@Inmypjsagain I'm sure someone on here has experienced water breaking?

I read it would be a gush or a steady trickle. @Magik01 is right, put a pad in and check if it gets soaked, how fast and how much. Also check the smell and colour. Any blood?

I suspect your discharge has changed before the delivery, it's what's happened to me as well but mine has gone from watery throughout which was driving me mad to creamy now xx

Inmypjsagain · 28/07/2021 16:28

Thank you re: waters, they did tell me to keep an eye on it with a pad, there was more so I’m currently in triage waiting to be checked out. There’s no blood, it wasn’t a gush, I just saw it in my pants and knackered and aster an hour the pad was wet but not soaked. Hoping I’m just being very OTT, but I’d rather be checked. It’s just the fact my pants felt so wet, I thought I could have it wet myself or something. Thanks for your replies! I’ll update later (and read the rest of the thread) xxx

Ready2020 · 28/07/2021 16:34

Thought I'd mention a funny story about waters breaking. I had a bad cough recently so at night I would have have water near by and drank a lot to stop the coughing. So I'd wake up a lot to pee it all out.

One night at about 3am I got up to pee and stood up, coughed and all this liquid gushed out to soak my feet. I freaked out thinking my waters had broken and started to shout to my partner. I coughed again then and realised I had just peed myself from coughing so hard 😂😂

Thankfully my OH didn't wake up so I could clean myself up without losing too much dignity 😁

Thanks for the new thread. Can’t wait to hear more babies being born!!

@Inmypjsagain mine went in hospital while I was on the antenatal ward with the balloon in. I had a mild twingey pain and then felt and heard a pop and felt a trickle. I said to my husband (who was actually 5 mins away from being kicked out as visiting hours were over) “I think my waters have gone then I moved and it was like the floodgates opened 😂 it would not stop coming and it was really warm. I then had a dignified walk through the ward with soaking wet grey joggers on to the toilet 😳.

Hope you are all doing well. Final stretch now for so many of you. You can do it!

Caz1226 · 28/07/2021 17:12

Hi everyone
Ahhhh looking at the list I can’t believe some babies are making an appearance I feel like we have all been waiting forever! Huge congratulations and welcome to the work for baby Sophia and baby boy 🥰
I have 2 days left at work and cannot wait! Currently going through my hospitals bags to check I have everything I need then they are going in the car
Slightly terrified now we are coming to the end xx

sarah13xx · 28/07/2021 17:22

@Caz1226 I’m going to put mine in the car too after a final check.. just to save that 2 second job if anything happens 😂 my partners working away this week for the last time so I’m keeping everything crossed I don’t feel any slight twinges this week!

sarah13xx · 28/07/2021 17:29

@Inmypjsagain oh wow, you’ve have an exciting day! I think sometimes your ‘back waters’ can go before your waters fully go but everyone does seem to say you’ll know all about it if it happens. Could be some of your mucus plug coming away maybe? I watched a video about how it’s not an actual ‘plug’ but just mucous that collects in a certain place and can start to be released a while before labour. Hope you’ve managed to have it checked and your waters haven’t gone yet

Aaaaa1519 · 28/07/2021 17:43

@Inmypjsagain that sounds like waters to me, almost identical experience with my waters going. Good call going in
@Daffodil21 I’ve had a more relaxed day and movements have been back to normal, thank you for asking x

livingwithbees · 28/07/2021 19:14

Thanks for adding me!

@Inmypjsagain I’ve had similar this afternoon but massively doubting myself as it seems to have stopped now.

PurplePansy05 · 28/07/2021 19:39

@Inmypjsagain How are you doing? Crikey I hope you're not giving birth right now?! 😆 xx

alittlexmasmagic · 28/07/2021 20:53

I can't remember who was talking about delayed cord clamping during C-Section but I asked my MW about it today. She said they tend to "milk the cord" (as if you were de-skinning a sausage in my mind) which pushes the blood into baby for the same effect, just shortening the operating time x

Ava50x · 28/07/2021 20:59

@PurplePansy05 thanks for the updated list. So exciting that so many babies will be arriving shortly!

Thanks to all who responded to my question re c-section/induction. Your stories and experiences are all fascinating, so thank you for sharing. I think you are all very brave!

My Mum had a couple of ELCS's and tbh I never thought I could do it vaginally. When DS1 was born with only pool/gas & air for pain relief, my mum thought I was nuts!! But I guess I am lucky that my births have all been pretty quick and easy. I always maintain that the only good outcome is healthy mum & baby.

