PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 10:41

No worries @notinthestarsigns, I hope everything is super smooth for you when it's your turn ❤😘

@Hoares3 Huge congratulations, baby Ellis is gorgeous! Omg 🥰🥰😍 and these muslin cloths are great too, btw, Leo loves spitting milk alllll over them 😄

@Inmypjsagain This is going to start for me later this week...for now enjoying the peace, just the three of us! Hope you're feeling ok despite the obvious tiredness? ❤xxx

Ava50x · 09/08/2021 11:06

@Hoares3 congratulations! Well done on a speedy labour!

@sarah13xx @Daffodil21 best of luck with your sections today, waiting to hear your news whenever you're both ready to update us!

I've been super emotional all day yesterday, crying all the time for the soppiest of things. Anyone else like this? I feel really stupid!

Just had to share that I popped into the loo for a couple of minutes this morning. I came out to discover that my 3 lovely DS had decorated my bedroom windows with maternity pads!! No idea what the neighbours were thinking, I hope they didn't think it was some kind of strange birth announcement because there is no baby yet!! It does feel good to laugh though...

RandomCatGenerator · 09/08/2021 11:36

Congratulations @Hoares3! Wow, that is one seriously speedy arrival!

@Daffodil21 @sarah13xx all the very best for today.

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 12:16

good luck today @Daffodil21 @sarah13xx
@Hoares3 she’s beautiful

sarah13xx · 09/08/2021 12:23

Thanks everyone.. still waiting. Was nearly going in at 12 because the third person’s covid result hadn’t come back yet but it’s just came back so she’s going first. Mine will be half 1ish 😬 The staff are lovely and the anesthetist has calmed me down a lot about the spinal. I just want it out the way now!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 09/08/2021 12:29

@Hoares3 congratulations! What a beautiful baby you have ❤️

lucyrp · 09/08/2021 12:29

@Hoares3 congratulations! Speedy labour!

@Ava50x that's hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

@sarah13xx good luck xx

Sorry haven't been very active on here as feeling a bit lost this week, have no appointments nothing booked and definitely don't have the energy to leave the house. Feel like I could sleep all day but feel guilty for sitting down when I went baby to hurry up so am bouncing on my ball half asleep😩

Ava50x · 09/08/2021 14:04

@PurplePansy05 well done on persevering with the BF! Definitely not always easy but worth it!

Inmypjsagain · 09/08/2021 14:19

@Mummywantsaweewee congratulations!!!!

@Magik01 congratulations to you!!! Adore the name Isaac!

@Ready2020 congratulations 💖 she is beautiful

@Hoares3 congratulations- so gorgeous!

Hope everyone’s recovery is going well and you’re enjoying the snuggles!

@biscuitcat hope things are gojng well with you! And @MrsB2019x also hope induction is going well. Thinking of you both!

@RandomCatGenerator I wasn’t able to do skin to skin during c section- position of my arms with cannula etc but my husband did it instead! The midwives worked on breastfeeding as soon as I was in the recovery ward and that’s how we established breast feeding- my supply wasn’t great though so he was topped up with formula, because he was clearly hungry on day one and I didn’t have enough to satisfy him.

@PurplePansy05 so glad to hear you and lovely Leo are at home and settled, glad you could get out and get into your own routine! Amazing the breast feeding is working too- your posts sound so contented and I’m really thrilled for you! How are you feeling now? Oh definitely enjoy the bubble of the 3 of you- it was great seeing everyone, baby boy is so loved and it’s so heart warming, but it was tiring! We went for a walk to the park too as I felt like I hadn’t moved enough. I’m tired but not like pregnancy tired, it’s mainly just from a week of broken nights rather than exhaustion if that makes sense? But socialising was tiring, haven’t seen that many people in ages!

In terms of recovery from c section- I’m now a week on, swelling gone down a lot but not totally in my legs. My belly probably looks about 4 months pregnant but my boobs are just obscene at this point. I’m going to measure them later out of interest! My dressing came off 2 days after the section and the scar looks fine to be honest, stitches came out last week. It burns a bit when I move alot but it’s not too painful, when I have a full bladder it definitely feels more sore. Im not taking my full dose of painkillers anymore. I’m doing my recommended exercises religiously, don’t know if they make a difference! The suppository painkillers didn’t help me with number 2- it took me 3 days to go the loo and it was fine (I was so scared!). baby boy had a midwife visit and only lost 5g from birth weight and didn’t even seem to notice his heel being pricked, so all good there!

How is everyone else doing? Those of you with a few weeks to go, hope you’re not too achey and are able to sleep. Good news is the hip pain, indigestion and sickness goes away immediately after birth! I haven’t been sick for a week which is a record for this last 9 months.

We’re about to go for a walk in the park again, feels weird pushing a pram 😂 once again, sorry for the essay…..

