Cece- Very sorry. I'll say a prayer for you and Hope. xxx

HayleyandRoo · 14/12/2007 13:12

Just a quick update- had a bleed the other night, and reduced movement, had some swabs and the anti d injection and a scan. Very worrying at the time, but baby's fine. Sonographer was really horrible and upset us both. She also refused to tell us the sex. Not that we really care as we're just so relieved everything's ok. Doctor said my bum is very tight so the baby's getting quite big now I guess.

HayleyandRoo · 14/12/2007 13:13

Sorry, I meant BUMP not bum

santaspregnantlittlehelper · 14/12/2007 13:30

hayley is it a policy at your hospital to not tell sex? i know it is a some hospitals.

hope you're feeling ok again.

I must admit i was wondering why your bum was very tight meant that baby is getting big!

xxx

whenachildisbob · 14/12/2007 13:37

I don't think many hospitals will tell you the sex anymore. I don't think any in Glasgow for example, will - there are signs everywhere saying ":Do not embarrass your sonographer by asking the sex' etc etc.

Most are either worried about lawsuits if they get it wrong or people choosing to terminate on the basis of the gender

whenachildisbob · 14/12/2007 13:38

'Tis Bobsmum btw with a Christmas name

santaspregnantlittlehelper · 14/12/2007 13:52

great name bobsmum!

I'm really hoping that at our hospital they will tell us the sex, as thinking about the demographic of the population of the area there could be a case for not saying because of possible terminations due to sex. i agree

where are you hayley, if you don't mind me asking?

HayleyandRoo · 14/12/2007 15:29

In Cumbria. They usually tell people here but she said she didn't have time and she was mean all the way through, and she was so rough she hurt me, so I'm guessing she was having a bad day or something. I was wondering if she thought I'd made the bleeding up in order to get a scan

I'm hoping we find out next time.

I had no idea people terminated due to gender!! How strange.

macaco · 14/12/2007 18:02

ROFL at my bum is tight.....best laugh I've had in ages!!!

snooks · 14/12/2007 19:31

Hi all,

Hayley that's hilarious, was feeling quite of your tight bum til I realised it was a mistake. How good would it be if tight, pert buns were a side effect of pregnancy? [wistful sigh emoticon] Sorry about your horrid scan

We had 20 week scan today. I've still got a headache because I get so irrationally nervous before a scan....everything appeared normal and we found out it's a girl! We are thrilled, got 2 dses so at least I won't be quite so outnumbered. Bless her, she did a massive yawn when the sonographer was scanning her face. I'm hoping it's a sign she will be a fantastic sleeper

snooks · 14/12/2007 19:36

PS bobsmum, yours is the best Christmas name I've seen, mind you I am a bit of a closet Johnny Mathis fan...

mumofk · 14/12/2007 19:48

Cece, not been on for ages and just caught up-so sorry to hear your news. Hope is a lovely name and I'm so sorry your pregnancy has come to such a sudden sad end. My thoughts are with you- it could happen to any of us- so awful for you. Very glad you have family around to be with you now.
Big hugs (doesn't say it enough, not very articulate)
mumof k

Hi everyone. I'd hate it if they'd refused to tell me the sex. I was DYING to know. Absolutely everyone finds out the sex here in Spain, it's almost unheard of not to. What names are people thinking of?

macaco · 15/12/2007 16:28

and....chuffed, stupid question......how will you decide which baby gets which name, and how will you remember who is who at first?

Hi all, I am sorry, I am such an infrequent poster. Anyone who has a toddler will understand!! I am now 20 weeks (due 2 may). Got my 20 week scan on Christmas Eve, so I will actually be nearly 22 weeks.
With it being my second pregnancy I am most definitely obvioulsy pregnant. When the reception staff which physio they are seeing the patients sometimes say "umm, hope I'm not putting my foot in it, but I think she is pregnant"!!!!!
Had my Christmas do last night, had a GORGEOUS mat dress a friend loaned me, so flattering in all the right places, and just glam enough. I felt a million dollars! Also, despite experiencing quite bad pelvic/lower back pain (SPD) in first pregnancy, managed to dance in 6" stilettos!!!!! The girls from work were a cross between impressed and concerned (obviously being physios too, knowing I probably shouldn't have being doing that with my history !!

I am feeling really good with pgy at the mo. Still get more tired than normal, I think having an 18 month old probably explains why!
I have started to feel the baby move every day now too.

My poor BF had a MC recently. She actually got pg, mc'd v early but didn't actually 'expell' the embryo, then got pg straight away again, but then lost the second one too. V V sad, losing two so close together. On the plus side, my cousin who has been TTC for YEARS is now pg after 3rd attempt at IVF!!!! Early days, I think she is about 9 weeks, but fingers crossed.

Haven't read all the thread but regarding testing for downs, we decided not to bother, the reason being I would not terminate anyway, but my SIL was told for each pgy that she was 'very high risk' and her kids are all healthy, and I know someone who was told 'very low risk' whose baby is downs, so I think it's not that great a test anyway.
Re- amnio, I know of two people who MC'd immed (the day after) having amnio. It is a recognised risk of course. Foetus was 6 months in both cases, how awful. Anyway, hope that helps and doesn't upset or offend anyone.

Well, I may not post often, but when I do it's a long one!!!!!

Have a good Chrismtas all of you, knowing me it will be weeks before I post again!

goodcatholicgirl · 15/12/2007 17:42

Me again, OMG, just read back a bit on the thread, Cece, I am so sorry for your loss, I cannot imagine what you are going through. I have just been crying my eyes at at the thought of what you are going through. I will say lots of prayers for you and your family.

P.S. Am I in the minority for not wanting to know the sex of our baby??? Def don't want to find out, I like the suprise!!!!

macaco · 15/12/2007 19:19

I don't think you're in the minority in Britian goodcatholicgirl, but here in Spain everyone finds out. I really wanted to know anyway. Santasstrersshead I like Harry and Ruby and Evie best for girls. Very nice.
My hands are tied by wanting a Spanish name that works in English too, so that narrows it down a lot.
The only ones I really like are Nicolás ... Níco for short and Alejandro (pronounce j like h) with Ále for short. But he'll have 3 little cousins called Ále so leaning to Nicolás. There are MASSES of girls names I like...Alicia, Elisa, Eloisa, Elena, Isabel, Lidia....so next time will have to be a girl!

It's hard having to match the name to the surname isn't it? My friend knew a girl called Annette Curten!
My baby will have a double barrelled surname as he'll have dh's name first and then mine, so will sound a bit odd as dh name very latin and flowery and mine very common English name!
I think you'd get away with Evelyn Stevens fine and then call her Evie. Maybe it's a boy anyway? Are you going to find out or have a surprise?
