@Inmypjsagain yes constantly re the discharge but it seems I also keel getting recurrent thrush which doesn't help matters! I also worry about waters leaking but fluid levels seemed good at last scan so fingers crossed!

I've got a reflexology appt tonight. I'm hoping it might help with some of the aches and pains. I've been referred to physio for my back but no appt date yet.
Im drinking gaviscon each evening .. Hate the stuff but the other thing that seems to be stopping me vomiting with heartburn/acid reflux.

How's everyone finding the heat? NI has a heat wave (for us!) this week... To be a min of 21 every day to at least the weekend. I'm roasted!

Hope everyone is well!!

MM1993 · 28/06/2021 17:29

Aches and pains here too! Was given a telephone physio appointment which was pointless and never actually got to see anyone. Lower back pain is now so bad that I'm waddling/limping everywhere. Have had problems with my back my whole life so was to be expected I guess - prob didn't help that I've been up a ladder the past 2 days filling a wall 🤣

WolfMother326 · 28/06/2021 17:35

So I asked my consultant about the group strep b test and she said I can have it through the NHS, but recommended I do it privately as the nhs test is not 'gold standard'. Has anyone heard this? I'm more inclined to get it through the hospital as I don't want to have to deal with sending a swab but perhaps I should do it privately if more effective?

Smurf123 · 28/06/2021 17:54

@WolfMother326 yes I've heard that.. The gbss.uk website says the same. On nhs they do a hvs test which has a 50% false negative rate. The other test is much much more accurate

Smurf123 · 28/06/2021 17:57

With either test testing positive for gbs is highly accurate. But with the NHS hvs there's only a 50 % chance of testing negative when your actually positive for it!

PurplePansy05 · 28/06/2021 19:27

So I had a call with the consultant MW this morning and when she heard my symptoms she wasn't happy to wait till Wednesday with OC testing and send me to hospital immediately. I spent 6 hours at the OAU...blood tests, CTG, they said to wait for the results, but then had a couple of emergencies so the wait was really long. I managed to finish my pregnancy/birth book.

Good news is I don't have OC and my bile levels are low. Liver function also OK. However, they are concerned about my symptoms, especially in combination with GD and said that I need to have weekly monitoring from now on to see if OC is developing. I hope it won't, it's the final stretch now at nearly 34 weeks and I just keep everything crossed it won't have enough time to progress!

Baby boy moving really well too, was lovely to hear him. 💙

So it is a pretty much guaranteed planned C-section for me, question is whether we can make it till 39 weeks or if it's going to have to be sooner. I hope not!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes FlowersFlowersFlowers xx

HopefulB · 28/06/2021 19:42

Good timing for the MW call then @PurplePansy05! Also good that you are being monitored closely.

Rib/chest pain completely gone today & reassuring routine 31week appt with GP.

Daffodil21 · 28/06/2021 19:50

Glad they're keeping a close eye on you @PurplePansy05 x

@PurplePansy05 I keep seeing this thread pop up so posting in case it's of interest:

Thanks girls @HopefulB @Daffodil21!

I saw that thread, I posted there but these girls seem to all know each other well as they were diagnosed earlier than me, and they aren't as far along, so it was semi-helpful. I'm just on the final countdown now, tbh! xx

Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 22:07

Typical after talking about discharge that I've had this weird jelly like stuff after wiping on the loo. Never had that before! Off to Google....

Daffodil21 · 28/06/2021 22:10

@Ready2020 I've had that a couple of times too

OP posts:
Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 22:13

I think it could be wee bits of the mucus plug. Which happens during the last few weeks of pregnancy apparently.

Daffodil21 · 28/06/2021 22:15

@Ready2020 that's what google told me too.. apparently it can regenerate itself too?

I'm a little tempted to show the photo I took to my midwife at my app tomorrow just out of curiosity 😂😳

OP posts:
alittlexmasmagic · 28/06/2021 22:20

Anyone else find the mucus plug to be the cherry on top of the extremely unattractive plate that is pregnancy?
Whoever said pregnancy is a beautiful thing wants their head examining x

biscuitcat · 28/06/2021 22:26

I find pictures I've seen of the mucus plug weirdly satisfying 😂 definitely not beautiful but I think it reminds me of those aliens in eggs you used to get at primary school. I've also put into my birth plan that I want a look at the placenta too though, so it might just be I quite like gross things!

