Yes the calcium and magnesium is for cramps and the neuralgia but it is a good one for cramps.

JBR - so sorry to hear you have been so up and down and still having sickness. Just remember that there is a lot of healing that continues to go on after brain damage from a stroke/car accident etc and even if she can't talk she may well be able to understand. So not jealous of having to do the roller coaster of house hunting/moving etc.

As for the size 10 thing it is only a few things and it is how I am carrying, I carry just out in front quite high so low rider stuff sits underneath. Def in the preg tops now though.

Hayleyandbaby · 29/11/2007 10:38

Chuffed- so jealous. You've well and truly put me to shame. You're having 3 babies and still in size 10! I'm having 1 baby and gone from a 10 to a 14, and even then it won't fasten comfortably round my huge baby bump. You're doing so well!!

I know everyone's on about the calf cramps. I was woke up 4 times with them last night, and I just lie there and shake until they go. What can i take for them? And why is it happening anyway? Am i eating too much salt or something?

JBR- it's such a shame about your mum, but you must be so happy that she's ready to come home.Hope she feels much better soon.

DPs godson's mum died 5 weeks after birth, so we look after him quite a lot. He was not at all happy when shown a potty, and he won't go near it. Though he's too young yet anyway, he's only 13 months. It's clearly going to be hard work when it comes to it though hehe.

Kanga44 · 29/11/2007 21:19

JBR Fab to hear she's coming home x

I went for my 16wk bloods today and have now been put back as high risk (as I was with dd) All to do with my ferritin levels being extremely low and its leaving me breathless.
With dd it was because my bp was low and i'd passed out just before I caught so they wanted to keep check on it.

Hope everyone is well....oh I neeeeed to go to bed....yawns xx

Hayleyandbaby · 30/11/2007 10:55

Hi everyone

I had the weirdest night last night. I did a presentation in my PGCE class. Last time I was fine. This time I couldn't breathe properly and everything started closing in like I was going to faint. I don't know if it was a mini panic attack or what. I've never done that in a presentation before. You know when you've just walked up ten thousand stairs and you can barely talk coz you need to catch your breath? thats what i was like! But without the stairs coz I'd only been sat on my bum!!

Then I went to bed and my boobs were killing me. I woke up in the night with one leaking!!! I'm only 16+5!! Is this normal, or is there something wrong with my boob?

I hope my 2nd pregnancy is easier, I panic over everything in this one with it being my first time. that's if i can talk DP into having more kids as he's said I've driven him so mad whilst pregnant that he dfoesn't know if he can face anymore!!!

Kanga44 · 30/11/2007 12:30

My boobs leaked with my 1st....nothing to worry about...its colostrum.

Ive got the breathlessness thing but mine is medically recognised but dont feel im going to pass out. Maybe have a chat with your mw? get her to look at your blood levels etc?

take it easy! x

sweetbean · 30/11/2007 14:32

Hi everyone

Yep my boobs leaked to on my first,I called my MW when it happen and she said all was fine and its totally normal.

Jackblackroady
I hope your OK Hun it must be really hard work being pregnant and worrying about your mum all the time,I hope things start to improve when she gets back in her own home ! xxx

Chuffed !!
Oh to be a size 10 !! you lucky girl xxx

With regard to the potty training my dd was 2.3 months when we official potty trained her and she was fine it took about 3 days! but in fairness we had the potty kicking around for a while before we started and would just let her be naked and sit on it whenever she wanted. thankfully we had very few accidents. However i would love some tips on getting then out of nappies at night where do you start ???

My Morning sickness has started again and just feel generally pucky most of the day. Which is a real bastard because it had totally stopped and i was feeling a lot better !

Can i ask when do food aversions stop, as i can't eat any meat apart from beef and bacon sometimes when will this go because i used to love meat !!

Sorry for the long post hope everyone is well xxx

IndigoBlue · 30/11/2007 16:39

Hi

Been trying to catch up with everyone's posts, computer has been on the blink & going to be a couple of weeks before we get a new one so can only get on internet now and then on dh's work laptop.

Having building work done on the house is taking my mind off being pregnant, so the weeks seem to be flying by. I'm feeling quite tired but ok otherwise.

I would love to be a size 10 too, I put on weight when pregnant last time and didn't lose all of it so am still a size bigger but going to wait til I've had this baby to try and lose some weight.

