I think you would have to be hit pretty hard. There is alot between your skin and the baby. Its also floating in liquid which would soften any impact

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 09/12/2007 21:29

i hope so need to get monitor thing out but dc not asleep yet grrr!

pigleychez · 09/12/2007 22:03

I think it would be fine Paula Yates. Like PPP says its well cushioned in there. However if you experience any discomfort/ serious pain then id call for advice.

Talking of bumps- Ive been taking photos every week or two so far. Think it will be fun to look back to in years to come.
Heres my latest pics taken today at 10 weeks:

bump

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 09/12/2007 22:19

Evening all, hope everyone is OK on this wet and windy evening.
No more sickness thank god! Now just wondering if it was a figment of my imagination. However, since the episode on Friday, my (.)(.)s have become gigantic and I've gone from a C cup into a DD missing out D completely. Have also had to put on Mat Clothes and have quite a significant bump. Worrying about going to work tomorrow as they are still unaware (team that is, boss knows for H&S reasons) and I wasn't planning on breaking it to my colleagues until after I return from the Christmas break on 7th January, especially as I don't have my scan until next Wednesday.
Maybe I can blame it on too much festive eating this early on and blag it under some really baggy blouses.

sweetkitty · 09/12/2007 22:28

aww pigleychez - thats a cute little bump you have there, if anyone adds me to facebook I have 2 pregnant pictures of me on there one at 37 weeks with DD1 and 40 weeks with DD2, I look huge and I had another 2 weeks to go, I think I took pictures every 4 weeks or so also stick a tape measure around your belly or what we did in the Due in Jan 06 thread was measure it in toilet roll squares, I think I was up to 8 1/2 squares by the end, scary to think of it now.

PaulaYates - I am pretty sure I took some good whacks to the bump last time and I expect some more this time too, DD2 loves to sit on me and she is not a gentle child.

Santascrumpled/Mcchesers - I lived in Partick for 18 months whilst at uni, went to the Cathouse and the Garage a bit. I loved living in Glasgow was sad to move away.

isaidhohoho - we had to take DD1 to a few scans and it was fine, I remember one where we stuck her in the buggy and gave her a bag of raisins. It does worry me though trailing a 2yo and a 3 1/2 yo to antenatal appointments but theres nothing else I can do, if I get any comments I will tell them fine I won't be able to make it!

PPP - worrying time about the pink mucus I had some of this with DD1 and two big red bleeds and she was fine, I would phone the EPU or GP and get booked in for a scan just to put your mind at rest.

Right must go to bed soon night night all x

paulaplumpbottom · 09/12/2007 22:31

cute bump

mcchesers · 10/12/2007 07:42

Morning All..back to feeling pukey last night all night and again this morning. joy! had some time brushing my teeth, I'll tell ya.

SK/Santa- I'm over in Shawlands..well on the edge of Shawlands/Newlands. It's not so bad..but we need to sell and get off the main road if for nothing but my state of mind.

Two more weeks to go folks!!

mcchesers · 10/12/2007 07:43

aww cute bump piggly..

sweetkitty · 10/12/2007 09:31

mcchesers - don't know that side of Glasgow at all, we will need to move eventually as well or build an extension but DP keener on moving I just think of the stress with 3 children. We only have 3 bedrooms and the third bedroom isn't that big so once DB needs her/his own room the DDs will have to share although I am sure they will love it.

Feel so sick this morning have a friend and her little boys coming up in a bit so need to get the house organised.

Jodiew79 · 10/12/2007 09:56

Morning folks, anybody out there?

I'm relieved to hear that everyone elses clothes are getting tight, I thought it migt just be my sweet tooth, and my constant hunger! but phew, mind you last time I remamber having to wear my DH jeans to my 12 week Scan.. A week tomorrow and I have mine! can't wait, will be a weight off my mind, as I'm sure it is with everyone!!!!!!

Does anyone else panic and check for blood everytime they go to the loo?

EEC · 10/12/2007 10:24

I check every single time! I know I didn't with the other 2. I'm constantly hungry too. Am currently eating lasagne (mid morning)!

