Ah glad you're ok @HopefulB! It's hard now, I feel like driving a new car, I don't know my dimensions. And I can't see my feet, I have to be so careful not to trip over my pets or on stairs. It's easily done, think it's time to really slow down, but I keep forgetting. Some people are so rude, that guy could have waited for you, it wouldn't do him harm! I had a delivery driver on Friday, came in with two rugs for our bedrooms, I opened the door (and my bump is really massive now and one cannot miss it) and he dumped them outside, I had to ask him if he could lift them over the step & threshold for me so I could drag them inside 🙄 I understand covid and doorstep delivery, but it was literally putting them over the threshold and I took on from there, socially distanced. Some people are just weird, zero imagination.

Thanks for sharing your birth stories Flowers I spent some time today reading various bits on NHS and different charities websites about birth options and feel a bit less scared and more informed now. I'm sure chatting to the MW and my consultant will help too & I'm planning to read up on hypnobirthing when DH and I go away for a few days next week (very excited about that! Taking all my books 😊). My NCT isn't until next month and disappointingly has been moved online, I remember most of yours have too. We're still doing it but only because there are no courses in person locally.

Haribo & Powerade added to my shopping list, thank you Bertie! xx

HopefulB · 06/06/2021 21:01

@PurplePansy05, enjoy the NCT- I think you’ll find it really helpful to talk through many situations/possibilities around birth with others.
Despite the classes being online, our group have organised F2F meet ups ourselves for walks, drinks etc which is nice, and have a BBQ planned for the last weekend before anyone’s due date! (The house is v close to the hospital we’re all under!!)

BertieBotts · 06/06/2021 21:21

I have been enjoying this channel on YT as well about birth. She is American but most of the info is transferable.

Here's one about induction:

biscuitcat · 06/06/2021 22:19

Oh no @HopefulB, I hope you're feeling alright, glad everything seems to be ok at the moment!

@PurplePansy05 such a pain of that delivery driver - it sounds like it's an instance of companies using covid as an excuse for poor service, which I've found is becoming more common!

Our NCT just started last week online - it's obviously not quite the same as in person but it worked surprisingly well. I find it exhausting being on video for that long though! We've set up a mums WhatsApp group and are arranging to meet up in person which will be lovely hopefully, so I hope yours is similar xx

We just got back from a heavenly few days in Cornwall - feeling very refreshed (and resentful that I have to work tomorrow!). But my biggest regret was not bringing my pregnancy pillow - I didn't realise how much of a difference it made until I went three nights without, I slept really badly and have been so sore - though walking far more than usual didn't help that either to be fair. So looking forward to my own bed tonight!

Ready2020 · 06/06/2021 22:49

@biscuitcat I love my pregnancy pillow so much but OH hates it as it takes up a lot of room. I've got the bed to myself now and sleeping much better for it.

I'm back at work tomorrow after being off for 10 days for the move. It's gone so fast. 2 weeks at work, 1 week off to go away up north then 1 week back at work then it's maternity leave! Can't wait. Though I did think to myself today what am I going to do with myself. Hope I've got the energy to do things rather than slob about.

My hypnobirthing course starts on Tuesday. Looking forward to it a lot.

We ordered a new sofa today from DFS and it looks like the baby will be here before the sofa is ready! 😂😢 Oh well.

Daffodil21 · 07/06/2021 08:24

Has anyone got any tips for sore hips at night? A pillow under my hips was doing the trick but not anymore! I wake up with them aching so much, I just want to lay on my back but obviously can't!

OP posts:
Ready2020 · 07/06/2021 09:09

@Daffodil21 I had similar issues last night and find that if I go on my back kinda but wedge my pregnancy pillow under my butt cheek then it's enough to relieve the pressure on my hips but not be fully on my back. If you get what I mean...

alittlexmasmagic · 07/06/2021 09:28

@Daffodil21 see if you can use pillows to prop you up slightly. I have 2x heavy Tempur pillows which I have parallel and sleep between. So I can roll onto my front or back and never be completely flat if that makes sense?
My Kally pregnancy pillow has been evicted for now.x

Daffodil21 · 07/06/2021 09:37

Thanks @Ready2020 and @alittlexmasmagic I'll give that a try!

Inmypjsagain · 07/06/2021 12:05

@HopefulB glad to hear you’re okay!

Can some of you really not see your feet!! Wow. My belly still has a lot of growing to do!

Does anyone still feel a weird sort... not denial... not necessarily detachment... But this weird can’t believe it’s happening feeling? When I’m talking about stuff it feels like I’m going through the motions but I don’t actually think it’s happening to me? Like an out of body experience?! I’m not verbalising this well but I saw friends on Saturday night and they’re asking what I’ve done, what I’ve bought etc and they were surprised how little we seem to be prepped. Nct starts next week for me too and it almost feels like, why do I need this? I think maybe I’m being hormonal but I just feel... weird! Maybe it’s just because I can’t get my head round a baby being here in 9 weeks!!!

Inmypjsagain · 07/06/2021 12:19

Also @Ready2020 sofa wait times are ridiculous! You could generally grow at least a third of a baby In their usual timescales!!!

Ready2020 · 07/06/2021 12:28

@Inmypjsagain I can just see my toes!

I still feel like I'm in this surreal bubble of it not being real. Like I know I'm pregnant and I can feel her in there but I don't associate the scan pictures with what is in my stomach. I can't accept she will be fully mine until she is here and in my arms. Then reality will hit I'm sure! We've not done a whole lot tbh. Pretty much everything we have for baby was given to us so I don't feel prepared for it.

