Hello everyone

Well, had the 20 week scan and all is well and as it should be and I'm having a boy! DH was CONVINCED it would be a girl so was rather surprised! He's as happy as larry anyway though. Felt a lot of movement this afternoon, think perhaps the pressing down on bump woke him up a bit!
I've finally got a wee little bump, it popped out this week really. Went out and bought loads of maternity clothes at the weekend and feel much more comfy, if pooerer . I could probably just about squeeze into some of my normal clothes but they dig in a bit.
Anyone else planning on finding out the sex at their scan?
Sorry to hear you've got a cold santasstresshead I had a terrible cold/cough for weeks, in the end had 3 days off work and got a decongestant from doctors.
Halyley I'm starting my mat leave at 32 weeks. What job are you going on mat leave first for? Is it a physical job?
When's everyone else going on mat leave?

HayleyandRoo · 11/12/2007 10:05

Macaco- One of the jobs is physical unfortunately so I won't be able to do it soon. Plus I get a lot of hassel from bad management there and I don't think I'll cope well with the stress towards the end. Also, I have to be off maternity leave for September so that i can start the new year of my PGCE and my teaching. As the students and myself will have finished their course by time I go on maternity leave(because it's higher education). So overall, I've no option. However, I'm giving up the physical job after maternity leave, so i can just do a bit of part time teaching and my PGCE so I'll still see loads of baby fortunately, coz I don't want to miss anything.

What's everyone else doing?

santaspregnantlittlehelper · 11/12/2007 10:25

macaco that's great! did you think it was going to be a boy? i can't remember if you told us.

hayley i'm not at work but I know first time around I wanted to go as late as possible so i had more time afterwards but as it was ds was early so it all started from date of delivery!

our scan is on 20th dec and we are definitely finding out sex - I'm much too nosy and anally organising not too! besides we have to choose paint for the skirtings in lo's room

how is everyone else???

Wolverina · 11/12/2007 12:37

Hi everyone
I'm still eagerly counting down the days til we come back - only two to go! I heard it's getting pretty cold over there, so have to get hold of some cosy maternity jumpers from somewhere!

I've got my scan while we're in England, on Jan 2nd when I will be 21 weeks, but sadly DH will miss it as he has to come back to Singapore for work Are you allowed to take children in with you? My son is 5 and I think he'd love to be there if it was allowed. I'm not going to find out the sex though - I like to do it the old fashioned way!

Hope you're all well. I wouldn't say I'm blooming but I feel so much better than I did 2 weeks ago!

eva07 · 11/12/2007 13:16

hi sweatbean, this might be something for you

sweetbean · 11/12/2007 14:19

hi all of to mw as feel crappy and want to hear the babys heatbeat as i haven't felt any movment for a couple of days!!

MincecePie · 11/12/2007 14:30

can I ask if eveyone is feeling kicks everyday - I had a bleed last Friday and heard heartbeat at hospital on Sat but sionce then I have convinced myself that I cannot feel kicking.

Am I just being paranoid? Could it have just moved so can no longer feel kicks as strongly as I was feeling them?

bobsmum · 11/12/2007 15:50

Just checking in!!

We now have our solar panels and our rather gorgeous biomass fuel stove in the house!! So we have heating and it's sooooo cosy - no more coal shovelling! And I've got the dishwasher plumbed in too - hallelujah!

Solar panels just need to be connected this week and then we'll have free hot water.

DD has pretty much cracked the potty training in a week which I'm shocked about as ds took 18 months. I know girls are meant to be faster, but I'm so surprised she's managed it this fast. Princess pants are the way to go evidently

I'm 21 weeks today and feeling (and looking) mahoosive. A bit twingy in my pelvis still, but as long as I'm careful and rest as soon as I feel pain, I seem to be escaping the worst of it.

Baby likes to kick me in the bladder at the moment which isn't fun, but still reassuring at the same time.

Gentle pats on the bump to you all

blobsmummy · 11/12/2007 16:15

Hi,

Can't remember who has bought a belly band, but I've got one and it's pretty comfy. Also gives a nice bit of support for the tummy muscles once baby starts getting really heavy. Also very good to wear when bf as you can pull your top up but not get a draft on your tummy - so a good buy all round!

Had a mw appt today and I'm measuring correct size for dates - I can't overestimate what a triumph that is . With DD I was always measuring 2 weeks too small, and I was warned that this baby could be on the small side, so am chuffed to bits at growing a 'normal' sized baby - should be all set for my home birth if this continues.

