@Ready2020 aaaw sounds like a long labour and sorry it didn't go as per plan. Glad Rowan is well (beautiful name by the way!). Keep resting as much as you can.

@Daffodil21 what a healthy baby boy with a gorgeous name too! Glad all went well. Rest away.

I'm back at triage for reduced movement and since this is the third time I've come in they are gonna speak to the doc but want me to get an induction. I'm not up for it as ccg showed baby is well and is kicking. Heart beat is well too. I just want it to naturally progress. To be honest I don't think I've got too long to go......

I've started losing bits of my mucus plug today as well so I think it's not gonna be too long before I get to meet my little surprise. I'm 38+1 today 🙏🏽

HopefulB · 09/08/2021 19:13

Massive Congratulations to you @Daffodil21! So pleased 🥰🎉 Lovely name, and assuming at that weight he’s got some cute baby podge?!

@Ready2020, sorry things didn’t progress as you’d like, definitely take advantage of breastfeeeding support and and post birth de-brief/ reflection opportunities.

PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 19:43

Thank you @Ava50x!

@WinterBabyof89 I bought the Haakaa, but haven't used it yet. I just hand expressed into a BF cup and then transferred into a sterilised pot with a lid on it. DH will use it tomorrow to feed DS when I'm out. It looks like I will be using my Haakaa very soon though, I have plenty of milk which is amazing! I agree, it's crazy what our bodies can do!

@Ready2020 It sounds like you'll start feeling better once your iron levels are better, it's so important. You need to ask your MW for support with BF asap or call the hospital to arrange a visit from BF support team if they have one. There are lots of online resources you should be able to use to help you in the meantime. Have you been given your postnatal notes? I have lots of info about latching and generally BF there.

Yes, newborns are pretty clingy. Our NCT explained it really well actually, they're suddenly out in an unfamiliar environment with no food ready offered to them like in the womb, surrounded by sensory overload. So they need parents' support and comfort more than ever.

@HopefulB Sorry to hear your ECV didn't work. How are you feeling about the planned section? xx

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 20:02

congratulations @Daffodil21
@Ready2020 sorry to hear labour didn’t go well for you, hope it’s all upwards from here x Rowan is a beautiful name

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 20:05

currently sitting in triage for reduced movements as well. I’ve been stupidly mistaking the tightenings for movements and only realised a short while ago they’re not the same thing

Hit my foot on a metal pipe by accident on the way in so I’m bleeding into my sandals & the receptionists say they can’t even give me a plaster 🤷🏻‍♀️

Inmypjsagain · 09/08/2021 20:06

@PurplePansy05 the milk leakage is wild isn’t it! I was like 😱 in the shower 😂

@Ready2020 sorry that it wasn’t what you hoped. Your body has done something so amazing and now itll need time to heal. Please utilise all the support you can, worth asking the midwives at the hospital and certainly mention it before discharge to see if there’s someone you can speak with. In the meantime, Enjoy cuddles with Rowan (love the name 💖)

@Daffodil21 Aw congratulations!!!! So very pleased for you! Great name, enjoy your cuddles. Hope you have a good first night and enjoy the hospital drugs! 👶🏼

@Whatshouldbemyusername oooh exciting re the music plug but the reduced movements is stressful, I think it’s standard for 3 visits after 28 weeks to offer an induction, worth discussing with them anyway and then see how it goes? Bet you can’t
Wait for baby to come!

@HopefulB ah shame it didn’t work, as purplepansy asks, how do you feel about a section? I know it was my preference but I’m still so pleased I went for a c section, the whole process has been better than I thought. If you have any other questions please let us know x

Inmypjsagain · 09/08/2021 20:07

@Aaaaa1519 why can’t they give you a plaster?! Seems a bit ott! Sorry you’re in for reduced movements too, hope the ctg will give you some comfort that all is ok.

PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 20:23

The leakage is such a strange thing!

And 100% second @Inmypjsagain, ELCS was a really positive experience and I wish there was a very clear distinction between that and EMCS when you read up on birth options in advance or discuss them, but it's wrongly blended into one, particularly when it comes to healing and recovery. It's just not the case IRL.

@Whatshouldbemyusername Honestly, lovely, if they say earlier induction is best, they know what they're doing. A repeat pattern of reduced movements at your stage is a worry in itself and they'll recommend the safest delivery option. Remember I had a similar situation at 37 weeks and they were considering bringing my c-section forward and would have kept me in hospital until the delivery if I had the third episode? I narrowly avoided that because the third occasion didn't happen. I know it's stressful, but I would trust their professional judgment. xx

HopefulB · 09/08/2021 20:30

@Inmypjsagain & @PurplePansy05, thanks ladies, I think it’ll be nice to have a date. I’ve always felt fairly pragmatic about birth, in that I wanted the minimum interventions necessary, but have had a pretty open mind around what mode that would be. I’m much happier with the idea of a planned section than emergency.

I’m sure I’ll have some dumb questions in the next few days for now I’m just relaxing, and reminding myself that the tenderness from the procedure is likely nothing compared to section recovery.

HopefulB · 09/08/2021 20:33

Fingers crossed for you and your babies @Whatshouldbemyusername and @Aaaaa1519.