Inmypjsagain · 09/08/2021 14:20

And @lucyrp it sounds tough, hope baby makes an appearance for you soon. Also, don’t feel guilty for sleeping, do it, your body needs a rest so if you’re able to nap, I’d say go for it! xx

BertieBotts · 09/08/2021 15:10

Wow what a speedy induction! Glad it all went well. Awww I love all these stories of the babies but it's making me so impatient :o

DS1's phone broke so we decided to upgrade mine so that he can have my old one in time for me to be able to use the shiny new camera with the new baby :o I have my 39 week check up tomorrow. Then another one booked on the following Monday which is my actual due date. So fingers crossed we get some info about how imminent labour is.

Inmypjsagain · 09/08/2021 15:15

Did you speak to your OH about bedtime, Bertie? Sounds tricky… I guess there’ll be a point when you’ll be in hospital and he’ll have to the bedtime routine himself? And you’ll love the new camera- I’ve taken about 100000000000 photos and videos 😂 I’ve become one of those parents, he’ll be asleep next to me and when I’ve stopped staring at him I’ll be looking at photos of him…

lucyrp · 09/08/2021 15:39

@Inmypjsagain the last couple of nights have actually been the best nights sleep in a while but I'm sure that's just a fluke! Xx

@BertieBotts I also upgraded my phone on Saturday as I had completely forgot it was my birthday a day after my due date and had a message about a free upgrade early so thought why not 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 nice new camera too! Although the phone is pretty much the same🤣

PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 16:17

@Inmypjsagain So glad you're both doing well and settling in, it sounds like things are going very similar for us 🥰

I've managed to express breast milk for DS today as I'm having my nails done tomorrow, tut tut! 🥳 What I didn't realise is that my nipples now have this new ability to squirt milk out far up and wide like a little boy's penis 😳 That was interesting! 🤣 xx

HopefulB · 09/08/2021 16:57

Thanks again @Inmypjsagain and @PurplePansy05 for sharing your section stories, and @RandomCatGenerator for sharing link to section thread.

We had a failed ECV today so awaiting appointment for section @39weeks.

HopefulB · 09/08/2021 16:58

Aghhh! I didn’t mean to make a tag of 39weeks- apologies if that pulls in a random person!!

Ready2020 · 09/08/2021 17:02

Hi everyone. I've totally lost track of what's going on here sorry. Congratulations to all mums and babies who have arrived. It's such a surreal terrifying experience being a mum lol. I'm breastfeeding as well and while she gets all she needs I'm obviously having some latching issues as it's getting quite sore. She needs to take a bigger bite of the boob apparently but I'm finding it hard to get that latch. Especially at 3am when she is feeding and I just think well that will do as I'm so freaking tired! Can't remember if I put her name as we hadn't decided on it at first but it's Rowan.

The birth was not as planned I guess you can say. Started off lovely in the birthing suite but was at 4cm for ages and not getting far so they had to break my waters. When they did that it had meconium in it so we had to go to the labour ward. On the journey up there the pains started to get very very intense as she was moving down. They asked if I wanted morphine and I agreed enthusiastically 😂 it was so intense I couldn't get off the chair they wheeled me up in and I started swearing when they weren't fast enough with the drugs lol. Then had a few different positions and an episiotomy to get her out. Was the most scary experience of my life and tbh I'm a little traumatised by it still. They took an age to stitch me up and I lost over a litre of blood.

The stay on the ward was not fab. I didn't realise quite how hot hospitals are and didn't sleep at all after a full previous night in labour. The midwives ended up taking Rowan away for a few hours and some formula as I was numb and incoherent with sleep deprivation. I got iron on the drip and 3 bags of fluid to help me recover as I was very weak. I was so glad to get home.

Today has been better. Managed a few hours sleep between feeds. Still quite dizzy when walking so not going far. My iron levels got to 75 so will take some time to get to 100%.

I take it all newborns don't like being left by themselves much at all? Always needing to be on someone? It's lovely but a little restricted. We've tried to put her down on a wee bed in the lounge with us after a feed when she's in a milk coma but even then she knows and wakes up.

WinterBabyof89 · 09/08/2021 17:34

@Ready2020 I’m so sorry Labour went the way it did. Rest up as best you can.
I joined a local breastfeeding support group on FB : haven’t accessed it yet but it’s full of women who have a lot of experience.
What position do you have baby in when latching? And what support systems are in place near you?

WinterBabyof89 · 09/08/2021 17:36

@PurplePansy05 isn’t it bloody amazing that they make milk haha I’m still astounded. I haven’t expressed yet but hope to do so in the near future to give OH a night feed. What type of pump do you have?

Daffodil21 · 09/08/2021 17:52

Haven't caught up yet but just popped on to say Elliot James was born today at 2:15pm, weighing 8lbs 11oz ( 😱)!

He is perfect 🥰❤️

PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 18:49

Ohhhh @Daffodil21 this is the best news!!! I am so bloody happy for you, I'm literally bursting here as if my own son was born again 🥰😍🌈 It's the best feeling ever when your rainbow finally comes along. Enjoy every second and welcome Elliot James ❤ xxx

PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 18:51

And you got yourself a little whopper there, nearly the same weight as my DS, well done you 😆❤ xxx
