MissVicki - would also echo the sentiments of not tursting your intuition! Convinced I was having a boy when I was pregnant with DD - and convinced I was having a girl this time around when I'm now expecting a boy!

Was convinced DD was a girl last time as I had 22, 26 and 30 weeks scans for grwoth checks, so i asked at everyone and was pretty sure that 3 couldn't be wrong!

I've had just the one scan saying this one is a boy and have no more booked in, so even though we're pretty sure of what we all saw, without loads of other scans to back it up there is a little doubt in my mind.

sweetbean, coby, mrsstresshead - my sonographer was very sure i am carrying a girl - i asked mumofk if she was always so sure!

really pleased to read everyones news - i am now tempted to just go book a 4d scan sweetbean, and just tell DH!!!!

Mumblesmummy....just back tracking coz I havent been on much lol are you having the anti-d on thursday? or booking it?

hope everyone n their bumps are doing well.

bobsmum · 16/01/2008 13:19

Just had a dreadful thought.

I don't just want a boy or a girl. I want both. I just want loads more babies! Argh - this is supposed to be my last and dh will be going for the snip. Must fight the cluckiness urge!

Ds (5) told me about a dream he had last night. He said I was in the hospital because the baby was coming and the doctors cut me in half and it was a boy. Erk!

IndigoBlue · 16/01/2008 13:25

Hi

Sweetbean - congrats on a girl, when I had my 20 week scan with dd they said 85% sure a girl & it was right. I was planning on having a 4d scan with this one but now don't think we can afford it really but i'm not too disappointed as this pregnancy is flying by so feels like i'll be seeing it soon anyway.

Bobsmum - I'm already talking about having baby number 3, but I know i'll probably feel differently when I'm looking after a newborn & toddler that if we do have another it won't be for a few years probably!

Just put pic of my bump on my profile if anyone's interested!

jacobandlysetteandabump · 16/01/2008 14:58

coby pmsl laughing at the coat thing. i too have had experiences like that and i always say "no....i haven't just been eating a lot". normally gets them to realise!

and whoever it is that has the double chin - let's start a club, mine is developing nicely!

bobsmum · 16/01/2008 17:07

Indigo - you have a lovely bump - cooking nicely

Fleurie76 · 16/01/2008 18:14

Wow - this thread has raced along.
Lots of funny posts especially regarding murderous thoughts!
Mumofk - loved the rant about your co-workers being 'nice' and 'sympathetic' when actually you wish they would shut up! However sorry to hear you are having a hard time at work.

Had my scan today! All went well and it was so lovely to see him/her again - I was amazed at the detail of the face and all the limbs - incredible! Didn't find out the flavour though, I think I must be strange as everyone else seems to have found out. For some reason I think the surprise will spur me on throughout the birth so I was desparate not to look at the bottom end today!

Mumblesmummy, I have the same thing with looking big one day with thinking I have a proper bump to looking just a bit chunky. It's rather depressing when I suck in my fat bits and look in the mirror that the actual 'bump' bit is quite small, it's when I breathe out I am amazed at how much flab is sitting on top (I was a size 12 before so not huge!)and that is the bit that everyone sees and enevitably strokes I'm just giving into it now, letting it hang out and put up with the 'Oh haven't you got big comments'! When what i really want to say is 'Not really, that's just a flab shelf that's sitting on top, but thanks'
Re weight gain - I'd put on 2kg (5lbs?) by 14 weeks when I paid my only pregnant visit to the gym - haven't dared weigh myself since!
However lovely DH said the other night that he didn't think I looked pregnant anywhere else so bless him for that even if it isn't true!
Finally - (sorry - essay) I've been getting lower back / tailbone pain really easily, just a simple bought of hoovering can do it. Did some DIY at the weekend (just a bit of light painting) and I was in agony on Monday - better now but depressing not to be able to do much so early on. The pain was also around my hip joints / top of my legs so not sure if this is to do with pelvis bones loosening?? any suggestions gratefully received!

bobsmum · 16/01/2008 18:16

Fleurie - we're not finding out either

Fleurie76 · 16/01/2008 18:45

Sorry - shold have previewed my message a bit more carefully.
'Oh haven't you got big!' comments not 'Oh haven't you got big comments' - could be a new euphemism
Also 'bout' of hoovering
Bobsmum - I never went looking for my Christmas presents as a child - you? Wonder if has anything to do with not finding out the sex!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/01/2008 19:09

Finally had my scan. Everything looks OK. And it's a boy, so we'll have 2 of each. How very tidy!

Beginning to get a bump so I just look a bit fat. [pulls face] Pregnancy looks best when it's all or nothing!

