Sweetheart - i can totally relate to that feeling. For me it was a tuna and sweetcorn roll, 2 packets of salty crips and half an iced bun this lunchtime - it was my only high point in a day filled with sickness!!!

MrsWednesday · 17/11/2004 15:03

I took a second mortgage out on my house and went to M&S for a sandwich at lunchtime - aromatic duck, sesame mayo, cucumber and spring onion. Bloody gorgeous.

Had a real pregnant-brain moment on the way there though. I was driving down the road, decided to turn right, and proceeded to do so, only checking the side-street I was turning into, not the road I was crossing. I just missed being hit by another car, by millimetres. I was so angry with myself for being so stupid I cried all the rest of the way to M&S. So be warned...the streets of Leeds are not a safe place to be at the moment.

Lua · 17/11/2004 15:05

Talking about food, I finally had the courage to step in the scale today to see how I am doing.... gained 4lbs already . I thought I was doing so well, and was going to manage to gain very little in the first trimester !
I guess is the revenge of the crisps.... for eating all their siblings and cousins!!

teabelly · 17/11/2004 15:27

Lua and Mrs W ! I remember having loads of preggie moments during my last pg - sure I'm gonna have loads this time too, he he he!

katzguk · 17/11/2004 15:51

its salt and vinegar kettle chips for me but i've corrupted my office they all love them too. Also egg mayo sandwiches!!! yummy

sweetheart · 17/11/2004 16:19

Can I just make you really sick Lua!!!!

When the midwife weighed me yesterday I had lost 1Ib!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been totally pigging out aswell!!!!

MrsW - I sympathise with you 100% - I've done so many preg brain things recently which include:-

  1. sending out all the end of month chq's at work without signing them
  2. Leaving my handbag in the supermarket trolly
  3. Falling down the stairs at home and then crying about it for about half an hour (not because I was hurt - just because I felt stupid)
  4. Took my dd to school the other day without giving her breakfast first!!!!!

Your not alone!!!!!

Lua · 17/11/2004 16:32

sweetheart! You did make me mad .....!
But you see, I went to check the statistics and you have 4 weeks to catch on with me... I am sure the crisps will get you by then!

MrsWednesday · 17/11/2004 16:36

Thanks Sweetheart. Sounds like we are a right load of woolly-headed dizzy ladies on here!

berolina · 17/11/2004 18:12

Hi everybody! Just wanted to drop in and see how everyone's doing.
I can empathise with the preggie brain... Have brain overload at the best of times with work - loads of students wanting things from me (I'm a lecturer) - but the last few days have been a nightmare coordinating everything and, yes, things have got forgotten... However I'm now 12+1 and still no sickness (bet a fair few of you really hate me) - I actually can't believe I'm getting off so lightly! Bet it hits me at 14 weeks or something...
Got to go to a meeting tomorrow for which I need to drive (or rather be driven, am going with a colleague) for 2 hours there and 2 hours back - not looking forward to it. I usually have a 10 minute walk to work (luxury I know) so it'll be quite a shock to the system. But it's def not too far to travel at 12 weeks is it?
Can any 2nd or more timers give me an estimate of when I'll stop fitting into things? Definitely have the beginnings of a bump this week (was hard to tell cos I've a, er, rather 'round' tummy in the non-preggie state), but clothes still basically fit. Am too scared of jinxing things to buy any maternity gear, so will need to do an emergency rush trip at some point down the line. Any experience as to about when that'll be?

Tessiebear · 17/11/2004 19:22

berolina - you do make me laugh (in the nicest possible way because you remind me sooo much of myself when i was expecting DS1 (now on no3) I just wish i had something like MN back then to ask all my questions on! With my 1st pg i did not really start showing until about 16 weeks and then only very slightly (my wedding dress had to be altered slightly ) I dont think i actually needed maternity clothes until about week 18. But with DS2 i was in my maternity jeans at 6 weeks!!! Some people just buy bigger sized clothes at first - but it will happen gradually you wont just pop over night (although it sometimes feels like that)
btw - you are fine to travel but if you are not used to long car journeys you may feel sick - take some sweets to suck. Hope you are noy worried about the cat poo thing anymore - i am sure that is absolutely fine! I had a panick last week when i got my hair bleached! Reassured by MN at the time.
My pregnancy brain has definately arrived!!! It is so scrambled at the moment that i cant think of anything stupid i have done so far - memory is the main loss!
Good Evening to all!

BUBBALOO · 17/11/2004 19:26

hi berolina,
glad to hear youre doing well.i was beginning to think i was the only one getting away without any sickness so at least i know im not alone.im nearly 11 weeks now and have only felt a bit "queasy" a couple of times BUT i am getting really tired which is awful especially as its mainly in the middle of the day and i seem to be forgetting everything which has been quite amusing at times.ive also recently found that i feel really bloated alot of the time and don't know if this is normal or not-it may just be because i've been eating things containing wheat and gluten(which im actually intollerant to).is anybody else feeling really bloated? sorry to waffle on but this is all new to me and i haven't got a clue

katzguk · 17/11/2004 19:26

my brain has gone to mush!! i've got a lecture to write for next week which should be a doddle but i just can't get my head round it!! plus its only the third lecture i've given and it going to be odd because everyone in the audience will be older than me!!