Hayley - Yes it is normal for boobs to leak anytime from 16 weeks onwards, mine started at 17 weeks last time & yes it is a bit of a shock at first I found. Mine was only at night for a few weeks and then a small amount in the day too, you just have to start using breast pads a bit earlier than you thought! I'm now waiting to see if it'll happen this time round as I'm 17 weeks today.

jacobandlysetteandabump · 30/11/2007 16:49

hayley just get them to check your bp again. also make sure you eat little and often and drink plenty of water.

my boobs leaked a littel at around 18 weeks last time and then stopped really!

JBR glad to hear your mum is coming home.
sweetbean hate to tell you but food aversions can keep going all the way through, like cravings. i ate loads of peaches with ds and haven't touched one since he was born!

I've got eczema! in two patches, one under each arm and it's really sore and red.

eva07 · 30/11/2007 18:18

hi sweetbean,
I will be living in pontcanna, you anywhere near?

Hello all and thanks for your potty training tips / messages of support. It's coming to the end of day 2 and we've gone from 3 stars on the chart yesterday to 9 today! Am amazed and so proud of her I could cry. It's so weird because today started really badly and I got really down about it, and then this afternoon it just seemed to click!! Am chuffed (sorry to steal someone else's name).

JBR - sorry to hear your mum is poorly. It's hard enough being pregnant without having something like that to worry about. I hope she gets better soon. The father of a friend of mine had a stroke about a year ago and he was pretty bad at first, but is SO much better now. It's just a bit of a long haul i think.

Hayley - get them to check your BP. I sometimes get a massive headrush when I stand up (oh, the physical effort!). Sounds sort of similar...

Hope everyone's enjoying Saturday night. I've got the house to myself (well, me and sleeping dd). BLISS.

walkingwomb · 01/12/2007 22:40

couple of quick points coz i am tired:

food aversions - can't stand coffee and apricots (just retch thinking about them)

rude dreams - had a great one about Alan Cummings last night mmmmmmmmmmm

Wolverina · 02/12/2007 12:29

I'm another one with strong food aversions, mainly meat and fish. It's weird cos I was a veggie for 15 years but then when I was pg with my son I craved meat so much I had to start eating it, and carried on after he was born, but with this one as soon as the ms started I couldn't look at it or smell it without hurling. Now even though I've stopped feeling sick I just can't bring myself to eat it, so I'm eating loads of cheese, beans, nuts etc to get plenty of protein.

My baby has just started moving loads and it's so lovely - I'm sitting here with my top pulled up so I can see my tummy and I can see the faintest movements that are corresponding with the feelings inside so I know it's her and not gas or something! (BTW don't know for sure it's a girl, just have my mummy intuition!) I was reading that you can feel movements much earlier with the 2nd one so I guess that proves it for me. Anyone else been able to see movements on the outside yet?

pregnabrain · 02/12/2007 21:09

I'm so jealous of everyone feeling movements already. I loved the feeling last time and can't wait to feel it all happening again.

I haven't got any serious food aversions at the moment and I think that's reflected in my ridiculous size. I already look bigger than I did at 20 weeks last time. Am busting out of all my clothes too.

For those of you with uncomplicated pregnancies, how often have you seen your midwife or doctor so far? I've been seen once, and my next appointment with mw isn't till after the second scan. Is this normal? My last pregnancy suddenly got really difficult during the last trimester (I developed obstetric cholestasis, a nasty liver condition) so I think my memory is of loads of medical attention. Feels weird just to be left to get on with it this time.

pregnabrain · 02/12/2007 21:10

ps potty training is going like a dream. Only one accident today - I can't believe I was so stressed about it.

I'm a bit puzzled about how to tackle outings, though. Experienced pottyers - what did you do in the early days if you had to go out somewhere for a few hours or on a long journey?

sweetbean · 03/12/2007 08:26

Hi all

Pregnabrain

Hi Hun just wanted to say that with dd i took her out to the park at first to get her used to the idea. I took with me her portable potty and a change of cloths (just in case) I also made sure she did a wee before we left and asked every 5 mintuits on the way round the park if she needed a wee!!!and she was totally fine. when we got home i gave her loads of prays and sat her on the potty and she did a wee !!
So my advise would be take her somewhere close preferable somewhere you can walk to and don't worry if you have an accident just be prepared. Sorry for the long ramble hope it helps a littel.

