Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mememummy · 04/12/2007 11:51

hi every1, i had my show last week, but nothing since then, im still at home, havin pains bout every ten mins asnd constant back ache, not gettin much closer, but are def gettin stronger now im up and about.

good luck 4 2moro choc

mememummy · 04/12/2007 11:52

im still not sure if it is labour or just a practise run

RGPargy · 04/12/2007 11:55

meme - why dont you phone your midwife and see what they say? Are you having baby at home or hospital? Phone the delivery suite and get advice.

Hope it's all go for you!!!

mememummy · 04/12/2007 11:57

mw never answers, im going hosp but im scared cuz i cant get hold of dh!!! he locked in a prison 1hr away

RGPargy · 04/12/2007 12:03

If the MW never answers, give the delivery suite a call at the hospital and they'll be able to help you. Does DH work in a prison rather than being an inmate?? Dont be scared hunni, you'll be fine.

mememummy · 04/12/2007 12:06

yeh he a chef, but theyve got a big inspection or somethin today he usually rings me around now but its very quiet for a change

Housemum · 04/12/2007 12:14

Meme - sounds like even if you are in labour, it's some time still to go - try to relax and let the MWs check you out - they can put you on a monitor for a few mins to see what's happening to LO's hearate and if you are having proper contractions, IIRC. They may do an internal to see if you've started dilating - I think they try to avoid doing too many internal exams nowadays, but last time they did one when I first went in. So you should have plenty of time to find out what's happening and call DH. I think you said before that you were only allowed to call if you were pretty sure it was labour? I can see why all the rules and regs of not contacting him at work in a prison, but you think that this would be one of the situations where they allow a bit of leeway - after all, dozens of women must have false alarms, or long labours but they want DP there with them.

skidaddle · 04/12/2007 12:16

meme - strong contractions every ten mins def sounds like labour - I would give the delivery suite and see what they say

RG - oops I meant wizzska, not thelady - how are you feeling - any contractions?

RGPargy · 04/12/2007 12:19

skid - no contractions, as such, but still have my period type tummy ache and am still having a show. Hopefully it'll be imminent!

tabimum · 04/12/2007 12:29

chocpeanut - I was out after 3 nights with an emergency c-section - and I think they kept me in longer as I couldnt get breastfeeding established, and really wanted to - am sure if I had just gone onto bottle then (rather than the first night I got home!) I would have gone home after 2 nights. Good luck for tomorrow.

Oh that's a good idea Loopy! Do you sloosh your fanjo post-pee or during or before?

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 13:50

As a total newbie to all this, what do you use the witch hazel for?

skidaddle · 04/12/2007 13:58

RG - think you pour the water during weeing

melly - you can put witch hazel on your pads and they soothe cuts and bruises post-birth

RGPargy · 04/12/2007 13:59

Thanx skid. Didn't know that about witch hazel either.

cazzybabs · 04/12/2007 14:00

Oh god thinking about all this - the 1st poo after childbirth....sigh it really is all coming back!

I'd forgotten about that!!!!!!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 14:10

Hey you lot don't scare the first timers too much!!

skidaddle · 04/12/2007 14:10

But the thought was much worse than the reality, wasn't it? Or is that my amnesia hormones kicking in again?

skidaddle · 04/12/2007 14:15

melly - pooing is not that bad IME - it's just the thought of pushing after the pushing of labour can be a bit traumatic and you think your insides are going to fall out - BUT importantly they DON"T!!!

Yes - it is your body saying I really don't want to push anymore thanks! And everyone is obsessed with have you done a poo yet?

SIgh - am off to the midwife now!

But good news is have had the schedule for our new kitchen - they are starting on the 7th and finishing (touchwood) on the 17th. But they want the rest of the money up front now...hummmmm

mellymooks · 04/12/2007 14:28

Can you get those feme pads from Boots? They sound really good.

loucee · 04/12/2007 14:30

Sounds like this is the start of things Meme. Try and rest to conserve energy but if you don't want things to stop then keep up and about too!

Skidaddle - these femepads are like icepacks that are shaped like a mat pad. you freeze it then put a bit of gauze over it (disposable ones supplied with the packet) then put it down below. I really could've done with something like that last time as think the coolness would help with swollen undercarriage!

Thanks re the jug Loopsy, will get a spare.

Cazzy - lol yes it was topic of conversation at every visit wasn't it - have you passed a stool!