Don't know whether to buy a new bra yet as don't know if this growth spurt is over yet. I suppose I'd better - things are getting quite uncomfortable...

paulaplumpbottom · 10/12/2007 10:38

Its wonderful!!!!! I woke up this morning and I don't feel sick. Not at all. And I am hungry. I ate a whole bowl of cereal and I still feel great and I don'thve the urge to throw it up. I hope I have seen the back of the morning sickness

Jodiew79 · 10/12/2007 10:55

Funny you should say that, I was just thinking the same thing!

I had a really horrible attack of MS on Friday, was dry heaving in the street! bet everyone who drove past thought I was some alchy esp as I had DS in buggy!!! I felt rough ALL DAY! Then I have felt fine Sat, Sun and today! I finally got my appetite back yesterday! Hurrah!

EEC I would buy a new bra if I were you, I got myself measured at M & S and then went to Asda and bought 3 cheap ones. Seemed to do the trick, esp as it's early days and I'm not sure how long they will fit for. In my last pregnancy I went from a 34b to a 36DD overnight.. so you have my every sympathy!

paulaplumpbottom · 10/12/2007 11:00

Make sure you get measured for the bra. It has to fit right. Mothercare does good bras. Also make sure there is no underwire. I found sports bras were great during my first pregnancy

bealcain · 10/12/2007 11:22

I'm sorry to contradict PPP, but if like me you are very well endowed in the boob department then it's fine to and better for you to wear underwire. however, you do have to be extra careful and gt measured properly. NO wire can be on your breast tissue, in all fairness it shouldn't be anyway! they have now started doing nursing bras with underwire for anyone needing extra support!

has anyone decided that they're gonig to breastfeed yet? anyone else into the continuum concept and attachment parenting style?

Jodiew79 · 10/12/2007 11:25

I'm not sure about BF. My DS was born without the sucking reflex and he was a slight bit jaunice, so we had ever such a lot of trouble latching on, and when he did he'd just fall asleep. I got so stressed out about it my milk dried up. It sends shivers down my spine thinking about going through that time all over again....

My thoughts are to try and at least if he/she gets the first milk then thats the best bit..... Will think about it more nearer the time I think.....

Jodiew79 · 10/12/2007 11:26

Oh just had Kit Kat without wafer.. bonus

paulaplumpbottom · 10/12/2007 11:30

Bealcain could be right, its just the last time I was pregnant my nurse said no underwires.

I definatly plan to BF. I breastfed my dd till 18 months and loved it.

bealcain · 10/12/2007 11:32

PPP - they have to advise that as most women dont get fitted these days and when they do they're not fitted properly. some companies aren't trained properly and can actually do you more damage than good.

i'm still feeding both ds's ds1 is 2.2 and ds2 9months, hope to tandem feed again. am also the slinging queen so if anyone wants advice, shout this way!

Jodiew79 · 10/12/2007 11:34

I was really jealous of all the mums that could, it was brill and so much easier when we went out.

On the other hand, my first night out was when ds was 5 weeks (lucky I know, my travelling sister was staying with us for a while! no such luck this time, she in Oz!) and I didn't have to worry about feeding... Oh I don't know.....

Jodiew79 · 10/12/2007 11:35

before you say, I know BF is best, but I had such a nightmare and me and ds were so much happier when we started on formula that for me, that was best........

paulaplumpbottom · 10/12/2007 11:45

I think everyone finds out what works best for them when it happens.

MINNIE1 · 10/12/2007 11:47

PaulaYatesbiggestfan
When i was expecting DD2, DD1 would always be kicking when changing and bathing! But i think bubs should be still in your low down, so may have missed. I would be thinking you are ok unless you start to cramp and have discharge.

All well here, apart form sore throat that is so sore! I am catching everything that is going! Off to the doc today cause i have had enough of being sick and felling inwell. I have never been so unwell in all my life!

Hope you are all well and bubs are cooking nicely.

paulaplumpbottom · 10/12/2007 11:47

Well I wouldn't advice going to M&S or anything. I get most of my bras made anyway so i'm sure the boutique I go to measure fine.

Jodiew79 · 10/12/2007 11:48

Thats a good philosphy to have, I'll just go with the flow this time...

As for bra's I'm wearing underwire at the moment, should I stop?