I'm doing my hypnobirthing and nct courses over the next 2 months so I'm relying on them to get me ready and focused and brought back to reality that this is happening as otherwise I think when I start to feel the pains of labour I'll probably freak out.

I think it's kinda crazy that I was able to get pregnant and will have a baby soon but I've not had to do any sort of test to show I'm fit to look after her 😂

Due August 2021 - Third Trimester!
dirtyfries · 07/06/2021 12:30

@inmypjsagain yes! I keep being told I'm amazingly calm/chilled and that pregnancy 'suits me' but I think it's because I feel so sort of separate from it all still.
I know exactly what you mean

Is anyone else suffering from PUPP? The itching is driving me mad now, DH keeps waking me up because I'm scratching in my sleep Blush

PurplePansy05 · 07/06/2021 12:43

@Inmypjsagain I am well prepped in terms of ticking stuff off the list, what to buy, what to build etc. but I absolutely feel the same way about the prospect of having a baby for life in 9 weeks' time. Although I know very well he's there, nearly ready, and I couldn't imagine him not being here anymore and I love him, it doesn't feel like motherhood is happening to me. I don't know if I'm good enough. I don't really know what's coming. I can't imagine never being alone or mine and DH's lives changing so much. I am worried I will fail to protect him one day. I think it's the fear and our brain sensing that a big change is coming but at the same time trying to protect us because it's such a massive unknown. I really don't know how to describe my feelings accurately.

Thank you @WolfMother326 I think your post may have made its way to the previous thread, but I did see it Flowers You're totally right.

@Daffodil21 That's been my issue since week 16. The only thing that works for me is if I put my Ushaped pregnancy pillow between the thighs/knees and then the knee that goes on top of the pillow needs to touch the bed on the other side of the pillow. This is the only position that truly relieves hip pain for me. As others suggested, wedging it under the bum on the other side also helps, but to me not as much as the knee trick. Sadly it's getting more difficult to do this now because of the size of the bump, but I'm still trying! xx

Ava50x · 07/06/2021 13:25

Hi all,

Thanks for the new thread @Daffodil21. Gotta catch up on the last few pages, seems like everyone's got their fair share of aches & pains!
Anyone else suffering from sciatica? Its hit me suddenly and i'm going mad with the pain and discomfort. Thinking of going to a chiropractor because I'm not handling this very well...

Daffodil21 · 07/06/2021 13:28

@Inmypjsagain 100%. I actually started a separate thread on this because I didn't want to be negative on this one! I know a lot of it comes from our history but even without that I think I would struggle to believe there's actually a human being in there?!!

I can see my feet! Just had to check 😂 not sure for how much longer though!

OP posts:
LottSE20 · 07/06/2021 13:30

@PurplePansy05 that sounds like how I sleep too but I’m finding it hard not to squash my bump (and I find I get loads of kicks on the side pressing against the best which I - probably irrationally - wonder if it’s the baby protesting at being squished!).

BertieBotts · 07/06/2021 13:31

I can't get my head around there being another baby here soon either. You would think I would be used to it by the third one. No, I think it's just the totally weird nature of pregnancy!

Daffodil21 · 07/06/2021 13:51

I can't tell you how much of a relief it is to see you're all feeling the same, even if you already have DC!

Thanks all for sharing x

OP posts:
PurplePansy05 · 07/06/2021 14:02

@LottSE20 My thoughts exactly! But then I also think movements always get stronger when you're lying on the side, don't they, so maybe it's that? My son is always having a party time when I'm on my side in the late afternoon, eve and overnight, a sign of things to come?! 😳🤦🏼‍♀️ xx

Smurf123 · 07/06/2021 14:09

@Daffodil21 I've felt the same really. I think given histories it's always hard too.
Well I now have ds age 3 at home with me while I work from home - his bubble has had 2 cases of slap cheek in the past week and dr has advised keeping him away for now just in case as I'm not immune. Coincidentally he also had a temp and a rash on his back and tummy last weekend (same time as first slapped cheek case) out of hours told us it was immune response to him having tonsillitis. Having talked to go today she has said there's no way of knowing but she thinks we can't rule out that actually that rash was him also having slapped cheek. So I'm to get my bloods checked for immunity again on Thursday this week. I'm trying not to overthink it.
Having a toddler at home with wfh in this heat with builders in the backyard is not ideal mind you 🙈plus I have hospital appts every 2 weeks which I obviously can't take ds too which is difficult.

WolfMother326 · 07/06/2021 14:56

Oops! Thanks @PurplePansy05 for replying here, now I'll be following the correct thread.

biscuitcat · 07/06/2021 15:15

@Inmypjsagain I can so relate to that - all the buying prams and baby clothes just feels like pretend play at the moment! My mum has said for her it didn't feel real until baby actually arrived so I think I'll be the same as that - no avoiding that there's actually a baby there then!

@dirtyfries I'm not but I had hideous itching earlier in the pregnancy for a few weeks, I broke blood vessels from scratching so badly so every sympathy, it's horrible! I'm sure your GP will have suggested this, but I found taking loratidine cleared mine up - I think PUPP could be different because there's a specific cause and we never found out what mine was, but worth a shot if you've not yet tried?

dirtyfries · 07/06/2021 16:25

thanks @biscuitcat

I actually started on the loratidine today! It's the only thing that works for my hay fever so fingers crossed it'll have a double whammy effect and I won't be quite so itchy soon Grin

HopefulB · 07/06/2021 17:11

@Daffodil21, I have a similar sleep set up to what @PurplePansy05 and @LottSE20 describe - pillow between the knees.
However I used to do this Pre-preg post ovulation as I got hip flexor pain then, so the only change is now I use a squishy longer bolster type pillow so I can have an edge under bump too!
