Labour of under an hour sounds amaaaazing. A friend recently had an 80 hour labour. This is the great fear that’s driving me to have ELCS.

Daffodil21 · 19/07/2021 20:04

@RandomCatGenerator it does if the hospital is under an hour away! 🙈

I have no idea how long my labour was with DS, or what stages etc. My waters broke the Wednesday evening then nothing happened all day Thursday and I went in Friday morning to hospital to be induced and was having contractions every 5 minutes, by 7pm that evening I was in the delivery suite then he was born at 1:26/1:27am. By my memory that's pretty quick and the MW said the second stage of labour is quicker with your second baby 😳

alittlexmasmagic · 19/07/2021 20:20

@WolfMother326 I'm back to back too. MW suggested using a yoga ball to help encourage baby to turn. I hate using those balls as they make my sore back worse.
I've seen the following on NCT which suggests most will turn in labour if they haven't already x

BertieBotts · 19/07/2021 20:25

I did loads of research about back to back labour and what helps which I posted earlier in the thread. I have 100 posts per page and it's on page 2 for me so somewhere between post 101-200.

Which may be irrelevant now :o

Oh I've got all overwhelmed with all the options. Also DS2's kindergarten had a case of hand foot and mouth so they've advised me to keep him at home. I am going to see if I can get a phone appointment to speak to my doctor about (everything) tomorrow, or Wednesday if she can fit me in then. But I also might need to take DS1 to his doctor to get a tick bite looked at. Argh why does everything happen at once?!

And DH wants me to ring the hospital back and ask to book a c-section anyway for somewhere in week 38 and I don't want to try and demand/convince people of things like that. I just want to take it one step at a time, do the ECV (I think I'm going to go for it) and then go from there. I don't want to phone them up and make it complicated.

Jessicapebbles · 19/07/2021 20:41

Hi ladies!

I am once again completely behind on the thread (by about 15 pages 😂🤦🏻‍♀️) so I hope you’re all ok?!

I just nipped on to say I am VERY excited to be able to say I will officially have had a baby next week! Really struggling now with swelling and the wonderful heatwave. Spent my evening with my feet in a very cold bath of water and then me and my 2 year old sat with our feet elevated whilst Daddy did all the jobs haha!

PurplePansy05 · 19/07/2021 20:44

Ladies I'm sat in my new £20 bargain glider, LOVING it Grin How did I think a comfy chair wasn't needed?! I'm never selling it, it's the comfiest thing ever and the only one that helps my hip. I don't think I'll ever get up 😂 xx

RandomCatGenerator · 19/07/2021 20:45

@PurplePansy05 ooh link please?

PurplePansy05 · 19/07/2021 20:47

Oh wow @Jessicapebbles, next week!!! That's madness! I can't believe after nearly 9 months of chatting the babies are actually coming now, just around the corner! How very exciting for you! 🤗🥳 xx

PurplePansy05 · 19/07/2021 20:51

@RandomCatGenerator It was from Fb Marketplace, I mentioned up the thread and the girls responded recommending a glider and indeed, it's fabulous!

It looks like this one: www.amazon.co.uk/Nursing-maternity-rocking-footstool-Natural/dp/B004OW2KHG?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

although mine is more beige than cream. I can't get over the price, it came with a footstool too! 😊👌 Keep an eye online, I can confirm they are super comfy xx

RandomCatGenerator · 19/07/2021 20:58

Looks lovely!

BertieBotts · 19/07/2021 21:17

YY the pushing stage is faster and so is the early stage - the early stages roughly halve every time I think.

Pushing stage tends to be longer with first baby and then really fast with subsequent ones but not in a bad way at all!

BertieBotts · 19/07/2021 21:19

Aah nice!

Those gliders do come up on Marketplace fairly regularly so if you can fit one in your car you're winning!

lucyrp · 19/07/2021 21:21

@BertieBotts omg not ready for that 🙈😂

biscuitcat · 19/07/2021 21:33

@PurplePansy05 that's such a bargain!! I went for a normal armchair rather than a glider as I wanted one I could put elsewhere in the house in the future - and oh my goodness it's so comfy too 😍 but no gliding motion, which I bet will come in so handy

@Jessicapebbles ahhh congratulations!!! How exciting for you!

