@PurplePansy05 thanks for your concern. Will definitely share the results when I get them.

I'm sorry to hear about the Metformin, you must be so disappointed after being so good with diet and everything- but at least you can be proud of yourself that you did everything possible to avoid the meds. At least you've not got too long to go now. It'll all be worth it in the end!!

Caz1226 · 07/07/2021 11:57

Hi everyone
Had my 34 week app and my little one is breach so he’s got up to 37 weeks to move and if not I’m going in for a c section at 39 weeks
I’ve been told to look at spinning baby website that gives exercises to help him move- one says stand on your head in a swimming pool- I don’t think I’ll be doing that one haha xx

Fran919 · 07/07/2021 12:42

@PurplePansy05 sorry to hear that but hopefully light is at the end of the tunnel for x

@Caz1226 haha that seems crazy! Hopefully you can get them to turn! Did you mention about the sore bump?

I’m really struggling with work, it’s gone really stressful but still have 3 weeks to go and no idea what to do. I’m working 2/3 hours extra a day just to get stuff done with little to no breaks. Not sure what I can do though!

Caz1226 · 07/07/2021 13:20

@Fran919
Hiya, yes I did
They said it’s very common abs is down to stretching and your nerves stretching and becoming more sensitive
They said a lot of money get it round their belly button but very common where we have explained- nothing to worry about xx

Whatshouldbemyusername · 07/07/2021 13:28

Hello ladies,

Just had a call from the MW to say they've sent my blood for further analysis but it's showing I'm a carrier for beta thalasseamia which means my body isn't making enough haemoglobin. They have asked my DH to take a blood test next Tuesday when I have my 34 week appointment and if he's a carrier too chances are my baby will have 1 in 4 chances to have the condition 🤦🏽‍♀️

I was like I'm 35 years old why has this NEVER been picked up till now.

Anyways trying not to overthink and over read stuff on google .... breathing in and out.....

lucyrp · 07/07/2021 13:51

@Fran919 me too, I'm on my feet from 9-5.30 at the least with a half hour break mid afternoon if I'm lucky and all of sudden it's got very busy. I have 8 days off after this Saturday then 2 weeks of work before my maternity. Not sure how I'm going to cope but hope the time off helps recuperate but I know that's a bit too positive thinking

PurplePansy05 · 07/07/2021 14:59

@Whatshouldbemyusername I see it's all kicking off for you as well, lovely! Tbh I'm just on a countdown down and wish I could have him now and get this over and done with, things have got to me this week. I hope your tests go ok, it's not a nice place to be in when you're told blunt statistics and left to dwell on them, I feel for you. xx

biscuitcat · 07/07/2021 15:13

@PurplePansy05 oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that lovely, I know that's not what you were hoping for at all. Hopefully once the shock has worn off you'll feel a bit better about everything, but you've just had such a string of bad luck so I can so see why you're feeling like you just want it over and done with. Are you still thinking a planned c-section for your birth? It could be that everything feels a bit easier to deal with when you have a section/induction date booked in, as it's much easier to manage rubbish things when there's an end date! Xx

@Whatshouldbemyusername what a shock for you - have they offered any support or guidance for you? I hope your husband's blood tests come back clear xx

@lucyrp I'm exhausted just reading that! I hope your time off is useful to recuperate. I had to stand up for a couple of hours yesterday in a meeting and felt sore doing that so being on your feet all day must just be taking it out of you

Whatshouldbemyusername · 07/07/2021 15:14

@PurplePansy05 thanks love and am so sorry for all you're going through with the GD too. Almost at the end. All will be well. Lots of hugs to you.

I've had to get in touch with my siblings to tell them to get checked as well. My mum passed away over 2 years ago. But one of my parent had this gene and passed it to us. Just hoping DH is negative so then baby can at best just be a carrier and doesn't have to deal with any issues in his/her lifetime.

