@WolfMother326 I think a standard swan test will check for strep b. I'd be tempted to say you have discharge you want to get checked tbh just go get one. I know I shouldn't think like that but I personally think strep b is something that should be checked as standard. I know it's not because sometimes it can show later on after a clear test but I still don't know why it isn't routine.

@Ready2020 sorry you're feeling so awful. How are you doing today?

Hospital bag all packed and last bits of crib bedding are washing. Completely ready for this 🙄😂

I'm going to ask for a swab test at my next midwife app on Tuesday because I do actually have some discharge that I want checking out (sorry tmi!) I bet karma bites me on the arse!

I had intended to book a private one with ds in last pregnancy but then I had it detected in my urine at around 35 weeks so was started on antibiotics plus then iv antibiotics in labour.
Usually if you are in for something else they can test for it on the same swab/ urine sample. I think they just don't do it because a negative result isn't alway reliable. I still would prefer it done mind you.
Because I have had it detected in urine before they gave me the option of swab later in pregnancy or to refuse the test and automatically take the iv antibiotics which is what my consultant recommended to do. Does mean being hooked up to iv during labour though which many would prefer to avoid. Id prefer the cautionary approach of antibiotics.

Ready2020 · 26/06/2021 20:03

@Daffodil21 thanks, better today. Bath and rest helped a lot.

I was thinking about the strep B test too. I've got my next midwife appointment on 6 July so think I'll ask then. Though might be a little late by then. Maybe it'll be on the NHS in Scotland.

Baby box arriving on Monday too! I know it's only in Scotland but still excited for it.

Daffodil21 · 26/06/2021 20:10

@Ready2020 I asked my midwife if I could have strep b test and she said they don't do it routinely. But she did say it would have been picked up in the swab I had done the week before. My baby box has been dispatched as well 😱😱

@Daffodil21 ah well. I've looked into getting a private test so will probably go down that route. £38 quid well spent.

I've had a very self inflicted bad night's sleep. Had my 2 sisters and mum around last night and we indulged in Chinese takeaway and eating rubbish. So of course went to bed on a sugar high and woke up at 4am pretty hungry for something more substantial. Still awake now.... Though not got a very stressful day ahead with spa and an afternoon tea!

Last full week at work next week! Woo.

BertieBotts · 27/06/2021 08:22

I had the GBS test last time, you want to have it as close to your due date as possible otherwise it can be inaccurate, the number of false positives is really high.

ame88 · 27/06/2021 08:51

Is anyone else suffering from a bad back? Mine is killing me! Having to change seating positions every 30 minutes or so and carrying around my pregnancy pillow like a handbag!

northernsquirrel · 27/06/2021 12:10

@ame88 I get back pain on an evening so going to look for a support band. Apparently they only recommend for wearing a few hours at a time though x

lucyrp · 27/06/2021 16:40

@ame88 I just have pain everywhere this morning I couldn't get comfortable in any position, lying down, sitting, standing it was tiring then I had to come to work 😩

Smurf123 · 27/06/2021 17:32

@ame88 my ribs, back and hips hurt... Pretty much all over. Sleeping, sitting and walking is uncomfortable to say the least.. The ribs is a new one today..

wimbler · 27/06/2021 17:45

@ame88 have you tried a few yoga poses like cat cow or just kneeling on the floor whilst leaning on a yoga ball. Can take the weight off your back and usually feels really good for me at least!

biscuitcat · 27/06/2021 18:13

@ame88 I've been suffering but bought a pregnancy support belt which has been making a big difference - I managed to take the dog on a walk twice as long as I can usually do without getting sore today which was so lovely, I've really missed being able to do that.

Hope everyone's had a lovely weekend - it went far too quickly, can't believe it's work again tomorrow!

HopefulB · 27/06/2021 18:31

@Smurf123, I’m just back from MAU as I called about chest/rib pain!
Worried I was over reacting, by calling, but they suggested I come in for a check up.

All ok, no other signs/symptoms of a PE or heart problem for me and bump is happy too. Phew. Not what I had planned for Sunday afternoon!

PurplePansy05 · 27/06/2021 19:43

I think my LO is so big now he's actually kicking me in my ribs, or it's the way he's moving now that is causing me rib pain too. I'm glad some of you mentioned it, I thought I was going a bit crazy. xx

PurplePansy05 · 27/06/2021 19:44

I don't feel like I can take a deep breath now either, it takes a lot of effort. My lungs feel squished xx

BertieBotts · 27/06/2021 20:11

I'm on the monitor at hospital now for reduced movement :( everything seems to be fine though? Heartbeat seems normal. Just been really odd today like sluggish and not responding to the normal things. They are really nice but I heard a woman screaming in labour when I came in 🙈🙈🙉🙉🙉🙉 oh! And a baby just cried!

Smurf123 · 27/06/2021 20:24

@HopefulB I didn't realise rib pain was a sign of pe? Glad your OK!
I think it's prob just where baby is I'm not sure.
I've felt really nauseous all day too..
I feel like my movements have changed today. Im feeling some but they just don't feel the same. Can't even really describe it.
Hope all ok @BertieBotts

PurplePansy05 · 27/06/2021 20:50

You ok @BertieBotts? xx

HopefulB · 27/06/2021 21:17

Oh no @BertieBotts, I hope all is ok.

Chest pain more than rib pain is potentially a sign of a PE. I have a thrombophillia, but not high risk enough to be on preventative anticoagulant injections, so on high alert!

I thought movements were different too, more distant/lighter/fluttery & perhaps less frequent but wasn’t sure if that was just me being so distracted with issues at work that I wasn’t noticing as much….,,

Ready2020 · 27/06/2021 21:18

Hope all is well @BertieBotts

BertieBotts · 27/06/2021 21:27

Yes everything is fine! Thank you. They have been extremely thorough and even given me a scan to check blood flow in the cord, placenta and the baby's brain. Doctor has to rush away again but she made sure to say before she left that she's happy and there are no problems. She will come back to explain in a minute.

BertieBotts · 27/06/2021 21:48

Or longer than a minute :o

lucyrp · 28/06/2021 06:02

@PurplePansy05 I'm definitely getting rib kicks, almost like a kick into the ribs and then they dig their foot in and push around to the side 🤢😩

My whole body constantly feels like the feeling you get when you're light headed when the blood rushes through you, when I'm stood at work that's what I feel like combined with the fact that breathing is hard work 😰

PurplePansy05 · 28/06/2021 07:09

Glad all is OK, Bertie.

I have a call with my MW and then a GD appointment on Weds. I now have itchy soles of my feet in the eve/night and some general itchiness, including palms of my hands. It might just be pregnancy/dry skin, but I'm getting worried it's obstetric cholestasis, apparently it can be linked to GD. I just so hope it's not that, I really don't understand why all this would suddenly hit me when I've been fine, and I'm still genuinely ok. Worried about having to give birth early now 😔😔😔 Ugh. Xx