Glad you're all progressing nicely.

mumofk · 16/01/2008 20:55

Hi all, sorry for rant yesterday- feel so much better after nights sleep and afternoon nap- got to leave at lunch today- so I'm a different hormonal pg lump today! Thank god for mumsnet!
In terms of sex- I never give percentages as if I'm wrong I'm 100 % wrong- and that's no help to anyone! If I can see something to base an opinion on, I say what I think, and if I can't see anything well I say I can't see. If you've been told something, then that's what the sonographer thinks based on what baby's shown - whether really obvious in one shot or building up an opinion during the whole scan. Noone would deliberately mislead you, and in terms of getting it wrong, we know it happens, but where I work we don't audit it- its an extra, not part of what we 'need' to look at, so we don't audit.
Right, so much energy must get on and do stuff (this is such a novelty!!!)
Will have to catch up again later,
hugs to all, and thanks for putting up with rants....
mumofk

Hi all-sorry I haven't been on at all since christmas. We managed to get home on christmas eve after our original flight was cancelled. Despite this I had such a lovely time. Its was just so horrible being back to work and its taken ages to read all these posts!
Jackblack-Hope you are feeling ok about work but if you are ill there is no point even beginning to teach! Luckily I'm managing with my classes-the kids are even protective of me when I'm walking about the corridors-although shouting "Miss has got a baby in her, everybody watch out" is a bit embarrassing!! And now I'm dreading teaching sex education next week-normally I can detach myself from it but its pretty obvious what I've been up to!

I managed to scare myself this week. I've been getting dizzy spells, palpitations and difficulty breating and put it down to pg symptoms. After an episode of this at work my colleagues managed to worry me sick about pre-eclampsia. Normally I don't panic but having a baby has sent me a little hysterical! DH brought me the hospital (after getting no appts with the docs) and they were amazing. They tested me loads and reassured me that baby was fine and that I was just anaemic. So I've started on iron again. Thank God that's all it was and the midwife and doctor assured me that i wasn't some irrational woman and to come back any time I was worried!

fleurie and mumblesmummy-I'm the same about looking big one day and not the next-it really depends what I wear. And where do people get off telling me I'm looking big? Since when should anyone comment on a woman's weight?! maybe I'm just being sensitive!

Any way I'm 30 tomorrow! Would have liked a party but can't bear the thought of everyone else necking champagne and booze while I lie beached in a corner! DH is cooking a meal and we are going to have a weekend seeing friends, shopping and going to the theatre which will be lovely.

time is just flying ladies and we've lots to look forward to!!
take care
xx

macaco · 16/01/2008 22:17

Well, there's me wearing my baggy hide the bump maternity gear and a kid says to me in class today "have you got any children?" followed by giggling a lot and , I swear, looking at my bump. So there's me feeling all svelte and even worrying if I'm a bit small for 26 weeks but looks like I am in fact more of a porker than I thought.

Well DH was OK about the scan as i also said that my mum was helping LOL !!!!! but the bit that made me think was that he said he wasn't sure that he wanted to see what she actually looked like until she was born and that it would take away a bit of the magic of seeing them for the first time

I have to say that ive never really thought about it like that but it do's make me think he might be right !!!!! however im sure her little face will change a lot from 29 to 40+ weeks right ?????????? (please reassure me im not taking something away from the birth !!)

jacobandlysetteandabump · 17/01/2008 09:09

Hi Fleurie - I have that flab shelf too! I've got a firm low bump and I think it has just pushed the bit of flab up. I'm hoping flab and bump will join up shortly but at 21 weeks today I still have a bit of a waist that separates them!

JackBlackRoady · 17/01/2008 13:24

happy birthday london irish! hope your classes were nice to you today! thanks for your advice too. and to everyone else!

i rang work this morning, to check in and let them know i am still alive, but still feeling rubbish - and they interviewed this week - and appointed the woman - and she is going to start teaching my classes from monday!!!

feel for the kids and as she seemed lovely when i met her but also feel as i want to teach my classes, they are mine! then i feel for being selfish and remember they need stability and it is that my work are being organised...

so i have finished teaching... wierd. not sure where that leaves me!

Mumblesmummy · 17/01/2008 16:16

Mitchell- sorry I missed your post, my midwife told me anti D was at 24 weeks but went to see a different one today and she said 28! So 28 it is

I ended up in TOTAL agony with one side today and I was really starting to panic but when I went to the midwife, she said as your ribs expand that happens, but once they've done it it stops hurting. To be honest I'm thinking if I'm crying over this pain, what am I guna be like over labour pains???

JBR- Hehe they r tho!! hyowge

MrsStressHead- Think we have to suffer sausage arms in silence though I heard that massaging cream into the undersides of your arms can improve circulation and help break down fatty deposits- tho that could be rubbish.
