@Whatshouldbemyusername hope you and baby are okay xx

PurplePansy05 · 20/07/2021 06:20

@lucyrp Do I remember right you were saying you'd like things to get a move on in week 38? Maybe more of this in the next 1.5 weeks then, you know what they say, oxytocin is important and all that 😂👌 xx

lucyrp · 20/07/2021 06:24

@PurplePansy05 yeah preferably id quite like them to come in week 38 similar time to what DS did but we all know they come when they want to but I can try can't I 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 I started raspberry leaf tea yesterday but only one cup a day and it's actually out of date stuff I had for inducing labour with DS the BBE is dec 2017 so unsure if it still has the properties I need in it🤔 100% oxytocin and I'm all for nipple stimulation in sex so will be pushing for that too 🤣xx

Smurf123 · 20/07/2021 07:10

@Whatshouldbemyusername hope all is ok!

biscuitcat · 20/07/2021 07:12

@Whatshouldbemyusername hope you're OK lovely xxx

@lucyrp well done you for managing sex 😂 we've been pretty regular for the whole pregnancy but the past couple of weeks there's really nothing I want to do less!!

Has anyone's sleep taken a sudden turn for the worse? Mine has been pretty OK mostly but since about a week ago it's just awful, up every hour/hour and a half to pee and I'm getting grouchy about it!

Daffodil21 · 20/07/2021 08:45

@Whatshouldbemyusername how are you today? Hope all ok x

I couldn't sleep last night but the baby being breech has totally changed the way that movements feel and it's weird - I'm not used to it!

A friend recently had an 80 hour labour.

This sounds alarming, but normally when labour is that long, what happens is that the person has a really extended latent stage, aka "prodromal labour" or early labour. That can be absolutely exhausting don't get me wrong. But it won't have been 80 hours of intense pain or anything like that. Most likely several days of intermittent contractions which just make you really grumpy and can stop you sleeping. Then it will be the last 12 hours or less where things really ramp up and get moving. If this does happen you can always go and speak to the hospital, and they can give you something - either pain relief so you can get some rest, or start induction techniques to bring labour on a bit faster/more strongly. They will probably try to fob you off/send you home but if you are very insistent you might get what you want!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 20/07/2021 09:25

Hi ladies.

@PurplePansy05 @lucyrp @Smurf123 @biscuitcat @Daffodil21 xx

Baby is fine. After I posted, the baby started kicking up a storm whilst I waited to be hooked up!

They still put me on the machine and all is well. Baby was kicking really hard. Baby moving now as I type this. Typical 🤣🤣

My Mat leave doesn't begin till 9th august and I have annual leave from 1st august for a week. Thinking of bringing both ahead by a week. This is abit stressful and now Ive called in sick at work.

wimbler · 20/07/2021 11:15

I really feel for you ladies still working. I can’t imagine although looking after my toddler is far harder than sitting at my desk all day! We have moved in with my parents now so we are getting lots of extra help which is so great. I’m barely having to cook or clean which is amazing.

My sleep is terrible. It’s so hot and my parents live in the countryside so we get woken by the loudest birds from 4am everyday. It feels like I toss and turn all night and never really go into a deep sleep. I’m actually looking forward to having a newborn as although the sleep is so broken, at least I won’t have a problem falling asleep 😂 (I know I’ll be eating my words in a few weeks though😂)

BertieBotts · 20/07/2021 11:31

I was feeling calmer having made some phone calls/sent an email asking questions to the hospital but they have just replied and told me that we can discuss all of this at my appointment on Monday. I have just lost it now. Don't they get how difficult it is to be pregnant and have all of these questions and having people just tell you to wait? Monday might as well be a million years away. I know none of it seems urgent, but it feels urgent to me.

Magik01 · 20/07/2021 11:41

@Whatshouldbemyusername glad baby is okay! It’s typical that they move as soon as we get to the hospital 😂 bit better safe than sorry! Also I would double check but your mat least may have to start early if you ring in sick with a pregnancy related reason from 36 weeks. Might be worth a check.

PurplePansy05 · 20/07/2021 11:52

@Magik01 is right, it will likely kick in automatically from 36 weeks onwards if it's a pregnancy related illness. I'm so glad all is well @Whatshouldbemyusername 😘

@BertieBotts I get it, completely. Monday seems like a million miles away. My NCT friend is waiting till past 37 weeks for details of her planned section, I'd go through the roof personally. Just too long!

I kind of want to sleep through the next fortnight tbh, but alas my sleep is also shit! Can't win. Hot, uncomfortable, in pain, I put the fan on in the night and now all day I'm paying the price for it with a horrible migraine. Honestly, not sure if I could feel more shit physically than I am right now! xx

PurplePansy05 · 20/07/2021 11:52

This maternity leave cannot come soon enough, it's my final week now...wish I was off so bad! xx

lucyrp · 20/07/2021 12:15

So I went for my 36 week appointment this morning and had my fundal measurement done and it was the same as at my 34 week appointment but if you remember my last appointment was with a different midwife to usual and I got sent for a growth scan because there was a leap in measurements but baby was measuring fine and I was told I didn't need any more growth scans because they were all good.. well because my measurement is the same as last time it looks oj my graph like the baby has stopped growing which is not the case as this measurements fits in perfectly with the pattern of my usual midwifes measurements but I now have to go for another growth scan tomorrow to check. Ugh

Whatshouldbemyusername · 20/07/2021 12:49

@PurplePansy05 and @Magik01 yes you're both absolutely right about Mat leave. I'm 35 weeks and 2 days today. So if I can get through this week - I've got Thursday booked as leave and next Monday booked as leave too. Then as of tomorrow I just have 6 more days of work left! Can't wait to get over and done. So much to do but at the same time too tired to care 🤣🤣x

@lucyrp keep us updated tomorrow about growth scan. I think the whole fundal measuring system is insane as different MW always get different measurements. X

I just got booked for an appointment at the birth centre at 38+2

Inmypjsagain · 20/07/2021 13:13

Hope everyone’s doing ok and managing in the heat!

