Haha! Thanks @Daffodil21! I think @biscuitcat is the true colostrum legend here though!

Hello @MK0411 and congrats. My top tips re colostrum harvesting are as follows:

  1. Warm shower. Pour nicely over your breasts, round in circles. I'm doing the same now btw and it stimulates milk supply and prevents breast pain and fatigue for me.
  2. RELAX. Totally, I mean it. Oxytocin is key in this game.
  3. Stick Love Island on or anything else that won't stress you out or keep your brain overly engaged.
  4. Sit comfy in bed/on a sofa, warm room. Prep the sterile syringes.
  5. Massage your breasts - not your nipples but the area around them and behind them. Warm them up.
  6. Follow the video that *@biscuitcat* posted earlier, it showed the squeezing technique really well.
  7. Keep going. Nothing may come out for 5 mins and it may take multiple attempts. Don't give up though.
  8. I found expressing straight to the syringe worked best for me because the amounts were tiny. I would just take the syringe and suck out every drop from my nipple as it appeared. It takes time but I could get to 0.3-0.4 ml in half an hour or so. Some of us who produced more colostrum preferred a spoon or a cup and then collecting from there with a syringe. Whatever works for you, try different things.
  9. Store your colostrum and label it as per the NHS advice. Take it to hospital and give to the midwives on arrival.

Definitely take syringes to the hospital. You'll likely be able to express more and quicker after the birth. They may have the syringes but the more the merrier - better for the baby and the more you try to express, the more supply you'll likely have (and sooner). Hth xx

@PurplePansy05 thanks so much for the detailed instructions!! I think I need to spend more time doing it! I usually give up after 5 mins or so. Will definitely try it out the way you have suggested!

Do we have a new thread? We’ll finish this one soon :)

Welcome @MK0411

Cant believe we're at the end of another thread!

@lucyrp i've got so many things I want to do... but not getting anything done! I hate this limbo stage. Lets hope it passes quickly for all of us still waiting.

I've had my ECG today. RHR still 107-120 bpm, i'm so breathless its crazy. Don't believe it'll show anything though.

Happy weekend all. Hoping the new week will bring lots of new babies!

@MK0411 welcome!