DH has now got the vomiting bug. He was complaining this morning how horrid he felt, so I'm now getting sympathy a week late after my bug last week. Don't know why he thinks he's got it worse than when I had it (whilst being pregnant and looking after a small child)

Glad the potty training went well Bobsmum, got that to look forward to next year - will remember to get princess knickers!

I'm here having a much concerned cry/moan

Fed up to the back teeth of this pregnancy being treated so different to the first.

Now been told I wont even get a letter through for my 20wk scan until the beginning of Jan (i'll be 21wks on 1st jan) so bit poo'ing it as theres so much controversy about whn you should have it by.

put it this way...they arent exactly going to send the letter saying come tomorrow, because, well thats just plain bloody stoopid so i'll prob be 22/23weeks and am really upset/worried on having to wait that long to make sure everything is ok

sorry for my whinge. xx

bobsmum · 11/12/2007 17:11

Kanga - is this your first scan? Or have you had a dating one already?

I only get one at 12 weeks for the entire pregnancy if that's any consolation.

On a positive note - just think of the detail you'll be able to see at 22 weeks - you'll get an amazing photo!

My only scan with dd was at 17 weeks last time instead of 12 wks because we were in the middle of moving house - my friends were so jealous of the clarity!

santaspregnantlittlehelper · 11/12/2007 17:44

kanga doyou have the energy to be on the phone to them every day demanding the date of the scan? you could always say the christmas post is so messed up that the letter could get lost or delayed blah blah??

blobsmummy as dh very kindly said to me today when i complained about having the sore throat cold bug and being pg and having small toddler "at least you can sleep when he sleeps, i dont get that choice" because i get the farking choice to be up in the middle of the night when he wakes teething......

i don't feel kicks all the time - whoever it is that hasn't felt anything for a couple of days have you tried drinking can of coke, lying o nyour back and having a bit of a prod. sounds more horrid to lo than it is! and is pretty much guaranteed to get a response! but i agree if you are worried at all go and see mw, there is no point in winding yourself up needlessly.

xxx

KangaAndRoo · 11/12/2007 21:14

Ive had a dating one bobsmum...but reassuring (not in a bad way) to hear ppl dont even get a 20wk one. think im on a para that triple test results arent through yet either and its obviously my day for crying hehe

Santaspglittlehelper, I think ive got the energy...gonna see how the letter to mw goes down, then the hosp could have a very angry face at their desk!! lol !!

Hello I am leaving you all I am afraid.

Went to get checked out earlier and no hearbeat. I am going to be induced tomorrow, apparently it takes a couple of days for the drugs to work so will be in again on Friday

bobsmum · 11/12/2007 22:49

Oh no cece - I'm so sorry

Hope you've got lots of support. PLease please look after yourself and take time out. Have a peaceful and restful Christmas. I'll pray for you and your family if that's ok?

MincecePie · 11/12/2007 22:53

Thanks bobsmum,

My mum and dad are staying at the moment so lots of support and help. My mum had soemthing similar with my sister but was about 32 weeks and it turned out she was alive (just) when she was induced so she understands very well. She is now 38!

bobsmum · 11/12/2007 22:56

Glad you've got family with you.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 11/12/2007 23:00

sweetbean · 12/12/2007 08:47

Mincecepie

I'm So Sorry !!!!!!!!! Sending you lots of love!!

macaco · 12/12/2007 10:31

Oh mincecepie, I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad to hear you have your family around to support you. Sending you lots of love.

macaco · 12/12/2007 10:41

Bobsmum I know what you mean about a cold house. Here in Spain the houses don't have central heating, which in the winter (8 degrees today) is COLD.

Santasstresshead, my DH was totally convinced it would be a girl, so he was surprised! He's happy either way. We want a name that works in English and Spanish and most of the Spanish boys names are really biblical so there's not much to choose from. I like Alejandro (pronounce the j like an h) with Alex or Ale (AAAlay) for short and Nicolas (stress on last syllable)...Nico for short. What do you think? A girl would have been so much easier.....Alicia, Olivia, Isabel, Elena, Elisa, Eloisa......

Wolverina I don't see why you couldn't take your son to the scan, can you ring and ask? Must hapen all the time that mums have to as they can't arrange childcare?

santaspregnantlittlehelper · 12/12/2007 11:24

cece am thinking of you and really feel for you and your family. Hope everyone gives you all the support that you need and want.

please take care of yourself

xxxxx

slim22 · 12/12/2007 11:39

cece so sorry
Are you getting a 2nd opinion? Did you see a consultant? did you get a scan?
Thinking of you.
