I didn't do anything :o

Baby likes being stroked so DH spent some time stroking him to try and encourage him in the right direction. He and DS2 had this little song "turn around baby, turm around baby" and I went and stood in a lake which was nice as it took the pressure off.

But I don't know if he's really settled in this position anyway. It might be he's just still figuring out where to go. I'm a bit nervous I'll end up with an undiagnosed breech labour. Worst case scenario too late to do anything about it!

alittlexmasmagic · 27/07/2021 08:30

@wimbler wonderful news! Congratulations xx

Jessicapebbles · 27/07/2021 08:38

Congratulations @wimbler !! It’s so lovely now some babies are starting to arrive!!

Has anyone heard anything from Champson? I keep wondering how little Holly is doing.

X

Whatshouldbemyusername · 27/07/2021 08:41

Congratulations @wimbler and baby. Enjoy your cuddles super mummy x

Magik01 · 27/07/2021 09:50

@wimbler massive congratulations!! Glad to hear your both doing well! How exciting. Grin

@Jessicapebbles I often wonder about Champson too, I even searched her username the other day to see if she had posted recently anywhere, but she hadn’t. Sad

Smurf123 · 27/07/2021 09:59

Aww congratulations @wimbler hope you are both doing well!! 💕
Thank you all for your lovely messages we are doing well and just so glad to be home.
I can't remember who asked sorry! But dd was 6lb 14 when she was born!
The birth went pretty straightforward once we got started but I was pretty anxious due to a lot of reasons. Our hospital is struggling with staff shortages and Covid pressures which made a things before the induction got properly started a bit challenging and stressful but she is here now happy and healthy and that's all that matters! When I had staff they were lovely and the induction process I suppose officially started on Saturday morning and dd was born just before midnight.
I was on continuous monitoring as they thought there might be meconium in the waters from the scan which is apparently one of the other reasons they kept me in though no one told me that until the midwife who was with me on Saturday started and I have to say she was amazing! As it turned out the waters when broken they were clear but they continued monitoring throughout to be sure. It was fine, I could have walked a little or used a ball she said so not completely bed bound.
Someone asked about food and drink - I had an epidural and once it it in they said really it is just water or diluted juice to drink at that stage though they did offer me some plain biscuits in the middle if I needed them but tbh I wasn't particularly hungry or needing it dh might have been mind you 😂 the toast after was delicious!
Recovery wise has been grand, nothing paracetamol doesn't help. The hospital had given some witch hazel pads to use after the birth to cool and ease pain down there and I had to say they were great so I ordered some of them off Amazon and they are arriving today so I'd recommend some of them! Also definitely recommend taking a couple different sizes for baby in baby bag as I brought newborn and up to 1 month but Sophia is long (57cm) like her daddy and is too long for the newborn and just about in the up to 1 month baby grows!

BertieBotts · 27/07/2021 10:24

Aww Sophia is a lovely name 🥰 thanks for sharing birth story. I'm so into them at the moment.

I have been to my check up today and updated my normal doctor on all the drama! She was amused, said baby is still head down but not yet engaged. She was very reassuring about the prospect of going into labor and baby being in the wrong position, she said it's really quick to do a c section if needed and they wouldn't make me give birth normally if I didn't want to. She did say not to leave it until the last minute to go in. But she doesn't see a point in scheduling a c section since the baby could flip any way at any time.

Aaaaa1519 · 27/07/2021 10:26

congratulations @wimbler. Good to hear you’re both doing ok
@Smurf123 I’m glad things went well for you in the end. Loving baby’s name as well

I wonder who’s next lol

BertieBotts · 27/07/2021 10:26

I had the witch Hazel and calendula pads last time. You can make your own by spreading calendula and/or witch Hazel creams on a maternity pad and freezing it. Then move to fridge a few hours before using. It's amazing. I had a little mini fridge in my hospital room and they left a supply in there!

BertieBotts · 27/07/2021 10:26

Weleda do a great calendula cream which is a nappy changing one so you'll get loads of use of it.

Angelesque · 27/07/2021 10:31

Congrats @wimbler! Hooray for the babies arriving!! Making it easier to get through the last few weeks. 😊

I know a few people on here are based around Manchester… anyone planning to deliver at Wythenshawe?

lucyrp · 27/07/2021 10:49

@BertieBotts this isn't your first though is it ? My midwife said second and third babies don't tend to engage until just before

@wimbler congratulations 🥰🥰

Whatshouldbemyusername · 27/07/2021 11:03

Just had my growth scan at 36+2. Baby weighing at estimated 5 pound 6 ounces. They said it's growing in line with the previous scan from 4 weeks ago though. It's a small baby. Consultant said it's probably following my body type abs not husbands. He's 5"11 and I'm 5'2".

