baby moves tonight - we'll be in the hospital in the morning.

Good luck everyone else!

macdoodle · 19/12/2007 21:12

Good luck bunny you must be sooooo ready now

Awenamanger · 19/12/2007 21:36

fingers x-d for you bunny - hope LO gets into postion for you

Macdoodle - hoping baby isnt breech. When i was in 3 weeks ago one MW thought i was breech but it was his bottom.

Beckle - you are sooo right about the labour spotting being worse than th e2ww sympton spotting

Still getting fairly regular pains here... trying very hard not to get hopes up. Baby was 3/5th now 2/5th so he is clearly heading the right way. All my checks were fine but the MW feels i need to make sure i get more sleep (not much for last 3 weeks as every night is disturbed). She seems to think come boxing day when she is in the community she will be doing a postnatal check on us here.

Lizzer · 19/12/2007 22:15

Macdoodle, really hoping your baby isn't breech-they do get it wrong sometimes - mine was till 37w and the thing that turned him was a combination of homeopathy and accupuncture (actually it could be one or the other but worth trying if your local natural health centre is any good and can hook you up with a therapist, or if you have one anyway)

Good luck Bunny and Awen

Right girls I have to ask this, do any of you using clary sage oil have really erm, stimulated bowels??!! I'm wondering if this is the cause of mine today and y'day...

becklesparkle · 19/12/2007 23:58

I don't blame you MacDoodle, I wouldn't fancy delivering a breech baby vaginally either! Just thought that might take some of the urgency to get you in away. Hopefully the scan will show that baby is not footling breech and perhaps they will agree to leaving you an extra couple of days.

Bunny, hope that baby turns! (but if not, good luck for tomorrow). Didn't realise baby being posterior could stop labour - MW just told me it meant a longer labour (posterior is currently my LO's favoured position...)

suey2 · 20/12/2007 00:30

hello all,
awesome play. started having contractions initially one minute duration, 20 minutes apart from 8pm tonight. Have now changed to one minute/ 10 minutes apart. Have got up out of bed as too painful to sleep through.

I really hope this is it! Feels like period pain, but this time is getting more painful and kind of peaks in the middle.

wish me luck!

buzzybee · 20/12/2007 03:55

Good luck Suey, Awen and Bunnybaby!!

Interested about the posterior pressure (or lack of) problem too. My MW doesn't seem to pay much attention to these things which I find a bit frustrating. Came today and didn't even check whether she's engaged!

DD has come down with brochitis which is a real pain, really really hoping I don't get it too - just in time for the birth . Poor thing woke last night quite distressed. Took her to doc today and got some A/Bs so hope that clears it quickly. She's finished school now anyway.

suey2 · 20/12/2007 08:01

oo oo oo. waters broke at 2am. contractions stopped at 4.30. went into hospital and they confirmed that my waters have broken. Now they will not let me go more than 48 hours- but at least I jump a few steps.
I am off to bed having not slept all night. MW said contractions will in all likelihood start again of their own accord.

loucee · 20/12/2007 08:42

Fantastic news Suey, you're on your way!
Hope the contractions start up soon, in the meantime get as much rest as possible.

Joining the "switched mobile phone off" club, I am actually ok in myself that I'm 3 days overdue and know it could be a few days yet but people checking and asking is really getting on my nerves so I'm ignoring them now!

Beckle - DD was posterior pretty much throughout later pregnancy and labour, MW told me longer and more painful labour but of course it is different for everyone and this is your 3rd child so that should bode well for you. LO can spin round to right position in early labour too so try not to worry.

Lizzer · 20/12/2007 09:53

Ooo exciting stuff Suey2! Good luck... I actually feel, for the first time ever, almost ready to have this baby, constant period pain this morning, maybe that long walk did help and needing the toilet a lot. Am off for accupuncture this morning which will relax me if nothing else and about to hop into a clary sage hot bath.

Sorry to be morbib for a minute but today would've been dp's dad's 61st birthday but sadly he passed away in Jan...I do think its strange that I'm having a boy (his first grandson) round about now..it would be lovely if it were today but I'm not counting my chickens..Its hard not to believe in something other than co-incidence when things like this happen

good luck today everybody

ozzymoomoo · 20/12/2007 10:56

Good luck to you Suey! I am so damn jealous.
Have MW app later but just a regular check up I spose. Next app not till I'm 40+4, So may book sweep for next Thurs.
Dh says he'll do the hubby sweep tonight so here's hoping I don't get pummeled too much by MW. I was in agony after last app!!!

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 20/12/2007 12:01

Hi everyone.

Just thought I'd come on and see how your all doing.
Not sure if anyone saw my BA but Ethan was born on the 6th, 8 days late, weighing 8lb 1oz after a 2 hour labour.
Everything went perfectly and I got the HB I wanted.

Hugs to all of you overdue.
You have all my sympathy. It really is so frustrating.
I ended up sending out a text message to all my contacts in my mobile saying please dont contact me until I had the baby I was getting so pissed off with all the texts and calls asking if there were any signs or if I'd had the baby.

Anyway must go, have a great xmas everyone and hope all births go well.
xxx

mixedmama · 20/12/2007 12:10

That sounds very promising Suey. Thinking of all you ladies who getting twinges, talking inductions etc.

I think every day is THE day but alas nothing just yet.

Am at my mum and dads today so hopefully will be able to kep up, might pop over to the postnatal thread and see how the ladies are doing as well. I am only 38 +2 so altho seem to be always getting some sort of pain never amounts to anything, had a hot bath, some sex and a masive long walk today but still a way to go so prob just stresing myself for no reason.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 20/12/2007 12:21

Hello!

Suey2 - hoorah things are happening for you yey!

