Ohh go and get it checked out - at least check for heartbeat etc.

Not a lot of news here but the bump is getting very large, I reckon about the same as when I was about 25wks last time and I'm 16.5 now so I hope they slow down a bit growth wise.

Calf cramps have improved a bit but not a lot - I really hope they settle down they are doing my head in.

Weather has been glorious here, dh's family has a yacht between them all and we took a friend from the US out tonight after they finished work, it was lovely sailing in the harbour and the kids loved it too. Long may this weather last.

No real food aversions here, but vege too and although I have felt like a bit of meat after 14yrs I just can't face it so will stick with what we know. I'm enjoying cereal and fruit at the moment - here's thinking we have at least one boy and a girl.

Ohh is anyone else getting any pigmentation, I had a skin analysis done yesterday and apparently mine is coming up pretty bad around my eyes and on one side of my chin. Boy I'm going to look attractive aren't I.

Kanga44 · 04/12/2007 12:09

hope everyone is well.

Hayleyandbaby · 04/12/2007 12:26

MrsStressHead- Uncanny. I've just read your post, and wish i'd been on here earlier. I was going to the doctors anyway this morning for one thing and another, but in the night I started getting awful pains in my bump. It was low down and felt awful, it'd make me sort of stop in my tracks for a bit. Anyway, went to the docs, he sent me straight to antenatal ward. They felt about, did my temp and heartbeats, wee, and BP, then a doctor came in and I couldn't properly understand him (he had a foreign accent) but he said that I had a taut ligament in my tummy and basically there's a lot of stretching etc going on. He didn't even check the baby's heartbeat so my partner asked him to, and he did, reluctantly. Found it straight away and it was really loud, so baby must be fine. It was scary though. My next scan is 3 weeks away i want it now after all that. Maybe your bump pain is the same thing?

Has anyone seen on the news this morning that some political guy was saying people will only be able to have one child per family? How ridiculous is this country getting?

pregnabrain · 04/12/2007 13:26

Hello again

Hayley - I had exactly what you're describing last time I was pregnant and had the same diagnosis. If it helps you to worry less about it, the pain did go away after a while and no harm came to the baby. I know what you mean about wanting to be scanned, though. It gets scary when you're body is hurting and you don't understand why. I think it's part of your natural instinct to protect your baby.

I still haven't felt any real movements - can't wait for this.

Thanks for the 'potty training on the move' tips. I've tried a few short outings - to the park, library etc - and everything's fine so far. Think I'll wait a while before I tackle a longer journey, though. I'm so, so proud of dd. It's so amazing to watch her develop a new skill (even though it does involve poo ). I'm welling up just thinking about it. So hormonal.

mumofk - i'm really interested in hypnobirthing and thinking about doing a course this time round. I didn't do it last time but found that rhythmic breathing really did help during the labour. I'd like to explore more techniques if I can.

JackBlackRoady · 04/12/2007 13:36

hello everyone, thank you soooo much for the kind words about my mum. It was lovely to see her on Saturday, and she can say a couple of words, and walk, and move her left arm, so there are lots of positives.

MrStressHead and Hayley - I have been getting pains like this too, just thought it was stretching, and maybe stomach cramps as I am still being sick. Also keep getting headaches and calf cramps, it's fun this pregnancy lark, eh? I keep thinking all this annoying stuff is because I was so lucky with DS, his was the easiest pregnancy ever, no sickness or headaches, and only got calf cramps when I drank alcohol. (I know! I can't believe I drank throughout my pregnancy either, but I did! I'm not this time though.) Even at month 8, when I got PE and was hospitalised, I felt fine. So for 12 years I've been saying how easy I found pregnancy- serves me right...

Chuffed - oh, for some nice weather! Instead of rain and wind
Kanga - thinking of you, hope it gets sorted
mumofk - I had DS in Bradford, they wouldn't tell you the sex at the 20 week scan there, where are you and will you get to find out?

I have my 20 week scan on 2nd Jan and 3rd mw appmt around then. Hoping that the sickness will be gone by then, it is better than it was but still gross.
Love to everyone,
JBR

jacobandlysetteandabump · 04/12/2007 16:30

just checking in so this stays on my threads i see iykwim!

glad things are positive with your mum JBR

hayley - i had similar pains last time and something a little along those lines at the moment. i, however, get seen by someone every week as i'm so blardy high risk with the bp. the consultants have finally figured out that my bp is higher every single time at the hospital than at my GPs...

nothing else to report except that my manic orange eating habit (5 a day) seems to be saving me from this dreadful cold thing that is going around.

anyone else had a flu jab? i'm checking out tomorrow with the consultant whether i can have it or not.

mrsstresshead the clinic recommended a high vitamin c formula which I can't afford at the moment - might be worth a visit to a clinic for a recommendation.

jacobandlysetteandbump - personally I wouldn't have the flu jab. I think it is one of the two jabs that still contain mercury (I think). They tried to give me a tetanus jab in my last pregnancy as a stitched cut popped open and after about 1/2 hr of refusing it based on metals they did give in. They kept saying it was safe but in my mind it isn't their baby ifywim. It does lower your immune system which can mean you are more susceptible to anything else that is going around. Almost everyone I know who has ever had it said they got sicker that year than ever before.

Well the weather has turned a bit, windy today with occasional rain, dh was happy he got to go windsurfing this afternoon after work.

So glad things are positive with your mum JBR.