Anyways she said baby is healthy so I shouldn't worry too much about size yet

PurplePansy05 · 27/07/2021 11:31

Lovely name @Smurf123! I'm so jealous you're home enjoying cuddles with baby Sophia, I just cannot wait now, single digits countdown 💙💙💙

I think @Jessicapebbles will likely be next unless we have some slightly earlier arrivals this week? 😊

And then next week it look like we'll be celebrating quite a few new babies 💖💙

I often think about Champson and Holly too. I wish with all my heart everything is well with them. xx

Jessicapebbles · 27/07/2021 12:01

@Smurf123 What a beautiful name!! Thank you for sharing your story! I do often wish I would be able to have my own natural birth story but I will have my own section story to tell I’m sure!

I hope so @PurplePansy05!! We’re still on for Friday! I think we might be able to squeeze one more baby in before me though, any takers? Haha! Xx

BertieBotts · 27/07/2021 12:17

Yes that's right Lucy. DS2 was engaged a couple of weeks early but this one doesn't seem to be! They said at the hospital most third babies often don't even engage until labour itself so I might just be waiting.

Inmypjsagain · 27/07/2021 12:29

@wimbler congratulations and welcome baby boy! Hope you’re enjoying all the cuddles 🥰 (does this still fit the theory girls are breech and boys aren’t?!)

@Smurf123 thank you for sharing and lots of hugs to little Sophia! 🧡

I recently searched Champson too, often think of her and Holly. I think there was another poster on here that knew her irl and often wonder if they know how things are (I understand they wouldn’t be able to say though).

Well I definitely don’t want to be next, want baby to hold tight! After continuously calling the antenatal ward to try and get an appointment to see the obstetrician before Friday I finally got a cancellation… for today! So we’re just about to go to the hospital and I am keeping my fingers crossed there’s availability before 40 weeks!!!!!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 27/07/2021 12:31

@Smurf123 what a beautiful story and gorgeous name! Thank you for sharing this with us x

lucyrp · 27/07/2021 13:11

@BertieBotts yeah mine is just head down but she said not to worry as its my second

Anyone else super emotional ?? Have cried twice today at the hands of customers and I can't take anymore. I'm so exhausted too my face is half asleep 😫

wimbler · 27/07/2021 13:27

Thanks for all the lovely wishes! My waters went on their own just before I was due to have the balloon out. At that stage I wasn’t really having contractions. He was then here 2hr 40 later with paracetamol/coedine & gas and air and weighing a whopping 8lb14. His sister was 6lb10 so we couldn’t believe it when they weighed him! It seems I inherited my mothers and grandmothers quick labours!

quietlyspoken08 · 27/07/2021 13:41

Have just found this thread at 37+3. Congratulations to you all who have had your beautiful babies!

I am just wondering if anyone else has similar symptoms or had them before going into labour? I woke 2 nights ago with terrible sickness and diarrhoea (tmi apologies). I've been sick alll the way through so just presumed it was normal. Then started losing small bits of plug. It's defo plug but wasn't a huge clump but coming out in bits.

Since then I have had sickness persistently but woke up today feeling like I was getting flu. Night sweats all night, shivering and chills and can't keep anything down. Have also had insomnia and a complete lack of appetite.

Can't get through to midwife Hmm but feel like these could just be home run symptoms and nothing to panic about?

Anyone else had the same thing?

sarah13xx · 27/07/2021 14:00

Sorry I’m late to the party 🙈🥳

congrats to those who have had babies arriving already! I’m almost 38 weeks. Have a section booked for 9th august.. any other c-sections the first week or two? Midwife said baby’s head is down but not engaged so I’m hoping he stays where he is until then 🙈

Ava50x · 27/07/2021 14:38

@sarah13xx @quietlyspoken08 welcome! You've joined just in time for the home stretch now!

@wimbler huge congratulations! You are an absolute rockstar supermum! Well done:)

@Smurf123 thanks for sharing your story. Jealous of your newborn cuddles!

I think i've lost it now with ninth month niggles. Can't sleep. Can't walk. Terrible lightning crotch pain (i'm assuming that's what it is, i've never had this before) and kids are home now and driving me crazy with their bickering... I can't do this for another 4-6 weeks! We had a lovely trip to the beach yesterday which the kids definitely loved but i'm so knackered from it all...

At least the babies are all arriving now- makes it all seem so much more real!

WolfMother326 · 27/07/2021 14:58

Congratulations both @wimbler and @Smurf123 - so exciting!
And good luck @Jessicapebbles

I'm with you @Ava50x - feeling so deeply uncomfortable and I'm just 37 weeks today....

Jessicapebbles · 27/07/2021 15:02

I just had my final growth scan before my c section on Friday, baby girl has a little head bless her however her legs are measuring 42 weeks haha and she’s overall about 6.7lb! Bigger than my first daughter so I’m happy!
