Hola

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
skidaddle · 30/11/2007 13:51

yes we're still debating names despite brilliant suggestions from my DH (mowgli, reef), dreams (pipe cleaner, biryani) and from dd (mummy poo). Am really beginning to think this baby will be nameless for 6 weeks...

what is an arbirotoreum?

suey2 · 30/11/2007 13:53

Clara- will there be any issue with initials? My surname begins with N and so DH is determined that we do not have a vowel for a middle name.

suey2 · 30/11/2007 13:54

off to bounce on my birth ball for a bit. Oo and maybe a bit of i'm a celebrity from last night. I know it's shite, but just what PG brain needs!

mellymooks · 30/11/2007 13:58

We've settled on names, it's weird we agreed on boys name months before we were even trying for baby.
It's taken us until last week to choose a girls name though.
Sorry but i'm sworn to secrecy - no one but the two of us knows what they are!!

claraquitebignow · 30/11/2007 13:59

Suey - no I'm a celebrity is great viewing for pregnancy brains. I have been hooked
If we chose Martha Erin the initials would be MEW....

An Arboretum (have got spelling right now as just looked at their website) is like a foresty place. They have special Enchanted Christmas evenings as from this weekend. Unfortunately though the earliest you can get in is 5pm so not sure how practical it is going to be.

Do you often think there is so much more you will be able to do with dd when she is older?

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 14:05

melly - I decided on DD's name when I was about 25 (had her at 31 and just informed DH what we would be calling her when I met him!!) so I know what you mean about planing ahead..

claraq - MEW is a great set of initials
Arboretum sounds lovely - you could always keep her up a bit late (and hope for a lie-in the next day)?

I've never really thought about what I could do with DD when she is older - am more likely to worry about her getting older too fast and never being a baby again _ get very emotional about that, esp. when older mothers tell me the preschool years are the best

claraquitebignow · 30/11/2007 14:09

I think it's just me stupidly wishing away the years until we can take dd on scuba diving holidays
But I will SO miss this stage, she is so lovely and funny at the moment with the things she comes out with.
Of course she does my head in as well, especially when she runs around refusing to get dressed or won't eat the very item of food she has just asked for.....

claraquitemassivenow · 30/11/2007 14:13

Have had another name change...

Amani · 30/11/2007 14:19

Afternoon ladies,
Just having a quick nosey to see if anyone else has dropped?

just skimmed read:
We have an Arboretum (sp? I did a degree in Maths so my spelling has always been rubbish) nearby - one of those places that we said we would visit but never find the time to.

Skid - biryani sounds like a wonderful name - very unique up there with the likes of 'Apple', 'Brooklyn' etc..you'd never need to mention the surname as everyone will know who it is just by the first name.

Claraq - i think the same about DD and all the places I'd like to take her when she is older, so at least she will have good memories of what we done.

mixedmama · 30/11/2007 14:29

Love it claraq.

I do wonder what we will do with DS as he gets older, but equally i am trying to relish this time with him as well... will really miss it. 18 years seems like it will come by tomorrow. I love his dependence on me atm but also watching him gain his independence very weird feeling. So gllad I have the next 9 months off as i really feel like i have let him down a little by going back to work so early and stuff so it is going to be great being at home with my 2 boys.

DH is trying to stage a coup over names even tho we decided on Ediz and have been referring to bump as such and told DS1 that Ediz is in mummys belly and an old friend got in contact with me and her DD name rhymes with Ediz so now DH is saying lets keeep looking. Half heartedly looked at some yesterday and he came home with two suggestions:

Mikael and Ejaz. First one is ok but makes me think Gorbachov (sp) and second one I dont like so think we will be sticking with Ediz, but will let him continue his search until the day when i just name DS2 Ediz.

My cousin wanted the name Mikeal if she had a boy, but I reminded her of the former president which put her off too!

Not keen on Ejaz - as it reminds me of a very starnge person!

DH and I both want a name that we have no assiations with so have decided Hannah for girl and still a choice between Nael or Daniyal for boy. Kind of going off Daniyal - as it reminds me of the word 'Dunya' in my langauage (both DH and I are from different backgrounds) which means 'Corriander' lol

DD seems to have developed a very strong inquisive (sp?) mind of her own and she's just picked up the phrase 'Are you going to pay for that?' so when I took her to Morrison today, everything that I put in my basket she asked me that question. Bless her - love her to bits [grn]

Stull no babies - what is going on?? Due today and when I saw the MW yesterday it seems Button is still floating around freely with no intention of coming out Told her about all my contractions and she said it was a good sign and yes, it was unusual to go for hours at 4mins then tail off again but it should all be helping down there to stretch things out. Did confrim though that when I see the Consultant on Wed only way they will NOT book me for a section and let me keep going a but would eb if a) I was part way dilated already and b) Button was fully engaged - not looking likely then!!