Toilet training - I knew I left something out last night.
When we trained we didn't go back, no pull ups etc, I did get some lightly absorbent training undies for visiting other people's houses where I would have been mortified of an accident, they could catch a wee, show up a wee but no dribble on floor. I felt that going back and forth was too confusing.
dd night trained about a month after day training, she wasn't dry in the morning just decided that she didn't want a nappy. (2yrs 3mth I think). We did a pick up wee at about 10.30pm and had an occasional wet bed but she hasn't had an accident for over a year now (3.75). I double sheeted, so normal make up of bed, then a washable bed pad thing then another sheet across wise so if she did have an accident I would rip the top sheet and bed pad off and put her back in with new pj's. She never wet more than once. We also had mattress saver under the bottom sheet which saves the mattress too but never needed it.
ds however I feel will be a different story [hmmm]

macaco · 05/12/2007 09:50

Hi everyone, I'm not even going to attempt personal responses as I get on here so infrequently I can't keep up. I hope everyone's pregnancies are going well and hang in there those who are being sick!
I've been having the low bump pain as well and sometimes my bump goes hard. I think it's a combination of baby moving around and also I've had a terrible cough for a week or so and I think I'm pulling those muscles when i cough.
I've got my 20 week scan on mOnday, hoping to find out the sex!!!

blobsmummy · 05/12/2007 10:26

Hi all,

Not been on for a week as i have had the awful winter vomiting bug - have thrown up everything including liquids for the past 3 days. Think I'm at the end of it now, but feel terribly weak and woozy. MW says it shouldn't have harmed baby as it'll be taking nutrients from my muscles (which has also meant that I've had a lot of joint pain). Hoping to start building myself up slowly now. It certainly put morning sickness into perspective!

Getting quite a few kicks and can see it moving on the outside of my tummy (especially as I'm now so skinny after being ill).

Take care x

blobsmummy lots of carbs were what helped me when i had it earlier in this pg! and also stay off dairy, chicken and bread for a week if you can (even starting once you are feeling over it) as apparently those are the things that aggravate your gut the most???

you poor thing with the joint pain - totally know what you mean!

chuffed - i made the decision today not to have it after talking to the consultant. he said it's safe, but i probably didn't need it what with the now 6 oranges i am having each day!!! I also remembered i suffered really badly every year for a few days afterwards, and really don't think i can go through that with ds teething as well at the moment!

hope everyone else staying well and to everyone i haven't seen on here for a while!

Hi Guys
I have been keeping off recently as still not feel 100% about decision to have Amnio and actually have just called up 2mins ago and cancelled - just gonna get happy with my NTS result and look forward to my 19weeks scan.

I got rather depressed earlier in the week as my brain is failing me and I am making mistakes up to 3 times a day. Plus my DH was away and I am in the thick of renovations with 6 blokes climbing over my house earlier in the week. I have had a heart-to-heart with DH and told him I need more support and he is going to have to try a bit harder.

On the up side my LO has started kicking and DS2 has started potty training. He very cutely calls it not his potty but his tea pot.

On cravings - I absolutely had to make my own potato salad the other day. I can't fill my car up with petrol without buying white milk chocolate bar and one minute I am starving and I have a few bites of something and then am full and an hour later am starving again - driving me nuts!

On movies that I watch over and over with my boys - Cars, Happy Feet and Madagascar - could be worse. I am kind of hoping that DC3 is another boy as the transistion to pink and princesses might be more than I can cope with .

I hope you are gettin your strength back Blobsmummy! I am off for some acupuncture in the morning as I threw my back out this week lifting DS1.

Chuffed · 07/12/2007 06:01

Aussiesim - sorry you have been low. Good news about movement though.

I hope those of you with sick children/sick yourself start to feel better there is just nothing worse.

My kids are into watching Little Einsteins and Blues Clues episodes over and over. I find it easier this way as I feel I can limit it easier than with a movie where they want until the end. I agree TV is very calming for my two.

I have now had 2 accupuncture sessions for my calf pain/neuralgia. Hopefully it will make a difference. He told me that watermelon is really good in pregnancy, and if you eat a little bit into the green it can act to get rid of excess fluid a bit like a diuretic. We are going through it like anything - any excuse we all love watermelon.

I've put on 6.6kg so far this pregnancy and am only 17wks. My last two were born when I got to 72kg so I have about 6kg to go then it will be crunch time. I seem to be growing at a rate and my 10 jeans are only just fitting now.(just as well they have a little stretch in them). I would say in the next couple of days there will be no hope.

Take care all!

santagitta · 07/12/2007 11:44

Hello ladies! I am on the April thread, but thought I'd pop in and say hello as I am pretty sure LO will arrive in May. Hope you are all doing well and past the sickness stage...

jacobandlysetteandabump · 07/12/2007 15:30

hi aussiesim, so sorry to hear you have been a bit low, and if you are anything like me your DH will just have assumed that you don't need as much as support as you do with things like builders etc? glad to hear you have made the decision about the amnio as i'm sure it has been playing on your mind a huge amount.

and talking of eating habits i'm pretty much the same! Am currently scoffing down mince pies like there is no other food on earth and thinking of food, DH is at his law firms christmas party and i feel an urge for chinese food coming on mmmmmmmmmmm!!

the lo is kicking around like crazy and i am growing by the minute, but only in the bump which is so different to last time. And chuffed I started this pg at 72kg , although at my booking appt i had put on 4 kg, then had a bug and lost 1kg, and now am 76kg, so am back at the weight i was at 7 weeks which for me is fine! I was a lot bigger last time around, so hopefully this bodes well for the rest of the pg (all 12 weeks of it left if the consultants are correct )

we have our anomoly scan 2 weeks yesterday, can't wait, hopefully lo will let us see what brand (as many of my friends here say!) it is! DH says it'll either be a silver fern or an all black, he doesn't mind

hope everyone else all ok, and looking forward to the weekend!