Lizzer - you are not at all morbid. Only natural to think of lost loved ones. Been thinking of my Nanny (my mum's mum) a lot and she's be gone 10 years , as I was very very close to her. Hadn't heard of the bowel thing with the clary sage - it is a uterine stimulant so it could well do the same to your bowels. Been having soft motions (sorry) last few days, but using a small amount of clary sage mixed in some massage oil with other stuff. Have bought some pure essential oil, and had a sniff, read on the internet someone suggesting putting it on wrists and ankles, and that it helped bring on labour for her. It is also supposed to have a euphoric effect like entonox!

Well I had an AN appointment, it was written in my book by my MW, but apparently that was a mistake - no clinic today! One of the other MW saw me briefly - checked wee - no protein! She has also booked me in for a sweep on 30th. Hopefully lo will be here well before then. Induction is at +12 days.
Off down the pub now for some lunch!

Awenamanger · 20/12/2007 14:05

@ suey - fab news. Hope everything goes well and you are getting some sleep in before all the hard work.

For risk of jinxing self.. pains havent stopped.. they are actually getting more painful and regular. No waters break or show (that i have noticed either). Pains are about 5-8 mins apart although some are 10-12 mins. Last about 30 secs - 60 secs. So trying not to be too hopeful as cuold be like this for ages and then it all stop.

Re the posterior position. With ds1 he turned back to back in hospital amd I then stopped dilating (was 5 cm) although in lots of pain. I had emerg section as stopped progressed and had been in labour for 48 hours. Because of this i dont want to go to hospital as I will wend up being put on a bed with monitor for ages - which is why ds1 turned i believe.

Amani · 20/12/2007 14:42

Just popping into say hello.

Suey and Awen - how exciting. Hope everythng goes well for you both.

Loucee - had a wierd dream about you last night! Dreamt you baked lots of pink caks for the girls and blue cakes the boys once they were born. All very mysterious as you were sheilded behind a curtain in the kicthen and all the cakes had an accompanying card with 'Love Loucee' on it. LOL

Hope everyone else is ok.

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 20/12/2007 16:01

Oh, I have now method for dealing with people who ring up about the baby.

"Yes, the baby came this morning. It's a gremlin called Roger, and it has eaten the cat."
Then I tell them not to ask such stupid questions

HoHoHousemum · 20/12/2007 17:22

Fingers crossed Suey and Awen - Awen, couldn't find you on the last list but think you're end of the month like me?

Re monitoring - I was told last time that I couln't sit on the ball as the belt monitor kept slipping - obviously brain is not in gear when in labour, but thought crossed my mind this time to ask if they can tape the belt to me so it doesn't slip and I can move more? They're a hospital so they must have some micropore tape, the stuff you hold bandages/dressings on with.

Had MW app't today and asked her to do a stretch & sweep which she did (she's v nice, if I was able to have a home birth I'd b v happy with her - she does a lot of them) - baby is 4/5 engaged, cervix v soft which she says is a good sign. I'm walking around a lot - anything to get gravity on my side! She said that if the sweep works, things will start moving in the next 12 - 24 hours, if not she'll do another next Thurs if baby hasn't arrived by then.

Tip: She did say, if contractions start, don't lay down or get in the bath as that might stop them again in the early stages - best thing to do is walk around, particularly up and down stairs, as the action of the head against the cervix triggers more contractions.

loucee · 20/12/2007 18:59

Amani - that's a wee bit creepy because yesterday I bought pink fairy cakes for the girls and blue fairy cakes for the boys (and mince pies for the mums) for our secret santa get together at a friend's house tomorrow!! Wish I had baked them myself but didn't want to leave it to late. How weird!

Awen, sounds really positive that you're on your way, hope things progress quickly for you.

Thanks for the tips Housemum, I'd forgotten about not having a bath too early as can stop it all can't it.

Sorry if TMI but had a bit of discharge earlier that was tinged with a brown colour, not sure if "hubby sweep" caused it or if it might be my cervix moving a bit? Not a show that's for sure but I've got a sweep tomorrow morning so hoping the MW will say I'm moving in the right direction!

Also mustn't forget our pelvic floors, we'll be glad of them afterwards!

ozzymoomoo · 20/12/2007 19:05

Had my MW appointment today too. Am very dissapointed to find out after being engaged a fortnight ago, baby is now only 3/5. Feels like things are going backwards. Booked in for sweep next Thurs. MW did say it's not likely I'll go overdue as I was a day early with DS1 so maybe only just over a week to go. I'm just starting to feel so bloody impatient!!!!

buzzybee · 20/12/2007 20:21

Nbg, good tip about the texts! My mum is the worst, really have to restrain myself when she calls for "news". Especially when she goes on to say the most obvious platitudes like "I guess she's come when she's ready" and "Just take it one day at a time then". Mum's not the most imaginative person at the best of time but she's excelling herself at the moment!!

The worst of it is that's she's being lovely and helpful and I know will be a rock for me in the enxt few weeks - but at the same time will continue to drive my up the wall with inane chatter

Am looking forward to acupuncture this afternoon - hoping if nothing else they can help get LO into an optimal position - I suspect she's a bit posterior at the moment.

Loads of positive vibes to you both Suey and Awen

Amani · 20/12/2007 20:23

Just a quick question, do you have to be 40 week + to have a sweep? Seeing mw on Monday and was thinking of asking about one, but I will be 39+1 weeks then. Impatient to kick things off, especially since a friend who was due mid-Jan had her baby this morning. at the queue jumping.

Amani · 20/12/2007 20:25

Loucee - how strange! Maybe it's a show

Awenamanger · 20/12/2007 21:02

Due 31st Dec Housemum. Pains still continuing. some quite painful but then some not so bad. Just want them to either get more intense etc or go away as so fed up with not knowing wether am coming or going.

Also does the baby move when things are happening?
