Glad all is ok @BertieBotts

Sorry to hear about the itchiness @PurplePansy05, fingers crossed it’s not cholestasis.

Hugs to everyone with 3rd trimester niggles. We’re nearly there, we can do it.

ame88 · 28/06/2021 08:02

Thanks for all the back pain advice! I'm thanking my lucky stars I'm WFH / it would be 10 times worse with a commute!

BertieBotts · 28/06/2021 08:18

Ugh all the late pregnancy niggles are really hitting a lot of us all at once, aren't they?!

I have to go to my normal doctor today for a follow up but it should all be OK I think. Just having some breakfast. I didn't get back home until nearly midnight Shock Baby has moved and is head down so DH and I wondered if maybe this is why the movements feel different.

alittlexmasmagic · 28/06/2021 08:20

@ame88 so sorry to hear you're suffering now too. I've just had a physio referral and she's going to send me a bump band and some exercises. Will post links when I can.
I'm practically living in the bath every evening as that's what helps me the most. Need DH on hand after to climb out though.
@BertieBotts so glad everything is okay x

Whatshouldbemyusername · 28/06/2021 08:38

@BertieBotts am so glad all is ok. As @Smurf123 said the movements for me have changed too. I barely felt anything all of yesterday. So at night I told DH that I'm gonna wait for an hour and if nothing go to triage. I broke down and was so concerned. I told him to talk to baby and turned on some light music etc. He did that for 10 ish minutes and after that baby was so so active. Started kicking and moving for a whole hour! Pretty much constant.

I have my 32 week scan booked in at 4:30 today so I will know what's happening. I'm not working today and still in bed but I can feel baby moving so it's all good.

Am sorry for all those getting aches - were almost there. @PurplePansy05 keep us informed too. I've still got nagging heel pain that comes and goes

BertieBotts · 28/06/2021 09:04

The doctor I saw last night said it's always always the right thing to get checked if you're concerned in any way at all because the baby can't tell you whether they are OK. You can only know with that check. It took up my whole evening and this morning too but defo feel reassured that everything is OK now.

Fran919 · 28/06/2021 09:36

Glad everyone has been ok if they’ve gone in for reduced movements!

I’ve just self referred for physio through my private work insurance, the back pain has increased to where I can’t sleep in one position for more than an hour so exhausted. I’m WFH but struggling with my set up but don’t know whether it’s worth to try and bring any leave forward. I’m 31 weeks, officially go off at 39 but have annual leave starting from 30/07.

biscuitcat · 28/06/2021 09:41

@BertieBotts glad to hear you're OK - the care over in Germany sounds really comprehensive? Hope you can have a restful day after being up so late xx

@PurplePansy05 oh no, it's all happening at once for you isn't it? I hope it's not cholestasis for you. Only a couple of weeks now till we're at term, which might be reassuring to reach?

I've definitely reached the constantly exhausted stage now - I've slept really well the past few nights but within less than 2 hours of waking up today I already felt like I could go right back to bed and sleep. Regretting working until fairly late now, I wish I had finished a week or two earlier as it would all feel more manageable now!

We also had some news that I was really hoping wouldn't happen - my youngest sister is hoping to move to Australia (her boyfriend is Australian), but was having a total nightmare with her visa because of covid. I was secretly very pleased, but her job has now been put on the list which makes it easier to get in and it looks like she'll be gone before baby arrives which is a bit rubbish, as we don't know when she'll meet him/her now 😔

alittlexmasmagic · 28/06/2021 09:55

@Fran919 I've done similar. Finish at 40 wks, A/L from 38. I've then used A/L to break the working week up, rather than shorten the finish time. Really just trying not to be sat for 4 days at a time, so work Mon, Wed, Thurs and the last two weeks just Mon & Wed. Aim is to go swimming etc on those days off and ease the aches x

WolfMother326 · 28/06/2021 10:02

@BertieBotts glad you're ok - always a good idea to go get checked.

@PurplePansy05 oh no! I hope you find out what's going on with the itchiness and it's nothing serious.

Last night we went to an in person antenatal course in London. It was Bump and Baby, not NCT, and it was pretty great. The first session was focused on birth and I already know most of it from reading, but my husband found it all really helpful as it was very detailed. Next week is focused on bringing the baby home - hoping it will be just as good. It was also nice to be in a room with a bunch of other pregnant women (even if we were socially distanced!)

Been feeling extremely tired and hungry but otherwise not many symptoms this past weekend. Baby is bashing around in there all the time making sleep tricky at night, so adding extra naps when I can.

BertieBotts · 28/06/2021 10:18

Oh no that sounds really tough. My dad and Stepmum looked at emigrating to Australia when I was 16 and in the end they couldn't go because illness pushed the timescale back and then they were past the age cut off. I was secretly glad Blush hopefully this covid will all clear up though and you'll be able to gave wonderful holidays out there.

I was so surprised but do feel very well cared for. Sadly they wanted me to come to my doctor this morning for a follow up so not too restful but it does seem they are doing my normal check up today so I'll get a free day on Thursday instead.

Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 10:29

I'm back at work today after having last week off and only have this week and 2 days (well 1.5 as have midwife and vaccine appointment on Tuesday) next week. Got about 90 emails to get through from last week. Really seems totally pointless to me now but I guess I'm still being paid for my time!

I got a bump support in the post yesterday so hoping that will ease the tummy muscles. My back has been OK but my tummy muscles are not dealing with this extra weight.

There are so many house things I want done but really shouldn't be doing them (grass cut, weeding, moving boxes etc) but I have lost count how many times I've asked OH to do or to help do them. Wish I could just blast through it all in one afternoon! I'm not great at relying on other people doing things for me.

alittlexmasmagic · 28/06/2021 10:38

@Ready2020 can you pay someone to do the garden for you for the rest of the summer? One less thing to worry about.
Also, college and uni summer holidays are on so do you know anyone with teenage/young adults at home who'd happily shift a few boxes for a bit of cash?x

Daffodil21 · 28/06/2021 10:48

@Ready2020 yep, our garden is like a jungle atm! I'm beyond caring, I'm certainly not going to crack the lawn mower out!

PurplePansy05 · 28/06/2021 11:00

Thanks girls, I will update later this week. Struggling to concentrate today with all this going on, I didn't need an extra thing on my mind right now, but it is what it is. xx

Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 11:14

My OH would freak if I paid someone else to do it. But suggesting it might get him moving... 🤔 He's a bit of a tightwad. Typical Aberdonian 😂

I just don't want our new neighbours to think I don't care about what our garden looks like. Not that I should care what they think but still.

wimbler · 28/06/2021 11:14

@PurplePansy05 got everything crossed for you.

I’m on annual leave now but my mat leave doesn’t officially start until 2 days before my due date. I just had so much AL to use. I’ve done the predictable thing of cramming a lot into my first week off work that now I’m exhausted. I’m finding it really difficult to fall asleep at night as well. My whole body feels like it’s jittery and a get a rising panic feeling until I move position. It’s horrible

Caz1226 · 28/06/2021 11:22

Hi ladies
I’m finishing on 30th July, taking 2 weeks annual leave so I’m on countdown but I agree I keep going ok long walks with the dog just to get out and about because I’m WFH but my back is aching now and I struggle to sleep!
I think maybe I should have finished sooner but I wanted to add my left over annual leave onto the end- hoping to be off for 12 months!
Just can’t wait for him to be here now and to see what he looks like ☺️

Ava50x · 28/06/2021 11:59

@BertieBotts glad everything is OK with you, and they were thorough with their checks.

@PurplePansy05 I get this crazy itching in my palms and fingertips as well... Hope its nothing for you, will call my GP about it later.

@WolfMother326 I think i've mentioned this in the past, in my trust they routinely offer screening for GBS. I was offered it at my last appointment but told the midwife i'd rather do it much closer to my due date. Its so crazy how the NHS works... But like others have said its definitely worth paying privately for.

It seems like the third trimester aches and pains have definitely hit us all! I'm suffering with bad sciatica in my hip going down my foot, and terrible stitch-like pain in my belly. I think its from stretching but terribly painful and I can't move until it passes.

But I guess we've not got too long to go now so that makes it easier!

Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 13:25

Well I'm shocked to say my OH has agreed to pay someone to do the garden. He hates gardening, it's more my thing but I didn't think he hated it that much. But that's fine by me.

I'm doing most of my work from the laptop on the comfy seat in the lounge. It means a smaller screen but happier back.

Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 13:25

Plus I can watch the tennis.... 😬

lucyrp · 28/06/2021 14:28

Oh I'm loving mowing the grass at the moment 😂🤣🤣 have to do it myself otherwise I could ask and ask OH but he has actually been pretty good recently

Inmypjsagain · 28/06/2021 16:35

Hi All!

Sound like it’s been a bit of a stressful weekend, hope everyone is doing ok now, hopefully feeling reassured and less itchy? Bit jealous of your garden problems, only perk of a flat is no lawn to mow?!

I am currently hooked up to a ctg machine after my midwife appointment as she couldn’t find baby’s heartbeat… it’s there!!! Had normal movements but still caused a panic! She could see my stomach moving in the appointment but as she couldn’t locate referred me to triage.

TMI question- is anyone noticing they’re getting increased discharge? I keep being paranoid it’s my waters…

Inmypjsagain · 28/06/2021 16:37

“ It seems like the third trimester aches and pains have definitely hit us all! I'm suffering with bad sciatica in my hip going down my foot, and terrible stitch-like pain in my belly. I think its from stretching but terribly painful and I can't move until it passes. ” @Ava50x I could have written this word for word! The stitch is on my left side and it feels like my skin rubbing against the baby or something. Have you been referred to the physio? I was for pgp and sciatica, it helps a little!

Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 17:09

@Inmypjsagain I have been secretly worrying about discharge throughout my whole pregnancy. I've no idea what's normal. I'm pretty sure I got thrush treatment when I didn't need it but I was paranoid I had it. I do notice an increase in the non white discharge. I've had both and have mentioned to midwife before but she says it's all fine. I'm guessing we'll have no doubt if it's water breaking....
