lol day time tv sucks so far the ony form of work that i have done is get dressed, felt like i needed to get up and clean stuff round bout midnight, but that seems to have passed now!

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 13:34

insy - was just thinking the same thing (about loose women) - even work isn't as bad as that!

Ambi · 27/11/2007 13:35

Clara my BF?s waters broke whilst on the loo, she said it was really strange cos she knew she had finished weeing, but was then stuck there cos the water wouldn?t stop.

Clairey my kitchen is a mess too, but so damn tired I?m going for a nap first before attempting it.

Bacon butties for lunch were divine, though should have stopped before the pack of skittles.

Bouncingturtle · 27/11/2007 13:35

I've just had my lunch after returning from Bumps and Babes session, was good, nice turn out, met my "Buddy" who is lovely. Few bumps and a few babies, youngest was 2 weeks old. Was in awe of his mum breastfeeding whilst drinking a cup of coffee and eating a choccie biscuit - now that's multitasking .

Ambi · 27/11/2007 13:36

Loose women is like the AIBU threads... ladies ranting, maybe that's why I'm sadistically drawn to it

Wizzska · 27/11/2007 13:50

Bunny - that pool sounds lovely, am almost considering getting one now from your description. Wasn't thinking of a water birth.

Bouncing that's the best thing that I remember about bf-after a couple of weeks I could do it completely hands free which was great for eating and drinking purposes! Plus you have a valid excuse for sitting on the sofa for hours on end (although I'm not sure dd will think so which is why this time I've got a sling which I can bf in!)

DD refused to nap afterall so I gave in and got her up again-even climbing the stairs felt like too much! I then decided to hang washing up while I was on my feet and dd "helped" so it took three times as long! Have now unashamedly stuck the telly onto cbeebies and am using it as a babysitter while I sit down-I have also provided her with grapes though so she is happy!

SarahPT · 27/11/2007 13:52

Thanks for the advice on the birthing pools everybody.

MW said to me this morning that she's never had anyone have a bad experience with them and that she'd use one if she had another baby so am def going to ask for it

there's only one at the hospital so it just depends if someone else beats me to it !

ps must admit to being drawn to loose women too !

PeckaRolloverAgain · 27/11/2007 13:52

Hi everyone, attempted to catch up with messages but taking too long and I have nesting to do!!!

Going to clean all my downstairs floors on hands and knees as Im worried baby is slipping to a posterior position!

The most christmassy I have got so far is the lovely Turkey, stuffing and cranberry baguette I had for lunch!!

I am so jealous of you all on or very near due date - I still have 4 weeks to go!!!!

Wizzska · 27/11/2007 13:53

Mememummy - our antinatal teacher says if you squat that opens the pelvis and the baby comes out faster and you can tear. She recommended squatting to begin with to help things along then going on all fours to give birth to prevent tearing.

Has anyone bought a new sling? I need to get one and cant decide. Want a really snug one that I can wear baby under my coat on school run to keep her warm and also hopefully to breastfeed in?

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 14:01

pecka - yes I got the kari-me one - nice stretchy material so good for a newborn but not so good once they get heavy. Think it was 30quid

claireybraxtonhicks · 27/11/2007 14:08

Mine is the Calin Bleu fleece. Is a wrap sling so can be tied in lots of different ways but again as it is stretchy isn't so good once they get heavier (although I have briefly carried dd in it). Also have a pouch for popability but don't think will be able to bf in it as seems a bit low

tabimum · 27/11/2007 14:10

Can anyone enlighten me on amount of Raspberry Leaf tea to drink/tablets to take please.

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 14:12

tabimum - apparently it is 2 tablets three times a day (just found that out - had only been taking one a day) but will link to a thread in a minute that has put me off taking them...

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 14:15

thread here

claireybraxtonhicks · 27/11/2007 14:32

Yes I'm taking 6 a day. Drank the tea last time and drank 3 cups a day.

Looked at the thread Skid and there may be something in it-total labour with dd was 7 hours but went straight to v painful contractions that were 5 mins apart and later on with no break between them. Can't have been that unbearable though cos I did it without drugs and haven't been put off using the rlt again.