Watching Love Island tonight and baby is very active, think I'm growing another little trash TV junkie...

Daffodil21 · 28/06/2021 22:35

@biscuitcat also watching love island and also think I'm growing a trash tv junkie as he's very active tonight too 😂

OP posts:
Ready2020 · 28/06/2021 22:59

@biscuitcat yes I put that in my plan about the placenta too! I love stuff like that.

PurplePansy05 · 29/06/2021 00:15

Now you've made me google mucus plug...

@biscuitcat I was doing exactly the same and my baby boy was very active too 😂 DH was like, don't you be getting ideas for your career 😂 I then fell asleep and here I am, wide awake with any achey hip....yay 😁 xx

lucyrp · 29/06/2021 06:20

@biscuitcat @Ready2020 you guys are odd 😂 I remember the midwife flopping my placenta into a tray that resembled the ones in high school for dissecting animals and lifting bits of the placenta up and telling me what it was literally straight after i'd given birth and thinking wtf do I want to see that for 😂

BertieBotts · 29/06/2021 08:41

Ooh I loved seeing my placenta and cord! I was a bit too out of it though so I asked both XP and DH to take a photo for me to look at later and I'm pretty sure neither of them did Grin

Ready2020 · 29/06/2021 09:44

I had to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy a few years back and while the endoscopy traumatised me for life, the colonoscopy was really interesting and I watched the video of my own insides, fascinated at it all. I did train as a vet nurse to be fair so I've seen my share of operations etc.

I had another night of waking up randomly awake and bouncing at 4am. I find in those circumstances literally the only thing that will relax me is to have an orgasm 😬🤭 but these days I don't like doing that as it tightens all the insides too much the next day. Need to find another way to release the pent up energy in my body I think. More walking 😂

Whatshouldbemyusername · 29/06/2021 10:37

Ladies, had a growth scan yesterday at 32+1 and all is looking good. Baby weighs approx 3 pound 12 ounces and is looking healthy. It's head down but in back to back position so hoping it turns over.

All this talk about placenta - have you ladies heard of eating your placenta? The thought of that just made me gag! Apparently there's places that do placenta encapsulation and that post partum it has a lot of benefits of eating your placenta.

PurplePansy05 · 29/06/2021 11:58

Congratulations @Whatshouldbemyusername Flowers Lovely news. xx

Oh dear, some of these fancy ideas make me gag, I must admit. I am kind of old-fashioned here. 🙈

I had a call from a different MW at the hospital who tried to convince me that my OC blood tests will only take place as a one-off if they're fine, not on a weekly basis. This is in direct contradiction to what I've discussed with the doctor only yesterday. She wound me up so much that for the first time ever I've resorted to telling her bluntly that she's rude and that I lost three babies and will not be fobbed off by her and if she doesn't do what's asked of her then I demand to speak to a doctor to confirm the arrangements. She refused and told me she wasn't rude, I didn't back down and said it's not for her to decide on the arrangements or on whether I consider her rude or not. I then read out my notes to her which back up what I've been saying, she put me through to the receptionist who finally explained they only arrange the first appointment in the series and I need to book weekly follow ups myself when I'm there. Why couldn't the MW say it? Instead, she was trying to convince me that it was only ever going to be a one-off check and that I should get a cream or some meds if I'm still itching.

Ffs. How difficult can it be to understand the weekly monitoring has been put in place to check if the condition develops and that it has to continue for as long as I have the itching and if the results come back worrying then it will impact on birth options. Why does everything need to be uphill with maternity services most of the time. 🙄

I shouldn't have to stress out or ask for what has already been recommended as if they were doing me a favour.

Sorry, I'm really tired and in a bad mood, I needed to vent. Really getting to the end of my tether now. xx

Ready2020 · 29/06/2021 12:15

@PurplePansy05 they don't make it easy do they! My sister needs blood tests on a Tuesday for chemo on a Thursday (every 3 weeks) and she got a call yesterday saying they were un able to take her for bloods today. Which basically means she would not get her chemo! Which is obviously unacceptable. Turns out they could find a way around it but it really stressed her out.

Sorry for your stress ❤️
