Hola

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
claraquitemassivenow · 04/12/2007 16:06

Yes I guessed about crochet hook - not croquet mallet or croque monsier or any other inappropriate instrument of torture for your nether regions (oh no I've lost it, must be something to do with late pregnancy....)

skidaddle · 04/12/2007 16:16

well I don't think a croque monsieur would have done too much damage... oh what have you done, now I want a croque monsieur

beckle - have they said anything about labour and your hernia? Will you need more monitoring or anything? You are very stoic I must say: SPD, a hernia, 2 children, 2 jobs and hardly a complaint out of you - you put the likes of me to shame!!

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 16:19

Skid's right Beckle - you're amazing!!

loucee · 04/12/2007 16:36

Housemum, it's her 4th child and had been getting backache on and off, she'd asked for an exam to see if her cervix was in favourable position etc.

Suey - whow knows, I think it's so different for everyone that one wee twinge for one person could be the start of things and yet for the next person they might've been having painful BHs etc for a wk!

loucee · 04/12/2007 16:37

Beckle - wish my button would go in, it looks like I have a 2nd nose!

loucee · 04/12/2007 16:43

Housemum, I would love little one to arrive round about due date. This works in perfectly for DH to be off the week before Christmas, the week between Christmas and NY then the week after NY which coincides with the childminders holidays as well so that would suit me down to the ground!

Beanstermummy · 04/12/2007 16:46

HI guys. This is getting silly - why are no babies coming out?? I'm now 5 days late and still having mad hours on end of strong contractions which then stop again - 4 hrs last night up to 5 mins apart then within half an hour, nothing. Can't believe since I last logged on on Friday no-one has had a baby yet??

See Consultant tomorrow and no doubt they will be pressuring me into going in for planned section on Thur or Fri (well according to MW last week that'll be the case). DH and I want to wait and see though until at least Mon (I'll still be only 11 days over then). Just don't see why tomorrow should be the deadline just because a Wed is when my Doc has her clinic?

I think we should all have a massive positive though seance type thingy and see if we can get all those lazy late ones out tomorrow

I know what you mean Beanster - it's 4th today and I would've expected more babies to have been arriving.

I hope you can push for Monday, if everything is going well then surely a couple of days wont hurt?

suey2 · 04/12/2007 17:02

good luck beanster! and chocpeanut

just finished making a new york style cheesecake- 1st time for this recipe- now in the bain marie- but have to wait hours before i can eat it .

time for yet another rest and a bit of mumsnet.

no stretch marks yet- but ahve plenty from puberty to keep me going.

amani- i know what you mean about feeling a bit bored- but honestly you will soon settle into your ML.

cazzy- did you go to the movies? i am going tomorrow and saturday

loucee · 04/12/2007 17:33

talking of the movies, can anyone recommend anything good to see? I've got some Odeon vouchers to use so might as well take myself during mat leave, been ages since I last went.
(if I go alone I can spend the rest of the vouchers on a HUGE pick and mix )

Amani · 04/12/2007 17:39

Loucee - I haven't been for ages and our local one does yummy nachos with this lovely cheese sauce and hot jalepenos, yum yum.

Lots of Xmassy movies out - what about that one with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig - the Compass something...??

Amani · 04/12/2007 17:40

Keep meaning to ask - but has anyone noticed any effects as a result of drinking RLT? Thinking about whether to start on it as I will be 37 wks soon

loucee · 04/12/2007 17:58

Amani - yeah spose I should actually take DH with me as it'll be a while until we next get an opportunity to go without DD and the baby.

I've been taking the tablets but not the tea, haven't noticed any changes at all

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 18:09

No i haven't noticed any changes from the RL, but then i'm not sure you're meant to, isn't it just meant to strengthen your uterine muscles?

mememummy · 04/12/2007 18:11

mememummy · 04/12/2007 18:29

is any1s dh scared at the prospect of becommin a dad?

Caz10 · 04/12/2007 18:37

Mmmmm all I can think of now is a croque monsieur! Yummy!

I went through my birth plan today with the MW (1st timer) it was a bit vague but I'd say that was down to me rather than her...when you don't know what's going to happen it's hard to specify things! I just asked for lots of skin to skin contact asap afterwards and as soon a start to (hopefully) breastfeeding afterwards as poss. The unit seem quite big on keeping mobile during the labour anyway, and they have 3 pools so fingers crossed they won't all be busy! They also have a policy on waiting till the cord stops pulsating too, which is something I'd seen a few people mention on here before. They also don't routinely give episiotomies (sp?!).

I'm going to see Golden Compass this week so will post a review! Looks good fun for Xmas and there isn't a lot else on that I fancy.

Thank you so much for the raspbery leaf tea link, MW reminded me to start that today. She also recommended sex, red wine and a Chinese curry!

Caz10 · 04/12/2007 18:38

Keep meaning to say - is anyone else stressing re baby movements etc? I'm convinced something's going to go wrong at this late stage...can feel myself turning into a bit of a basket case about it...just want baby out safe and sound.

Bouncingturtle · 04/12/2007 18:39

Yes, I second the "where are the babies?" We want more babies!!!
Been quite busy today, ticked off lots of things off my list - have finished hanginf the new curtains, organised vets appointment for my kitty to have his jabs, got car booked in for service, tidied the drawers in the kitchen and had a good ranty shout at the Halifax who still haven't given me my £100 for opening an account . Think it's sorted now, should get it in the next couple of days. I think it helped when I was nearly crying on the phone telling them I'm about to have a baby and I don't NEED this hassle!!
Saw my friend and her ds, can't believe he is 12 weeks old!! He is growing so quickly
His Daddy has been away on a course and it sounds like he has been missed, when he arrived back home on Friday, Luke was getting very excited!
She did say something, which I think will be particularly relevent to us first timers, those with DPs - it is very easy when baby comes along for DP to feel left out - people buy cards and pressies for baby and mum but not for dad! My friend bought a present for her Dh from DS and a neighbour gave him some cigars but that was it. He confided in her that he felt a bit hurt and pushed out. So I'm going to try to make sure my DH doesn't feel that way, and I might drop the hint to some friends to get him a little present - doesn't need to be much but just to congratulate him on being a daddy.

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 18:58

Caz10 - I'm the same re. movements of baby, everytime I realise haven't felt anything for a while, I get really paranoid - you're def. not alone!!

Housemum · 04/12/2007 18:59

caz10 - know what you mean - I don't get out of bed in the morning until I've felt the first movements - which usually means about 15 minutes of shuffling around so I can be sure it's well and truly awake and moving!

Bouncing - people so love buying little baby bits that they ignore the rest of the family - I try to do a little "goody bag" to the family - when friend's DD2 was born, I bought an outfit for the baby, some bath stuff for friend, a little Polly Pocket set for DD1 and some Scotch for her DH.

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 19:00

Just read all of jarm's bf thread has brought tears to my eyes - sounds like she's doing so well, MN so great so much support and genuine care and love about the place.

Ambi · 04/12/2007 19:02

American Gangster is a good film, if not a bit violent and drugsy - very strange to watch it with my mum, but even she enjoyed it.