Just upset that I'm finding this out at 33 weeks and 3 days. I transferred to Queen Charlottes hospital 2 weeks ago and they did a blood test. St Thomas hospital who I was with were doing blood tests for me from the start and they didn't even pick anything up! NHS needs to have similar policies In place surrounding testing and pregnancy for all mums

Thanks for the support my darling. I'm not going to dwell on it too much to be honest as it's not healthy. Chances will be that DH is not a carrier then nothing to worry about isn't it x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 07/07/2021 15:15

@biscuitcat thanks my lovely. It's abit upsetting and yes just hoping husbands tests come back clear xxx

PurplePansy05 · 07/07/2021 15:21

@Whatshouldbemyusername I am pretty sure thalassemia should be tested early on in pregnancy, either booking apptor 12 weeks? I might be wrong but I'm positive it was in my notes early on, listed as one of the tests depending on your ethnicity/origin?

Thank you for your kind words, I just wish time goes fast between now and 39 weeks and all will be ok...

@biscuitcat Yes, it will be a planned section, I will be making arrangements next week on Weds with the diabetes clinic and the consultant. So around 4 weeks left for me now, but feels like another 40 right now! xx

PurplePansy05 · 07/07/2021 16:43

Also whilst I'm having a major moan about everything today, do you find your friends and family have suddenly gone OTT now? I don't understand why everyone needs to be texting me or calling every 2 days asking millions of questions, when is the baby due, not long now, have you got this, that and the other, is the renovation finished, when are you off on mat leave...FFS! I appreciate the interest, but really I haven't got the time now, I'm stressed and I want to be left alone in peace to focus on what needs to be done! It really isn't anyone else's business when I'm off or when I'm going to pop my son out, I will definitely not be announcing that it'll likely happen early and on a specific date, I feel they'd totally inundate me when I just need peace and quiet at the hospital. Argh. I know they mean well but it's too much! xx

HopefulB · 07/07/2021 17:18

@PurplePansy05 sorry to hear about the metformin, but take comfort that you did everything you could, and also that you’re getting the right treatment & monitoring. There is a leaflet on the UK Teratology Information Service (open access) if you want further reassurance about use of Metformin in pregnancy.

@Whatshouldbemyusername - that’s a bummer to find out at this stage! Fingers crossed your OH is not a carrier too. Again nothing you can do, so deep breaths and take each day as it comes, at least if you are both carriers baby will presumably be tested and have appropriate support from the start? Perhaps also worth talking over decisions about cord clamping with your MW/Consultant?

@lucyrp, I’d really struggle with a full day on my feet - really impressed you’re managing it! I’m mightily fed up with work too- way to much to try and sort before I go, but we have finally got permission to cover my leave (as an internal Secondment only - so pushing the vacancy further down the chain rather than addressing the issue!!)

lucyrp · 07/07/2021 18:09

@biscuitcat safe to say my feet are in bits when I get home. I usually use my days off to clean the house but realistically it doesn't need doing or so I'm trying to tell myself (it definitely doesn't I'm just a freak) so I'm planning on doing the school run and then staying on the sofa all day😴😴

@HopefulB not sure id say managing but I've done it! 6 days in a row on my feet so tomorrow its feet up on the sofa all day 😴

@PurplePansy05 oh yeah definitely don't tell them the day you're going into hospital or if you're in labour or anything like that, I made sure I told no one until he was born xx

lucyrp · 07/07/2021 18:13

Also this came in the post today for my hospital bag. Soo good

Daffodil21 · 07/07/2021 18:30

I was planning on telling my mum and my best friend - am I just really weird?! 😂

@lucyrp no idea how you're managing all day on your feet either!! I'm actually ok, but that's probably because I'm on mat leave and don't have to be on my feet at all if I don't want to! I bet you can't wait to finish!

BertieBotts · 07/07/2021 18:32

God I thought I'd have a nice calming day today. Took DS2 to the zoo (we have an annual pass) thinking it's a nice contained area so he can't run off. Well he climbed up to the third story of a giant play thing and then freaked out at the top so I had to climb all the way up to get him down! And then he sprinted out of the play area right into the path of the miniature train Shock I had to run after him to catch him. That was about 7 hours ago and it's completely fucked my pelvis, I can't walk now without agonising pain. It's got a little bit better since I took some paracetamol and lay down taking weight off it for about 90 mins but I still have to move very very slowly and carefully.