Didn't manage the hot curry or hot sex for past two nights - do you thing even mild cosy warm sex counts??? Maybe tonight you never know.

Re names we're thinking of Elise for a middle name if pink flavour - my Dads real mum (adopted at birth and he never got to meet her but now knows family etc) was Elsie but that seems too old fashioned - what's peoples opinion of altering letters round - think he'd still love it - first name will be Freya. Also, is only was DH will ever get a Lotus 'Elise' car!!!!

fifisworld · 30/11/2007 15:57

Wizz - Hope you are ok

Ive just come back from the hospital..i dont need to go in for any more iron infusions
Im so pleased i dont have to trail in there twice a week now i can do without it. Im not back until the 12th Dec which is the day before my cs to have my pre-op assessment.

mixedmama · 30/11/2007 16:00

Lol over coriander.... dunya means world in Turkish and Arabic too i think.

I liked Isa at the beginning, which is Islamic Jesus but Dh said in Bengali Isa is prawns... which flumoxed me as I couldnt understand how a prophets name could be a prawn... but today he explained that Isa Mas means prawn fish (prawns) and Isa is Jesus. All makkes sense now altho still odd.

I am sticking to Ediz anyway as we havent agreed on anything else and are unlikely too.

Oh my god, just seen JARM's pictures I WANT ONE OF THOSE!!!!

Sorry just had to get that out.

BEanster, sorry I missed out on why you have to have a section? I had to get my head round the idea when th whole breech trauma was escalating, I'm glad he's turned now though fingers crossed you get the outcome you want, come on beansterbaby get your head down!! (obvious suggestion but have you tried rocking on a birthing ball at all?)

Mixedmama - Lol over the fishy jesus name!!

Good luck to Wizzka xxxxx

Beanstermummy · 30/11/2007 16:27

Lizzer - last time with DD I ended up at 9ams for hours on end and in the end had to have an emergency section. It's coz of that, that this time they have said they'll let me go until Wed, but generally are cautious about induction if you've had a section - so they won't do that - hence, Wed being deadline for natural birth and will then be booked in. Trying to avoid it though as had horrid time recovering last time and with nutty little 2 1/2 yr old DD running around can only see it being worse - but, we'll see. Trying to remian positive. And yes, ball, RLT, Curry - getting through the list

Wizzska · 30/11/2007 16:40

Beanster - hope you get your natural birth. I'm staring induction in the face. Just had a kip, in case I have to go to hospital tonight. Still no contractions. Waters still leaking though not as much. When will it start!!!

Beanstermummy · 30/11/2007 16:41

Just read back the thread and wondered how wizzka is doing? I thought they would leave it a couple of days at most (ie. the 48hrs) after waters break until getting concerned and so induction - seems a bit promt only going 12 hrs or so?

Wizzska · 30/11/2007 16:42

Beanster, Whittington's policy is 18 hours.

Beanstermummy · 30/11/2007 16:44

Cross posts wizzka - hope things go ok - positive thoughts are winging their way to you - contractions will start with no need for induction and perfect huggable LO will arrive pain free and smiley At least you've nt got to worry about your waters now going in sainsbury's etc (Constant dread of mine whenever I'm anywhere but on the loo or in the bath)

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 16:49

how are you feeling wizzska - and how do you feel about being induced? probably won;t need to much to start it off as your waters have already broken so it won't necessarily be a bad thing? But then again if you really don;t want to be induced, just ay no. Just because it is their policy doesn;t mean you have to agree with it. Hope you are feeling refreshed after your sleep

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 16:50

beanster - do you not reckon you are partially dilated given all the contractions you were having the other night? hope head engages before wed

Lizzer · 30/11/2007 16:53

Ah I see Beanster, well a planned c section recovery is meant to be better than emc so i'm sure you'll be ok either way, sending you lots of dilation vibes though

Wizzka, i was induced for the same reasons as you with dd. I know not ideal but its absolutley fine though and hopefully quite a quicky as inductions usually are... Exciting stuff too, you could be meeting your lo v v v v v soon. Aww, how amazing

Beanstermummy · 30/11/2007 17:00

Skiddadle - that's exactly what I am hoping - wanted MW to have a look and see but she wasn't up for it (scuze the pun!) even since Monday I've been getting probably about 10 strong contractions throught the day and a few more at night so I can only think I'm doing something down there Keep thinking of Kilsano (?) who was 5cm's the other week without realising it and her LO popped out then in a few hours - and same happened to my big sis too so it therefore MUST be the case
