Ah thank you. I'm not in pain as long as I don't move thankfully so it's good that I can at least sleep. But I'm going to try and get the pregnancy support belt today and hopefully that will help a lot. I did think about having a bath but worried I might not be able to get out again!

Username that's nice that he is doing it with you :)

lucyrp · 08/07/2021 10:20

My hot water has been playing up the last couple of days and I rang the engineer who's been trying to fob me off saying to press a button etc. Anyway he came out today and turns out my pump for the solar supply has packed up so no wonder it hasn't been working 🙄🙄

lucyrp · 08/07/2021 11:08

Just went to pack baby's hospital bag and the zip has gone bust again 😩🙄

Daffodil21 · 08/07/2021 11:17

@lucyrp oh no! Not a good day for you!!

BertieBotts · 08/07/2021 11:46

Argh I am feeling so fed up. I planned to go to the special place I need to pick up the pregnancy belt today. I feel a bit better after a night's sleep but not totally. Then as I was about to leave I went to get the prescription from my pregnancy notes and it's not there! I only have the piece of paper I need to submit to the health insurance and the one I need to submit to the hospital (at least I have those, I suppose...)

Then by the time I realised and looked for it I missed my bus. I can go to my doctor and ask for another prescription but it means I have to leave later. Everything is just so frustrating. I am now wearing a baby sling just for some kind of support! It is helping a bit but I will probably take it off before I leave the house.

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2021 12:03

These last few weeks are very testing. I was probably naive because all in all for a while I've avoided feeling like crap, it was just average in hindsight. But yes, the final stretch is crap, I'll just put it out there 😂 For me since about 25 weeks it's been such a downhill ride! Sorry to hear many of us are struggling now. It also sounds like I'm not the only one right now feeling like small and big things really get to me and everything is hard. I hear you, girls Flowers Moan as much as you like, we're allowed! It will pass and we'll go through it (I need to keep telling this to myself every day too, so in no way patronising at all!!!) xx

biscuitcat · 08/07/2021 13:24

I'm joining the pity party today 😓 had a growth scan and baby has gone from the 50-something percentile to the 81st in 4 weeks so now having to monitor blood sugars with the machine/finger pricks to check it's not GD. The sonographer was lovely but he even said he was a bit generous with some measurements so it feels like if he'd been a bit more careful I could have been left alone 😣

@BertieBotts sorry to hear that lovely, what a pain - glad you're managing to get some relief from the baby sling xx

Ava50x · 08/07/2021 13:59

@Ready2020 thanks, I do think I need to get some sort of pillow, the sore hips are just too much at this point!

@Whatshouldbemyusername that sounds lovely but honestly I'm going to bed early 3-4 times a week, can't even think of getting up early- that's how knackered I am!!

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2021 14:36

Oh @biscuitcat...that is such a PITA...did they give you Avamatrix? How long/often do you need to monitor for? I have to say, I hate it, if I had to start earlier on in the pregnancy I would have struggled big time xx

HopefulB · 08/07/2021 14:40

Gosh, another possible GD? I wonder if they’re more cautious now than in the past/ picking up more women with this (which is obviously a good thing). Good luck with the testing @biscuitcat.

Sorry your struggling @BertieBotts.

I feel more and more like Winnie the Pooh every day, puffing away as I need to roll over/get up, and with a very round belly.
I watched a useful video on FB from Serenity Doula (American) about how to get out of bed…. There’s also some videos on there of how different positions affect you pelvic bones, which I found useful for visualising benefit of particular position in labour.

All well on our growth scan today & discharged from consultant care earlier in the week, so fingers crossed no changes in the coming weeks - other than baby getting in a better position!

lucyrp · 08/07/2021 15:16

@biscuitcat are they not sending you for a GTT ? Never heard of monitoring it like they've suggested for you, interesting. Fingers crossed you're all good🤞🏼

biscuitcat · 08/07/2021 15:35

@PurplePansy05 yes that's the one - only 5 days initially, before breakfast and after each meal, and so long as there are fewer than 3 high readings overall I think I can leave it there 🤞

@lucyrp they did offer a GTT as an alternative but I'm so busy with work that I didn't want to lose half a day sitting around in hospital! I had one at 27/28 weeks or so and it was totally fine so I'm hoping it was just the sonographer mis-measuring as he really didn't seem convinced by his own measurements...

