Just reached ward so will try and rest a little. I've got my kindle which I brought for the waiting room so at least that's something .
Now sporting a very stylish Hmm set of red stockings
My pulse is still high so going to try and relax to reduce it if possible

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 03:13

Anyone still awake ? Just had a nightmare about baby not being able to breathe properly and woke up to baby hiccups again, it's the same time it happened last night roughly and was for ages again... ☹️

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 03:17

Currently sat on the toilet in tears trying to decide if I'm being stupid or not worrying about it

Smurf123 · 22/07/2021 03:26

Hi @lucyrp it's probably nothing but can you phone and ask advice or go in ? Just to reassure yourself? Hope your ok

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 03:33

@Smurf123 yeah I had the scan today and everything seemed great but it's happened twice now last night and tonight at around half 2 in the morning and they last for 20 minutes and it's when I'm on my right side, that combined with me waking up from a nightmare about baby's heart rate has made me upset. I know it can be w sign of cord compression but would thag show up on a scan ???

Hope you're okay too I've just read back through your messages, What a shock that you'll be meeting baby soon and good luck 🥰 hope it's a quick induction for you and it all goes well x

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 03:34

I just rang the operator and he seemed less than impressed and was like "so what are you ringing for reduced movements or increased movements?" And I was like well a change in movements ... and he goes "right ok. Well il get a midwife to call you back" hmm

Smurf123 · 22/07/2021 03:47

Thanks @lucyrp I'm ok anxious but I think that's par for the course really.

Your right to phone, it's probably just coincidence and nothing to worry about but still better to let them know and see what they think.
Is baby moving about also? I'm not sure about whether they can see it on screen I would imagine it depends on your hospital machine.. I think @BertieBotts said her scans could pick up cord etc I'm fairly sure mine just sees blood flow through it. Maybe try lying on your left side for a bit while you wait on them calling you back ?

Whatshouldbemyusername · 22/07/2021 05:54

Morning ladies

@Smurf123 how are you my love? Any news. It's definitely exciting but can be overwhelming at the same time. All the best my love.

@lucyrp bless you. How are you feeling now? I know pregnancy can give you vivid dreams but yes it's best to get it checked if you're concerned.

Not sure who asked about sleep but I'm definitely struggling with sleep. My hips and knees were hurting all night and just couldn't get comfortable. I'm wide awake and not working today so just going to lie in bed for another hour or so

PurplePansy05 · 22/07/2021 06:03

Oh @Smurf123! Blimey I'm just catching up here! I don't wanna tag you again in case you want to be left in peace now (which is completely understandable!) but just to calm your nerves, if your DH is anything like mine re bringing in what you need, here's what I'd do:
-> quickly put together a list on your phone now you have enough battery and send to him IF he knows where stuff is
-> if he doesn't know where stuff is, would anyone else know? Send the list to them now and tell him to get them in
-> if the two options above won't work then get shit ordered from Amazon Prime to be delivered asap to your house.

I've ordered all the small useful things through Prime, all arrived through the letterbox the following day. Not worth you stressing out and explaining to DH if he's gonna struggle, just spend that £20 or whatever and relax!

I hope all is gonna go well for you, let us know how you both are doing as and when you feel like it. Good luck!!! Flowers xx

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 06:25

@Smurf123 in the end it was my midwife who rang back and said it should be nothing to worry about but to keep an eye on movements today and if there's any reduction in them today to ring back and they'll get me in but it's unlikely anything is wrong as Everutning was fine on the scan. I was too scared to lie on my right again so spent the rest of the night on my left trying to sleep. Hope you're getting on okay x

@Whatshouldbemyusername yeah I'm okay now just keeping an eye for movements today and hopefully everything will be okay. Haven't had a vivid dream since a few weeks ago so was a bit of a shock. I have a day off today too but promised 6 year old DS we would go swimming as I can't see me managing that any other time during the summer holidays as hopefully baby will be here x

biscuitcat · 22/07/2021 07:12

Oh goodness Smurf! Not tagging you as @PurplePansy05 says - because I imagine you might be otherwise occupied! That must have come as such a shock to you, but very exciting nonetheless - hope everything is going smoothly 🥰xx

@lucyrp that sounds stressful, I'm glad the midwife said to keep an eye and come in if needed. Pregnancy dreams can be so vivid can't they - scary how realistic they can be.

Daffodil21 · 22/07/2021 07:38

@Smurf123 how utterly terrifying but exciting!! As Bertie said - if it was urgent it would be a CS. Try not to worry about your little one at home - he'll have your partner with him, he'll be ok.

I honestly can't believe they told you to put on loud music and dance?!! I'm certainly no expert but that sounds like very poor advice to me!