Agree with pansy - if the team are recommending induction, think carefully. Remember the BRAIN acronym, make sure you understand what the benefits are and what the risk is if you choose not to have an induction.

lucyrp · 09/08/2021 20:34

@Whatshouldbemyusername I've been told the same thing I.e reduced movements to an extent. If I have a second episode of reduced movement I have to give birth in the hospital labour ward as opposed to our local midwife unit x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 09/08/2021 20:37

@Inmypjsagain @PurplePansy05 thanks. Yes no ofcourse I trust them but the scans showed ok. Spoke to doctor, she was lovely. I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow anyways so she's booked me in for a ctg and see if I can also get a growth scan done tomorrow. Once that is done then we can discuss further what the plan is. End of the day yes I do want baby to be here all healthy but I just don't want to get an induction unless there's a medical emergency x

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 20:46

they’ve checked the heartbeat and it seems to be ok, haven’t had movements checked yet as it’s so busy here today
I don’t think they’ll recommend an induction even though im 39+3 but I’m only guessing that because 4 women have come in the last 10 mins in labour already. I could be wrong though
@Whatshouldbemyusername glad your baby is ok x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 09/08/2021 20:53

@lucyrp yes that's what they said that I may have to give birth in the labour ward x

@Aaaaa1519 glad baby's heart rate is ok. Keep us posted x

sarah13xx · 09/08/2021 20:55

@Daffodil21 huge congrats! 💙

Little Freddie arrived at 2:28pm ☺️ What a truly lovely experience from start to finish. The anesthetist couldn’t have been nicer and really took his time. He even put local in my hand first so I barely felt the cannula. From the curtain going up I saw my baby in under 2 minutes!! It was completely surreal but amazing ❤️ I would do it all again tomorrow. Thanks so much for everyone’s messages xx

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 20:59

congratulations @sarah13xx so pleased for you. It’s so nice that everyone’s c-sections are such a positive experience when you’re just so used to hearing the opposite from EMCS

PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 21:16

Ready2020 · 09/08/2021 21:25

Thanks everyone. I'll message again later. The hormones have hit and I'm crying at everything plus I think it's going to be a long night as baby has been kinda sick today. New milk a bit rich for her I think.

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 21:47

I’ve been sitting here counting all the new babies to pass time 3 boys 1 set of twins boy and girl and a little girl. It is insanely busy tonight and the craziest thing is we witnessed a live birth. Poor lady had her baby in the waiting area, rest of us ladies waiting have been stunned into silence.
I wasn’t nervous about the birth but I’m shitting it now!!

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 21:51

@Ready2020 take all the time you need and utilise any help that you have available. I can’t stress how important sleep is for you at this time so if your DH can take over for a bit and let you rest you’ll feel so much better.
Hope tomorrow is better for you and baby is more settled x

sarah13xx · 09/08/2021 22:00

@Aaaaa1519 whaaat?! That must have been crazy. Poor lady 🙈

BertieBotts · 09/08/2021 22:09

Whaat? She had her baby in the waiting area? The poor woman! Was her labour really quick?

Love all the new baby news today! So exciting :o

Sarah I'm so glad you had a positive experience.

Username defo keep up a discussion. Reduced movements is so subjective so it doesn't make sense to induce everyone after X number of incidents but good they are willing to discuss it. I think it's much more recognised these days that maternal instinct counts for something so do go with your gut. And medical advice of course but trust that feeling.

Ready do you know about squishing your boob kind of flat, like with two hands how you'd hold a hamburger? This can help get a really big latch. Ultimately though it can just take a bit of time and practice. You'll get there and there is NO such thing as too much lansinoh!

I didn't end up talking to DH about bedtime but DS2 woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn't get him down again and he offered to take over (and did) he was up much longer than I would have tried Blush but did get him back to sleep in bed. Tonight he fell asleep for me fairly quickly so it was no problem. But DH was telling him earlier that if he wanted to play in bed then he would come in when he was ready to go to sleep rather than me. We did a big bedtime walk to the park tonight which I think helped tire him out. It's such a big change from nursery and really full on stimulation every day to just being at home. We had gone into town and had lunch at pizza hut but I don't think it was that interesting for him.

I am contemplating asking for the first dose of the COVID vaccine tomorrow at my appointment if they will do it. I was planning just to wait until after the birth but had then suddenly thought if I don't get it until my 6 week check up and then need to wait another 6 weeks for the second - we're talking potentially 12/13/14 weeks until I'm fully vaccinated and then I need another 2 weeks' clearance after that and we want to travel home at Christmas, which is only 18 weeks away. Although actually now I think about it that does sound like enough time so possibly I'm being a bit over anxious :o I am a bit worried about side effects and potentially going into labour while having them as well I suppose. Well maybe I'll just ask my doctor what she thinks tomorrow.

Aaaaa1519 · 09/08/2021 22:21

She came in crying so I don’t know if her labour was really quick or if she left it too late to come in, the midwives called her in immediately but she started taking her clothes off and by the time we moved to give her privacy baby was out.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 09/08/2021 22:23

@Ready2020 it's going to get better. Definitely get some rest x

@Aaaaa1519 Oh My God that sounds surreal. That poor lady. Keeping everything crossed for you as well x

@BertieBotts exactly. I agree with you. Thank you for this! It's what I believe too x

@PurplePansy05 thanks for the updated list. 12 babies on the list already and am sure more to be added this week. Soo exciting x

PurplePansy05 · 09/08/2021 22:30

there is NO such thing as too much lansinoh!

Of all the many true things Bertie has spoken, this is the truest.
