Not very original, but the thread WAS becoming ridiculously big.

POOR YOU MARCHMUM, oops cap lock. the shopping helps doesn't it. i got a couple of those very cheap nursing nighties.

imjin100 · 11/12/2007 09:47

marchmum - I think we need two prizes....one for the twin mummy who cooks for longest and one for the singletons who pops first...

hope you have a good day all. I did davina this morning which I really enjoyed. Had forgotten how good it was. hoping it helps (or at least doesn't hinder) my back.

hope everyone feeling a bit better, stronger, happier etc.

turtle23 · 11/12/2007 09:48

Preggers...legs crossed for you!
It's my birthday today and I am celebrating by buying a new bra so that I can breathe again. Actually DH has been a sweetie and got me a salon day yesterday so am super-chilled.
Am I the only one who is still thundering along at the same weight gain rate and boob growing extravaganza? 34B to 38D with every stop inbetween. This is my pennance for wishing for big boobs all my life, isn't it?
PS everybody Glam's birthday is on Thursday!

Happy Birthday Turtle!
This is my first time on this thread - baby due on March 2nd. Migrated over from AlphaMummy on the Times website.
Home from work today feeling very sorry for myself as have horrible sinusy cold, and everytime I sneeze or cough it hurts my bump, and makes the LO do a bit of a dance. To make things worse there are lots of max strength flu remedies lying around the house from when Bloke had man flu last week, just taunting me as I sip my lemon and hot water.

Going to make myself feel better by getting his credit card and doing some Christmas shopping...
x

HolidaysQueen · 11/12/2007 10:02

Morning all

Welcome Hayls - have you been freaking out reading the Alphamummy health visitor / midwife / childbirth horror stories like me?

Happy birthday turtle!

I'm happy to have a prize for first babies, so long as we can have one for the last too. I have visions of turtle, spugs, purly and I being the only people left on the Due March 2008 board hanging around and eating three tonnes of Easter eggs until mid April while you lot are over on the postnatal club boards from early march!

preggersagain · 11/12/2007 10:06

ahhhh, i am glowing with the happy feeling of organisation !

Nursery is totally ready (emergency call to the carpet fitter had him flying round after work to fit the new carpet in the room!!) nappies are washed, clothes are washed, ironed and hung ready to wear, bedding sorted, new mulberry bags packed and waiting for the off, car seats lined up in hallway and bases fitted!!!

so i am just waiting now! i've decided to spend the day researching digital photo frames and filling in the MA form- doesn't seem too bad- just a lot of it. I spoke to the jobcentre first thing about mat benefits when you're self employed- some info that someone else might find handy, if you are on a low income and recieve more than 545 quid of child tax credit (excluding childcare) then you may be entitled to the sure start mat grant (£500). I got all excited until i looked at my TC award form and saw that i get...... £545- sods law!!! oh well!

The girls are having their own little christmas party today i think- we've put the christmas music on at work and are def enjoying it

SpaceHopperHayls · 11/12/2007 10:07

Thanks.

Freaked out a little bit at first, but have decided to view the whole thing as the big adventure it is. I suppose anything worth having is worth suffering for. (Ask me the same question in three months though, and you might get a very different answer!)

SpaceHopperHayls · 11/12/2007 10:12

OMG, preggersagain - that is EXTREMELY organised. I haven't bought anything yet...are we being naive in thinking that we would wait to see what we were given at Christmas (first grandchild for both sets of parents, so they're all very excited and spending like lunatics) and then doing our own sorting out in January? After all, LO isn't due til March...

We've picked which room is going to eventuall be the nursery, which I thought was a good start.

preggersagain · 11/12/2007 10:13

Hayls- I don't really have a choice- i have a pair of little girls in here that are threatening to make an early arrival- impatient like their mum

e14mum · 11/12/2007 10:49

someone just asked me "WHEN are you due? You sure you've got room to grow until March?"

Although somehow bump is sitting out like a big bouncy ball today, so I guess it looks a bit strange!

Are Blooming Marvelous clothes nice? And do I really need nursing pjs? I never wear them normally- more of a vest and knickers type girl! Would a nursing vest do? I suppose I need something for the hospital and early visitors...

Happy happy birthday turtle! And welcome Hayls!

Preggers, I am well impressed, but that's all I'm going to say as our nursery is currently a workshop for DH's latest project (although there is a buggy, car seat, travel cot and can of paint in one corner!). That's it so far.

imjin100 · 11/12/2007 10:59

hello and welcome spacehopper. Don't be panicked by preggersagain - she is superdooper organised, not just cos she has to be but also because she's amazing and our guru. The rest of us (or is it just me) has nothing and intends to keep head firmly buried in the sand until january or february when i'll go on a spending spree.
Happy birthday turtle, have a lovely day. I shall have a biscuit in your honour.
talking of biscuits - are the rest of your really disciplined..if I eat one I have to have another and usually another - I just can't stop at one. has nothing to do with being pregnant but really annoys me that I have no self control.

tori32 · 11/12/2007 11:06

Happy Birthday Turtle

Well everyone, time is ticking on nicely here. I am off sick with dd so having a chilled day.
The GP I saw yesterday actually didn't realise I was pg which is quite worrying!

I have also been on the blower to the jobcentre plus for MA. I am really pleased that I can claim full rate as I earn over the £112 pw maximum rate. Also very chuffed its for 9mths yeah! Especially being self employed.

Hope you all have a lovely day.
Vicki

That is very organised preggers!