Thanks again for sharing!

sarah13xx · 28/07/2021 21:10

@alittlexmasmagic ew sounds disgusting 🤣 the nurse said at my hospital as long as everything is going okay they delay it for 1 minute until it stops pulsing. Quite glad they’re just making the decision and it’s not for me to choose! Feel like there’s too many choices

Inmypjsagain · 28/07/2021 21:17

Hi all- bit of a stressful day really but all ok. Went to the loo and my pants were all wet, like the whole middle area (oh it has a word that I can’t think of! The bit where you stick a panty liner to). I thought surely that couldn’t happen without me knowing, as I felt nothing. So I called the maternity helpline, who said put a pad on monitor for an hour. So I did, pad was very wet at the end of the hour, so they told me to come in. Definitely not wee but still not sure if it was watery discharge- clear and odourless, no blood etc the midwife asks me to show her! And she’s like oh yes that’s amniotic fluid. At this point I’m Like ??! Shouldn’t I have had a bloody show/mucus plug/contractions but nothing. I put a new a pad on and its bone dry. I was due to have a growth scan after my midwife appointment this morning so they did it today and amniotic fluid levels look normal. So they keep me in and I’m flapping because I’m due a c section! Nothing further- midwife things that more should be coming out if it’s waters. So they keep me in and nothing… so my c section has now been brought forward a day and my pre op covid test is now tomorrow. I’m checking back in with them tomorrow too and Potentially might have another scan. Then I guess we’ll go from there.

So I feel a bit silly but there seemed to be so much and then nothing? But as I said I’ll be checked tomorrow and I’ve got my pad on to continue monitor.

Sorry I realise my earlier message made no sense- I was stressed (!) and typing in a rush! Thank you for all your advice, what it was like for you and checking in! @livingwithbees how’s your leaking going?

I’m going to bed now because this has wiped me out, they said my blood pressure was a bit high and I said yes that will be stress!!! Hope everyone else is doing well xxxx

(@Jessicapebbles incase everything goes mad tomorrow and I don’t get online, best of luck for Friday! I’ll be thinking of you x )

Jessicapebbles · 28/07/2021 21:21

@Inmypjsagain Oh my goodness it sounds like you’ve had a right day 🤦🏻‍♀️ Bless you!! Fingers crossed no more leaking and everything settles down for you!

Thank you so much, it’s starting to feel very very real now and I’m feeling a bit nervous…even though I wasn’t nervous in the slightest with my first..I think I’m anxious because now I have her, I really worry something might go wrong (I know the chances are slim but I always jump to the worst scenario). Just want it done and to get home ASAP!

Xx

Hoares3 · 28/07/2021 21:21

Just marking my space, going to catch up thread now congrats to all those babies that have arrived and all those imminent arrivals it's all getting very real!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 28/07/2021 21:28

@Inmypjsagain gosh sounds like a day babe. Definitely get some rest and am glad you're home! Tomorrow's a new day keep us posted. Thinking of you xx

wimbler · 28/07/2021 21:29

@Jessicapebbles my piece of advice for the night before you go in is watch some films you like and have seen before and don’t put any pressure on yourself to fall asleep. Good luck for Friday!

Jessicapebbles · 28/07/2021 21:32

@wimbler Thank you!! I really appreciate that! Hubby and I are going to get a Chinese and watch a film I think. Then I might sneak a sleepy cuddle in with my baby girl before she gets picked up Friday morning 😭 xx

sarah13xx · 28/07/2021 22:01

@Inmypjsagain oh jeez, what a day! Hopefully you don’t get anymore. Seems promising if you haven’t had pain or a huge gush anyway! Does that make your section sunday then?

PurplePansy05 · 28/07/2021 22:11

@Inmypjsagain Oh bless you, that's stressful. Take it easy now, absolutely. Step by step, they'll guide you through and do the section sooner if needed, don't worry. It is your plan and they'll monitor you and your baby. Itvwas explained to me that the only time they wouldn't do the section if it's planned is if the labour is so advanced that it wouldn't be safe to do so anymore, but remember that's really unlikely in your case. It will all be fine, they're keeping an eye on you and it's now just a matter of whether things will progress next week or few days early. Try to keep as calm as you possibly can Flowers xx

biscuitcat · 28/07/2021 22:20

@Inmypjsagain that sounds really stressful, but glad to hear they're keeping an eye on it and it sounds like overall they're being proactive? I don't recall if you've done any hypnobirthing, but the up breathing that she describes in the positive birth company videos does wonders for me to help me keep calm when I'm stressed or overwhelmed. Only a few days now till you meet your gorgeous baby 🥰

@Jessicapebbles takeaway and a film with cuddles sounds like a perfect pre-section night xx

@alittlexmasmagic the idea of milking the cord sounds gross but I bet it's so satisfying to do!

sarah13xx · 28/07/2021 22:59

@biscuitcat I’m away to look that breathing up!

sarah13xx · 28/07/2021 23:01

Think this is it!

livingwithbees · 29/07/2021 00:19

@Inmypjsagain blimey you’ve had a day! How are you doing now? I had an early night after an uneventful day, mine stopped after a bit but I think I have been losing bits of something for the past couple of days. Now up with horrendous backache again on the ball, been having this for a bloody week now and getting to the point were I’m not sure whether I should actually be checked, movements etc fine so seems over dramatic?