@BertieBotts I 💯 get it, I’m finding everything atm we’ll discuss it at the next meeting! I hope you get someone to reply. Worth emailing again?

I’m hoping to have a planned section but my appointment to book it is 38 weeks + 3 days, there clearly won’t be availability to book a c section for 39 weeks then and chances are I’ll have to go to a different hospital for delivery. All because the birth options midwife didn’t call at the designated time because she was too busy catching up after being on annual leave- I had to chase for 3 days to get a call back even though she missed my appointment? I’ve been calling daily to try and get an appointment this week but there’s no availability whatsoever- because of covid they’re operating reduced appointments and the “drs get cross if we over book for the day” which is fair enough….anyway last 2 weeks I’ve been less than impressed.

Also if any of you can bring mat leave forward I would really recommend it. Third trimester was kicking my ass, the aching, the tiredness, now I’ve stopped working…. Im still tired and achey but it just feels more manageable. Probably because my only decision for the day is working mums or the vampire diaries on Netflix 😂 if I have a rubbish sleep (like last night) I can get into bed at 7 and sleep til 11 and not worry about it!

lucyrp · 20/07/2021 13:28

@Inmypjsagain omg I love working mums! Completed sex life in one day on my day off too 😂

@Whatshouldbemyusername I know it's ridiculous and obviously she and I both know baby is fine but have to go just for the paper work but when she said it shows the baby has stopped growing I was still a bit upset even though I know they haven't 🙈 they were head down and feeling great and we talked through my birth plan and I'm quite scared as she seems to think my labour will be super quick and pushing time maximum of 10 minutes 😳x

Smurf123 · 20/07/2021 13:36

Glad all is well @Whatshouldbemyusername
I had another appt today and was told at the last one that I would be going to this one for a scan , sweep and to book induction date. Different doctor and he refused to do a sweep saying not needed and that there's no issue surrounding this one despite the fact that I told him the movements are reduced. He just said well it seems fine on the monitor. I cried as I am really worrying about the change in movements and the fact that a previous consultant and midwife have both said I should be induced or have c-section booked before 39 weeks. The previous consultant had said we would talk about it closer to the time but she's off long term which was obviously very unexpected.
Eventually he told me to come back next week and if I insist then he will do a sweep then. I don't understand why such a big push about movements and changes and knowing the pattern if they then don't listen when it changes

Smurf123 · 20/07/2021 13:37

I'm really pleased to see that baby is growing and seems healthy and that's exactly what I want but I'm worried

BertieBotts · 20/07/2021 14:16

I'm just going to leave it. The thing that was stressing me is resolved with DH and it was just making me so confused so I've let it all go. I'm sitting with DS2 on the balcony playing with ice cubes I froze some of his little toys in for an activity and a cup of tea. Have stuck the baby car seat cover in for a wash and been researching monitors as ours is a bit broken. Found a lionelo one with 2 cameras at a good price so I'll probably get that rather than getting another audio only one and having to have two.

BertieBotts · 20/07/2021 14:17

Oh Smurf it's horrible when they don't listen! Can you get hold of your normal midwife and talk it through with her? Is she nice?

Whatshouldbemyusername · 20/07/2021 14:31

@lucyrp that's the quickest labour I've ever heard off! On the bright side atleast you don't have to wait at that point too long before you see your little cutie 🥰

I'm discussing my birth plan next Tuesday at my 36 week appointment with consultant x

PurplePansy05 · 20/07/2021 14:32

@Smurf123 I would request a second opinion asap. Don't let them ignore you, you know your body and your baby best and if you're concerned, you need to have a thorough check and with your history an induction is hardly a surprise, surely. You've gone through nearly 40 weeks of it to have a safely delivered baby, don't let anyone's attitudes compromise that. 💐 xx

@Inmypjsagain that's pretty rubbish! So did that birth choices MW eventually ring you but she didn't put you on the planned C-section path? How come you're not on it yet? xx

wimbler · 20/07/2021 14:51

@BertieBotts sorry you’re so frustrated. How many weeks will you be on Monday? If it makes you feel any better I got the call telling me to go in for my scan and ecv 2 hours before they wanted to do it and I was at work at the time. I then told them baby had flipped back once I was on the monitor after they had done it but they said I had to wait to confirm it until my scan 3 days later. My csection was organised when I was 37+4 and booked for 39 weeks exactly and I felt like I had plenty of time to prepare.

WolfMother326 · 20/07/2021 14:57

Thanks @alittlexmasmagic - good to know I'm not the only one and that NCT page is reassuring, hopefully our babies will move into the right position for the birth. I think the baby might have moved and is now facing backwards, but it's hard to tell. Strange how a foot and a bum feel pretty similar when they're pushing against you! I have a growth scan on Thursday so hoping to figure out what's up with his position. Yoga ball is a good idea.

Exciting stuff @Jessicapebbles!! I hope it all goes well. Which day is the section scheduled for?