Hopefully DH can take him to nursery tomorrow because he's so nuts and full of energy. Then I can go and see about this support belt.

lucyrp · 07/07/2021 18:32

@Daffodil21

lucyrp · 07/07/2021 18:35

@Daffodil21 oh yeah I'll tell my mum and my best friend no doubt OH will tell his mum too but no one that I don't want moithering me 😂

Ready2020 · 07/07/2021 20:33

I had my vaccine yesterday and have been totally floored today 😔 just wiped out. Spent the day in bed napping or staring into space as I didn't have the energy to do anything else. Feel a little better now though. It's my first day of maternity leave today as well! Got lots to do.

Whatshouldbemyusername · 07/07/2021 21:02

@PurplePansy05 that's what the nurse said as well that should have been tested earlier based on my ethnicity but you know nhs. Different trusts make up their own bloody rules! 🤦🏽‍♀️

@HopefulB I know just gonna take it as it comes coz I can't do much to be honest and I don't want to stress about something that may or may not happen. Thanks. Defo worth speaking about cord bank now x

PurplePansy05 · 07/07/2021 22:32

Ah @BertieBotts that sounds pretty shit! How are you feeling now? Hope you're still resting and that tomorrow will be a quieter day fo you! Would a bath help tonight?

@Ready2020 Not a great first day, isn't it! Was it Pfizer? I've read quite a lot that the second dose might hit worse than the first one. It shouldn't be a long reaction though, hopefully tomorrow you'll feel more energetic! I'm waiting for mine, should be later this month xx

Ava50x · 07/07/2021 22:42

@Whatshouldbemyusername that sounds awful, finding out so late in the game! But you seem to have a positive attitude and honestly there's not much else you can do right now. Fingers crossed for a negative result from your DP.

@BertieBotts gosh sounds like you've had a real shit day. Hope you've managed to rest your pelvis a bit! Its no fun running after overactive toddlers at this stage, is it?? Finding it more impossible with each day!

Does anyone have good tips for sleeping??
Had an absolutely rubbish night last night, could not get comfortable in any position, was tossing and turning for hours! I hate having extra pillows in my bed as its such a faff to keep adjusting them but if anyone has recommendations for something that works- i'm open to all suggestions at this point!

Ready2020 · 07/07/2021 23:31

Sounds like a lot of us are having issues just now. While I'm not quite prepared in still ready for baby to come soon!

@PurplePansy05 it was Moderna and my first. I really hoped I wouldn't get a reaction but I guess it could be worse. A sore arm and a day in bed. Really need to get cracking tomorrow on sorting out clothes and hospital bag so hope I have the energy.

@Ava50x the only thing that makes me comfy is my pregnancy pillow and having the bed to myself plus windows open as I get hot very easily. Even then I still wake up after about 4 or 5 hours of sleep then get up for some cereal and a wander then back to bed again. I put a lavender spray on my pillow too which is nice but not sure how much it helps. I definitely sleep better after getting up though as otherwise all the moving about in bed can get sore on the old hips.

Not too rub it in but I'm so glad to be on maternity leave now. Though my head still thinks I'm going to log in the next day to work. Need to get in nesting mode instead!

Whatshouldbemyusername · 08/07/2021 07:09

How are we ladies? Speaking of maternity leave I still have 3 weeks left from next week and then 1 week annual leave and Mat leave from 9th august. Can't wait. Part of me feels like I should have taken it early but like all of us I want to spend more time with bubba when he/she is here 😃

@Ava50x thank you my love. That's all I can do at the moment right. Just very conscious that don't want to stress and affect baby 👶🏽🙏🏽😃 x

Also like you sleep had just disappeared for me. So from today my DH and I are trying something new. It's painful at this point but hoping it gets better. We're gonna get up almost when the suns up and chill in the balcony for 10 minutes having a cuppa and then hopefully that will get us to bed early at night. It's gonna take a few days to adjust but that's the hope.

@BertieBotts hope you had a good night sleep my darling and you're feeling better today x