Feeling v guilty now, dd has climbed into her buggy and is saying "Mummy! Mummy! Please?" but I really can't face taking her for a walk. Feel even guiltier as have been trying to get her to say please for ages and now she is I'm not even giving her what she wants

mellymooks · 27/11/2007 14:34

Hello everyone, excellent work on the chatting since this morning, just taken me about an hour to catch up!

We've got a hug-a-bub sling, seems lovely and comfy and got a couple of friends who have them and swear by them.

Went to shops and got lovely xmas wreath for front door.

That heated pool sounds blissful!!
Hoping we can keep temperature ok in our pool in a box, would have loved one with a heater but just couldn't stretch to it.

Clary Sage is quite potent on it's own, I usually put a few drops of lavender in too which when combined smells lovely (well I think so, but oils are very subjective!)

REALLY want some caramel shortbread now am absolutely addicted to them!!

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 14:36

oh no clairey - they do make you feel guilty, don't they? How long till DH comes home - can she wait until then for a walk? Or a walk round the garden?

That thread sort of scared me because although I don't want a really long drawn-out labour I don't want to go from 1cm to 10cm in an hour or two - that would be horrendous. So think I will restrict myself to a couple of tablets a day and try all the labour induction stuff rather than labour acceleration stuff

mememummy · 27/11/2007 14:42

the sex bomb bath bomb has got --- jasmine, clary sage and ylang ylang and smell gorg

becklebigbump · 27/11/2007 14:46

Hi all
Sorry to hear you have the lurgy Amani, hope you can get some rest.
Fifi, hope you don't get that consultant for your CS but at least you have some pre-warning, better than turning up and him just being there. Reassuring that he is good at CSs though, even if he is obviously not a 'people person'!
Choc, how are you? Sounds like things are getting close for you! Hope that LO holds on for as long as you need it to.
RGPargy, happy due date! am so with over 4 weeks to go still...
Tabimum, glad your LO turned at last and that the scare you had over the w/e was nothing to worry about.
Skid, I am still getting lots of BH's but don't think that means anything. Seem to be getting most in the evenings and they do pull a bit across the bottom but not sure if that is just because of sore hips and hernia? I had them regularly for weeks before DS2 was born! On the plus side, my bump has dropped! A lot! I can feel ribs between bump and boobs now and it looks strange to me that it is now low and sloping down instead of high and flat!

Am I naive to think that my waters won't break? They had to be broken with both DSs and had already started pushing with DS2 before the MWs broke them. My Mum was the same with all her 3 children too and although my youngest brother was born very quickly she still had to have the waters broken for her. TBH I hadn't given protecting the mattress/carpets/sofa/car a thought!

Bouncingturtle · 27/11/2007 14:47

Yep makes me a bit nervous too, the massage does sound rather nasty to me! Part of the reason why I want a water birth is because you are less likely to tear.

insywinsyspider · 27/11/2007 14:47

meme - I love lush, not one near us so will have to wait to get one next week

contempating leaving work now... still think we have mice and want to get some more traps - thought the poison would sort it, how long should they take to die??

lol skid - no maybe work isn't that bad!

loucee · 27/11/2007 14:47

Wow finding it hard to catch up!

Skidaddle, I've started the RLT tablets 1 x 3 times a day but might increas to 2 x 3 times a day when I'm 39 wks (I'm 37+1 now). Want to build it up as well.

Had a nightmare shopping trip, wasted far too much time then had to rush home to pick DD up. Never mind, there's always tomorrow I spose!

Just received two wine orders, I am desperate for a few glasses of wine! Can't wait til I can indulge!

skidaddle · 27/11/2007 14:53

oh beckle if you're still there, I wanted to ask you about SPD - not sure if that is what i have but when I walk I sometimes get this really intense pain at the bottom of my pelvis (where my leg meets my fanjo!) and I have to stop and move my leg into a different position and then it goes away. I also get in when turning over in bed unless I am really careful and keep my knees together. Sometimes it is fine and hardly hurts and sometimes it is horrendous and I can barely walk - does this sound like SPD - is there anything I can do to relieve it?