Tessiebear · 17/11/2004 19:30

Bubaloo - the bloated feeling is very common. I started feeling bloated from 5 weeks and it used to go by the morning - now i feel boated all the time (week 7). Probably due to the huge amounts of food i am eating to try and keep the sickness at bay. I feel sooo jeleous of you lot who have had no sickness. I have felt sick pretty much all the time (and at night) for the last 3 weeks

BUBBALOO · 17/11/2004 19:50

thanks tessiebear-at least i know its normal so i can stop worrying.
what a shame youre still feeling sick.i bought some preggie pops in readiness as i thought i might need them and on the rare occasion i've felt a bit off ive had one and they do seem to do the trick but then again it probably depends on how sick you actually feel.they actually taste quite nice too and you can get sugar free ones which aren't bad either!

Tessiebear · 17/11/2004 20:21

I have been sucking pear drops. Certain things seem to work for a while and then not. Have tried crackers, crisps, sweets, biscuits, rice cakes, different drinks..... they all give releif at the time but then i dont fancy them the next time round!

welshmum · 18/11/2004 09:15

Hello everyone. I'm really missing not being able to post on here regularly hopefully I'll get back to normal a bit next week or the week after.
Just wanted to say how sorry I was about Sophmum although she may not to be checking this thread out anymore.
Hugs to everyone - welcome to myermay.
I'm feeling ok, can't believe I've almost made it through to week 12. It's my birthday on Sunday so it'll feel like a big day for all sorts of reasons. I'll probably cry! alot! Then I've got my scan on Tuesday and hopefully seeing the little one will make it all feel a bit more 'real'. Have a good day y'all xxx

Lua · 18/11/2004 10:14

Morning all!
Teabelly, thanks for the tip. It worked pretty well and I finally have a night breathing normally! Unfortunately DD decided this was not a good night to sleep... so i am still so tired!!!

I sympathize with all the pg. heads out there! I am in the same boat as berolina and katz, since I am trying to say something intelligent while I lecture... it really feels like reality is all foggy.
ooh, and mrs.W I have been doing so many stupid thing behind the wheel, that I begged my husband to not let me drive!! Unfortunately, life is always hectic and I am still doing it.... The worst is that I have to actually get a british drivers license in the next few months. No way I am going to pass a driver test with this fuzzy head of mine!

Berolina, my experience with most preganacy clothes is that they are designed for people with a well defined bump. I didn't have one until 5 months or so.... What I have been doing is to use an elastic band to increase the waist on my pants.

Uwila · 18/11/2004 10:25

Oh Lua, I can sympathise on the driving test. I lost my American License (actually it was stolen in Dublin), then it expired. Meanwhile, stupid me hadn't arranged a British one yet. So I had to take the test when I was seven months pregnant (made twisting around a bit difficult!). But, I passed (on the second try).

GOOD LUCK!!

Scraggyaggy · 18/11/2004 13:36

Hello everyone!

I think I am now back in the land of the living, the vitamin tablets have definitely perked me up! Thanks for all your kind words.

Luckily I'm not having any sickness or nausea which is all good news.... see how long it lasts. 11 weeks and one day today so hopefully I'm on the cusp of a whole new phase!

I'm in desperate search of maternity wear, as I always wear trousers and my middle is being cut in half at the moment! I wouldn't say that I have a real bump (although I know it's there and dp says that I'm filling out), but I need something to feel comfortable in!

Lua · 18/11/2004 15:21

Hi scraggy, happy to hear that you found your energy back. What miracle vitamins are you taking, I could certainly use some energy myself!

katzguk · 18/11/2004 17:20

hello

well its snowing here!!

MissTuesday · 18/11/2004 17:27

Hi everyone
I've been off-line for a couple of weeks just feeling dreadful with a flu and horrible morning sickness then had a scare today with cramps and some bleedign but have just had a scan (am 12 weeks) and all is well.
Such a relief and so lovely to see our little person in their waving arms and legs furiously!
Hope everyone is well.
xxxx

sweetheart · 19/11/2004 08:30

Morning everyone!!

Had a terrible day yesterday. Blacked out whilst having a shower yesterday morning. I've been feeling very very dizzy but the midwife says my BP is fine and my urine test was OK. SIL is a nurse and she says she thinks I might have anemia as the midwife couldn't get blood out of me the other day as well (which is a sign apparently)
Also started throwing up yesterday which wasn't very nice.
Had to go to college and concentrate all day yesterday as I have an exam in 2 weeks which I'm really not prepared for.

I'm just hoping the dizzyness wears off soon - I can cope with the sickness - just.

I've decided to book an appt to get my hair cut and coloured when I get paid - sort of a pick me up type thing!!!

How is everyone else????? Glad to hear your scan was OK MissT

Scraggyaggy · 19/11/2004 10:29

Oh oh oh - I take it all back! I woke up this morning and retched like a cat with a furball!! Oh my God! Who out there has been lying to me?

sweetheart · 19/11/2004 12:58

where is everyone today - it's so quiet in here!!!!

Actually the whole site is pretty quiet.