I had my last trip 'out' for work today - so now working from home for 2.5 days, work picnic afternoon, then finally mat leave! This heat is just killing me, and baby brain is in full force - I was sitting working today being so unproductive because all I was thinking was how hot I was, DH asked why I didn't get the fan from our room and it just hadn't occurred to me 😓 he got it down and that was a huge help - and have my hot water bottle in the freezer ready for bed time.

My sister's flight for moving to Aus has moved back to one day after my due date - very determined to try and evict baby before then now! 46% chance according to Bertie's labour predictor... My other sister asked if I'd considered an ELCS to ensure they arrive on time 😂 didn't seem like quite a good enough reason...

Daffodil21 · 19/07/2021 21:34

@Jessicapebbles how exciting!!!

Jessicapebbles · 19/07/2021 21:36

@biscuitcat @Daffodil21 @PurplePansy05 Thank you all so much! We’re so excited now, we are clueless as to what we’re going to call her.

I can’t wait to start seeing everyone’s baby arrival posts - my neighbour has just had her baby girl and every time I hear her my heart just melts!

wimbler · 19/07/2021 22:15

@Jessicapebbles so exciting!! If I was having a repeat ELCS I would be having my baby this week! Still want to try for a vbac but I must say the prospect of no longer being pregnant would be quite appealing right now 😂 I’m actually surprised there haven’t been any more early babies yet, everyday i half expect one to arrive!!

lucyrp · 19/07/2021 23:01

Omg so OH and I just had sex and there was a lot of liquid from me so to say and unsure if I've just squirted lots or my waters have gone 😳🤣

Aaaaa1519 · 20/07/2021 00:21

@PurplePansy05 ooh that is the exact same chair i wanted DH went out alone and came back with an armchair instead that doesn’t recline but on the plus side has a built in massager and is very comfy so can’t complain

@Jessicapebbles how exciting!! possibly the first baby in this group 🥺

@lucyrp that made me 😂

Aaaaa1519 · 20/07/2021 00:25

So I’ve heard that you can have the coil put in by midwives as soon as you’ve given birth I’m going to ask about it at next appt but anyone had any experience?

I was on the pill after Dd and it wasn’t for me the mood swings were terrible esp combined with postpartum rage

BertieBotts · 20/07/2021 01:04

Lucy :o

If it's your waters it will keep going... IME!

I'm getting very tearful and emotional thinking about things now. I'm sure just normal end of pregnancy stuff, but big news today as well. Lying awake as baby's movements obviously feel extremely different all of a sudden and it's so weird! Getting lots of strong kicks directly to the bladder and the inside of my back which is strangely painful? It's good that he's active but I have to admit part of me is thinking 3 more weeks of this?! I suppose at least if I do have a section it puts an end date on things.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 20/07/2021 04:18

Am currently at the triage for not feeling movement ....

Hope everyone is ok x

PurplePansy05 · 20/07/2021 06:05

@Whatshouldbemyusername how are you doing? Let us know when you can xx

@Aaaaa1519 I was looking at them online thinking £200 and they don't look all that attractive 😂 But once I saw it IRL and tried it out, I've totally changed my mind. Glad you've ended up with a comfy one too, ultimately that's the most important!

@biscuitcat My initial thought was to perhaps get an armchair, but those that I liked were £600 and all I could see was baby sick and snot all over 😂 Plus didn't want to order online without trying first. Comfort means sooo much to me all of a sudden 😂

@lucyrp Well, whatever that was, happy squirting, I guess 😂😂😂 I truly admire you've managed sex now and in this temp too! I couldn't be f*cked, excuse the pun 😂😂😂

My ASOS dresses have arrived and I'm keeping some, but some are truly hideous. I really don't know where to shop post-pandemic anymore. Might have a look at Zalando now. Also is anyone else struggling with sizing, I've ordered from Asos in my usual size 12, mix of maternity and non-maternity and they're all bigger than I thought? xx

lucyrp · 20/07/2021 06:15

@BertieBotts yeah that's what I thought, it was just the initial gush I thought oh dear I shouldn't be doing this at this point as I don't want to start something off right now 🤣

@PurplePansy05 well we've been struggling to even touch each other the last few weeks as it's so hot, normally we're pretty cuddly but the thought of peeling ourselves off each other hasn't been the best 🤣 I had already gone to bed after w cold shower and OH came up a bit later on and started cuddling and kissing and then it lead to that 😂 the other day is was so uncomfortable I'm sure the baby's head was like right down in the way as it was horrible 🙈😳