Luckily in the torihousehold we are operating a one in one out policy.

DD has just moved out of the nursery into a bed, so all new furniture has arrived. I just need a new mattress for the cot.. Thankfully no organisation required this time.

tori32 · 11/12/2007 11:13

ps. Wish me luck. I have to see the consultant to discussed the VBAC this PM. Also to speak to the aneasthetist about whether I imagined I could feel things or if the epidural had worn off on one side last time.
Thankfully he is apparantly pro vbac, so should be ok.

preggersagain · 11/12/2007 11:23

ok..... here's a word of advice........

If you do not fancy becoming bankrupt within 45 seconds DO NOT visit the blooming marvellous site- too many tempting bargains and lovely pjamas/ bras/ clothes arrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!

But seriously- they have some good deals atm- couldn't resist some new preg/feeding jammies, got to look my best for visitors !! not much in baby clothes sale, i would be an absolute nightmare at one of their shops

derah · 11/12/2007 12:59

Imjin - how can anyone possibly just have one biscuit? But seriously, I do have the same problem.... once I start on the sweet stuff I can't stop until a) it's all gone, b) I feel sick or c) I'm too full to stuff any more in. And it has nothing to do with being preggie, but at the moment I seem to be much worse than usual. I'm going to end up the size of a bus!

Welcome SpaceHopperHayls!

Happy Birthday Turtle!

DH is home with DD today, and doesn't seem to be coping well!! I don't usually work Tuesdays but I need to make up a day before we go on hols. Anyway, she was crying for Mummy all morning , which isn't like her, and both the dogs ran off when he took them out for a walk, so tempers were flaring... I got a seriously pissed off ranting phone call. But these things happen and the man needs to learn some patience! The dogs came home eventually, and DD had calmed down a bit. Last I heard he was taking her off to soft play, which should be good for both of them!!

surprisedandexcitedmum · 11/12/2007 13:17

I've been desperately trying to resist the mince pie that is on my desk, I think like the pastry my will power will crumble soon.

I'm half organised - does that count. I have nothing to go in my hospital bag because all those items are far too scary. The pram is paid for but, supersticiously, I have delayed delivery until begin of Feb.

I looked on the Blooming Marvelous site; am I the only one who wishes for mmore support in her nighties? My now cup runneth over at a G and i'd rather they didn't drop to my knees.

imjin100 · 11/12/2007 13:24

surprised and excited - firstly eat the mincepie....you know you want to (and it will make me feel better for eating too much)
secondly - i'm with you - well actually i'm bigger than you at 32JJ (didn't even know it existed previously) but anyway - I would also like something a bit cosier. Am not particularly worried about them hanging down as I'm in a bra at night anyway - are you managing not to wear one?

by the way i'm blushing - I've never told anyone what size bra I am (not even DH), can't believe i've just put it here for you all to see...

preggersagain · 11/12/2007 13:25

G well blimey, they sound impressive!- i'm proud of my DD's at the moment what about a sleep bra underneath- i have an emma jane crop top type of thing- it successfully protects my nipples from dh's wandering elbows! (he claims that nipple squashing is my own fault for putting them there )

SpaceHopperHayls · 11/12/2007 13:36

imjin, I'm jealous, they sound hugely impressive. I was chuffed when I reached a D cup (they were pretty little before, so this is a big change!) I'm not in a bra at night, do you think I should be?
surprised, eat the mince pie. I am about to go for a chocolate bar, and it will make me feel much better if I am not the only one eating innapropriate snacks!

merryberry · 11/12/2007 13:36

Gs and Js? Wow! I'm only a DD and always wear bras in bed when PG. None of those shelf support thingys make a blind bit of difference.

TURTLE! this is for you

HolidaysQueen · 11/12/2007 13:42

If you're shopping at Blooming Marvellous, don't forget to type in MNET in the special code section as mumsnetters get 10% off. I'm on there now and also bemoaning the lack of support in nighties. But then I don't wear anything in bed anyway so have to keep reminding myself that naked sleeping will probably not be appropriate in an NHS hospital and have no idea whether I'd prefer a nightie or pyjamas...

Having said I don't wear anything, I am at the moment wearing a sleep bra for my rather large H cups - M&S go up to a G cup in a soft bra so I just bought a bigger back size and it's actually really comfy for bed, and for when I'm just lazing around the house. I wear industrial scaffolding the rest of the time

ClaphamLauren · 11/12/2007 13:44

Hi All

Been a while since I've been around here - had a fall the other week so spent some time in hospital and just come back from a long weekend away in Spain, was lovely! Has anyone else flown recently? It was awful, wouldn't recommend it!

Bras at night... Is there a reason why we should?

surprisedandexcitedmum · 11/12/2007 14:02

I haven't yet started with a sleep bra but perhaps I ought to.

I have seen a supportive nightie but it was pricey. If I remember where it is I'll post it.

Okay, have dispatched boss to buy coffee (de-caf of course) so going to eat mince pie...

HolidaysQueen · 11/12/2007 14:04

Lauren - good to have you back - I was wondering where you were. You've got me worried about the flying though as I'm on a 5 hour flight in 2 weeks - what was so awful? any recommendations for making it comfier?

The bra thing - for me it is mainly a comfort thing, although think it's something to do with preventing them from getting too saggy as well. Mine are so huge and heavy that when I rolled over one would get left behind and they'd get very sore, so I'd end up waking up and having to hoik my boobs from one side of the bed to the other . So I worked out that it's more comfortable (and less effort!) if I just wear a bra.