Hope everyone else is ok i can feel baby moving but not skinny enough to see it on the outside

eva07 · 03/12/2007 10:29

hi sweetbean, I know where the roath park lake is, have already been there for a walk
I guess I will have all my antenatal stuff done at Heath Hospital, don't know yet. I'm from Austria, don't know much about the uk health system and how everything works yet but will have to find out during my next visit (Dec.22-Jan.04).

Haley, not caught up properly, but sounds like what happened to me last time! last time I started going dizzy and breathless at around 18 weeks. It kept going until 36 weeks, but only properly passed out if I tried to ignore it and keep going. After a few weeks sitting down didn't help, I'd have to lie down for half and hour, then get taken home- too scared to drive. Eventually it happened 2-3 times a week. Had a night in hospital, and everything came back NORMAL. FFS! I kept eating, resting, followed all advice, and as I work in hospital could get BP done when it happened. All normal. Drs have no idea, but told me it must be normal for me. Anyway, this time I'm NOT eating everytime I feel wobbly, in case food diverts food from brain, just having a rest- I'm fine at 19 weeks, but also think this pregnancy is TOTALLY different to last time. Go to midwife/drs, get checked out, but don't panic if they tell you nothing is wrong. Something isn't right, but they just can't neccesarily tell you what it is. Doesn't seem to have doen DD any harm!
Sorry, will read on now and catch up.
Hope you're doing ok,
mumof k

mumofk · 03/12/2007 12:54

Pregnabrain- re appointments, second or more times around they do see you less, if everything is fine. Round here ( w Yorks) its when you've got a +ve pregnancy test, when you're 12-14 weeks for booking visit, then after anat scan so 20-24 wks. Everywhere is individual but what you're descibing is the same as I'm getting.
My big pregnancy experience this weekend has been a Hypnobirthing Course! DH and I spent 2 days in self-hypnosis so hoping birth will be very chilled now. Can't recommend it highly enough -though, of course, have no evidence it actually works for me, but DH and I have been soo relaxed and have learned techniques that will be useful forever, not just for pregnancy- e.g. DH turned off his back pain and a day later is still ok. I'd rather his back didn't hhurt in the first place, but now he can do something. Also, great for his anger management! it is expensive- that's what put me off so didn't do it first time round, but it is amazing. I was the earliest on in pregnancy in the class, but the next one isn't until Feb and no childcare then. So, we've got even longer to practise all the techniques. And I think she said some people had been on the course before conception!www.hypnobirthingyorkshire.com/ is her site, but if you google hypnobirth there's loads everywhere, if you want more info.
Right, back to work,
mumofk

cece · 03/12/2007 16:24

with regards to potty training.

  • don't plan any long trips for at least a fortnight (or pop a pull up on them if unavoidable)...
  • initially take a potty with you and spare clothes. Do a few longer trips to the shops where there are toilets for them to visit. DD particularly liked this. In one hour we went 6 times the first time we did this!
  • wait until they are nearly 3 to do it. DD did it on her own with rarely an accident. In fact she told me she didn't want nappies anymore . DS was also nearly three, however he was a bit tougher to crack and when busy used to forget to go. This went on for about 6 months! He is now 4 and still uses pull ups at night, whereas DD was dry at night within a month of turning 3.
Hayleyandbaby · 03/12/2007 18:39

MumofK- Thanks, I'm going to go to the doctors tomorrow about the weird spells, and to get them to check my BP (thanks to everyone who suggested that, I think the docs should do it more often as I request it myself when i go rather than them mentioning it! Which is strange). I'm glad your DD turned out fine, I guess that means mine will too hopefully. I'm also going about the fact that i can't have a wee because my bump turns into total agony. It's not like a water infection where it stings and stuff, it's like really bad pains up either side of my ever growing bump. Strange eh?

My DP seems to have got the nesting instinct, and sorted out soooooo much stuff! What a gem. We're moving house at beginning of Jan too. Can't wait. Central heating for baby, and it's a proper house, not a flat. It's lovely.

Wolverina- I've no idea how you can go off meat, I couldn't get enough of it before, let alone now .

Pregnabrain- Have you felt any movement yet? Mine are few and far between at the mo. Don't worry, you'll feel it soon.