Keep us posted when you can, but rest up and focus on yourself and the baby ❤️ we're all thinking of you! X

lucyrp I asked my doctor about hiccups, because DS2 got hiccups loads and when he was born he had to go to special care for oxygen for about 24 hours due to excess fluid in the lungs, and at the time someone in special care said it might have been too many hiccups in the womb. I never felt that was quite right, but it made me feel so anxious about hiccups this time. So of course I googled it and it came up with this cord compression thing (but also some articles saying that was disproven). I wondered whether maybe I'd been told with DS1 (in 2008) that hiccups were fine, and assumed that was still valid for DS2 (2018) but it was actually outdated and I should have been doing something about it!

So I asked her. She laughed (in a nice way) and said no, absolutely not, there is no such thing as too many hiccups, hiccups are really really good, because they mean that the baby is practising the difference between breathing and swallowing. She also said you can't do anything about it anyway, and we wouldn't want to stop them or be alarmed. When I said I had found something worrying on google she said don't worry - everything is worrying on google and most of it is total nonsense.

PurplePansy05 · 22/07/2021 07:59

My baby boy is now having hiccups...it must be half an hour by now, my whole left side is jiggling 😂 Bless. Looks like it's contagious, haha! xx

alittlexmasmagic · 22/07/2021 08:48

Morning everyone.
Got my consultant review today just shy of 36 weeks. Baby was head down but I'm suspecting they're transverse today because of hiccups/kicks locations.
We shall see x

Magik01 · 22/07/2021 08:57

Oh ladies it seems we have all had a night of it! I was awake at half 1 just sweating! Had to put the fan on but then I really struggle to sleep with any noise.

@Smurf123 I hope you are okay! On the plus side at least something is being done and you haven’t been fobbed off like before, hopefully it won’t be long until your baby is here!

@lucyrp hope your also feeling okay! Glad your midwife rang you back and was more reassuring than the guy on the phone!

wimbler · 22/07/2021 09:06

Good luck smurf!! What an evening you had. Hope induction goes well and you have your baby in your arms soon.

@lucyrp hiccups can be scary but as Bertie says they shouldn’t be anything to worry about. Not that you should have been spoken to like that though. My daughter used to get them about 5 times a day and the midwife was always reassuring about them

Jessicapebbles · 22/07/2021 09:09

@Smurf123 How exciting!! Really hope you’re doing ok! We’re all thinking of you. Xx

notinthestarsigns · 22/07/2021 09:15

@Smurf123 hope everything goes ok!

@lucyrp hope you are ok, I get quite a lot of vivid dreams and they are horrible, hopefully baby reassures you with plenty of movements today.

@alittlexmasmagic hope everything goes ok today and that you get seen quickly. I had to wait over 2 hours in very hot waiting room to see consultant yesterday, it was awful!

Dia12 · 22/07/2021 10:10

Hi ladies! I haven't been on MN for such a long time, I've thought of the group often and hope you've all been well. Good luck with induction @Smurf123, hope it's as short and easy for you x

I was overwhelmed by all the prep of nursery, baby shopping and researching all the options - we really had left it too long and it really stressed me out. DH has had so much on his plate with work. It's been a tough couple of months.

I'm 37+4 now and finally things have calmed down and my hospital bag is ready 🎉
I had a sweep on Monday (ouch!) and another one today. As I'm 40, they would like me to deliver anytime after 39w so they are hoping biweekly sweeps might help kick start things.

@PurplePansy05 it's nice to see you here and that things have progressed well for you. ☺️

lucyrp · 22/07/2021 12:14

@biscuitcat I've managed to escape the vivid dreams the last couple of weeks so it really shook me having one last night, it was a bit weird to do with the baby's heartbeat not measuring what it should or something then I woke up to those hiccups and panicked ☹️

@BertieBotts yeah I know it was being Silly but I proper panicked 🙈

@Magik01 felt a bit ridiculous when I was speaking to that man 🤔

@wimbler ive noticed them throughout the pregnancy but these just seemed different and a little odd that they happened two days in a row and it was for like 20-25 minutes 😬

@notinthestarsigns they have been moving today x

alittlexmasmagic · 22/07/2021 13:02

Eeeek!! ELCS set for 27th Aug at 40+5 in the hope that baby will arrive spontaneously prior to that. Sweep allowed at 39 weeks. Got a quick peek at baby too on portable scanner.
Swabs done & pre-op booked. All seems a bit real but I'm glad there's a plan in place x

Magik01 · 22/07/2021 14:28

Ladies is this not the cutest thing you ever did see! Probably totally uncessary but I couldn’t resist!

Due August 2021 - the final countdown!
lucyrp · 22/07/2021 15:08

Just been swimming and baby absolutely loved it. Wouldn't stop moving the whole time, could feel their little hands poking out of my belly🥰🥰

@Magik01 defo not unnecessary! Those rompers will be what my baby will be living in if it's still hot weather like this when they're born !

Daffodil21 · 22/07/2021 15:11

@lucyrp aww lovely! Mine's the opposite! Seems to send him to sleep!