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2021 15:35

@lucyrp I have a Bluetooth device, needles, testing strips and a little bin to discard medical waste and have to test six times a day at certain times. Then send the info via Bluetooth and an app which is seen on the screen by the diabetes MW and the moment she starts noticing a worrying pattern, she calls and guides through the next steps, eg whether to monitor longer based on diet changes, start meds, change dosage etc. Having said that, this has only been introduced for me after my OGTT test, so yes, that's a bit harsh they've already asked @biscuitcat to monitor. But sometimes there are other obvious symptoms of GD, for example sugar in urine in combination with the baby growing a bit too fast is a very likely symptom even without OGTT. xx

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2021 15:38

Aaah there we are @biscuitcat that makes sense, sorry our messages crossed. I really hope it's not that for you, as you know I had GTT before too at 28+5 which was fine! So annoying! Give me a PM if you need any tips or just want to moan, after a week it started getting to me, so I have a lot of sympathy, I really do 🙈🙈🙈 xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 08/07/2021 16:35

@lucyrp @BertieBotts @biscuitcat hope your day improved x

@PurplePansy05 hope you're doing well too my love x

@Ava50x babe trust me it's not working out well at the moment. Feel like a 🧟‍♀️ now lol. Am planning to get in bed for 9 latest today! X

alittlexmasmagic · 08/07/2021 18:33

Double points on Boots Parenting Club & 10% off when you spend £50 today.
Worth checking out for any big purchases x

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2021 19:39

And Seraphine has up to 50% off on a fair bit of clothing - I bought a winter 3 in 1 parka for £99 down from £150. Been disappointed with this brand before, but this was the only place where I could find a decent 3 in 1 and now under £100 too. Will let you know if it's nice and practical (can we even put these two things in one sentence?!) xx

BertieBotts · 08/07/2021 20:44

Thank you! I managed to get a support belt sorted so that's good at least :) I can't tell whether it helps, it seems to make my hips ache? I will try it tomorrow when I'm not walking as far.

HopefulB · 09/07/2021 07:21

@PurplePansy05 - fingers crossed you don’t want to send it back! If you do it may be worth looking at BonPrix - wasn’t somewhere I’d shopped before, but someone mentioned it on here. I’ve been happy with their maternity jeans and it looked like they had loads of coats!

Nearly the weekend ladies 😀 I’ve been on leave the last 2 days but still feel shattered & like we haven’t really done anything. Going to head to the botanical gardens today to see if I can refresh my photography skills before baby arrives!

PurplePansy05 · 09/07/2021 07:34

@HopefulB I know Bon Prix very well from the time I lived in Europe, there was also a German one called Quelle which was my mum's favourite (Bertie might have heard of it??) They used to be catalogues pre-internet Grin Oh what a time! They used to be good quality and you're right, they also do 3 in 1s, but all the nicer ones were completely gone! Worth keeping an eye out for them as we're going into the winter season, I think it's best to buy in advance. These things aren't cheap and sell out so fast! xx

BertieBotts · 09/07/2021 07:59

Not heard of Quelle but I'm really happy with the maternity/carrying sweater I got from Bon Prix :)

PurplePansy05 · 09/07/2021 08:02

Bertie, that's a flashback from times when trendy people used to have perms/the George Michael-when-in-Wham! hairstyles Grin So a while ago! Mum used to treat us every month Grin xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 09/07/2021 09:03

Ladies had to go to triage at around midnight yesterday. Got home at 2:15 am. Baby hadn't been moving for a couple of hours. The minute they put me on the ccg baby started kicking up a storm but I've also been getting braxton hicks so to be thorough they checked down there to make sure my cervix is closed. I got a 1 point for that. What I was told is that - good news as the cervix is not ready for a few more weeks.

I'm 34 weeks on Sunday! Just need baby to stay put and active.

I have a question though - since I was trying the new sleep technique yesterday where I wake up super early and go to sleep super early, all my meal and other timings were changed. Do you think that could affect baby movements too? Like baby changing pattern due to that?x

BertieBotts · 09/07/2021 09:34

Possibly, but it's also just quite random what seems to affect their patterns. Always a good idea to get checked anyway :)

PurplePansy05 · 09/07/2021 09:43

@Whatshouldbemyusername I'd agree with you, yes, it could seem different to you because of 'moving' your day slightly. I have slightly different patterns every weekend to how he moves during the week. It might be the case of being more or less aware at certain times of the day, but I know for a fact every Saturday I need a lie down to check on his movements because in my head they are different to the day before. I've concluded it's now basically the during the week pattern and the weekend pattern.

Has anyone noticed any difference with your hair? Mine is incredibly thick and unruly now, it's grown faster than I thought and I also have baby hair sticking out straight out of my forehead 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ How strange! xx
